Once more into the breach.
Regardless of whether or not she actually wanted to be there, Trixie scrounged up the motivation to take this assignment seriously. It was blatantly clear that she and her team were just tools on a tool belt to be used, and discarded when broken. Trixie was breaking. Recurring nightmares about her time in the Underverse, the guilt of leaving Sia and Argento behind, plus the burden of knowing that now and forever she was a pawn of Diablo and the Emperor. At that thought a laugh emanated from no where.
“You think you serve all of them? You serve me, Apprentice.” Marka Ragnos’ voice pierced her mind.
The red-headed Sith Warrior shut her eyes tight. Before the empty void of her mind was Ragnos’ figure floating before her.
“I have a task. Should you accomplish it I will topple your faux Emperor. I will drown this Underverse in Diablo’s blood. For I, Marka Ragnos, the one true Sith God, has no equal.”
With those thunderous words he vanished, one phrase echoing as her vision through the helmet HUD focussed once more. “You have your assignment, soldier.”
It was a tall order, but Trixie liked the sound of it. Even just replacing the Emperor with Marka Ragnos was pleasing to her troubled mind. The pilot of the transport came over the radio and announced that they were seconds out from the Tier 1 gate into the Nexus. Guard Captain Trudeau was her contact for the mission. Grabbing her WESTAR Assault Rifle, Pistol, and the Darksaber, the mistress moved to the door and prepared herself as the ship lowered itself onto the landing pad. Tossing her cloak aside, Mistress Zulenka secured her darksaber to her right forearm. Her commando armor latched it in place and the sabre came up on her HUD as ‘melee’. Strapping her holstered pistol to a thigh she picked up assault rifle and slid an ammo clip out of her belt. Pressing the button on the side it expanded and she slid it into the bottom of the weapon. After a quick rotate the rifle was live and ready to shoot; the transport door slid open and a green light illuminated the passenger area.
This was it.
Lieutenant Zulenka stepped down off the hovering transport and sprinted through the Nexus gate. Immediately she entered a chaotic environment. A green and yellow being was running amok, dodging incoming fire from the Stormtroopers as he made his way across the ranks, incapacitating soldiers as he went. As Trixie entered range a silent message was sent to the surrounding troopers in the area telling them to fall back to the gate.
3...2…
The targeting reticule was yellow as Trixie followed the green combatant through the sights of her rifle.
One.
With an audible sound the HUD locked onto the reptile looking thing and she squeezed the trigger, unleashing a barrage of fire that sprayed over his shoulder. Without missing a beat she adjusted and emptied the remainder into center mass. The entity turned to face the target that had actually managed to hit him and grinned.
“I applaud actually having the marksmanship to…”
He didn’t get to finish his words. Trixie had cycled the empty energy cell, opened fire, and was steadily marching toward him. The green being had been forced to cut his sentence short in order to bend out of the way. He retaliated in kind, launching his own energy blasts with reckless abandon for whether or not he hit the obvious commando unit advancing on him. Trixie sprinted right, tossing an empty energy cell onto the floor, loading her last one into the weapon. The enemy prime followed her lead and circled in the opposite direction, his energy blasts hitting the rounds emptying from the weapon. The two were just about at melee range when the last drum cell exhausted itself. Without missing a beat Trixie flipped her rifle around and swung it like a bat, connecting with a readied forearm. The weapon broke upon impact. Trixie’s enemy capitalized on this and brought a knee up, connecting with her stomach.
There was no sound. The two grappled warriors held their position silently. Trixie’s mouth turned up into a grin behind her helmet as she kicked off the floor using the force, rolled her body clockwise, and hooked her left leg bringing the green creature with her. They both fell to the floor, the antagonist pinned under Zulenka’s legs. Rolling backward, head under heels, she let her pistol drop from her thigh holster and into her readied hand.
“Good to know there is someone actually worthy of my attention here in the Omniverse.” Cell said with a laugh as he rose to his feet, brushing off his torso.
Trixie squeezed off four shots, but the green reptilian creature deflected them easily around his body. Straightening her posture the mistress sheathed her pistol and sighed behind her helmet.
“I am Lieutenant Trixie Zulenka of the Imperial Special Forces. Stand down your assault on the Nexus Gate and surrender yourself to answer for your infractions.” She said through her helmet’s voice module.
The creature laughed, it’s tail curling around from side to side.
“Thank you for at least telling me the name of my would be opponent. I am Cell. As for surrendering? I’m afraid I can’t do that.”
Almost immediately a new popup on her HUD flashed with ‘New Prime Registry’ and his basic information was recorded visually and stored in her database for later.
“Tch…” Trixie scowled, her face hidden by the ARC Trooper helmet.
With a powerful flex of her legs she rocketed forward with an immense push of the force and the two combatants collided. Cell with his genetically programmed fighting instinct and Trixie with her particular form of unarmed Juyo combat.
