Get Advice Thrown at you by the Proto Man - Proto Man - 05-01-2015 Post here and I'll give you my serious advice and predictions. Feel free to post again once the pre-show begins and during the contest itself if you'd like to so see how my advice changes. Re: Get Advice Thrown at you by the Proto Man - Illidan Stormrage - 05-01-2015 Do you have a list of who you think will be top 5? Re: Get Advice Thrown at you by the Proto Man - Monkey D. Luffy - 05-01-2015 I'm jonesing to play, but also curious about my predicted standings. Re: Get Advice Thrown at you by the Proto Man - Deadpool - 05-01-2015 000000000000oooooooooooOOOOOOOO How about me Re: Get Advice Thrown at you by the Proto Man - Alain the Carnedge - 05-01-2015 Don't mind you telling me how badly I'm gonna get my ass kicked, sure! Re: Get Advice Thrown at you by the Proto Man - Doomguy - 05-01-2015 I plan to get go in, and I'm working towards increasing my stats, but what else can I do to better my chances of winning? Re: Get Advice Thrown at you by the Proto Man - Proto Man - 05-01-2015 Link Wrote:Do you have a list of who you think will be top 5? Honestly, there are too many variables at the moment for me to do anything than rampant speculation, and a lot of it will depend on how well people adjust to the challenges of something like this. I'd say that Deadpool, Retane, Gilgamesh, Dio, and Whirda all have a shot at the top spots and for mostly different reasons. Re: Get Advice Thrown at you by the Proto Man - Proto Man - 05-01-2015 Doomguy Wrote:I plan to get go in, and I'm working towards increasing my stats, but what else can I do to better my chances of winning? I will need to refresh myself on Doomguy before this goes down. I read some of your earliest work and very little since then (i apologize). I think that, depending on how well you adapt and how your roll with your strategy, you could genuinely be a giant X factor. As probably the only person with a first-person perspective (the only person ever, if you count the old canon of DA), I can already say I'll be looking forward to Doomguy's perspective. I feel like you'll probably be one of the violent types who hunts for foes? Definitely do that if you have the Starting Weapon to do so. Even if you get bloodied, I feel like that will only give you more to write with as your story progresses. Re: Get Advice Thrown at you by the Proto Man - Proto Man - 05-01-2015 Alain the Carnedge Wrote:Don't mind you telling me how badly I'm gonna get my ass kicked, sure! Basing this on the fact that all I've read from you has been your work as part of Dio's clique. If you're feeling a little uneasy about your chances, I'd probably consider teaming with one of those guys on the island, if only to provide you with a steady partner. Maybe make it a short-term pairing to get the both of you through the first day or so, because anything longer, and I feel like you'd risk being overshadowed by someone like Dio or Aang who have shown they can pump out roleplays (and thus story) at a faster pace. Re: Get Advice Thrown at you by the Proto Man - Proto Man - 05-01-2015 Monkey D. Luffy Wrote:I'm jonesing to play, but also curious about my predicted standings. Middle quarter or top quarter. I'm refraining from hard numbers, because I'm aware that the total number of people may fluctuate... but yea, top 5 or top 10. What will make the difference? You're a strong writer--you have that going for, for sure. What I've seen from Luffy, however, is a lot of ensemble writing (with Buggy, Michael, Lolbunny, and a slew of entertaining NPCs). All of it is grade A stuff (obviously I'm a fan of your thread, I nominated it), but I'm curious to see if Luffy can stand truly alone in a situation like Dante's Abyss. Re: Get Advice Thrown at you by the Proto Man - Gilgamesh - 05-01-2015 What do you think my biggest fault will be in DA? Re: Get Advice Thrown at you by the Proto Man - Proto Man - 05-01-2015 Deadpool Wrote:000000000000oooooooooooOOOOOOOO You have the writing quality and the character talent to tell a compelling story by yourself on the island, and with a little luck in terms of movement, you could probably wait out most of the competition. If that remains your plan, I'd just be cautious of not becoming stale after 5-10 roleplays. I love me some DP, but anything could become boring if it remains stagnant too long. Much like your love life -- Keep things fresh. Or go crazy and try murdering people. Unless you crash between now and DA, you could probably mess someone up on Day 1, Part 1, and the aftermath of a Face-to-Face always makes for fun story. I don't think your DA08 story with Aero would have been half as compelling if not for the intermittent fights and the drama that inspired. Re: Get Advice Thrown at you by the Proto Man - Proto Man - 05-01-2015 Gilgamesh Wrote:What do you think my biggest fault will be in DA? Make sure you keep things fresh, whether that means trying to get into a fight or two or ensuring you have partners to bounce Gilgamesh's ego off of. Re: Get Advice Thrown at you by the Proto Man - Carn_Val - 05-01-2015 I'd love to have your thoughts on how will Carn survive the first few days. Carn's only experience is with Minecraft Survival. Re: Get Advice Thrown at you by the Proto Man - Drogon - 05-01-2015 Ah, thanks for the mention! However, I'm still debating which character to throw in, and leaning towards Erza. I would also like to see what the Dungeon Master has to say about my chances. Re: Get Advice Thrown at you by the Proto Man - Gin Yatreg - 05-01-2015 Anything for me? Re: Get Advice Thrown at you by the Proto Man - Proto Man - 05-01-2015 Carn_Val Wrote:I'd love to have your thoughts on how will Carn survive the first few days. Carn's only experience is with Minecraft Survival. XD Honestly, I haven't read a thing you've wrote, and I apologize for that. That said, your strategy on Day 1 should reflect your weapon. If you wind up with something awesome, you should hope to stumble into a Face to Face, because a quick, bloodying scuffle will give you a lot of material to work with. If you wind up with Uno Cards... you'll probably want to try and avoid that. Head to a spot on the map that interests you and write some wacky stuff with (he seems wacky but maybe that's just your avatar) him. I have a soft spot for wacky when it's done well. Re: Get Advice Thrown at you by the Proto Man - Proto Man - 05-01-2015 Aang Wrote:Ah, thanks for the mention! However, I'm still debating which character to throw in, and leaning towards Erza. I would also like to see what the Dungeon Master has to say about my chances. Since Moves aren't really a thing, you should go with whoever you can be most comfortable with writing in a strange situation. You should also consider the possibility for alliances. I don't know who Ezra is pals with IC yet, but with Aang, you have the double-edged sword of Dio/Alain. Like I said for Alain (and this applies for ALL pairs or groups), just make sure you can match your partners, otherwise you'll be overshadowed. Re: Get Advice Thrown at you by the Proto Man - Proto Man - 05-01-2015 Gin Yatreg Wrote:Anything for me? I've actually read your most recent thread (because I mistook HitC for 'Hell in a Cell' because the post title was BAW GAWD). I feel like you could benefit from an early game Face-to-Face. I like your writing, and your character is the solid, adventure-loving type. He should see Dante's Abyss as the premier adventure and treat it that way, even if he takes a few smacks in the opening round. Re: Get Advice Thrown at you by the Proto Man - Shay Cormac - 05-01-2015 Since I'm really mostly doing this stuff for practice and I think it's really fun, how about my dumbly inconsistent posts? p-please be gentle proto-senpai |
