Roaming Charges
#1
"Well, this isn't at all what I was expecting when I got up this morning." Gin muttered as he looked around the white void that was the nexus, taking in the view. "But then again, I doubt many people expect to be teleported to a place like this by an omnipotent silhouette." He leans back against the fountain he materialized next to.

Suddenly, something in the distance catches Gin's eye. He squints, trying to make out what the object is. What could it be? A way out of this place perhaps? Gin stood up, feeling pumped. "Right, let's get this adventure started!" Gin breaks into a run, excited to see what experiences this new world would bring.

Running. Running. Running. Just how far away was this thing anyway? Gin slowed and came to a halt, feeling exhausted from running all this way. "Jeeze, when I saw it from the fountain...I figured it wasn't that far away since I could see it." He says, short of breath. "And that thing still looks about as far away as it was before!" Gin fell to his knees, he needed a break.

A soft growl comes from his stomach. "Oh right, I forgot." he pauses, "I was going to eat when I got back from the mission this morning." Gin lowers his head and sighs in defeat. "If only I could make a sandwich appear like magic."

Gin stops and thinks about what he just said. "Magic...What was it that white guy said again?" Gin concentrates, trying to remember what he was told just before arriving in The Nexus. A black void, a grinning silhouette, telling him rules about the place he is in now.

That's it! That's the answer to his predicament! Gin closed his eyes, concentrating hard on what he wanted most at the moment.

After concentrating for several minutes, Gin opens his eyes. "It worked!" he said with a smile. Just as the silhouette said, what Gin desired had appeared in front of him. A BLT. "WOOHOO!" He grabs the sandwich, and begins chowing down.

Gin swallows the last of his sandwich. "Aaah, I haven't had food that good since the Monsus showed up two years ago."

He stands back up, feeling refreshed and ready to go. "Now for that exit!" he said with renewed vigor. Gin begins his trek to the gate anew, thinking about what would await him on the other side of it. Would it be a place like Earth? The colony? It could even be a whole other planet just waiting to be explored! Just the thought of that made Gin excited. His dream of exploring parts unknown was finally happening! He broke out into a run, he had to get there soon. He needed to speed up!

Suddenly, he did just that. Gin felt a sudden burst of speed, moving faster than he ever could before. Lasting for only a second, but enough to make significant progress in his trek across the Nexus. He stopped dead in his tracks, "What the heck was that?" he wondered. He was sure he felt a sudden burst of speed a moment ago. Could he do it again?

Gin broke into a run again, this time focusing on what he felt just before that burst of speed. He felt something build up inside him, and finally, it happened again. Gin sped forward, just as fast as before, before coming to a stop soon after. "This place must have an effect on the people who come here. I wonder what else I can do?"

Gin proceeds to punch and kick the air, attempting to see if something would happen. "Hmm, nothing. Maybe I can jump higher?" He tries to jump, and to his surprise, he rises up 10 meters into the air. "This is amazing! I can see everything from up here!" he cheered excitedly.

As Gin admired the view, he came to a startling realization. He was falling. "Wait a minute, I DON'T KNOW HOW TO LAND YET!" he screamed.

This was going to hurt.

Gin hit the ground, landing flat on his chest with the wind knocked out of him. "Ow..." he managed to say. He turned over onto his back and laid there waiting for the pain to go away. "Let's not do that again." he thought to himself. After a few minutes the pain subsided and he sat up, looking himself over for injuries. "Looks like I'm fine, I guess being able to jump high lets me survive the fall back down. Good to know."

Gin stood up, feeling a bit sore from the fall. "But I guess, like a normal jump, not landing on my feet is still gonna hurt." he sighed. "Anyway, where was I? Oh yeah! That gate!"

Gin turned towards the gate, he's made significant progress since he started the run over here. He could finally make out the details on the gate. It was made out of some sort of grey stone, covered in thick dark moss. Something about it seemed off, but Gin wasn't going to let that stop him now after coming all this way. After all, what's an adventure without taking a few risks?

Gin continued walking, preparing for whatever may await him on the other side. Finally, he reached the gate.

"Alright, here we go." he said to himself, albeit a bit nervous. He took a step forward, into the gate, and into his newest adventure.
