I want to pick some brains here.
How has writing affected who you are as a person? How has it shaped how you think and perceive others? For those of you who have been within this community for a while, how has it impacted you? For the newly initiated among us, how do you feel about this community, and what do you want to get out of it intrinsically? Even as seasoned writers, we all have had to struggle to find our 'voice'. Have you found yours? What do you do that helps you refine it?
I look forward to the responses!

Well, while I haven't interacted much here, I did just spend over half an hour researching what laptop my character would most likely have if he were living in Japan in 1986, when the book he's from was printed, only to not mention that in my post at all. So I guess that's a pretty good description of what writing does to me as a person.

I went to writing because it was something that allowed me to outlet my creative imagination. Short and sweet. I was a horrid writer when I first started but, ever since I joined the Omniverse I done much better. Even MORE since I joined DA. I like having the judgement of others in my writing. Unfortunately, no one reads my work other than the people I collaborate with XD But that's about it really.

I'm always trying to make connections between what's going on around me and the written word. Whenever I hear a funny joke or something fascinating from another person's personal experience, I immediately want to try and replicate it in a different, original way and include it in a story. I flip through those filmy beauty magazines to find all the creative names for different colors that they've come up with, like "sea breeze blue" and "stardust silver" nail polish or mascara. Writing pushes me to gain an interest in things I otherwise wouldn't, because each new experience gives me something new to write about.
Most of all, though, writing makes me sad. I feel like there's never enough time to really enjoy it, like I can't find the right words to express what I'm feeling, what I want my characters to feel. The Omniverse, on the other hand, and the writing I do here, makes me happy. There's no pressure unless I put it there, and I often do lay it on, because I want to improve. I want more than anything to write a good story, but it's not just that. I want to share something I've created with the people I admire, and maybe they'll think privately that it's no good at all, that my voice is weak, that my choice of character was bad and my writing style deviates too much from the main story or whatever, but at least they'll see it. That's really all I can ask for.
New to the Omniverse? Don't be afraid to PM me for assistance!

I before I came on here did very little with my absolutely large amount of free-time so this has been something really great for me to tryout and I adore it to the point that I wont be going anywhere anytime soon and I hope that this site stays open for as long as it can before it has to shut down but I do wish one thing from the site that when the site is closing down that there is a memorial somewhere to commemorate the so many people that joined but Thank you everyone from the bottom of my heart for doing something like this and I hope this site has effected you the way it has for me.
P.s. that was off topic but I just wanted to put that out there for all the staff who give time up from there buzy days to work here and the people who write you make this site possible so Thank you all one last time.
