Rand wished he had brought a wool coat. He had known from the ice on the door in The Nexus that what was beyond would be cold, but this was just madness. He had no idea what he would do once night fell and the temperature inevitably dropped even lower. He rubbed his heron-marked palms together for warmth for what seemed like the thousandth time. Wait! Heron-markings and warmth gave him an idea.
Rand internally scolded himself for not realizing that he could make his flaming sword appear. He wrapped himself in the Void and drank in saidin's sickeningly warm power and the flaming sword burst into being. He held the sword closer to himself than he normally would, allowing his body to absorb the heat it gave off. Then, crack, the ice underneath him melted and he fell.

Rand looked up at the hole above where he was laying, he must have fallen at least 30 feet! After assuring himself nothing was broken, he sat up and stared in awe at his surroundings. He was in some sort of underground cavern with a slight uphill slope, which could very easily translate to a way out of here. However, the fact that there was possibly a quick way out of here wasn't what had him breathless. What had him breathless was the eight feet by eight feet sheets of ice, each out lined by stone. These ice sheets were so polished, Rand could see his reflection on either side from where he sat in the middle of the cave.
Rand forced himself to his feet and walked towards the right side of the cave and stared at his reflection. Suddenly Rand's reflection showed a tall, middle-aged man with shoulder-length brown and white hair and a neatly trimmed brown beard standing directly behind him. Rand didn't need to think who this man was, for some part of him instantly knew who the man behind him in his reflection was.
"Hello Lews Therin Kinslayer," Rand said coolly.
"Now, now," Lews Therin Telamon soothed, "There is no need for such formalities, you can just refer to me as myself."
"What do you want?" Rand inquired irritably.
"I am merely here to pass along a message," The older man explained, "You will be visited by people from your-our past as you look into these mirrors. Friendly faces will give you hints, whereas enemies and rivals will attack you. Simple enough?"
"Why?" Rand asked, "What is even going on here? You have been dead for three thousand years. How are you communicating with me?"
"I am not sure of that myself," Lews Therin replied shrugging his shoulders, "There are forces at work here beyond my comprehension. Oh yes! Before I go here's your hint, the next one you see shall be the one who loved us too much for her own good."
And just like that, as quickly as he had appeared Lews Theirn Telamon, The Dragon, First Among Servants, Lord of the Morning, was gone.

"Loved us too much for our own...Lanfear!" Rand realized with a gulp. If I don't look in the mirrors, perhaps she can't appear, He thought turning his gaze away from the ice mirror and toward the snow in front of him. He started to move as quickly as he could through the snow, at about the halfway point he hesitantly glanced over his shoulder and she jumped out from one of the mirrors.
She is a tall, beautiful woman just short of middle-age with dark eyes, long dark eyelashes and pitch black hair. Lanfear strode angrily towards Rand in her long white dress belted with silver moons. "You should know by now you can not escape me Lews Therin," She said, "Even in this world you can not escape my love for you."
"You don't love me," Rand spat while he embraced saidin, "You love power." She was 10 yards away, but he was ready. "Die!" He shouted in anger that wasn't his, bringing lightning down on her, and sending himself flying backwards in the process.
He saw the blinding light of the lightning bolt he struck her with and her shattering, like the ice mirror she had come from would, and then he must have blacked out when he hit his head on another mirror because he saw nothing.
