Quiet Contemplation
Posted by: James Knight - 07-31-2017, 08:50 AM - Forum: Coruscant - Replies (6)

Upon his return to the shanty that he called home, Veritas knew that he had a lot to think about. For starters he had been bamboozled into signing documents which essentially sold his freedom away for nothing more than a cybernetic arm that he had not wished to have on his body. The arrogance of Doctor Kratz was beginning to become intolerable. Also, how much force did it take to make sure the doctor stayed down? Was he going to have to break his word to Doctor Johnson and actually do something about that not so good doctor after all? Well, he'd wait. If the Doctor took him in for another unwanted series of experiments, perhaps he would do something about it. Scowling as he looked at the drab, light gray walls of the apartment on Tier Four that he had taken over, which had been uninhabited, and had a roach problem, he laid down on the lumpy bed, and tried to get some sleep. With the springs of the bed pressing into his back, however sleep was rendered harder than it should be. Of course this was not the only reason that sleep eluded him. One of the reasons was the creaking of the floor boards of the apartment every time the roaches made their way across the floor.

In addition to the bed he was sleeping in, or rather, trying to sleep in, the place had an infestation. Much like his annoyance with Doctor Kratz, his annoyance at his living conditions was something that he knew he was going to have to resolve, one way or another. Yet another situation came to mind when the sound of fireworks bomb-blasted his ear drums and he looked out the window. Great, those idiots were still at it, launching the fireworks that they had, and driving him one step closer to shishkabobing them with the Dark Saber Replica if they kept it up.  The noise was annoying, and in combination with his other problems was adding more stress than he knew he could handle. Forcing himself to take a deep breath, Veritas considered his options.

The first thing on his list should be taken care of first. Unfortunately he was not good at the law/legal matters and so he was going to need to find someone who was, who could help him with his problems. In short, what he needed right now more than anything else was a lawyer of sorts who could wade through the sea of legalese on the documents, which he had downloaded to his Mobile Dataverse Device, so he could figure a way out of the problems that he currently had. Finding a lawyer was going to have to wait however, for he was about to have guests. After hearing persistent and loud knocking on the door,  Veritas went down to check out what the source of the racket was, as he had been trying and miserably failing to get any sort of suitable rest. If it was a salesman, Veritas was not going to be so nice to them. They were going to learn the error of their ways, via having the Dark Saber inserted into them very rapidly, and have several new breathing holes.

Yeesh, he did need to calm down before he murdered someone. Of course with the past few days he had, it was no surprise he was in the mother of all foul moods right now. As the rapping which was beginning to grate on the last infinitesimally small pieces of nerves that he had left for the next month, he decided he was definitely going to go down and answer it. For the sakes of the individuals down there, Veritas hoped it was not a door to door salesman, but he couldn't be sure. If it was Doctor Kratz? People were going to definitely be screaming by the time he finished with the good doctor, as the absolute last thing he needed right now was a visit from that doctor.

No one was going to be cutting into him again, he could tell anyone who tried that much. They'd learn just how unpleasant he could be if they tried such. After all he didn't have to be nicey-nice anymore with the not so good doctor. He was here, at his 'home' he was squatting in. Eventually he was going to need a new place to call home. A good home, a two story one would be one that would fit his desires and tastes more than the one he had now. At least, it would be better than the one that he had at present. However, he couldn't focus on his desires right now. There was only one thing he was going to focus on, and that was attempting to knock out that racket that was coming from downstairs. Doubling his pace downstairs, he'd go to check out what it was.

  (joining) 13-Jzall
Posted by: 13-Jzall - 07-31-2017, 06:44 AM - Forum: Joining - Replies (5)

Character name:
13-Jzall
Character source:
Warhammer 40k admech ranger
Character history:
One of the rangers sent to assassinate the beast, 13-Jzall was on a mission that could only result in the death of one or the other, before he could take his shot a greenskin spotted him and immediately and 'killed' him. What really happened was that 13-Jzall (I am now breaking canon if anyone cares) was taken by the Omni and was sent to the fountain, what happens next is up to 13-Jzall and what he divines the omnissiah's will to be.

Stats:
ATK: 3
DEF: 2
SPD: 2
TEC: 3

Starting Proficiencies:
Ranged proficiency
Starting Powers:
ranged proficiency, master acrobat, advanced enhanced senses and suppression

Starting Moves:
Pistol: pospheonix pistol 600 om
A high power revolver with a special type of burning ammo which can be triggered to melt lock and wooden barricades, comes with a silencer. It can hold 6 bullets which are all reloaded at once but that replaces the entire clip which can be scavenged after the battle. The reload takes a total of 3 seconds. It is close  semi auto although too many shots in rapid succession will make it a lot harder to aim. The maximum range of the gun is 300 meters, although the power and accuracy will significantly go down. It has iron sights that work but are fairly inaccurate, these can be replaced with proper modern sights although this will take time resources. 13 can run around while shooting, albeit inaccurately, to cover his escape or to secure an area. To be hit by this is to feel like you've been hit by a highly powerful revolver and then have the wound burn up within you. This can sometimes cauterize the wound but will often cause more damage. 13 can put the special 'fire powder' on his hand to be used as a literal strike anywhere match. The bullets are equivalent to a .300 round.

Sniper rifle: transonic arquebus 300 om
A high power sniper rifle based on top of a tripod that can only be shot with full accuracy while on the ground and with 13-Jzall standing still, although the tripod can be set up quite quickly depending on 13's speed. It can hold 3 bullets including the one in the barrel and is bolt-action. Changing the bullet takes 1 second and reloading takes 5. The tripod takes around 5-10 seconds to set up depending on where he is, it can be shot without the tripod just not that well. The bullet type is 14.5x113mm which has an effective range of around 2000m. To be hit is to not notice anything until it is too late. It enters and exits your body as fast as lightning as is no less deadly, although it can not set things on fire, it can be used to break locks or windows without being seen.

MOCK BATTLE: Ash, The Storm Demon VS. Ian Sylvester
Posted by: Ash - 07-31-2017, 04:34 AM - Forum: The Creative Corner - Replies (7)

Arena style, Ash appears on one side of the stage through a pixelization animation she materializes in a typical battleground with breakable platforms in the form of crates, giant stone statues of some power figures scattered around the 120-foot radius arena, the height of the figures ranged from 4 to 12 foot tall. To one side of the area, a few broken tiles, apparently water damaged to the otherwise temple-like stage as a puddle of clear water sets in the slightly indented floor undisturbed. Otherwise, they stood on stark white floors that reflect their images.

Before Ian stood a slender, fragile, but attractive figure, her purplish-blue skin looking more like a deep bruise than flesh, ebony horns that grow from above her pointed ears around her temples to almost meet each other in front of her forehead; and a devil's tail swaying behind her with a rough arrow head heart at the end. Her opponent knew it was her skin that was the strange color because she showed an awful lot of it. Wearing skin tight jeans with holes all the way down her leg until the combat boots cut it off mid-calf. Her shirt was just as tight and as holy but was some crop top tee. Her medium length-hair, black as the raven's feathers, was half-braided up the middle of her head, the rest all gathered in a messy bun.

She looked mostly unarmed, he could see a slim handle poking out of the dagger sized sheath strapped to her left thigh, and... A red colored grapple hook in her right hand, hanging casually from a black rope for a moment before she loaded it into the contraption that was on her right forearm. The woman looked blind, her eyes sheets of white, but she grinned at her oppunent, one of many piercings being the silver ring on the left side of her lip catching his attention under the natural light. "Go easy on me, kay?" She then winked at him.

  Dark Data Rewards
Posted by: Nebula - 07-30-2017, 06:43 PM - Forum: Omniverse Discussion - Replies (35)

With so many threads already wrapped up, or getting close to that point, it seemed time to get this up.

If you've completed your participation in Dark Data, and are ready to move on and receive your rewards or have already finished up and not gotten them yet (in which case I do apologize, quite profusely), post here and let me know.

For the sake of transparency, here is the breakdown of rewards:
50% bonus = standard participation; just for writing with other people
10% = saga participation, just for taking part in this saga and joining a liberation thread in one of the verses
20% = verse liberation, for successfully seeing a mission through to the end and liberating a verse (can be gotten multiple times, once per verse you were in, if you stick with it long enough)
30% = Finished it off, participate in the final clash against Nebula's leader

Additionally. At the end of it, when Nebula's leader is defeated, the top three participants in that final struggle (by my own opinions; though the requirement that they must survive the encounter) will receive a choice of artefacts.

EDIT BY TRIXIE:

Quote:Alright, going forward everyone who posts here for rewards must include a character count to get OM.

Everyone who has already posted, can you please post your character count for the total number of posts you made. I need character count, spaces included, and I'll begin handing out rewards.

Also please provide which percentages you are eligible for from the original post.

Thank you.

ONLY SUBMIT FOR AWARDS ONCE YOU HAVE EXITED DARK DATA!

  A Public Apology
Posted by: Handsome Jack - 07-30-2017, 01:33 PM - Forum: The Whateververse, Man - Replies (3)

Yesterday, I lobbed some pretty harsh accusations at my friend Alex. After doing some checking today, and having talked with him about it, I have come to the conclusion that I was wrong. Not just for doubting my friend, but for thinking he'd edit a post in the middle of a challenge in the first place. It simply was not true. I feel like a pretty huge heel right now. Alex is a stand-up guy, and I basically threw his name in the mud. Basically, I'm an enormous asshole and I'm having trouble actually finding the words to explain just how sorry I am. He deserves better than I did to him, and I hope he can forgive me for what I did. I'm not too proud to admit that I was wrong. Sorely wrong.

I'm truly sorry, Alex. You're a great guy for not stooping to my level. I also apologize to anyone else that got caught up in my mess. I'll strive to ensure I don't let something like this happen again. I'm gonna go sit in the corner and think about what I did. I'll be back later.

  Joining - Crono
Posted by: Crono - 07-30-2017, 08:27 AM - Forum: Joining - Replies (6)

Character name: Crono

Character source: Chrono Trigger

Character history:
Born in 983 A.D. to Gina and an unnamed father in the city of Truce, Crono quickly befriends a girl named Lucca. Seventeen years later, on the day of the Millennial Fair, Crono met his bride-to-be, Marle, though he did not know it at the time. Together, they enjoy the fair's festivities until the unveiling of Lucca's new invention, the Telepod. Always faithful to his friend, he agrees to test the device despite all dangers. The transportation is successful. However, when Marle tests it, she is sent back in time. Following her, Crono returns her to the Present and rescues her lost ancestor Queen Leene to ensure Marle's birth in that time period.

Returning Marle to Guardia Castle, her home, Crono is accused of kidnapping her in attempts to thwart the throne. Represented by Pierre in a trial, Crono is sentenced to death by the Chancellor, regardless of whether he is found guilty or not guilty. Lucca frees him seconds before he is brought to the Guillotine and together, they flee the Prison Towers. On their way to Guardia Forest, Marle tags along and the three travel to the Future via an open Gate. Investigating the area in search of a means to return home, Crono and his friends find food supplies for the inhabitants of Arris Dome, where he also meets his descendant Doan and learns that the ruined future was caused by Lavos. He vows to save the planet from destruction through the use of time-travel. Shortly after, he assist a robotic man named Robo in deactivating a Derelict Factory to find a way home.

Entering the Gate, he arrives at the End of Time where he receives magical abilities. With the aid of these powers and the powers of his allies, Crono successfully reforges the Masamune by acquiring Dreamstone in Prehistory and attempts to slay the Fiendlord, Magus, whom he believes is the root of Lavos's presence in the time line. This leads him back to Prehistory where helps the Iokans destroy the Reptites, thus securing the evolution and prosperity of the human race whose lives were jeopardized by these sentient lizards. Directly afterward, he realizes Lavos was not summoned by Magus, but is an alien species who fell from the sky in this time period. Attempting to follow the beast to the crater it created by landing, he is transported to the Antiquity era.

In the Antiquity era, he rescues Melchior from the Mountain of Woe and subsequently attempts to rescue Schala, the innocent Zeal Princess who is being exploited by her mother, Queen Zeal. When Crono confronts Lavos in the Ocean Palace of the Kingdom of Zeal as a result of the rescue mission, he sacrifices himself to save everyone present. With time travel, his friends manage to replace Crono in the moment before he dies with a clone received from the Millennial Fair in 1000 A.D., however, instead of returning to his friends, he ended in a different place somehow; he had arrived to the Omniverse.
Starting Proficiencies (2000): Physical Strength (1000), Debuff (1000)

Starting Powers (1900/8000): Master Acrobat (400), Foresight (1500)

Starting Moves (600):

Nameless Katana - 300 OM
(Requires P. Strength Proficiency)

The sharp weapon that Crono always keeps nearby at all times. The blade is pink and has a length of about 25 inches, while the hilt is of a gold color and has a blue cloth covering the handle. As mentioned before, the blade of this sword is quite sharp and made of a lightweight material that allows for fast, moderately-powered slashes. Cutting things like wood is no problem for this weapon and it can leave scratches on both boulders and steel, but it won't cut them until after several strikes.

Frenzy - 300 OM
(Requires P. Strength and Debuff Proficiency)

Crono's most powerful, non-magical, single technique. Using both his speed and swordsmanship, he leaps towards an opponent and lands next to them. Then, he circles around them by constantly sidestepping, confusing them as he also swings his weapon repeatedly against his target. Crono strikes a total of 5~7 times before he finally jumps away of the opponent. Although the damage output is decided by the weapon he's wielding, enemies will be left confused for about a minute or so, leaving them unable to target their attacks properly until it wears off. Crono will be left a tad exhausted for several seconds after this move is perform.

I confirm that I have read and agreed to the Rules of Conduct.

NEO HYPER Book Club #5 (30th July - When I Say)
Posted by: Daniel - 07-30-2017, 05:07 AM - Forum: Omniverse Discussion - Replies (9)

Welcome to the Omniverse Book Club! Here, we put up a new completed topic every fortnight to read and review. By participating you'll earn a bonus 250 OM (subject to change) and you'll be able to suggest a topic of your own for the next fortnight. Aside from the helpful feedback, subjects of the book club will receive a Great or Exemplary bonus for their storyline if they qualify. :omni:

RULES

OOC Rules of Conduct apply.

We encourage helpful, well-considered feedback with both positive and negative comments. Try to remember that not everyone is confident about their writing, and negative feedback can be highly discouraging.

Review Writing Guidelines

Reviews must be a minimum of 150 words and should include your opinion on whether the participating member(s) deserve a bonus or not, and if yes, then 'Great' or 'Exemplary', according to the Bonus Rewards Guidelines. Please don't consider this an arbitrary number to fill; this just filters out those reviews that were clearly made with no effort.

Topics may include writing from multiple members. Please try to give everyone included a decent review and individual grade.

Try to go into detail about what you liked and didn't like about an RP. Try to keep it objective and positive: it's absolutely not okay to just tear down someone else's work without saying anything good about it. The more detail the better, and the more effort you put into your reviews the more likely we are to choose one of your topics to review, as thanks for your help to other members.

Please do not skim. If we suspect people are skimming topics, we may have to be more stringent on requirements, which makes it harder on staff to enforce, and more difficult for you to write your review. If we suspect particular members are skimming, we may bar them from future participation in the book club. This is free OM, so it's in everyone's best interest to keep it that way.

As far as grading goes, please be non-partisan. If you think your friend's topic truly merits Exemplary, awesome. But if we notice people constantly doing this and we consistently disagree with the gradings, we'll weigh your opinion far less than those who tend to give accurate gradings consistent with the Bonus Rewards Guidelines.

REWARDS

Book Club rewards will be awarded at the end of each fortnight, although it might take a while to get updated. Until you see a post in this topic saying "It was updated", it's safe to say you weren't missed or forgotten; we just haven't gotten around to it yet. No need to remind us. Smile

We will give the reward to the account you posted on, unless you request otherwise.

Those trying to become judges should note that Book Club reviews do count towards your total.

Book Club threads will run for two weeks. They will end on Sunday at 17:59pm AEST (Australian Eastern Standard Time), which is 7:59am GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) Sunday Morning. The next Book Club thread should be up by 6pm AEST (8am GMT)

Submissions

If you are submitting a thread for the Book Club review/grading please use this form after your review of the current thread. You're welcome, and encouraged to submit any completed topics or multi-topic storylines of your own that have yet to be graded and exceed 4000 words.

where doing this man

where making this happen

Okay this will inevitably be awful for Yuuka, but I'm totally down with it, it's in character, and I'm not going to learn my lesson by sitting around doing nothing. So officially commence Nexus fight challenge.

I think we were going for standard rules- 800 WC, 48 Hours, 3 Rounds- unless Syn would like to change anything, in which case I don't mind.
