Don't trust Anyone...
#1
Koal was breathing hard, his moist breath condensing on the inside of his mask, beads of perspiration running down his face underneath his black mask. His long legs pumped back and forth as he ran, vaulting over logs and avoiding thin saplings as he raced through the underbrush of this forest. He had been running for a while now, his encounter with the gunslinger Ballad had left him a little wiser. At the thought of his former travel companion, Koal let out a snarl, his mask reverberated the sound and turned it into a sound far menacing than Koal could have achieved on his own.

The sound of his feet hitting the ground came to a gradual halt, the lack of noise all of a sudden taking Koal by surprise. His shoulders were rising and falling in-time with his breathing. In. Out. Inhale. Exhale. "I need some type of game plan." The half-demon mused as he peered into the distance. The end of the treeline that marked the forest was close, about 20 meters away if he was to guess. Koal removed his mask and wiped a tired hand across his face, the sweat adding a shiny layer to his hand. A disgusted noise tore itself from his throat as he wiped the sweat-drenched appendage on his dark grey jeans. He brushed his black hair out of his eyes and settled the mask back on his face, it fitting perfectly on his face.

In the distance, Koal squinted to see the gate that had led him to this fairy-tale verse. A simple gate made from smooth stone. And that was his way out of this place. Lynch settled his hands on his hips and took a moment to admire the countryside in this late-morning light. Koal then stretched his legs and prepared to run again. He let in a deep breath and held it there for a few moments. When his lungs began to get a slight burn in them, Koal released it. And took off again.

-------------About 20 minutes later----------------

Koal's breathing was labored. "I-," Koal coughed, "I probably need to pace myself. Dont want to kill myself now do I?" Koal chuckled at his bad joke and glanced up at the portal out of here. A blank white landscape. "Ah, what the hell. Might as well get it over with." Koal grumbled out, putting a tentative foot forwards, letting the portal take him.
