A Rescue Mission
#1
My eyes dart from the file I was given by Luci, to the building in front of me. According to the address given to me in the file, this was the place. I examined the outside of the building, and attempted to figure out an entry plan. I could wait for someone to head in the building, turn invisible, and follow them in like with Scarlet and Reuben’s hotel room. The only problem with that is I don’t know if anyone is supposed to show up besides the Hutt, but once he’s here, it’s a little late to start making moves.

I could go in guns blazing, taking on the full brunt of the attack, but that would be dangerous, risky, and the girl might get hurt at some point in the fray. Whether it was a stray bullet or an orc attacking her on purpose, I was fairly certain Luci would not be happy with her more injured than she already is.

This led me back to the more immediate problem though. The electric fence, the reason Luci says she couldn’t just do this job herself. It was eight feet high, surrounded the entire building, and had no places where you could slip under it, through it, or past it. The power source seemed to be inside the building, as I could see no such source outside of the building, eliminating the ability to shoot it and turn off the fence.

As time went on and the night got darker, an idea struck me. Perhaps I could jump over it? After all, physics were different in the Omniverse, and I had already witnessed things happen that would not be physically possible back on earth. It stood to reason that I possibly could jump it. I extracted my rifle and chest rig, eliminating the weight from them. If I was going to make this jump, I needed to be as light as possible.

My eyes examined the area behind the fence, looking for a good spot to try and land at. I eventually found a spot away from the main door, where the odds were lower that I would be noticed. I took a few moments to gather up the courage to attempt to jump over the fence. I was going off of a hunch, a guess about how the Omniverse works. Odds are I was about to become one with electricity…

I took off in a run towards the fence, picking up speed as I neared it. Once I was about two and a half feet away from the fence, I jumped as high as I could. Around me, time seemed to slow down as my brain processed what happened next.

My right foot pushed off of the ground, with as much force it could muster, and soon I was in the air. The force of the jump brought me up through the air, and I approached the fence. My bodily naturally curved into an arc, as if my boundy found it normal and commonplace to jump over eight feet fences flowing with electric current. My acrobatic skills took over as I came down on the other side, my body tucking in on itself as I neared the ground, and spreading the force of the ground out as I rolled on the crunching ground.

I walked up to the door quickly, drawing my pistol from it’s holster. A quick peep into the window next to the door revealed a room filled with a few orcs, four from what I could see. I saw a shut door leading into an adjacent room, and guestimated two or more enemies in that room as well. Checking that my magazine was fully loaded, I replaced the mag, and repeated my actions from earlier in the day. I threw myself into the door. It flew open easily, and almost broke against my weight, as if it was made of a poor material.

Several things happened at once as the door flew open and I entered the room. Two orcs were sitting on a couch across from me, and were to startled to do anything more than stare before they were both shot in the heart. An orc closer to the door tried to attack me with his fist, but met only nothing but empty air as I ducked beneath the attack. Using his forward momentum against him, I attacked the back of his knee with a knife, causing him to drop to his knees. A bullet pierced the back of his skull and sent brain matter flying as I took him out execution style.

Before I could turn my attention to the remaining orc, a blue energy whizzed past the back of my head, singing the ends of my hair that it passed. I turned to the orc and saw him holding a metal contraption of some kind, which seemed to be preparing another blast. Relying on my instincts, I flipped over the orc’s corpse that I had just murdered to dodge another blast. I threw one of my blades and watched it land in the contraption, causing sparks to fly from the device. The orc, visibly surprised, dropped it and recoiled from it. Another knife landed in his head, and his corpse slumped back into the chair he had been sitting in before my entry.

“Hey?!? What the hell is going on out here?” A voice called from the doorway to the other room. “Wait a minute, who are you?” He started to charge me with a black handaxe, the same shade as his black fur. His eyes showing pure hatred and ferocity. My third knife landed in his throat, causing blood to gurgle out of the opening, but it soon slowed to a small trickle. Standing over his corpse, I watched as the life drained slowly from his slitted yellow eyes. I felt no remorse or shame in these killings, yet no eagerness either. These were contract kills. Nothing more, nothing less. Drawing my gun back out, I walked through the door my latest victim had come out of.

The room was empty except for a bound figure in the corner. I slowly approached the figure, who did not seem to react to my approach in any way. Removing the material covering the face, I saw the girl from the picture Luci had shown me earlier, the girl, De’iali, the reason I was here in the first place. Checking her pulse and breathing, I found that she was still alive. She had some cuts and bruises on her, and possibly some other injuries on her, but I couldn’t exactly stop to give her a medical examination right now.

I struggled to pick her up, and eventually was able to get her mostly on my shoulders, but only freeing up my left hand for a weapon, so I carried one of my knives in case of meeting resistance.  Stopping at the door, I took the time to carve a small message into the wall for anyone who would find these orcs later. “-Reaper”. That should throw them off of who really did this, and why. I might even adopt the name for myself if I continue to do this...

Just as I finished my message, a body that I thought had been long dead began to stir. The dark furred one, who had been in the separate room began to sit up. I began charging my blade, and when he had begun to realize what had happened, I threw it into his forehead. His once again lifeless corpse slumped back onto the ground, his head slamming into the ground with a satisfying crack as blood began seeping out of the back of his skull. Satisfied with my work, I headed out, shutting the dented door behind me. Perhaps it could be buffed out? I took mental note of what I had lost. A full magazine and four knives in the bodies. Oh, and part of my hair had been burned off by something that I had no idea what it was made out of. I considered grabbing the device that had been used to attack me, but I was already carrying enough dead weight.

Taking the unconscious eight year old with me, I took the back alleys and dark side streets to transport her. My only real mode of transport was a motorbike, but there was no way to make one and keep her on it, so I carried her. In was late into the night, almost close to morning when I finally made it back to where I had originally met Luci. I laid the girl on the ground next to me carefully, and banged on the door loudly, the same way I had earlier. Looking into the camera, I pointed at the ground next to me.

I was barely able to stay on my feet, but I had done what I’d been asked and even spent my remaining energy ensuring we hadn’t been followed. I was gonna need more tea.

Luci sits by a window in a ramshackled gang hideout in Teir-5 with the Westside Deathblades. She is sharing a hand-rolled cigarette with Princess Hellstab, discussing gang politics and recent news, trying not to think about Batgirl.

"Yeah, a prime in a rooster mask," says Hellstab. "Wiped out Yagnar and his boys just last night. The Knife Ears are looking for him now," the Princess adds. The eight year old sighs, exhaling smoke through her nostrils while Luci braids her hair. The princess's eyes are glued to the street outside window.

"They'll find him," Luci says confidently. "Hopefully before the orcs do!" she teases, eliciting a giggle from the Princess.

"So," says the Princess conversationally. "What are you going to tell Weasel?"

Luci shrugs. "That Dick-Face is dead and Scab got cold feet. She'll be fine when she sees the chems."

They are silent for a moment. "I don't think Moss will like this," says the Princess. Again, silence. "I know what you're doing," Hellstab continues.

There is a knock on the door.

Yukki does not have to wait this time; there is no clicking locks and furniture being pushed around. The doors are swung wide open and several young children usher him inside quickly, grabbing the unconscious form of De'iali and shutting the door behind them. Yukki assesses the surreal scene in front of him. A small gang of children in vaguely Japanese street wear with anime weapons surround De'iali, giving room to a young boy with a plastic stethoscope. The boy puts the toy stethoscope to De'iali's chest.

"Hmm," he says as the collected Deathblades hold their breath. Luci catches Yukki's eye from across the room and grins."She is...going to be fine!" he announces. The children all exhale and start hugging one another. A pair of boys carry De'iali off, Yukki hopes to her parents.

"What about Kerg?" a young boy asks Yukki. He has a red hand print tattooed on his face. Luci also cocks her head to the side, interested.

Yukki shrugs. "The Reaper took him," he says dispassionately.

The tallest boy, a ten-year-old with twin katanas on his hip, walks over to Yukki, sizing him up. The collected gangsters quiet.

The boy stares at Yukki silently for some time. "You saved our friend. You killed our enemies," the boy says. He reaches up to clasp Yukki on his shoulder. "We owe you a debt beyond money. Know that you can always come to the Westside to collect."

The other children nod solemnly.

Yukki doesn't trust himself to speak.

"Ahem," comes a disdainful voice from across the room.

Luci appears at Yukki's shoulder. "I believe her highness Princess Hellstab has made us tea, we should not be rude."

Luci smiles pleasantly at Yukki from across a tiny pink plastic table. They sit awkwardly on the child-sized chairs, sipping fake tea from toy teacups. Princess Hellstab is clearly in her element.

"More tea, Shadow-Kill?" she asks for the fifth time, hefting a teapot.

"Thank you, your highness," replies Shadow-Kill, the tall boy that Yukki had come to learn was the leader of the Westside Deathblades, and the Princess's older brother. The boy leans his cup in for Princess Hellstab to pour more fake tea. She tops off Yukki without asking. The other three at the table then stare at Yukki for a moment.

"Oh uh, thank you, your highness," he says as he sips the fake tea. Princess Hellstab smiles.

Luci pulls out two large wads of cash, each pulsing with the rainbow shimmer of Om. She slides them across the table to Yukki, who tucks them away, not breaking eye contact with her.

"I'm tired," Luci announces, rising from the toy seat and stretching. She walks across the table and kisses him softly on the cheek. "You're welcome to stay," she tells Yukki, somewhat cooly he thought. "There's couches, you might find a bed."

Yukki sips his fake tea and watches Luci phase through a wall into her room, momentarilly leaving behind a glowing rainbow outline visible only to his enhanced senses.

"Be careful," Shadow-Kill tells him with crafted disinterest, following Yukki's gaze.

"Shut up," snaps the Princess. Shadow-Kill shrugs.

"I'm just saying, she took a bounty and turned it into a Want Ad," Shadow-Kill says, with a pointed look at Yukki. "You should just, you know, be careful around chicks like that."

"I think I can handle myself," Yukki says, starting to get defensive.

"Hey," says Luci, phasing through the wall. She has removed the jeans she normally wears and is leaning casually against the wall, tugging her hoodie as far down as she can. She catches Yukki's eye. "Are you coming?" she asks.

Luci watches Yukki sleep softly, the room lit only by her own bioluminescence. The sex was nice, she reflects; the bounty hunter was tender but very strong, very experienced, and a very fulfilling lover.

She leans over as quietly as she can to her bedside table, grabbing a small plastic bag of chems and a marijuana pipe, and of course waking Yukki. Luci shows no sign she has noticed a halt in Yukki's steady breathing, and sprinkles the lightly glowing purple chems on top of a small marijuana bowl. She flicks a lighter, and he stops pretending to be asleep and rolls over, propping himself up on his elbows and watching Luci smoke.

Luci exhales, the multicolred light from her bare breasts bouncing off the smoke and swirling hypnotically. Her gold iris' split into two pools, then four.

"Where are you going?" Yukki asks.

Luci takes another drag, and lays her head on the pillow, appearing to sleep deeply.

Yukki watches as Luci's astral form rises from her body. The two lock eyes, and Luci smiles as she walks through the wall of the house and into the Astral Realm.
