Quote:This is the OOC thread for the Windfall Island IC thread in the Vasty Deep.
Please read the below for further info.
Information about Windfall Island
General Information
Windfall Island is about 30 miles (48 km) from Costa del Sol and thus, while not completely cut off, is relatively secluded. The empire originally took interest in this location due to a vein of silver ore that was discovered, but after mining most of it out the mine was abandoned. The idea was to leave Windfall island as a whole, however many people who had moved to the island to work as miners or support them (farmers, merchants etc) decided to stay.
Due to its location it offers a good port for traveling merchants who navigate the Vasty Deep’s ocean but cannot dock at Costa del Sol (for instance due to troubles with the empire) to resupply, buy and sell their wares and repair their ships in the relative absence of the imperial customs and Navy forces. While not as big a hotspot as the larger islands and Costa del Sol itself, the free trade affords the citizens of Costa del Sol a happy, though not luxurious, lifestyle.
Though the silver ore is almost completely mined out, Windfall Island offers other resources, most notably rich earth that allows for crop-growing and the aquatic fauna which lets fishermen to catch a wide variety of fish from the docks and offshore. As a result it offers enough resources to maintain a small population self-sufficiently while leftover resources are traded in for outside goods.
Windfall Island is notable for the special rules voted on by the citizens: in order to avoid destruction of the island’s beautiful but fragile ecosystem there are hard limitations imposed on things such as hunting and fishing, treecutting and building as well as polluting the air, ground and water. As a result the technology on the island has developed to be a weird mixture of modern tech powered by renewable energies and steam- or muscle-powered machinery. Fossile fuels, among others, are completely forbidden. While this means that the efficiency of Windfall Island’s industries is far behind those of Coruscant the quality of the products is many times higher. Maybe it’s Omniverse physics?
Despite the healthy lifestyle thanks to the physical exercise coupled with the modern medicine available through the merchants, not many Secondaries (let alone Primes) choose to live on Windfall Island due to the severity of the rules and the lack of comfort and luxury offered by the more modern and prosperous Costa del Sol, Coruscant, Dalaran or Minas Tirith. The population of the island is fairly small, to the point where most people know each other by their first names. The regularly held community festivals further tighten these bonds.
Silverrock Town
Named due to the vein of silver ore that had been found beneath the island and, Silverrock Town started out as the lodging area for the miners. After the mining operation was finished and the area was abandoned those who remained behind rebuilt it into what is today known as Silverrock Town. While it is not the sole area where people live (there’s a few lodges, farmhouses and encampments) the vast majority have their home somewhere in the town area.
Silverrock town is built near the docks where the ships come and go, providing paved alleyways for them to drive wagons with their products up to the stalls and shops around the city center. It acts as the central point for visitors who intend to go further on the island or coming back from there.
The Town organizes a variety of festivals, contests and other events throughout the year that bring the community closer together and are great fun for its population – perfect to get to know newcomers. Both these events and the residents’s birthdays are publicly displayed at the bulletin board.
Locations in Silverrock Town:
Bar/Casino: Owned by Ozal.
The Bar is a spacious three-story bar and grill, with a gambling floor available. There is a respectable selection of food and drink from most of the Omniverse, but you're not going to find Klopkaan Berry Schnapps from the Tangled Green every day. Ozal mans the bar, serving drinks and chatting with customers.
General store: Owned by Kaylee Furon.
The General store is a medium sized building. The first room is Kaylee's shop, with access to her personal home behind the counter. It stocks a variety of items, including silverware and other small household items, groceries - fish, meat, vegetables etc. which Kaylee buys from the fishermen, hunters and farmers on the island - and weaponry like swords, daggers and bows.
Library: "Owned" by Melody.
The Library, called the Rune Archives, is technically owned by the town but Melody is entrusted with taking care of it. The townspeople can rent books for free from a broad selection, though over three quarters of the books are "government approved" by the Empire as the library used to be part of the mining operation. The library relies on donations or help from the citizens to be kept in shape.
Merchant Stalls: Owned/rented by various.
The Merchant Stalls are located near the city center and form a colorful assortment of small and medium stalls where those who can't afford a shop or aren't staying for long can sell their wares for a modest rent to the town. While there are rules and limitations on the type of items that may be sold it rarely comes to that point, except maybe for the shadier figures that visit Silverrock Town to sell items that would spell trouble with the imperial customs of Costa del Sol.
Samuel Lariss has a stall here where he prepares and sells his food.
Police Precinct: Owned by the town.
The Precinct is the police headquarters for the small police force of Windfall Island. It's arguably the most secure building in town as it used to be the imperial mining operation's administrative building where all the bigwigs stayed at and thus needed to be fortified. Its massive walls of reinforced concrete, the barbed wire on the roof and sims, the bars before all windows and the asphalt ground around it make it more of a bastion than a building, and quite intimidating. It also has a vault for holding sensitive data and a cellar big enough to hold up to 50 people for a week in a pinch, should Windfall Island ever be ravaged by a hurricane, tornado or other catastrophe. Jack Jensen is the only police force in town currently, and next to the mayor is the only person holding all the keys.
Tinkerer's Workshop: Owned by Karax.
[Placeholder until I know what to write here]
(more examples of vacant spots)
-Clinic/doctor’s office
-Museum
-Blacksmith
-Town Mayor (NPC)
-Church (a "general purpose" church with multiple areas for people to each practice their own religion)
Silverrock Town: Residential Area
There is no single residential area in Silverrock Town, really. There are shops intermixed with homes, and in the commercial areas many shopkeepers have their apartments above their workplaces. Thus the "residential area" cannot be clearly defined on a map.
People who have a dedicated house in Silverrock Town (not by their workplace):
Samuel Lariss, Artom.
The plains
The plains are, for a lack of a better word, all the areas that aren't covered by the other areas named of Windfall Island. They are vast, expansive landscapes with irregular surfaces, hills and valleys, copses and rivers. Most pathways going to and from Silverrock Town from and to the various areas on the island such as the docks or the mines traverse the plains at some point. Most farms are placed somewhere on the plains of Windfall island.
Jack Jensen's farm: Jack owns a small farm just outside of Silverrock Village, but not quite at Paradise Bay. It includes a small house, a shed, a silo, and a good sized field, all just off the trail between the two destinations.
Paradise Bay
Paradise Bay is a large, almost circular bay located on the south side of Windfall Island and at a relatively short walk from Silverrock Town. It used to be the docking area for the large cargo ships that transported goods and silver for the mining operation, but overall its ecosystem remains well preserved.
Paradise Bay has a large population of small to medium fish and crabs, making it a good location for net and rod fishing from a small boat or from the headlands. A beach of white sand extends around the bay, tapering off near the two headlands where it gives way to cliffs.
Beneath the cliffs the entrance to the Bay of Raisins is filled with strange currents that keep the water mostly circulating within the bay, where it is warmed throughout the day by the shining sun and thus creates a great area to swim. The currents also frequently wash up corals, shells and all sorts of junk. While the currents can displace careless swimmers they are not as treacherous as in many other spots and do not constitute a danger so long as one stays away from the jagged cliffs.
The two headlands are bare of trees and windswept. A small part of the rockface has been dug out to provide a sheltered haven for lights to help guide boats in during storms or at night. This is mostly a backup however as a modern lighthouse was built after these shelters. The lighthouse’s greater potency means that it is used as the primary guide to ships.
Thomas is the only person that enjoys the privilege of having a spot on the docks reserved for him. The catch is that because it's a rather large spot to fit his sizable ship it is the preferred location for imperial navy ships to dock at when they send someone to collect taxes, deliver official mail, inspect the mayor's bookkeeping and so on. If his spot is taken even by an inconspicuous-looking ship (the Imperial Navy likes to disguise their ships to catch the unsuspecting by surprise) Thomas will know to be wary if he docks there.
The Cyan Cliffs
Extending round clockwise from Paradise Bay, the Cyan Cliffs are filled with nesting seabirds and small, tiny beaches in coves protected by terrible shoals.
The Cyan Cliffs are, unsurprisingly, cyan, coloured by some unknown force. While that blue stone can be found across the island, at the cliffs it is most obvious. The sand here is just as pale as the beach in Paradise Bay and is mostly untouched thanks to the difficulty getting there. Shipwrecks and the potential for bird eggs does make abseiling down the cliffs an attractive prospect for some of Silverrock Town‘s youth.
The cliffs shelter the island as a whole from the worst of storms coming from that direction, but when they do glowing lights can be seen rising from that part of the island. No one has yet found any proven explanation, though all sorts of theories from scientific („The salinity in the air buffeting against the cliffs causes a chemical reaction“) to supernatural („The blue stone is magically infused and protects the island“) have been established.
Rufus Dellarosa has a secondary home in a hidden cove on the cliffs.
The Forest
West of Silverrock is what’s simply called the „forest“, or sometimes „Windfall forest“. This thick mysterious forest grows abundantly thanks to the rich earth and the trees, when cut, provide high-quality wood. In addition the forest offers many opportunities for foraging and hunting. The deeper one ventures into the forest, the more untouched it is and as a result the greater the potential gains are. However the animals dislike being disturbed and do not take kindly to intruders.
Rufus Dellarosa has his main home somewhere deep within the forest.
The Mines
The mines, whose main entrance is located on the side of the mountains to the north of Silverrock Town, were abandoned after the mining operation was declared finished. Ore deposits, especially of silver ore, do remain though – just not in quantities and accessibility that would justify the continuation of the mining operation. The underground passages created to mine out the precious ore is connected to naturally formed mines and have allowed all sorts of underground critters to spill into the manmade mineshafts, though they are warded away by light sources, allowing for relatively undisturbed mining if one brings along a sufficiently potent lamp. Alternatively, brave adventurers can head down there for some monster hunting.
Mt. Silver
Directly north of Silverrock Town is Mt. Silver, owing its name to the silver ore that once was within. It’s a relatively large mountain considering the small size of Windfall Island, and is rumored to be a dormant volcano, which would explain the rich minerals found in the earth of the island.
Mt. Silver Hotsprings & Bathhouse
In a cavern in the side of Mt. Silver is a Hotspring with incredibly rich mineral water that rejuvenates the body and spirit and is occasionally used to brew drinks. It forms the primary tourist attraction, especially from Coruscant, though even so the actual number of tourists is very minor. The Hotsprings have been built into a Bathhouse which is a little way off from Silverrock Town but has good access.
The Bathhouse is run by Melody, though there's not a lot to do because the water runs through the cracks in the rock and thus the springwater is regularly refreshed and stays clean. There are several smaller pools with varying degrees of heat and three relatively large pools. They are divided into three areas by rocks and wooden walls that Melody has built herself, or enlisted the aid of the other citizens of Silverrock Town to build. These areas can only be accessed from the main entrance. One is for men only, one for women only and one is for the mixed baths, allowing both genders. They're clearly marked with blue, pink and white curtains respectively.
The cavern entrance has a wooden structure with a door built around it that allows Melody to control who gets in and out. There's a deposit box for payments, a till where Melody is on busy days to collect the entry fee and, if necessary, hand out towels, bathing suits and other items for rent or purchase.
The Hotspring's waters are
Rocky Plateau
The top of Mt. Silver is a large flat expanse known as Rocky Plateau. It constitutes the highest point of Windfall Island and offers a panoramic view in every direction, as well as forming the most recognizable landmark of the island – it can even be seen from Costa del Sol on clear days. Rocky Plateau also has several small rivers which merge into the pair of large, nameless rivers that split the island up and provide fresh water along with the wells.
Inspector Gordon
![[Image: latest?cb=20120211061957]](http://vignette4.wikia.nocookie.net/battlefield/images/f/ff/Agent_Gordon_-_Comrades.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20120211061957)
As Windfall Island is under imperial legislation Inspector Gordon regularly visits to inspect that its people are abiding the law. He also inspects the mayor's office, the police precinct etc. and has the authority to hand out and withdraw licenses such as for Ozal's bar or fishing permits at his discretion, and overrule any rules not compliant with imperial laws. Despite this he has some tolerance for errors and cuts the citizens some slack if they cannot always and perfectly follow the laws.
While not necessarily a bad person he takes his work seriously. Attempts at bribery or telling him how to do his job are the fastest way to get on his bad side - although he insists that he is not working against the Silverrock Town citizens. His attempts at making friends with the people on his brief appearances usually fail because they suspect him to be feigning friendliness to trick them into letting down their guard. He is, however, not treated too coldly either. All in all, he's a decent man and Windfall Island could be off much worse with a more severe Inspector.
Mayor Thomas:
[No picture yet]
The elected mayor of Silverrock Town. Thomas is a very friendly individual who manages to both uphold a good image of himself as a mayor and a person while not coming off as a cold bureaucrat. He is in charge of the town's events, as well as legislation such as taxes and laws.
Thomas once worked in Coruscant and was temporarily in charge of one of the districts, prior to being replaced. This job has earned him much experience that he now puts to use in Silverrock. Almost everyone likes him as he is friendly and leads a fair rule for everyone regardless of their species, gender and background.
Merchants:
There are many merchants sailing the Vasty Deep oceans, and many of them stop at Windfall Island sometime or another. Ranging from occasional, one-time visitors to regulars, they have very varied views on the island's population. Some consider them to be a great community and have even expressed their desire to settle on the island some day, while others seem to think of them either as cash cows that they can squeeze out with overpriced goods, or as people who must either be insane or hiding from the law to live on such a place when they could live in Costa del Sol. And just like their views on the citizens vary, they are recieved in all sorts of ways by the inhabitants of Silverrock Town.
Navy Troopers & Officiers:
The imperial Navy occasionally stops at Windfall Island for "routine checks", which includes a quick-sweep inspection similar to Inspector Gordon's but much less thorough, checking for prisoners or exiles that are to be returned to the mainland or to Impel Down, verifying verdicts and if necessary calling for a judge from the mainland to hold court again, verifying that all citizens are registered, and so on. A few times some ships have dropped anchor simply for shore leave, which creates a one-time high in demand of lodging, alcohol and warm food and a large influx of imperial credits that in turn can be exchanged for silver coins at the town hall if so desired.
Sister Catherina:
[No picture yet]
Sister Catherina lives in the Church and acts as both a priestess to Omniists (the religion believing that Omni is a god) and as a pastor that takes confessions from anyone regardless of their religious beliefs. She also gives out free food to the least fortunate on the island, collected from donations of visitors and from the Town's taxes.
Her cheerful and motherly behavior make her an almost universally appreciated figure on Windfall Island. It certainly helps that she does not attempt to force her beliefs on anyone, actively or passively, and that she believes that Omni would not punish those who don't believe in him. She believes in that everyone chooses their own path, wherever it may lead, and that there is no single right one.
For "church business" such as weddings and burial ceremonies she keeps one copy of each book of religion in storage and is decently versed in each, though not an expert. Furthermore she holds a ceremony each Sunday at 9:00, taking around one and a half hours.
Tourists:
Windfall Island is not the greatest tourist attraction, but its history as a former mining colony, its idyllic and preserved landscape, the rustic-mixed-with-modern feel of Silverrock Town, the hotsprings and the myths and stories surrounding the various locations, most notably the Cyan Cliffs, make it a popular location to visit if one happens to be spending their vacation in Costa del Sol. Tourist ships sail back and forth between Windfall Island and Costa del Sol on the busy seasons and bring various groups from all over the Omniverse. An unproven story has it that Emperor Palpatine himself once visited the island accompaigned by his Space Marines, but these things tend to get blown out of proportion.
In either case, tourists do appear occasionally, often in groups and, much to the people's chagrin, they are often noisy, littering, trespassing and/or feel entitled. Some even believe that Windfall Island is an open-air museum rather than an actually inhabited island, and that its inhabitants are disguised actors. But luckily, there's also the good ones that are genuinely interested. Both those groups form a large source of income to Silverrock Town, primarily paying with imperial credits. A good chunk of the money earned usually goes right back into fixing their mess, though.
Rules
Note: Unfortunately none of the below rules are OOCly enforcable. You won't get warned, banned or restricted for breaking them (except for Rule 1 of course), but you'll make yourself look like an ass as a person. Do you really want that?
• It's still the Omniverse. The standart rules and limitations (in particular the max. number of playable Secondaries) apply as normal!
• Secondaries and Primes are both allowed, but playing a Secondary is encouraged. It is MORE THAN HIGHLY discouraged that you play your Player Prime - consider submitting an NPC Prime instead.
• If you want to play one of the public NPCs make a note of such in the thread when you start and finish using that NPC. Make sure that the NPC isn't being used by someone else to avoid clashes.
• If you play a Prime, keep summoning of items to a minimum. A single Prime could jack up the entire community's economy by summoning products that Secondaries must craft, forage or grow in minutes, and would effectively ruin the game.
• Be aware of your writing availability limitations. Depending on how big the thread gets, it might be a big commitment. There is no hard character limit besides how many secondaries you can play, but I personally recommend that you play only one character unless/until you are certain that you can reasonably play 2 or even more.
• Don't play an unapproved character on the island. Visiting is fine, but if you plan on playing a dedicated character please submit a form.
• Submit only characters out of your own canon or original/generic characters out of other canons or original ones.
• If you play a new character, don't have them poof into existence. Maybe they arrive with a ship, get washed up on the shore, come back from a prolonged trip in the mines etc. Or maybe they have always been there but just not worthy of note.
• Avoid major changes without the approval of all the involved. Earthquakes, meteorites, volcanic eruptions, zombie outbreaks... just don't. Please.
• PLEASE don't rampage on the island, don't destroy everything etc. If you want to let your destructive urges out, please do it somewhere else.
• In a similar vein, keep PvP combat to a minimum. An occasional bar fight is okay and you're free to hack n slash your way through the beasties in the forest or the mines, but this is not a battle arena for secondaries.
• Follow the IC rules. They could lead to your character being penalized or even banished off the island if you break them too often.
Special Rule on Time Advancement
Because Windfall Island has professions which take place at certain times - an example being the bar which is mostly in the evening, the church is mostly in the morning etc. - here's a few rules on the subject.
Note that Omniverse physics are primarily designed to justify different timespans between two events taking place in different threads. In the case of Windfall Island where a single thread holds most or all of the island's activity, continuity is more important. This is why time passes similar for everyone in that if it's 12PM for character A it should ideally be so for all other characters too.
How to do it:
Skipping ahead to another time of the day, or even the next day, is allowed on the following conditions:
• All characters that are active must have concluded their activity, or be in a situation where they won't really do much. If everyone is at their workplace, at home, on a prolonged walk or the like this would be the case.
• An exception can be made if one or more characters or character groups are dragging out the storyline and holding everyone else back, for instance because they're having a prolonged conversation. You can request that the people/groups either conclude their thing, or move it to a new thread to continue. Don't request this if few players are inactive and there's a much larger number of people still playing. Either wait or come up with some way to play for a while longer until more people are ready to advance.
Example:
Characters A, B and C are chattering in the bar, having fun and such. The players of characters D, E and F are bored and want to move on. One of them tells A, B and C such.
A creates a new thread for B and C to join so that they can continue their thing, and move back to the main thread when they get finished. Meanwhile the main thread can continue their thing, skipping ahead in time.
A, B and C should just remember that while a few minutes/hours may pass for their characters, once they rejoin the main thread it may be far into the future - days, possibly. You can justify this ICly with Omniverse physics on time, though.
• The maximum time for skipping time is 12 hours ahead: no skipping from noon of day 1 to 8AM of day 2.
So, let's say that the conditions are met. You can do a timeskip by placing a quote into your post stating such - either at the end of the post during which you conclude your activity, or at the start of it so your post takes place post-timeskip, or two parts with a pre-timeskip and a post-timeskip component and the quote in the middle, like so:
Quote:Quote:Quote:
This takes place before the timeskip.
*events happening*
Quote:Quote:
Timeskip to XX.XX (time)
*more events happening*
A timeskip is happening, what now?
If you were still active before the timeskip but someone else has posted that the timeskip takes place before you concluded your activity, you have the following options:
• You can conclude your activity in one post. Write a little quote at the top saying that this part takes place pre-timeskip, then do your thing, and wrap it up. Possibly write something post-timeskip as well if you want.
• If it's gonna take more than one post create a new thread where you can set your own pace. Refer to the example above.
Post Format
As the Island is rather sizable but everything is likely going to take place over one or a handful of threads, it is recommended (not mandatory though!) that you add a location to your post for others to reference. Please find an example below.
Quote:Quote:Location: Silverrock Town - Town Center
"Blah blah" said the character as he did the thing with the things. He then moved over to the merchant stalls to see what the merchants had to offer that day.
If you really want you can interrupt your post with repeated quotes, but usually one at the beginning will be sufficient, if you then describe where your character goes to in your actual IC post.

For Secondaries
Name, Gender, Age etc.:
Appearance: (you can also post a picture)
Relationships: (to other characters, if you want any: Family? Friends, enemies, rivals? Apprentice of X? Working for Y?)
Profession(s): (maximum 2 professions per character, can also be none but you'll need some way for them to make a living. Hobbys don't count towards this limit. Multiple people may take the same profession if it makes sense in character - 2 merchants are okay, but 2 mayors not so much)
History: (go into as much or as little detail as you like. Be sure to include how they got to Windfall Island if they're already there - did they come for the original mining operation? Did they come afterwards on their own will? Were they found mysteriously washed up on the shore one day?)
Possessions: (what does your character own - items, territories, a house, a shop? Established characters will probably have some more than newcomers, but be realistic about it. Even the richest characters on the island aren't swimming in money)
Powers & Abilities: (It's still the Omniverse - your Secondary doesn't have to be a realistic, powerless human. You can feel free to describe a few supernatural abilities and moves that aren't covered by your possessions, but keep it simple)
For NPC Primes
Please seek approval for your character through the corresponding Help Desk thread. Once you are approved, send me the form.
Approval Link: (A link to show that your NPC Prime was approved)
Relationships: (to other characters, if you want any: Family? Friends, enemies, rivals? Apprentice of X? Working for Y?)
Profession(s): (Not obligatory since Primes can summon stuff faster than anyone can craft an item. If you do want them to work normally: maximum 2 professions per character, can also be none but you'll need some way for them to make a living. Hobbys don't count towards this limit. Multiple people may take the same profession if it makes sense in character - 2 merchants are okay, but 2 mayors not so much.)
I recommend that you post your approved form on your profile, and update it if stuff changes, like your character learning a new profession or acquiring/losing an item.

If we're just starting on the island, should we still have our Secondaries appear from boat or something? Or shall we go ahead and assume they existed on the island?

Since there's a lot of people staying behind after the mining operation I would say that a fair number of them are going to be present from the beginning - it's going to have to be a per-case decision for the first few posts. You're free to make a character that newly arrives though.

(This post was last modified: 10-20-2016, 08:52 AM by Dawnika Snow.)
Name, Gender, Age etc.: Kaylee “Kay” Furon, Female, Most certainly between the ages of 18 and 21
Appearance: A young, slightly spunk woman of light complexion and dark brown hair, a beautiful set of blue eyes to complement. Though she has not directly given her age, she is at least of marital status yet has no husband. One can normally find her at the islands General Store, which she owns and runs herself.
Relationships: Kaylee has no relatives she knows of on Windfall Island, but she is well resourced with many on the island including but not limited to the Farmer, the Innkeeper, and The Hunters.
Profession(s): Merchant. She has also been know to handle a sword, but no perticular skill of note.
History: Kaylee came from a smaller island in the Vasty Deep with of course a small settlement where mostly everyone was related. Her father taught her the art of swordplay, since their little island could be prone to plundering and invasion. When the young woman came more of age though, she found her lifestyle boring. This island held nothing for her future. After saying goodbye and gathering supplies, she imbarked on her own adventure to either find treasure, adventure, or simply solace in a more meaningful life. She would travel to new places, collecting trinkets and wares to the best of her abilities, this is how she survived. By trading with bigger ships or on islands in need of supplies. Not much time went by before she ended up on Windfall. The moment her foot hit the soil she knew this place would be her new home. It was a new life. She sold her small boat to a wandering adventurer which she used to purchase a house on Windfall, within a month she had made this home a multi purpose shop for travelers who docked on her new island home. Anyone who wishes to make money or find simple suplies knows Kaylee well.
Possessions: Kaylee owns the General Store named Furon’s Footlocker, which also is her own home. It is a medium sized building. The first room leads into her shop but further through the door behind the counter leads to her personal home. While the shop is welcome for anyone, you wont end up in her good graces if you try sneaking into her home and that would mean you lose access to her shop. Where, beyond the hunters, is probably your only source of grocery shopping. Have care. You can find simple wares for your home, such as silverwar and small household items of that like. Alrhough the biggest trade item in her store is food. Fish, meats and vegetables, whatever suits your fancy. Kaylee has also acquired weapons like swords, daggers and bows, mainly to keep their hunters stocked with weapons for cheap price.
Powers & Abilities: Beyond swordplay, Kaylee doesn't have much other abilities. She owns a katana, which she keeps hidden from view until it is needed. She has practiced with a few magical arts as well, but is hardly proficient past casting bolts of ice and fire. These two spells are extremely simple. Forming balls of fire and spikes made of ice to be launched where ever she aims. She has control enough to use them as she pleases.

Relationships: Ozal owns the main bar in Silverrock Town, creatively named Ozal's. He cultivates a decent relationship with the majority of the townsfolk, as long as they are the drinking-and-debauchery type. Asceticism and deprivation is something he doesn't tolerate, and if you're not buying, you're flying. He also has a few off island contacts that he uses to bring in specialty items, and has ties to a small black market trade around the island. If you need something less than legal, Ozal can probably get it, although it's not going to be cheap.
Profession(s): Bartender, Fence, Gambler
History: Ozal came with the original mining operation, hoping to take advantage of an untapped market for huge profits. Unfortunately, the silver veins ran out just as he finished establishing his bar, and he was stuck owning property in a rapidly deserting island. As a typical Ferengi however, he relentlessly pursued profit by using his natural business acumen and charm to cultivate relationships with some of the less reputable merchants and visitors who couldn't or wouldn't dock closer to Costa Del Sol. He runs the bar like any good business; the cheap stuff is alright, but anything better is going to cost you - and that's not just the drinks. He also has a few table games available for those that love gambling, although he doesn't let anyone look too closely at those Dabo wheels....
Possessions:
Ozal's Bar and Casino - A spacious three story bar and grill, with a gambling floor available. There is a respectable selection of food and drink from most of the Omniverse, but you're not going to find Klopkaan Berry Schnapps from the Tangled Green every day. He lives in the attic above the gaming floor, but can almost always be found on the ground level bar, serving drinks and chatting with customers.
Ferengi Disrupter Pistol - A phased Tetryon Beam weapon, Ozal keeps this beneath the bar for "peacekeeping". It has variable settings, from "Stun" to "Carbonize".
Powers & Abilities:
Quad Lobed Brain - As a member of the Ferengi race, Ozal's four loved brain renders him highly resistant to telepathy and mind reading.
Ferengi Cunning - Ferengi are supremely adept at persuasion, deal brokering, and anything to do woth profit. More than once, Ozal has been able to use his smarts and acumen to turn a crossbow in the face into a sack of gold.

Name, Gender, Age etc.: Melody, female, aged 23
Appearance:
Relationships: (Thus far none)
Profession(s): She runs the Rune Archives of Silverrock Town during the day and takes care of the Mt. Silver Hotsprings in the morning.
History: Melody first came to Windfall Island a while after a cave-in caused during the mining operation uncovered the Hotsprings in the side of Mt. Silver: her curiosity was struck by a sailor that claimed that his sore back felt good as new after having taken a dip. She set up a bathhouse that unfortunately did not get much attention by the miners as by the time she was finished with her work most of the silver ore had been mined out. The inhabitants of Silverrock Town more than made up for the lost opportunity though.
As of recently Melody also takes care of the Rune Archives, the public library of Silverrock Town, as the head librarian. Because neither work is very taxing she is able to run both alongside each other and still have some free time.
Possessions: Melody lives in an apartment above the Rune Archives which belongs to Silverrock Town but is available to her free of rent, as an exchange for her work in the library - that is also where she keeps her few belongings. She also owns the bathhouse in the Mt. Silver Hotsprings which allows people to relax in the hot waters, as well as rent bathing suits, towels, brushes etc. if needed. The bathhouse is how she gets by: she trusts the townspeople and frequent visitors to deposit the entry fee even in her absence, but if tourists come around she ensures that she's there personally.
Powers & Abilities: Melody is physically quite fit due to the frequent back-and-forth between Silverrock Town and the Mt. Silver Hotsprings. She has no combat experience or supernatural abilities, but in a pinch she could probably wield a club without hurting herself.
undoge: Credit & Hugs to Ruby for the sign, and to Guu for the smileys! undoge:
Hide your chicken nuggers, hide your heads, the Sundoge is coming and she'll hat everyone!

Name: Jack “Rooster” Jensen. Rooster is the nickname most people call him, but a more formal or serious character can use Jack instead.
Gender: Male
Age: 27
Appearance: Jack is a young man with black hair, and a noticeable farmer’s tan. He keeps his hair cut relatively short, but doesn’t put much thought into its length or how well maintained it is. He is often spotted in blue jeans and various shades and styles of button up shirts, along with his well-worn brown work boots, and occasionally a camouflage baseball hat. On his right hip he always has a holstered revolver and a badge.
Relationships: None at first. Jack makes friends easy, though, with his laid back personality and penchant for joking around.
Profession(s): Farmer/Police. Rooster’s official full time job is as one of the island’s law enforcement officers. However, he sees little purpose in wandering the island looking for trouble, so he spends most of his time working on his farm just outside of town. He responds to calls for assistance, and when he has a rare combination of some downtime and motivation he will actively look for troublemakers (smugglers, rowdy locals, or whatever)
History: Rooster started his time in the Omniverse as a part of the Empire and the Stormtrooper Corps. His lackadaisical attitude was supplemented by the commanding officer that did not push him too hard to succeed. Rooster ended his time with the Empire without much fanfare, simply deciding not to re-enlist. He lived as a hunter in the Tangled Green for some time, before deciding to find more wide open spaces to utilize his talents. He moved to Windfall Island shortly after the departure of the Empire, acquiring a track of land so he could be a peaceful farmer, in exchange for using his training and experience to help keep order on the island.
Possessions: Jack owns a small farm just outside of Silverrock Village, but not quite at Paradise Bay. This includes a small house, a shed, a silo, and a good sized field, all just off the trail between the two destinations. He owns a pistol, a shotgun, and a hunting rifle, the latter two geared specifically towards hunting. He also is in possession of the various farming equipment needed to run and maintain a farm.
Powers & Abilities: Rooster has no otherworldly abilities, though this makes him far from a pushover in a real combat scenario. He does have formal combat training, and even though he’s forgotten most of it he remembers enough specifics to be effective. He is a good shot with a gun, a skilled hunter (though he only has the time to recreationally hunt), and a decent farmer (he’s still learning).

Name: Karax
Gender: Male
Appearance:
Age: 387
Relationships: None Specific
History: Karax was originally a Protoss of the Khalai caste. A master phase-smith, he understood the workings of the protoss's Khaydarin-based technology like no other.
Sadly, most of that technology doesn't work without Khaydarin crystals, and without a way to obtain more, his abilities are muted in the colonies. Still, Karax has learned to adapt, and soon found himself quite interested in all of the new ways Technology could be shaped in this alternate reality called "The Omniverse".
Karax found himself interested in going to windfall island soon after finding out about it's existence - the entire island and it's set-up reminded him very much of the old protoss voyages into uncharted space, colonies of brave Templar and Khalai working together to live in the harshest of terrain. This wasn't remotely as harsh a place to set up - but then, terrans were far more fragile, anyways.
For his part, Karax uses this island as a way to train his skills as an artisan, constantly learning and attempting to figure out new ways to make the people of Windfall's lives easier. In some ways, Karax sees it as his duty - the firstborn were meant to guide the lesser races, and as a frequent objector to the destruction of terran life, he views living on this island as a way to make up for some of the dereliction of duty he saw his people as committing during the great war.
For the most part, people tolerate Karax's presence despite his consistent social awkwardness and alien oddities. It helps that he is little drain on the Island's resources - as an Alien that survives entirely on sunlight and who pays for anything he uses, he's rarely much of an imposition.
Profession: Karax spends most of his time trying to improve town systems for water-catching, hunting, farming, and etc.
When he manages to make an innovation, he will sell the product - normally at a fairly reasonable price - to the relevant purchasers, before returning to work on his tinkering.
He also, however, has made a side-business to fix sensitive gadgets and devices at a low rate. Ironically, this bit of business is what Karax has become most known for among the town, particularly among children, who will frequently ask Karax to fix broken toys or games for them - as Karax's rates are fairly cheap for Windfall Island, he remains the only repairman in town who can be hired on a child's allowance.
Possessions: Karax owns a small shop on the outskirts of town, in a particularly inhospitable area. It is notable for it's open-topped ceiling, protected by a weak force field Karax installed so that he may avoid the rain while still absorbing nutrients. The building itself is built with the golds and blues of the protoss people, but is made of far less sturdy metals. Karax also owns a bunch of small gizmos to help him work on things, most notably a pair of cybernetic arms attached to his back that help him examine and work on sensitive or dangerous equipment with immense precision. his Workshop itself has a large number of different inventions and the like strewn about various benches and shelves, but precious little else.
The only part of the shop not filled with junk is the middle of the large chamber, a circle with the symbol of the Khalai:
![[Image: latest?cb=20151203002521]](http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/starcraft/images/5/5d/Khalai_SC2-LotV_Logo1.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20151203002521) .
Despite it's fantastic look, it's mostly notable as the area Karax meditates to restore his strength for the night, more than anything else.
Powers And Abilities: Karax is telepathic - as a matter of fact, due to his utter lack of a mouth, he can only communicate by sending bursts of thoughts in order to converse with others, though he can hear others just fine. Karax is also able to use telekinesis to some extent, occasionally using it to lift things that are in an awkward position to grab with his hands. However, Karax is not particularly versed in using either of these abilities. Unlike the Protoss Templar, the Khalai are not trained in how to use their telepathy or Telekinesis to the same degree as the warrior caste. Karax's nails are also very sharp, able to cut through solid metal with some effort.
However, Karax is exceedingly terrible at combat himself, due to his utter lack of training. Karax has yet to even make a fist since he first came to the Omniverse, and his shy personality and lack of aggression cause him to have no combat instincts whatsoever (other than "run away", in most cases.)

Name: Artom
Gender: Male
Age: Approximately X years
Appearance:
![[Image: Zxjzhj0.png]](http://i.imgur.com/Zxjzhj0.png)
Artom would be an unassuming sort of figure, standing in at only a moderate height of 5' 8", and not particularly physically imposing or memorable, were it not for an unfortunately naturally...shifty sort of appearance. Always wrapped up in his turban and robes, no one's ever gotten a good look at his face, which seems to perpetually be shrouded from any intensity of light.
Relationships: Artom makes a point to remain as friendly as possible to anyone and everyone, but he does not have any specific relationships of note.
Profession(s): Artom serves as a messenger and courier among the island itself, as well as to the rest of the verse at large, as well as running a small business selling trinkets and items -- small little accessories, typically fashioned into bracelets or charms to be worn on necklaces. They offer a variety of useful effects to make life easier, and are certainly nice to have. The most common ones he makes for use on the island offer such lovely benefits as warding off light wind and rain, taking the edge off of any extreme weather and keeping you nice and cool (or warm, if it ever came to it). He typically sells them at just enough to cover the cost for making them to various other shops on the island, for them to resell later.
History: Artom has such a wealth of tales from his past to tell, it's hard to believe them all. Before he came to the Omniverse, anyway. Since he arrived here, it's been much more mundane. A travelling merchant, a bit of a courier and messenger, and even forger of odd little trinkets and items, he's been all over the Omniverse. A bit of exploration and business brought him to Windfall Island, just as the silver mining was brought to a halt. He took a liking to the island's environs, finding it to be a pleasant enough place, and decided to stay, once his business was concluded.
Possessions: Artom's possessions are simple. Beyond his clothes, he has his favored staff, functioning equally well as a walking stick and a bludgeon in case of emergency. He keeps a short, curved sword stowed under his robes, likewise in case of emergency. Aside from that, he has a messenger bag near-constantly over one shoulder, which never seems to run out of space for all manner of paraphernalia. A relic from his traveling merchant days, or so he says. He owns a small, unassuming house in Silverock Town, but has nothing else of note.
Powers & Abilities: Artom does not have very many powers beyond the norm. He does seem to be almost unnaturally perceptive, and makes it a point of pride that no one has ever managed to sneak up on him or steal from him, in all his many years, and he has the preternatural habit of always managing to turn up whenever someone mentions him, often in the most inexplicable of ways. That aside, his long years of travel and experience have given him a great deal of practical skills, and he's versed in all manner of mundane skills, the most prominent of them being first aid and basic medical knowledge, adequate combat skill, and a fair hand at basic magic, though mostly support and assisting in fleeing than anything suited for combat.

Name: Rufus "The Voodoo Vagrant" Dellarosa
Gender: Male
Age: 37
Appearance:

Relationships: Most members of Windfall view Rufus as a useful pariah. Being well-verse in both conventional medicine and supernatural healing he is often called upon whenever someone is ill or injured. However he is prone to drunken tirades around town and has been arrested and kicked out on more than one occasion. The children of Windfall refer to him as The Voodoo Vagrant and treat him as something akin to a boogeyman.
Profession(s): Witch doctor
History: No one is quite sure when Rufus first made his way to Windfall. Some say he was always on the island, living as a hermit, while others say he came in on one of the tradeships shortly after the mining operation was established. Either way most can agree he's been around Windfall for quite some time. Although he was often found getting drunk in the various taverns of Windfall it wasn't until the silver dried up that he started making his presence known as a medicine man. As the silver dried up so did the infrastructure provided by the Empire, and that included medical facilities and their doctors. Trained in both classical medicine and supernatural healing Rufus offered his services to the ailing population -- often in exchange for alcohol. Despite being a good doctor and spiritual healer Rufus is at best tolerated during his stints in the city.
Possessions: Rufus owns two properties on the island, both of which amount to nothing more than shanty houses.
His main home is deep within the forest. This house is a cobbled together mess of multi-colored boards, bones, and beads. When he isn't making a mess of himself in Silverrock he can often be found in his forest home communing with spirits and brewing all manner of elixirs.
His other home is a relatively new project of his. It is located inside a hidden cove on the edge of the Cyan Cliffs. Occasionally he will stay at the Cyan Cliffs for a change of scenery and to harvest shards of the cyan colored stone to be used in his rituals. The children will often make a game of breaking into this house and stealing a trinket or something from Rufus.
Powers & Abilities: Rufus is a practitioner of voodoo, or rather a form of it. He can speak with the spirits of the island and can perform various rituals to call upon their aid. However his form of magic comes at a cost, in order to do anything he must offer a sacrifice to the spirit that he calls upon. This sacrifice is proportional to the effect, the more potent he wishes the spell to be the more he must offer. These rituals are rarely malicious and often work in roundabout ways to achieve the desired affect.
His shadow is also a physical being of sorts. It is able to lift small objects and manipulate things of its own accord. The shadow can also detach from his body and move around independent of him, although its range is quite limited. He often uses this as an extra hand or to open doors for him when he is to drunk to do so. The shadow seems to be its own entity despite being tethered to Rufus as its ability is not diminished as he becomes intoxicated.
Due to his connection with the island spirits he is able to speak to animals. Most animals have a natural dislike for him because of his nature, but he is occasionally able to convince them otherwise.

(This post was last modified: 10-21-2016, 01:50 PM by Caira Ayryn.)
Name, Gender, Age etc.: Thomas (Tom), the only respectable pirate in all of Vasty Deep, M, 55-65.
Appearance: Thomas is an older man, with a graying beard and withered lines around his eyes. He wears, usually, the same ruddy coat, and black pants as he does every other day when he visits town. He wear's a captains hat, and has the stature of an old seaman that may have once been in the military. Thomas has a kind voice, and eyes that have seen too much.
Relationships: Hasn't met many people on the island, generally goes to the shops where he does business, and the bar etc.
Profession(s): Old seaman who is the captain of a “shipping vessel,” he often trades under the table since the laws the Empire have put into motion not only make it difficult for anyone to trade in large commodities without infringement, they can also damage communities who don’t have enough money to pay for medicine, certain foods, and other necessary and unnecessary supplies, like guns and weapons, to protect themselves from rogue primes, the government itself, or the monsters of the Vasty Deep that the Empire, while it does ‘keep people safe’ on the more populated islands, doesn’t always send help when an accident or disaster occurs. TLDR; Captain of a ship (ships product), buyer/tradesman.
-! Tom usually deals with merchants himself (he doesn’t like bullshit), but he feels he is getting too old and is looking for an assistant.
History:
Thomas has quite the reputation, that is, if he didn’t change his ‘look’ so much as a young sailor. He made his living living an infamous life as a pirate, which is why, when he woke up in the Vasty Deep / Omniverse after his vessel on Earth had been sunk, he thought he’d like it here. He became a pirate rather quickly, though, it didn’t start out that way. One day, he was simply working as another crewmen on a boat that not only was purposed with ‘exploration’ and charting of the VD, but other tasks of census taking, etc. Very monotonous work, but the pay was enough so that he never had scurvy. But, when they spotted uncharted land, the captain decided they’d stay for a while, and see if there were any inhabitants on this new island. Youthful Tom and a crew were sent out to check the terrain, see if there was anything valuable, but he was separated from the crew by a simple misstep, where he was flung into the dark depths of the mountain... To this day, Thomas never speaks of that night, it is unknown the horrors which he endured in the caves.
When he returned to daylight, his clothes shabby and ragged and stained in blood, he searched far and wide, returning to the side of the island that they had anchored ship. It was no longer there. Had he chased the scared crewmembers away, with the echoes of his screams the previous night? Had they deserted him, after declaring him dead? Or, had they been eaten by the same monster which he had faced and triumphed? Or was it none of those at all, but an anomaly that only occurred in the Omniverse, this verse, could explain?
Abandoned and marooned, Thomas never found out the truth, but his mind always theorize, worried, doubted, and feared the worst. For, the same day, after realizing and tracing the circumference of the island, they were still gone, the ship had left no traces, and all that was on the beach were footsteps which were being washed away by wave. The most peculiar, other than the entirely missing ship, was that when the tide had rolled away again, in the same beach that had anchored in front of, Thomas found treasure. Gold. It literally encompassed the entire shoreline, none of them had seen it when they had ported, but sweet Neptune, it was there, glinting on the beach in as many coins as there was sand.
Hidden treasure. But, hadn’t his men seen it, since they’d surely crossed the beach to leave, and return to the ship (that is, if they’d survived?) Thomas held onto the hope that they had left him there after finding the gold coins, and lugging as many as they could back onto the ship, making themselves rich, and with every intention of returning to the same island. This hope was all he had. Still, were that the case, even had they declared him dead, (he imagined his friend, Max saying “No one could have survived that fall, it’s a chute that could go as deep as the Mantle, if not to the Core!” he was always very sciency, Max was.) To declare him a lost cause, surely they’d seen him dead, since it only made sense they would’ve never left without a single trace (a note, a mark, something surely he had missed! Thomas thought desperately after) if they had found his body. Which, Thomas theorized, could be very true, since the Omniverse was a strange place... What if... They found a dead man’s body, relatively fresh, but lacking a face? If he looked his height and weight, and the rest of the body was mangled, there’d be nothing left to tell (since, Thomas had searched the island after and known there was no one inhabiting it, no trace!)
Other theories swirled in the ‘dead-man’s’ mind. What if... There were two Thomas’s, two secondaries of the same man, and there was someone with perhaps his same face, masquerading as he, but a man that was not Thomas (or at least not his current version) who had been brought here to the Omniverse -summoned but to a marooned fate, never had the means to leave the island, but a man who’s luck had changed when he saw a large vessel arrive with live men. A dream come true! But then, Other Thomas found that the men of the vessel recognized his face, and knew his name? Peculiar, sure, but he’d been on the island for who knows how long! Anyone lonely for that long, who maybe had never been introduced to the concept of the OV, that people weren’t born, but made here, would’ve welcomed any sort of twist explainable by human error or illness, such as mirages or his own amnesia. He was rescued.
All this Thomas imagined, in the time he had on the island, oh my, how painful it was to be left to die, without a word. Without anything. Thomas made up what had happened after, since the young sailor would not accept that his vessel had just simply, left without him, and he could not accept that something had happened to the boatful of over fifty men, that something could have killed them all, leaving no scraps of wood left. (He then thought, perhaps a whirlpool could’ve taken the ship, and drowned them all to a watery fate, but he would not accept the death of his men as an option for truth, only a lying alibi.)
Thomas thought, no, there is a happy ending, even if it is not for you, and this is how it had gone. His desertion was another man’s salvation. This is what he had to believe.
“Tom! Good man! We finally found you!” His close friend Max smiled, slapping other Tom on the back.
“Found me?” he imagined his doppleganger questioning, confused.
“Yeah, the men had a bad fright, we searched this entire godforsaken island for ya! We thought you were dead.” he said grimly.
“Thank God.. You found me after all,” Other Tom might say. Forgetting about the fortune on the island’s shoreline (or maybe it was never there, or inaccessible,) the second Max brings up that the whole place is falling apart.
“And just in time too. There was a huge earthquake, though you probably felt it, due to the magnitude, the men are leaving as soon as possible, the shoreline is being eaten alive, there’s almost no sand left visible, I convinced them to leave me a boat, since I didn’t want to leave the island without you. They’re waiting for us, thank God you made it in time. Let’s go.”
It sounded like a good trade, when Thomas thought of it like this, but, his life had now been damned. Purposeless. Thomas considered hanging himself after thinking he’d never be saved, that he couldn’t eat the gold, and that the thing in the caves may some day resurface, causing him more agony than it had last night.
“I can’t believe it... I can’t sail out of here on golden doubloons, I, a seaman, who searches for lost treasures as well as new ones, deserted here, after finding all this gold, and never being able to use it, to spend it, to make my dream come true! I am so poor, yet so rich. Why has fate forsaken me? I can’t even eat this gold, it’s... It is exactly what it is right now, that’s it’s purpose. It’s no more than hot, shiny sand below my feet. And I... I have yet to define myself. Yet this is my fate. Every day, will be hard, there’s not much to eat on this island, but, I am a man who values his life more than this gold, and I, vow to you, God of Neptune, that I. Will. Live.”
And live he did. Thomas tells this story to men near and far, and it is a well known one among the trading industry, though, all seamen tell stories, and most of them are embellished. Every time he tells the story (or another, passes it on,) the ending changes just slightly. The ending being how he got off the island, and weather or not he ever went back for the gold, or if a ship happened to pass by, and he and the crew all split the riches.
The truth of the gold, and his rescue, (whether self-established or a lucky discovery, or if his crewmen ever did come back for him,) lay only in Thomas’s mind. But the truth, was that he was standing there before them, telling the story or riding over the distant seas, still sailing to this day, no matter what, he was alive.
After Thomas’s salvation was delivered, by perhaps, the God of Neptune herself, he soon came to own his own vessel, where he sails the open seas and follows his heart, much like a sail, going where the wind takes him...
Frequently he trades with Windfall Island, finding it a quaint little town, where he can bring news and gossip and supplies (life saving!) to their community. As a man who had once nearly lost his life from being marooned, his own personal experience makes him motivated with his own charter boat, never to make a delivery late. He was always on time, and for some people, who needed immediate medicine or supplies, or food, or a water filtration system after their water had been poisoned- Thomas was a miracle. He’d saved more lives than the ship that had never been heard from again, but never, to this day, has he learned their fate.
He thinks in both the dark and the light, Maybe they found an island just like Windfall, retired with all that gold, and kept the gold, not bothering to report back to the shitty Empire. OR Maybe on that day, that fateful day that both made and broke me as a man, the reason they never returned, was that the dead never come back. Only Primes.
Possessions: A nicely sized vessel, a good crew, and a ship always (mysteriously) full of food. Perhaps the riches he found on the island wasn’t all the treasure that he found- but something charmed with magic? Maybe Omni himself came down from the heavens and granted him a single wish, or dropped an item, or Thomas discovered a mysterious chest full of food, unendingly. There’s mystery there too, or, maybe you choose to believe that a man like Thomas with a sizable retirement would never bare the idea of starving to death... Never again.
Powers & Abilities:
Powers: Thomas certainly seems like a normal old man, but behind his reading spectacles, his eyes tell of a dark secret... A secret he can never speak of. One might think he would’ve sold his soul to get off that wretched island alive, one might think, he did, for he was now a wealthy man who could retire any time he liked, but he keeps sailing for the sport of it. For the dignity and purpose of proving he was alive once more, and providing purpose to himself and giving means to those around him. Did something happen on the island, something mystical and powerful and horrible and horrifying, that granted him the ability to leave, to fly, to condense all gold from the beach into his pocket, where he then created a raft and sailed off? No man knows for sure... Will you try to find out?
Abilities include: Expert boating knowledge, expert survival skills, Thomas somehow has the ability to find food even in unlivable climates. He’s a damn good shot, from years of pirating, defending himself, and has masterful leadership, navigation, and bartering skills. It’s as though he has his own internal compass which lets him find anything the seeks. Yet, he still always seeks, perhaps for that fraction of himself that was abandoned on that godforsaken island, but never felt truly rescued.
[bold] DISCLAIMER: !!!! Hey I just wanted to ask that people shoot me a quick message if they decide that they want their character to have a prior relationship with T! (Beyond a vague sense!) communication is key! If not I'll just read about it~Super hype for this thread yo.[/bold]

Just putting this here for personal reference
Windfall Island
This island is about 30 miles (48 km) from Costa del Sol and thus, while not completely cut off, is relatively secluded. The empire originally took interest in this location due to a vein of silver ore that was discovered, but after mining most of it out the mine was abandoned. The idea was to leave Windfall island as a whole, however many people who had moved to the island to work as miners or support them (farmers, merchants etc) decided to stay.
Windfall Island offers a good location for traveling merchants who navigate the Vasty Deep’s ocean but cannot dock at Costa del Sol (for instance due to troubles with the empire) to resupply, buy and sell their wares and repair their ships in the relative absence of the imperial customs and Navy forces.
Services and Shops in Silverrock Town are filled by players.
(examples below)
-General store
-Clinic/doctor’s office
-Museum
-Inn
-Blacksmith
-Merchant stalls (rented by merchant ships)
-Residential area
-Church
In a cavern in the side of Mt. Silver is a hot spring formed into a natural spa with incredibly rich mineral water that rejuvenates the body and spirit. It forms the primary tourist attraction, especially from Coruscant, though even so the actual number of tourists is very minor.
Name, Gender, Age etc.: Dasha Pelandria, 27-year-old woman.
Appearance:

Relationships: Professional (and slightly personal) rivalry with Ozal, slightly anti-imperial viewpoints
Profession(s): Innkeeper of the Open Shore a tavern and inn in Silverrock.
History: Dasha used to live in Coasta del Sol, running the Velvet Dolphin. However, after a series of events more or less beyond her control, she was forced to leave town before Imperial police confiscated her place of work. Selling her inn, she took a ship to Windfall island, shortly after the mining industry left. She set up a small tavern and inn on the outskirts of Silverrock, where she manages to run a decent business. Dasha came to Silverrock to escape the Empire, and in the back of her mind she is worried that she hasn’t gone quite far enough.
Possessions:
The Open Shore: This combination tavern and inn is in relatively good repair. The front half of the building is only one story, while the back half of the structure has a second floor where a few rooms are available for rent. The ground floor is almost entirely the common room of the inn, and there are a collection of tables, as well as both a large fireplace and small stage for those who wish to make a performance. A large wagon-wheel chandelier hangs from the center of the room, a collection of melting candles dripping wax on whatever hapless patron had the misfortune of choosing that seat. The Aesthetic is most like that of the early renaissance, with carved wood pillars and a polished bar. However, the rest of the furniture is more classically medieval and the dishes and fare offered are equally archaic relative to what is available elsewhere in the verse.
There are two rooms in the back of the first floor, a kitchen area and a combination office/sleeping quarters where six rooms available on the second floor, these are slightly smaller than average rooms, with the standard bed and night stand, on which sits an oil lamp. A large locked trunk is also available in each room, and a key is given to a person who stays, to be returned in the morning before they leave. There is also a cellar accessed from behind the bar, where a collection of cheap and relatively recent drinks are stored, (the Open Shore doesn’t yet have the clientele to afford having expensive drinks on tap.) and a very small stable that could house at most two horses, (or similarly sized vehicles, since horses are not especially useful on an island.) which also serves as a storeroom of sorts on the upper floor.
Dataverse device: just a standard data-pad. An old model, but may have been an Imp-restricted version since it appears to have some functions for monitoring nearby Dataverse traffic. Likely obtained on the black market prior to her egress from Coasta del Sol.
Powers & Abilities:
For all true intents and purposes Dasha is a normal human, although her upbringing has left her somewhat rugged, and that stubbornness has gotten her into a few more scraps than she would appear (or admit to.)
Latent paranormal psychic: Though she never speaks of it to anyone, Dasha has on multiple occasions seen ghosts/spirits and though she has only tried this once, she is able to communicate with them. Dasha herself is only half convinced she is not simply hallucinating. The ability of these phantoms to interact with the physical world is so far undetermined, as Dasha has never stuck around one long enough to find out.
~~~~~
Name, Gender, Age etc.: Kelp Dorik, 13-year-old boy.
Appearance:
Relationships: busboy/stablehand for Dasha
Profession(s): worker at the Open Shore
History: Kelp is a sweet boy, but very shy and entirely mute. He worked for Dasha back in Coasta del Sol and has gone with her to Windfall island. This move cost him nearly all of his savings, (the cost of this travel was highly inflated for both him and Dasha thanks to their poor relations with a certain imperial officer) and he is working up enough money to pay for fare to bring his mother to the island as well. Kelp is about as non-confrontational as possible, and will be very unlikely to do anything to defend himself.
Possessions: Kelp has had to sell virtually all of his possessions in order to make it to Windfall Island, and as such has no items of note beyond normal clothes.
Powers & Abilities: Kelp is stronger than his frame would suggest, but otherwise totally unremarkable in the powers realm of things.
If history is to become legend, it first must be recorded.
Name, Gender, Age etc.: DP-12 'Arnold Rockwell', Male, 7 Years Old
Appearance:
DP-12, or Arnold Rockwell, as he prefers to be called, stands at roughly three feet in height, more than likely causing him to be dwarved by most other members of Windfall Island. He speaks in an obviously robotic, almost childish voice. While his metal endoskeleton is similar to that of Pit Droids from Star Wars, with a red paint-job and two yellow stripes down his back, he often hides his frame underneath a set of clothes that usually consist of a brown trench coat and hat.
Relationships: Donald Rockwell - Family. His creator and much more.
Profession(s): His primary profession appears to be construction, as he spends most of his days assisting in renovations with other buildings, including the one his creator, Donald Rockwell, lives in. He also uses whatever material he can get his hands on to build his pet project: a massive windmill on top of the Cyan Cliffs. This construction also extends to the making of fellow robots.
His secondary profession is that of a caretaker, in that he can provide a minor form of medical assistance, which include therapy, relationship advice, massages, etc. This does not extend to true medical knowledge, however; it is merely just simple advice and the occasional massage.
History: DP-12, or Arnold Rockwell, was not originally created by Donald Rockwell until after he had already arrived at Windfall Island. Indeed, his creation had never even been considered until a couple of years after they had arrived. Donald and his son, Arnold Rockwell.
Donald Rockwell was an inventor whom had first gone to Windfall Island to pitch special machinery for the miners there to assist them in the excavation of silver. Most of the inventions have since been lost, if not outright forgotten, though Donald has managed to keep some of them salvaged inside his home. The many he has not been able to save have either been taken apart for scrap, sold in auctions, displayed in museums, or simply left to rot in the Plains or the Mines as simple carcasses of metal. Donald never approved of just how easily people threw away his inventions; he thought it selfish and insensitive that people could toss out material and expect it to come back just like that. He perceived their actions as simple, entitled wastefulness; a result of a privileged people used to the bunnies offering a massive litter. Unfortunately, Donald was an old man. An old man full of energy and wit, but nonetheless old. He could not possibly keep up with the demand.
He continued to try, though, and he eventually enlisted the help of his son, Arnold Rockwell. The two were close, with Arnold admiring his father for his inventions and his general personality. Likewise, Arnold's youthful charm and appreciation resonated with Donald. In a sense, the two even shared similar ambitions. Arnold, during a trip to the Cyan Cliffs with his father, informed his father of his greatest wish: to build a massive windmill that could power the entire island with the force of the winds, ran entirely by his father's robots. The two were perfect for each other; there was no denying that.
It made Arnold's death all the more heartbreaking for Donald. A cave-in that occurred while Arnold was attempting to fix a broken miner droid resulted in the death of his son, alongside several miners and the destruction of almost all of the miner droids. He mourned his son every day, burying him in the backyard of his home. As hard as he could try, he could not get over his son's death. As far as he was concerned, his inventions had caused his death. Without him, the world was emptier. Without him, he lost all the energy and wit he ever had. It wasn't worth it if no one appreciated his work.
It was only a few years later did he get the idea to invent a fully sentient robot, which he named 'Arnold Rockwell,' in memory of his son. While his actual name is 'DP-12,' Arnold immediately grew fond of his more official name, and the two began to bond. Over the course of seven years, they bonded to the point of almost sharing a similar one to the original Arnold.
But this Arnold knew Donald was unhappy. It just wasn't the same without his son. And he was dying. He was growing old, and in his old age, he was growing sick more easily, to the point of being unable to leave his bed without growing tired. He couldn't even continue to work on his machines. As he grew weaker, 'Arnold' was forced to take care of him, and he could see the pain his creator was going through. He knew he did not have much time left.
That was when he got an idea. He was going to build the world's biggest windmill on the Cyan Cliffs, and use it to provide wind-power to the entire Windfall Island. That would be Donald's legacy when he passed: the inventor of the little robot who constructed the world's biggest windmill. He would die a happy man.
And so, from then on, he got to work. As of right now, the windmill is still in the stages of construction, with only the basic foundation finished. It is unlikely he will finish in time without assistance, but he keeps on going regardless.
Possessions:
House: Technically not owned by him, but by Donald Rockwell. The duo own a small, two-story house near the edge of Silverrock Town, close to the path to the cliffs. The house is relatively simple, with the notable exception being the dozens of uncompleted machinery within it, as well as the copious amounts of oil stains on the walls and carpets. On the first floor, towards the back of the house, is the bedroom, where Donald Rockwell is usually found sleeping, reading, or talking to a friend. He does not stray from his bed, as he is far too ill to do that. In the backyard, behind a large picket fence so that no one could see, is a gravestone, marked "Arnold Rockwell."
Windmill in Construction: He himself owns a portion of the land occupying the Cyan Cliffs, which he has used to help build a massive windmill that is still currently in construction. Why he is doing this is unknown, as he prefers to keep the reason a secret.
Taser-Club: A three-foot long black pole with an electronic socket at the end, which can be flicked on and off for the addition of electrocuting whoever decides to try to attack Arnold or his creator. Often carries this around in case he runs into any beasties.
Construction Equipment: General stuff any carpenter/construction worker would have. Hammers, nails, drills, etc.
Powers & Abilities:
Durability: Being a robot, he is incapable of feeling hunger, thirst, fatigue, and most forms of temperature, and general attacks are more easily defended against due to the strength of his endoskeleton. However, he does require periodic times to "oil up," as his robotic joints lock up after repeated use, which leaves him completely motionless.
Strength: Despite his size, due to him being a machine, he is easily capable of lifting up things more than thrice his size and weight.
i may be all alone
that i'm bad to the bone
Kate has not officially arrived on Windfall, yet, but since she'd listed at the top of the thread I'll go ahead and drop her info here.
Name: Kate Wilder
Gender: Female
Age: 21
Appearance: Kate is an athletic young woman who is frequently outdoors, and as a result tanned all over. She has blonde hair past her shoulders, which she ties up in various ways if she doesn’t simply let it flow loose. She prefers light clothing that’s easy to move around in and doesn’t let her heat up too terribly much when on a boat.
Relationships: Co-worker and trainee of Jack Jensen on the police side of things.
Profession(s): Fisher(wo)man/Police
History: Kate was summoned to Costa Del Sol by an unknown prime, where she enjoyed a predicable life fishing in the daylight and partying in the night for some time. She was impressed by the power and authority that the Stormtroopers and the Navy held around the island. Though she envied them, she couldn’t bear to leave the Vasty Deep, as she enjoyed the ocean too much. Instead of journeying to Coruscant to join the Empire, she instead searched the Vasty Deep for a smaller community to serve a similar purpose in. She came upon Windfall Island, where she could follow her desire to serve and protect as a member of the small police force, while also continuing to utilize her talents as a fisherman for both her own enjoyment and the betterment of the community.
Possessions: Kate owns a small house near the docks of Paradise Bay. It is a small one bedroom, one bathroom house which is mostly used to store her various tools. She has numerous fishing rods, tackle, cast nets, and other equipment used when at sea. She does not own her own boat, yet, instead borrowing a village owned one for fishing while she saves up for her own personal one.
Powers & Abilities: Kate is a fresh(ish) secondary. She is extremely sociable, but not used to the Omniverse yet, which causes many disadvantages. She is, however, a very skilled fisherman, which is her main contribution to the society.
Name, Gender, Age etc.: Nathaniel (No one knows his last name, prefers Nate.) M, 24
Appearance:
Relationships: Nate is well acquainted with any farmer or hunter since he supplies many of their tools and equipment. Other than that, he doesn't have much connections when it comes to family, not even a wife.
Profession(s): Blacksmith, a skill he acquired from his father, may he rest in peace. He makes weapons, generally swords, axes and arrows, but also finds time to repair the items the hunters use and the farmers tools.
History: Nate came to the island when the Silver Mine was still rich with work, his father had brought him along with him. His father opened a blacksmith which mainly functioned as a repair shop for broken tools that were used in the mines. Nathaniel himself, however, worked the mine in his teenage years, while apprenticing the smith craft.
Nate’s father died inside the mine. A support beam had become worn within the cave and while attempting to fix it, the beam snapped collapsing on several workers and his father who all died instantly. Nathaniel was compensated appropriately for his loss, which he used to buy new gear and a building to start working as Silverrock’s Blacksmith.
Possessions: the Blacksmith shop named The Scorching Anvil. He own’s all the weapons inside, or course, and the building. He also has a house more in the residency area of town.
Powers & Abilities: He isn't anyone special. Nate has trained in the use of weaponry. Much more extensive than others would but that is basically all he knows in terms of self defense.
Name, Gender, Age etc.: Jasmine Coattails, Female, 7 (25 in Pokemon years)
Appearance:
Relationships: She’s new to Windfall so she hasn’t made any relationships in town yet.
Profession(s): School teacher, former bounty hunter
History: She was originally the product of IV breeding. While her stats were close to good, she fell short of the mark and was released by her trainer along with hundreds of her brothers and sisters.
A domesticated Rowlet in a wild world, she slowly learned to adapt, gaining levels by fighting other pokemon until she evolved into a what she is now.
She was brought to the Omniverse when konata played through Pokemon Sun, though she is oblivious to this fact.
With years of experience in her belt, she was able to adapt to the Omniverse, working as a bounty hunter on Cinnabar island. Eventually, she got weary of the seedy existance of bounty hunting and decided to try a new career; teaching. She thought she had a lot to provide to youth and when a position opened up in Windfall, she decided to take it.
However, she won't be above taking up the arrow again when she's needed.
Possessions: She sold her house in cinnabar to rent out the apartment above the school. She's barely even seen it yet so it'll be quite barren starting out, but it's a roof over your head. She also has a dataverse device/communicator. Whenever she needs to, she can summon a vine net that's useful for catching bounties, not so much for teaching though.
Powers & Abilities:
Flight: She has wings so this power is obvious. She can shoot arrows while flying, she flies about 3 speed.
Phasing: Being half ghost, she can phase through things if she concentrates. Obviously, she can’t attack while phasing.
Bow and Feather: She can use the drawstrings of her hoodie as the strings of a bow and fire feathers at her target. She has some level of manipulation on where the feather goes after she fires it. She’s so accurate that she can pin someone down without killing them.
Senses: She has an owl's ears and eyes, making her really aware of her surroundings.
