Team Masks (frozen fields Dark Data Quest OOC)

Figured I'd make this topic since we now got three whole people doing posts and since we got a very specific one to respond to right about now.

On that note: I'm going to just assume we'll keep the posting order the same for this next challenge, so I'll wait for Kopaka to make a post before I make one. Though if Keldor the goodly human wizard would like to go first, he need only message me.

  Game Concept
Posted by: Gaston - 05-17-2017, 07:28 AM - Forum: The Arcade - Replies (3)

So, I had an idea for a game. It's based off of an old tumblr post, which posed an interesting concept: what if a zombie and a ghost came from the same person? So here's the idea. There are 2 players: 1 zombie, and 1 ghost. The zombie can move around and interact with things, but can't see or hear anything other than the other player. The ghost can see and hear anything, but can't move or interact with things, can only tell the zombie where to go. The idea is that it forces cooperation, and would be fun to play with people who don't like working together, or strangers. But you could apply the concept to another game. So, basically, you play with a tv, one player has a blindfold and the controller and the other player can see. Anyone know of a puzzle game that would be good for this?

I have Dark Link’s permission to perform this swap. Proof of it is in my Log.

Physical Description: (originals only)

Stats: (1000)

DEF: 2
SPD: 3
TEC: 3 (+1)

Starting Proficiencies: (2600) Physical Prof (1000), Ranged Prof (1000), Remote Control (600)
Starting Powers: (400) Master Acrobat (400)

Starting Moves: (1200)
Pod 042 (Ranged Proficiency, Remote Control Proficiency - 300)
2B is accompanied by a standard Yorrha Combat Support Pod, designation 042.
Pod 042 hovers near 2B at all times and cannot act autonomously, instead relying on 2B’s orders to do anything besides following her and attempting to automatically dodge incoming attacks (moving as far away as 10 feet / 3 meters from 2B).
Pod 042 uses moves purchased for 2B, that are labeled to be usable only by the Pod (Pod Programs).
Pod 042 can fire basic machine-gun like fire, although it’s more a tool of distraction than damage. Pod’s targeting is based on 2B’s choice.

The rate of fire is high, at 800 rounds per minute. After emptying its magazine, the pod requires thirty seconds to recharge before it is capable of firing again.

While Pod 042 is firing, 2B is capable of moving as she normally would, but her attacking power diminishes greatly for all other moves.

Pod 042 is an agile little thing, and given its size fairly difficult to hit. While it can handle smaller attacks and lower caliber firearms for a few hits, heavier things such as being crushed by a buster sword attack or shot down via a stronger fire arm are sure ways to deal with the pest.
It takes 2B five seconds to summon a new one due to its intricate mechanisms and programs. These five seconds take the majority of her concentration, leaving her vulnerable to attacks as she is unable to move or defend.

Rate of Fire: 800 rounds per minute
Magazine size: 800
Reload time: 30 seconds
Effective Range: 75 meters

R010: Laser (Ranged Proficiency, Remote Control Proficiency - 300)

Pod Program R010, usable only by Pod 042.
2B orders Pod 042 to fire a single laser beam at its target.

While initially very weak, this laser beam can be charged before firing in order to increase its power. The weakest variant can be fired instantaneously on command. The laser can be charged for up to ten seconds before it reaches its full power.

Without charging the laser is hardly tiring at all for 2B to use given its weakness.
Half charged, it has an somewhat larger impact on her.
Constantly using the fully charged version would very quickly leave 2B winded and require her to either rest or otherwise regain her energy. Anything upwards of three consecutive uses would have such an effect.

Charging up the laser requires 2B to concentrate upon Pod 042 and its actions, as such preventing her from attacking in other ways, and slowing her movements to a slow walk.

Regardless of how long the laser was charged (if at all), Pod 042 can only use this Pod Program once every 30 seconds.

Virtuous Contract (Physical Strength Proficiency  - 300)
A white katana style sword. First of the two blades 2B wields, suited for fast and agile attacks that rely on their quantity, rather than the power of a single strike.
2B’s combat style is based upon delivering multiple strikes with Virtuous Contract in one hand, before delivering a powerful blow with her other hand wielding Virtuous Treaty.

Virtuous Contract can also be wielded alone without its sister blade, Virtuous Treaty.

Weight: 1,3 kilograms
Blade Length: 65 centimeters
Total Length: 75 centimeters

This move can be used together with 2B’s other melee weapons, as well as the Pod 042 firing. Firing with Pod 042 decreases the damage 2B deals with her other moves. (Further details in Pod 042’s move description.)

Virtuous Treaty (Physical Strength Proficiency - 300)
A white nodachi style sword. Second of the two blades 2B wields, suited for slow and brutish strikes that rely on the power of a singular strike, rather than their accuracy or quantity.
2B’s combat style is based upon delivering multiple strikes with Virtuous Contract in one hand, before delivering a powerful blow with her other hand wielding Virtuous Treaty.

Virtuous Treaty can also be wielded alone without its sister blade, Virtuous Contract.

Weight: 2,6 kilograms
Blade Length: 90 centimeters
Total Length: 110 centimeters

This move can be used together with 2B’s other weapons, as well as the Pod 042 firing. Firing with Pod 042 decreases the damage 2B deals with her other moves.

I confirm that I have read and agreed to the Rules of Conduct.
As usual.

Where did you find us?

  Prologue of Rain
Posted by: The Vision - 05-16-2017, 10:15 PM - Forum: The Vasty Deep - Replies (1)

Quote:Mini Fogwell's Gym

Vision leaned on a wall while Captain Rogers tended to Mr. Potter's new wounds.

"You could've gone easier on him," the super-soldier scolded Mr. Wright.

"Sorry," Marcus replied, "But it WAS just a little bit of tough love."

The chatter in Vision's head had exponentially increased. His conversation with Officer Richards - which had mixed results, to say the least - was quite the social phenomenon. The Vision quickly realized that he had brought unwanted attention to the Avengers, and he had already recognized that he was not equipped to answer difficult moral questions, especially ones that questioned justifications of various individuals.

The Vision cleared the controversy. He was not interested in such chatter. Perhaps this was why he was not equipped for those difficult questions?

Instead, he was interested in the sudden rise of mobilization in the Pale Moors.

"Query," the Vision said, "If you are done with your 'tough love,' Mr. Wright, would you mind accompanying me on a mission?"

"I'll come," Captain Rogers suggested.

"Negative," the android answered, "Analysis implies that individuals at least partially immune to mystical phenomena are best suited for this mission."

Captain Rogers and Mr. Potter were reminded of how humiliated Bellatrix looked when her Killing Curse did nothing to Vision except illuminate his green exoskeleton.

"Furthermore, Mr. Potter requires more training before being out in the field again, whether it is with our team or individually," the android said. He nodded at Captain Rogers.

"Request: take care of the Tower while I am indisposed."

The Vision grabbed Mr. Wright fell through the floor. Mr. Potter sighed.

"How does he do that?"

"Son, I've worked with the Vision for years," Captain Rogers sighed, "I can't tell you how many times he's explained it. I still don't understand."

Mr. Potter shrugged. "American education."

Quote:The briefing room

"We've been contacted by a group of scholars called the Astronomers' Guild," Vision explained, "They have sent us a message regarding a rumor that has been circulating recently."

The conference table lit up, projecting a small digital screen for each Avenger on the surface. The screens displayed a video of a hooded figure's upper body. He was an old man, his face covered in scars and his eyes wizened by the years. His bottom lip trembled from weakness but nevertheless he still gave the impression he was fit enough to arm-wrestle a bear.

"This is a message to the Avengers," the scholar said, "My name is Lysander. I am a member of the Astronomers' Guild. Stories about your exploits have reached our colleagues in the Vasty Deep. Normally, we do not need to reach out to heroes or warriors, but it seems these days we cannot do anything without them."

Lysander sighed and folded his hands. "We have already sent word to other various agencies that we think can get the job done. But I specifically wanted to reach out to yours. There are.. few agencies that simply wish to act for the greater good."

The scholar gestured with two fingers. The screen flickered, displaying a rough map of the Omniverse.

"All over the Omniverse, we've spotted seven astrological events that caused great concern to our guild. We have reason to believe these fallen stars hold some greater undiscovered power. We've made it our mission to secure these star pieces and keep them from the wrong hands. Sometimes, that included our own.

"Some time ago, we hired a powerful Prime to retrieve one of these Star Pieces, in the Pale Moors. His name was Son Goku, and he succeeded. Since then, he's vanished. We tracked him down to the haunted town of Silent Hill. Given the time that he's been gone, and the danger surrounding the place, we have to assume the worst.

"We would like you to retrieve the item for us from Silent Hill. It is too powerful to leave at the hands of its residents. They are... unsavory. I know this isn't much to go on, but I can vouch for the importance of this task. And trust me, you will need to bring everybody you can. We can give you exact details once you meet our people in the Moors.

"Attached with this video message is an image of our emblem. Look for it in Darkshire. That's the major town nearby. We can talk more there."

Lysander paused. "I hope you decide to take the job."

The video blinked shut. Vision looked up.

"I searched for what I could on the 'Star Pieces' Mr. Lysander described. I've found... little. But I assure you this is not a mission to take lightly."

"We should probably hurry up, then shouldn't we?" Mr. Wright said.

Vision frowned. "Error: unexpected input. Expected variables: query on trustworthiness of client, request of information on Silent Hi-"

"Nope," Mr. Wright interrupted, "Let's go."

Vision shrugged. "As you wish. I installed a Teleporter to the Pale Moors recently. After you."

Quote:817 of 10000 words.

  Healing and Super Moves
Posted by: Handsome Jack - 05-16-2017, 10:13 PM - Forum: Help Desk - Replies (1)

With the recent update improving the effectiveness of the Regen Tree, do Super Moves have the ability to improve the "base" healing amount? Or would they simply allow you to spend more than 1 SP at once? Or are they unnecessary in regards to this Power now?

Quote:0-5 DEF: 1-2 points of damage per 1 SP. (starting at 1, moving gradually up to 2)
6-10 DEF: 2-3 points of damage per 1 SP. (starting at 2, moving gradually up to 3)
11+ DEF: 3 points of damage per 1 SP.

Let's say, as a character in the 0-5 bracket, I wanted to create a Super Move to get more bang for my buck when Regenerating. I throw together a T1 Super Move to count my Def as 5 (instead of 2) for a brief instant to get the 2 points of damage healed instead of one. Is this kosher?

Alternatively, since I can already spend 1 SP to do what it says on the tin, I throw together a T2 to spend 2 SP and get double the healing. Is that necessary anymore?

Azure Oak: Soda Bar & Auditorium
Posted by: Jams Bolero - 05-16-2017, 08:09 PM - Forum: Omniverse Discussion - Replies (3)

Jams is planning on making his base a soda bar and auditorium where people can sit down, order an ice cold beverage and watch a concert, play, or other show performed at the auditorium.  This is planned to be in the Tangled Greens somewhere.  It could possibly be made near or within the outskirts of Ambrosia, though it could also be placed relatively near the Nexus gate with signs pointing toward the bar's location.

Could this be a popular joint for primes and secondaries alike?  If so, what area would be the best for it to attract people?  Are there any other potential areas for it to be located?

Out of the Frying Pan, Into the Rainforest
Posted by: Harry Dresden - 05-16-2017, 12:14 AM - Forum: The Tangled Green - Replies (2)

Harry Dresden emerged from the Ashen Steppes gate and immediately regretted his decisions, having gone straight from the hot, arid Steppes into the hot, driving rain on the other side of the gate. The wizard spluttered, as it felt like someone had upended a bucket of water over his head, before shaking out his shield bracelet and calling a disc of force into being above his head. It was a wasteful thing to do with magic, but he couldn't see for the rain at first. Still, this wasn't sustainable; running water drains magic, after all, and rain has a similar effect. Stepping away from the gate and under the cover of the nearest big, leafy tree he couldn't really identify, Harry let the shield fall and set to work summoning an umbrella, drawing the rainbow-bubble of Omnilium out of his hand and shaping it with his will. He was getting soaked anyway, since it took so long, but better to have it and keep the rain mostly off of him while he walked; he'd dry out eventually, and he needed to conserve energy; the rain would make it hard to cast spells, though not impossible. Anything to spare magical energy was a good thing, even if the dense forest precluded the summoning of a vehicle. A mount might be more useful, but then Harry would have to deal with riding an animal. He could; he'd ridden horses often at Ebenezer's farmstead, but he was fairly out of practice. It would be much easier, if less speedy, to just start walking.

Not that Harry knew much about where he'd be walking, just that he needed to head to the east, locate a river, and follow it southward until he came across civilization of some kind. His musing about directions and methods of travel was cut short by the sudden halt to the summoning process, leaving the wizard clutching a simple black umbrella, which he promptly opened. Facing directly away from the gate, the wizard began his trek into the trackless jungle, searching for the Animus River that would lead him somewhere new. Of course, nothing's ever really simple, and, unbeknownst to the wizard, a creature soon picked up his trail and began hunting him, the vibrant purple lizard with its colorful frill slowly closing in on the unsuspecting Chicago native.

Sure, it was just a Great Jaggi, but even that lowly monster could pose a threat to an unprepared individual, and Harry was not yet aware of his hunter.

Not that he'd be overly concerned with the Jaggi if he did know what they were, and that one was after him. They're rather disappointing specimens, honestly.
