Re-writing an old character, C&C me.
#1
Now here's an old character, we're talking a good 9-10 years ago. When I was just getting punctuation right and had no idea what the word "godmode" meant. A mage character that is designed with combat in mind. I'm re-writing this guy because I saw he has potential to become an interesting addition to my writing arsenal, but probably not for use in the Omniverse. So without further ado I present to you:

Quote:Jack Thunder, the Storm's Trickster (Re-visioning in progress)

Gender: Male

Age: 21

Physical description:

Jack's mischievous grin is generally the first thing one notices when they encounter the Storm's Trickster, a grin that says "Everything is not what it seems." His elongated canines and intense blue eyes give him a bit of a feral look. A head of short and messy blonde hair completes the look. He bears a small triangular purple mark under his left eye. Jack usually wears baggy grey sweatpants and a plain black shirt with short sleeves to allow for maximum maneuvrability, a metal armguard around his right wrist is used for deflecting enemy blows, but that's the only armor he wears.

Personality:

Loud and arrogant to a fault, with a seemingly unquenchable thirst for battle and adventure, Jack loves to rile up allies and enemies alike. His rowdy nature translates into the style of combat he relies on, using a mixture of brutal, magically enhanced hand-to-hand combat and using his magic to create identical decoys to confuse and disoriƫnt his target while striking from unexpected angles. Jack loves to show off, and despises losing and failure. He is rather short-tempered for a quickwitted trickster. Under his rough exterior, Jack cares deeply for those he considers his friends. And he will carry anger, even hatred toward those that would pose a threat to them.

Powers and abilities:

Jack is a skilled mage that uses the elemental magic of lightning. He has dubbed himself "The Storm's Trickster", as his quick wits and cunning have often gotten him out of sticky situations. Despite his "cowardly" nature of fighting, the storm mage can easily hold his own in a battle. Using the power of the storm to pummel his foes with heavy, magically enhanced melee attacks. Jack is renowned for his close range and aerial proficiency, but is very vulnerable to long-range attacks.

Static clone: Jack's trademark spell and the hallmark of his battles. A burst of magic creates a negatively charged area, causing a mirage that looks and behaves as a perfect copy of the caster, the clone has no physical form, and as such physical attacks will harmlessly pass through it. Sufficient magical energy will make it dissipate into thin air, but lightning magic will make it explode in a violent shockwave of electricity, opening a window for the storm mage to begin a brutal aerial assault. Jack also has the option to switch places with them, confounding his enemy by creating the illusion of quite literally being everywhere at once.

Rising Talon: A series of magically enhanced kicks launch the target skyward, this can be used in the air to keep the target in the sky for longer.

Slicing Maelstrom: Jack coats himself in magical energy and launches into a rolling spin, the spinning motion gathers energy which is repurposed to empower his magical coating, making it razor sharp and able to slice through a target like butter.

Background: Jack's past is one shrouded in shadows. Originally a member of a ruthless guild of dark wizards, a young Jack Thunder was sent on a suicide mission by their guildmaster when he realised the child had the power to surpass him. Fueled by the anger and hatred that was the way of his guild Jack set out, unaware of the nature of his mission. The elderly man that was his target had heard of the young mage's intentions long before his arrival, and stood against him on his own.

The child mocked his age and proceeded into a reckless attack, which was easily blocked by the ancient wizard. However much the young mage raged and fought, he could not hit the old man once. Frustration, anger and hatred manifested itself in proceedingly more reckless maneuvres, the battle raged until Jack finally collapsed from exhaustion.

When he woke up, he found himself in a bed. The old man that had so mockingly ignored every one of his attacks was sitting in a rocking chair in front of the lit hearth. "Awake at last." he said, his voice was delicate, but passively demanded respect like the presence of a great warrior. For the first time in his life, Jack felt intimidated. Instead of a scolding, the old man offered him resolve. An opportunity to turn a new leaf. To leave the past behind and become the wizard's apprentice.

"The skies are where the Storm rules."

This is a draft, definitely not a finished work. And I still feel like something's missing. Something... je ne sais quoi. If you happen to have any suggestions I'm always open to them, together we'll make America Jack Thunder great again.
