Alex reporting in here for Dark Link.
We're sliding into springtime shenanigans, with nefarious chips and other events forming on the horizon. In the meantime, let's take a pause to celebrate what we enjoyed about March, which saw the conclusion of the Assault on Darkshire and the start of Elfailzalot's Dark Data story saga.
For those of you who are unaware, the Accolades involve nominating (and later, voting for) those who have outdone themselves in a particular area each month. For variety's sake, the categories for each month may be different.
You have until April 12th to nominate your choices. After that, we will proceed to the voting phase where members will vote among the two individuals with the most nominations for each category. An exception to this is if someone manages to get 5+ more nominations than the runner-up, in which case that person becomes the winner by default.
If you wish to participate, think of who stood out the most in a particular category this month and post your choice, along with a 2-3 sentence long explanation, in this thread. You are not barred from nominating your own characters/threads, nor do you have to fill out all the categories.
The winners will become this month's "Community Stars". And what benefits does this bring? Here is an explanation, courtesy of Alex:
(07-26-2016, 11:34 AM)Alex Wrote: As part of being voted as a Community Star/User of the Month (I use the terms interchangeable mainly because Community Star is less formal-sounding than User of the Month), these members gain a color (you must select this in your User CP) and access to the Omni-World R&D forum. In the past this was my pseudo-private forum, but it's now a place for myself and others to discuss the Omniverse. This is also the meeting place/brainstorming area for Story Aides and Story Guides, so for all intents and purposes, winning an accolade lets you become a pseudo-Story Aide for the duration of your reign.
Forum access is for the month following a member's selection as a Community Star, and this is irregardless of which 'accolade' you were selected for.
As an experimental aside -- anyone who nominates and then votes (ie - participates in this entire process) will have their rest points restored at the conclusion of this selection process.
And the categories are:
‘Best’ Character – Which character has you engaged the most?
‘Best’ Writer – Which writer wowed you the most?
Most Helpful – A staffer or a member who gave you amazing feedback on a story or was simply there to help you sort out some of your problems.
Rising Star – Which up-and-coming member stands at the crème of the crop? (must have joined within the last month and a half or have less than 8000 OM)
'Best' Story – What story did you find most riveting/entertaining? (For the sake of giving smaller threads a chance to shine, Dante's Abyss is automatically excluded from the running)
'Best' NPC – What non-player character (can be a site, personal, or story NPC) entertained you the most (for whatever reason). Please note who the 'owner' of said NPC is, just in case I am not familiar with them.
Purple Ribbon - Consider this a bonus category for nominating someone who, while they may not be the best and have all the twitter followers, you believe deserves to be recognized for what they bring the the Omniverse. (The winner must be a DIFFERENT person than last month's winner; the January winner was Elfailzalot)

This thread needs a bump! Cmon folks, get your nominees ready!
‘Best’ Character – I have been reading allot of Dr.Doom's stories. He gets my vote this month
‘Best’ Writer – Enel shooting Jawa's had me in tears of laughter. Enel gets my nomination.
Most Helpful – Mark made me Batman....He cannot get enough votes for this!
Rising Star – -still reading-
'Best' Story – still reading-
'Best' NPC –-still reading-
Purple Ribbon - Giving Cell a nomination due to his chat shenanigans. Who doesn't like seeing that green monster threatening to drink everyone.

Best character: I'm gonna give it to zedd. May not the most frequent poster, but its a blast every time, and other writers can play off of him quite easily.
Best writer: l will have to say that this one goes to illidan/Jim. The guy knows how his characters think.
Most helpful: it's actually spur again for me. He's been doing a bunch of the bonus calculation stuff. We see you there.
Rising star: pride. I will always support fullmetal, and I am intruiged by how he chose to deal with the Bradley connection.
Best NPC: Carmelita's robot that was at Dr. Regal's meeting. I don't remember its name but it was cool.
Best story: I think more people should be reading between two cities with malon, Carmelita and dawn's NPC Sera. I like how there are two different storylines happening in one thread but woven together so seamlessly that it totally works.
Purple ribbon: i will second the cell support. Why not.
If history is to become legend, it first must be recorded.

‘Best’ Character – Jacket.
‘Best’ Writer – Enel, for Operation Desert Storm. I'll mention that I like his first-person present-tense writing, it comes off very natural.
Most Helpful – Omni is really pulling his weight recently, not resting on his laurels
Rising Star - Batman
'Best' Story – King Ghidorah's Human Diplomacy Quest
'Best' NPC – Vision's NPCs in the Jarvis Chronicles thread
Purple Ribbon - Tearen Wover, for playing as Drake in the Westside thread, it was very entertaining.

‘Best’ Character – Harlan Higgs has been someone that's maintained my interest, which is pretty big praise from someone who reads everyone's stuff.
‘Best’ Writer – Jade Harley. She infuses her words with so much character and zest, it's really worth reading every single sentence in detail.
Most Helpful – Daddy Ganny D (Cell) has been super eager to help out the younglings and oldlings alike. Old habits die hard, I guess.
Rising Star – Arle. Explosive writer with some serious characterization chops. Will be watching closely.
'Best' Story – Between Two Cities, full stop. This is an absolute must-read, and all of the authors involved should be very proud.
'Best' NPC – What non-player character (can be a site, personal, or story NPC) entertained you the most (for whatever reason). Please note who the 'owner' of said NPC is, just in case I am not familiar with them.
Purple Ribbon – Luci/Harry is always a pleasure to gab with, and the site is made better by her presence.
And, we dream of home I dream of life out of here Their dreams are small My dreams don't know fear I got my heart full of hope I will change everything No matter what I'm told How impossible it seems We did it before And we'll do it again We're indestructible Even when we're tired And we've been here before Just you and I
Don't try to rescue me I don't need to be rescued

'Best' Writer - 'Arry Pottah. I was tempted to nominate her for Best NPC, but I realized it's not just her NPCs that are amazing, but it's her humor that gets me every time.
Highlights:
"Marla!" he cried angrily, "You can't just ignore me!"
Marla just ignored him.
...with his new friend, Hnaaag the albino dreadlocked Wookie, sketching Quidditch plays in the sand.
Tom crumpled to the floor as the broom rose at an alarming speed into his crotch...

Just gonna vote for those I feel qualified to vote for.
Most Helpful – Cell/Jeff. Killin' it in the quick questions thread.
Rising Star – Arle Nadja impressed me with the first-try join approval, getting up to 6000 in only a few days! And being active in the chatbox.
Purple Ribbon - Ahhh, I'm really tied. I'd like to add everyone who posted in that topic of mine in the Monk's Cafe, but since there can be only one ... I'll instead vote Zenith for taking a ban in his stride and being chill about it ^^'
Curious about me and the characters I play? See the 'Staff' page! See also the rosters for my characters Samus Aran or Enel if you'd like to see examples of well-formatted rosters. Hope you enjoy the Omniverse!

Best Character - Harlan Higgs. This is such an amusing, spooky character. Kudos for making the vampirism thing super unique, dude!
Most Helpful - Cell has been answering almost all of the quick questions! It's kind of awesome.
Best Story - King Ghidorah's Human Diplomacy quest [link - ( x)]. I graded this and it was super entertaining, not at all what I expected anyone to ever submit for that quest, tbh.
Purple Ribbon - Omni! He's really gettin' back on the ole horse. If the Omniverse was, y'know... a horse.

BC: Warren Zimmer. He's got a pretty unique character concept. I'm eager to see what direction he takes his Quarterback of Chaos in.
BW: My vote goes to Trixie. Partially because I'm in a thread with her and so am obligated to read her work, but also because Joe is just a fantastic writer and his plethora of NPCs actually improve the story instead of bogging it down.
MH: Omni. Dude came back and buckled down on rule improvements like a boss. Bad Dude #2 is stepping up and ya'll should be thankful.
RS: Dr. Doom. He might change characters like other folks change underwear, but whenever he picks a character he goes all in with them.
BS: Tearen is killing it in the Underverse. Can't wait to see him make it out. So I can drink him.
BNPC: Davidson Kunler and his bad-ass Omni and Pals webcomic. (Guu)
PR: Desman Black. He nutted up and accepted a fight with me. Win or lose, this will be a great learning experience for him and he has my respect.

Moving on to voting this evening.
Even if you haven't read as much this month, you can still vote for at least two of those categories so no excuses.

"Best" charater vote: Zedd
Purple ribbon vote: Cell
Yuuka Kazami es is like that one meme like... "How many levels of Omniverse are you on?"
Revan Noctis : Desman what are you currently doing in the omniverse?
Desman Black: I'm faking an engagement to a sex deamon to stop two samurai I accidently summoned whipping them in half, while also trying to stop them from doing the same thing to my best freind who is currently having relations with said deamon, and wh has now accidently summoned his previous girlfreind. So you know... normal stuff

Character - Jacket. I have already voted for Harlan and Zedd, and I wanna wait a little while to see more doom.
Writer - Enel, but there were a lot of good contenders.
Star -Batman. I like Batman. He could have made his first post nothing but him screaming MARTHA in the Nexus fountain and I would still vote for him.
Story - Human Diplomacy. One of the funnest things I've ever read.
NPC - Vision
Ribbon - Tearan, not just because of him playing a really fun NPC but also because this dude has been clawing his way out of the underverse.

I just want to pop in and say that this means a lot to me. I work hard on my NPC's to make sure that they all exist fluidly around my characters in a way that isn't choking to the story.

Writer - I'm going to say Trixie. Trixysnax keeps on writing excellent content despite the hardships she faces writes. It's just commendable as a whole.
Star - Arle. A new member that has definitely become One of uuus. One of uuuuus. One of uuuus.
