Starting Point: Mal is picking up at the end of the movie Serenity.
Quick Summary: One a sergeant in a rebel army fighting against the Alliance but the Independents (or “browncoats” as they are known) failed and he was forced to live life on the fringes of society. He scraped together enough money from odd (often unsavory jobs) to buy a Firefly class transport ship he dubbed “Serenity”. He had his crew then made a living doing (somewhat) legal transport work for a while. He eventually got mixed up with the Tams, a brother/sister duo who were on the run from the law because the sister was an escaped, crazy, psychic, war-machine, super-soldier. After a confrontation with the law he woke up in the Omniverse.

Mal’s Moses Brothers Self-Defense Engine Frontier Model B is a hard hitting, 8 shot pistol that fires at a rate of about 1 shot per second. The gun itself is heavy, a nasty bit of business at close range. It can fire either by hammer-action or via a Gauss propulsion via a battery in the handle. It fire NEWTECH Gauss Quadloads (equivalent to standard .45 bullets). Otherwise, it functions in the same way a modern revolve might.

Mal has an effect on people, a certain charm that makes you hate him just as much as it makes you love him. He knows people and by that I mean he knows people on the inside- not just what they show the rest of the world. He has a knack for inspiration, even if he doesn’t know it. Leading by example, Mal can say something improbably inspiring, hitting just the right note at the right moment. this grants his allies, for the next half minute, Foresight, though only in that it grants them an extra second to avoid attacks or adjust their attacks. This involves Mal opening himself up to the attacks of others (not hiding behind anything, cowering, being sneaky in any way, etc) though he may return fire/advance. In this way he has to sort of lead from the front, actively engaged in the fight, and be a visible and dramatic symbol.

Liberty Hammer - Do the different firing mechanisms change the fire rate? or is this just a writing/ fodder/ flavor thing? How long does it take to reload? How fast do the bullets travel?

Big Damn Hero - I'm going to say no to outright giving people a power, however, your buff can have effects similar to powers. I would suggest that this move just makes people fight smarter rather than outright giving them foresight. Instead, they would just be able to analyze the situation better and almost predict what their enemies next move would be.

Liberty hammer is a standard "gun gun". Nothing scifi about it except that it fires things in a different way. No difference in how it fires, rate of fire, etc. I'll edit that to make it clearer.


"Big Damn Hero" uses the same precedent set forth in the example Buff power "WAAAAAAAAUUUUGH!"

For a short time, about half a minute, those allies can shrug off injuries as if they had the Survival power, but they do still take the damage, and after the half minute is up, if a wound would have normally killed them, they'll then likely keel over.

Baring the use of granting allies stats or powers (as stats are restricted to super moves, as described in Omni's note in the same entry), in what way can buffs interact with the mechanics of the site?

Granting someone a power and giving them beneficial effects that are close to a power is very different. Note that it does say 'as if they had', not, 'granting them survival'.

So saying something like:
"this grants his allies, for the next half minute, something akin Foresight in that it provides them a brief warning of oncoming attacks as well as opportunity to better aim their own."

Rather than this:
"this grants his allies, for the next half minute, Foresight, though only in that it grants them an extra second to avoid attacks or adjust their attacks."

would be acceptable?

A little more than that, but mostly yes. He has to be a visible "dramatic" symbol. I intend it to be like a "lead by example" kind of thing. Mal can't just sit back and tell people to go die- he has to be actively engage in the fight for it to work.
