  Deep Questions
Posted by: Kenpachi Zaraki - 05-30-2014, 12:39 PM - Forum: Help Desk - Replies (6)

I had a few questions regarding the Vasty Deep.

The starting area in Vasty, Costa Del Sol, is from the Final Fantasy universe. Are locations and NPCs from the respective universes of Primes recognizable? Some kind of Deja vu thing or completely foreign since being pulled from their canon? Is the military presence obvious? Is it all pirates or something or are there still Storm Troopers and the like?

Related; is Impel Down just as it's described in the One Piece wiki (I've never seen the show)? How difficult would a jailbreak be? Are there guards and such, or just demons and shit?

About NPCs: I didn't see a thread about Mewtwo; where in the chronology was he taken from? And with roaming NPCs, do I search for them and then ask in IC discussion to see if I've "earned" the meet, or is it a simple a couple posts in "oh, there he is" and just write?

  White as Snow

Abbot couldn't help being surprised. After all, the way he'd been ripped from the middle of Fort Trinity and confronted with something calling itself "Omni" wasn't exactly normal. Then the landscape faded and changed, and Abbot Pence found himself standing in the ankle-deep water of a fountain. "Omni! What do you want from me? What do you mean, waiting?" Predictable, the higher power that had pulled him here hadn't deigned to answer, so Abbot decided to fall back on the tried-and-true method of exploring the world with his own two feet. Step one was to get out of the fountain, which he accomplished without much incident, only to find that the entirety of the world seemed to consist of the cobblestones immediately surrounding that fountain, followed by blank space and a variety of doors a good walk away from his current location.

The Pact Commander squinted his eyes, peering at each of the eight portals in the air in turn. Only two seemed to be occupied. One had a bunch of people trying to be subtle, and mostly succeeding; Abbot would never have seen them if one hadn't tripped over something and hit the ground hard. The other had men in uniforms standing around looking vigilant. Abbot took stock of himself next, berating himself for not doing that sooner. The myriad knives he usually kept on his person were gone, as were the smoke bombs, poison vials, specialty arrowheads... there was a lot of weaponry missing. However, his rapier, custom made by Pact smith Bonetti, was still strapped to his waist, and his hands found a lump of crystal in the depths of his coat sleeves that revealed itself to be his Zenith Bow. "That's good. These are really all I need. Other stuff's nice and all, but I can use these best anyway."

Abbot flipped his hood back, revealing snow-white hair that hung just past his ears. He'd need to trim it back soon so that it didn't get in the way. Rolling his shoulders back, he decided that he'd try his luck with the guarded gate to... the west? There wasn't a sun here, but something about the direction felt... westerly. He wasn't a navigator, but he'd operate under the delusion he was right until proven otherwise. He set off at a run, relishing in the opportunity to stretch his legs and use one of the skills that made him the fighter he was. He didn't run as fast as he could, but he kept up the fastest pace he could maintain over a distance. The trip took a decent chunk of time; as a walk, it would've taken two hours, but he covered the distance in half that, only just starting to breathe hard from the exertion when he reached the outpost and was stopped by a white-armored guard with a rifle and an upraised hand.

Abbot held up his own hand in greeting, but if the soldier was affected by the gesture he didn't show it. "Are you a new Prime?" Abbot shrugged. "Prime? Guess so, if that's what you call people here. Omni wasn't too generous with answers." The trooper nodded. "Primes are people that Omni summoned here. You can use Omnilium. Secondaries are people that Primes summon, and we can't." Abbot internalized the information and gave a slight bow of the head to the soldier. "Thank you, sir. That's very helpful." Abbot thought he heard something resembling a single chuckle from inside the man's helmet. "Just doing my job. I'm afraid I'll need your name. We have to keep records of comings and goings, especially of new Primes." Abbot shook his head with a grin. "No trouble at all. My name is Abbot Pence, Commander of the Pact forces at Fort Trinity." The soldier took down his name, though he showed no recognition of the title. "A commander, eh? If you want to resume your former trade, you'll need to join the armed forces and work up from scratch, but that shouldn't be too hard for a Prime. Especially not one with battle experience."

"That sounds like a good place to start," Abbot replied. The soldier was ready with directions, and told Abbot to look for a man by the name of Dredd. He pulled out a rectangular device much like Asuran readout displays and produced a picture. The man pictured was impressive, to say the least. The way he held himself, even in a picture, bespoke command and authority. He left Abbot with one more piece of advice; "Coruscant is divided into tiers. The lower you go, the less rule the law has. Stick to the upper tiers if you value your safety. There's a lot of hazards down below." Abbot nodded his gratitude and strode towards the gate as the troopers behind him returned to watching the white expanse of the Nexus.

  Just Looking Around
Posted by: Albert Wesker - 05-16-2014, 01:46 PM - Forum: Camelot - Replies (8)

He staggered unevely through the gate and out onto grass, dropping to one knee under the bright, natural sunlight. One hand on his face, over his eyes, the other loosely wrapped about an orb of Omnilium, faintly swirling and spinning, much like the wheels of his bicycle, which was nowhere in sight. Shortly before he had passed through the portal, he had gotten a sinking feeling that trying to take his wheeled conveyance with him wouldn't quite work out right, somehow. He didn't know why, but with his already present momentum, he didn't have time to fully stop, only to hop off of the bike and dismiss it, back to the Omnilium he had summoned it from.

The awkward change in momentum and footing, combined with his sudden rush through the portal, left him feeling heavily disoriented. For a split-second it seemed like he was at Marineford again, watching Whitebeard throw the very world into chaos, shaking and quaking the entire island and even the sea, turning the world upside down. And then it was passed, and he was on firm ground. Firm, solid, visible ground.

He remained still for several long moments to get his bearings before he rose back up to stand again. He gave the area about him a quick look over. Grass, those peculiar, huge stones standing upright, and farther off, a forest and other details which faded into the distance. And the distance was what had the majority of his attention. He could see, not a truly unreasonable distance off, what looked to be a small village or town. Farther off, barely visible in the distance, were a number of other such villages, and standing tall above everything was what looked to be a large city built onto the slopes of a mountain.

Details were hard to make out from distances.

There really wasn't much point in just standing around staring at nothing in particular, though. Dropping his gaze to the Omnilium in his hand, he pondered as to why he hadn't been able to bring Ao Chari through the portal with him. Trying to think about just summoning it again on this side of the portal produced a sharp, unpleasant sensation that told him it might not be a good idea to actually try. Turning his mind to other things that he could use in its place produced no such effect, and so he let his mind wander aimlessly, thinking of a suitable transportation means.

The scenery and the general feel of the place soon made up his mind for him, and he focused in his mind on summoning a horse. The Omnilium in his hand started to glitter more noticably, and he tossed it upon the ground to ready it for its reshaping into what he needed, sticking his hands in his pockets as he waited.

Oh my, oh my, this is new

This was quite a wake-up call.

Really, he'd been looking forward to a good nap after dealing with things on Punk Hazard. What exactly had he dealt with there, anyway? He'd gone there to do...something. And he had done it...he supposed. But what it was was staunchly evading his recall. As was how exactly he had left. He recalled climbing aboard Ao Chari, and heading toward the sea's edge, and then...

Then there had been Omni.

His eyes had been full of a lingering haze of light, his head full of a daze, his ears ringing, and unsteady on his feet, but he seemed otherwise fine. Half of what the strange being had said to him went right over his head as he tried to get his bearings, but he had grasped the basics of it well enough. Something about an Omniverse, and Omnilium...or something like that. And there were others around. Somewhere. It never dawned on him to do too much wondering what there were "others" of, and after a few seconds of searching his thoughts, let it drop as just "others".

He had more pressing things to worry about than things like that, anyway. Like finding out where exactly he was. Which, normally, would be a simple enough task to go about. Take a look around, check any landmarks...or just head out to sea and wander until he found something he DID recognize. But this...wasn't exactly the Grand Line. This was just...white. Stretching nearly as far as he could see, only broken up by a few objects here and there. Either very small or quite far away, they made the place feel even more stark. The only other thing he could see was the strange-looking....fountain behind him.

It was a mostly simple affair of weathered stone. The only thing remarkable about it was an ornate bird situated in its center, carved from what almost looked like crystal...but which he had a sinking suspicion was actually ice. It brought a faint smile to his face, but it faced as he turned back to surveying the distant objects.

His first instinct was to go and have a look at one of them, and maybe later all of them in turn. But it seemed like...kind of a long walk.

He brought one hand up to his head, resting his head against his forehead, head slowly tilting back until he was staring at where the sky would have normally been. What he'd heard about Omnilium came back to him. "What I desire most...huh?" While he stared blankly at the empty whiteness, he let his mind wander. Something....something to get around with quicker than walking...

That would sure be nice right about now...

Just maybe, he could...

  Kuzan
Posted by: Albert Wesker - 05-14-2014, 10:34 PM - Forum: Joining - Replies (1)

Character name: Kuzan

Character source: One Piece

Character history: Pulled from shortly after his brief 'confrontation' with Doflamingo on Punk Hazard and subsequent departure.

Stats:
ATK: 3
DEF: 2
SPD: 3
TEC: 2

Starting Proficiencies:
Physical Strength -- 1000 OM
Ranged Proficiency -- 1000 OM
Area Attack Proficiency -- 600 OM

Starting Powers:
Burst Movement -- 800 OM
Advanced Super Jumping -- 500 OM

Starting Moves:
Ice Saber -- 300 OM
Kuzan is capable of snap-freezing either several small objects, such as blades of grass, or a mass of water vapor into a jagged blade of ice, razor sharp and tough enough for use in combat. Forming the blade takes roughly four seconds.

Ice Pick -- 300 OM
Holding out one hand, palm facing target-ward, Kuzan fires off a quick burst of small spikes of ice. Individually they each pack about as much force as a light jab, but they are fired in a moderate number and can deal decent enough damage. Their effect reaches roughly two meters before dissipating into harmless clouds of icy mist, but they have a wide spread analagous to a shotgun blast, making dodging within that range difficult.

Ice Block: Partizan -- 300 OM
Kuzan forms a handful of sharp spears of ice just behind himself, and with a gesture of his arm at their intended target, they launch forward with great speed. Usually launched in a volley of six, they can fly about fifteen feet before dissipating, and strike with a harsh, shattering impact.

Writing example: ((This here is from a relatively recent foray into adventure and nonsense, as Brook, also from One Piece, taken from another site (naturally).))

The first thing Brook noticed when he registered the light hitting his empty sockets was that it was much too bright. It should have been filtered through curtains and windows, and if nothing else coming at him from a slightly less direct angle.

The second thing was that he wasn't in his bed. From the noises he could hear about him, and the feeling on his back as he lay sprawled out on....something, probably the ground, it definitely wasn't his bed, nor was it the anywhere on theThousand Sunny. He couldn't hear the sound of the waves, nor the gentle sound of the ocean winds. Even in a stretch of calm and still water, the ocean was never completely at rest, and as a musicion he would have heard even the faintest noises of the seawater lapping at the ship's hull.

But he didn't.

All he heard were the strange sounds of errant breezes, and what sounded like the distant murmuring of people. Some place populated, at least. That was a good thing, then, as it meant he could ask some questions!

A sudden jolt in whatever it was he was laying on brought some alarm to his features. "Eh?" He sat bolt upright, staring blankly ahead. Had he still had his eyes, he would have blinked dumbly. And behind him, he heard a sharp intake of breath, a loud "WAAAH!", and the very distinct thunk of someone falling flat on their face.

"Eh?"

Still confused, Brook turned his head slowly about, to see what all the commotion was about. Sprawled on the ground was a man, clad all in black, his hat nowhere near in its proper place, looking utterly terrified. And staring straight at him.

"......."

"......"

"...are you alright?"

"W-Whagh! Stay back, demon!"

"Demon...?" It took a moment to fully dawn, but soon Brook realized what was going on. And his features went into a state of panic, and he leapt upright, flailing lamely over the side of what was revealed to be a cart, landing flat on the back of his head. But he only continued his senseless flailing. "W-Where?! I need to get away!"

"E-Eh....?" The poor man was momentarily dumbstruck by the strange antics of the skeleton before him, before snapping out of it and pointing an accusing finger at Brook. "I-I mean you!"

Brook immediately froze, mouth wide open, limbs still in the air as he tried to flail himself back onto his feet. "Eh?" Slowly, he sat upright on the ground, mouth still hanging open, staring back at the main. For a long while, Brook said nothing, and merely stared. The man took a step back, his arm lowering as a look of nervousness crept over his face.

"Yohohohoho!" Finally, Brook fell backward, sprawling out upon the ground. "Thank goodness! I thought there was an actual demon here! You nearly scared me to death!"

The man could only stare at him blankly, muttering under his breath, "But aren't you already dead...?"

The main blinked, and Brook was on his side, curled into a ball. ".....I was going to say that...."

An awkward silence fell, before Brook sprang up to his feet. "I don't mean to be rude, but I seem to have misplaced myself while I was asleep!" With a broad, sweeping gesture, the skeleton tipped his overly-large hat. "I am Soul King Brook!" After several seconds of blank staring, he set his jaw with a slight clack of bones and replaced his hat upon his afro. It looked like people didn't recognize his name here. "Could you possibly tell me where I am?"

"N-No, I can't. Just....just get outta here!"

Without another glance, the man climbed back onto his cart, and went on his way.

Brook was left standing there, perplexed. "That was rather odd."

If he had bothered to pay attention, he would have noticed the small plaque on the cart proclaiming it worked for a funeral home.

I confirm that I have read and agreed to the Rules of Conduct.

And, If my math is right, that leaves 200 OM left over for later, too.
