October Monthly Accolades (Until November 7th)

Happy Halloween y'all! I tried to figure out a way to make this round of Accolades more Halloween-y. I considered labeling all the titles "Spoopiest ____" but decided against it.

For those of you who are unaware, the Accolades involve nominating (and later, voting for) those who have outdone themselves in a particular area each month. For variety's sake, the categories for each month may be different.

You have until November 7th to nominate your choices. After that, we will proceed to the voting phase where members will vote among the two individuals with the most nominations for each category. An exception to this is if someone manages to get 5+ more nominations than the runner-up, in which case that person becomes the winner by default.

If you wish to participate, think of who stood out the most in a particular category this month and post your choice, along with a 2-3 sentence long explanation, in this thread. You are not barred from nominating your own characters/threads, nor do you have to fill out all the categories.

The winners will become this month's "Community Stars". And what benefits does this bring? Here is an explanation, courtesy of Alex:

As part of being voted as a Community Star/User of the Month (I use the terms interchangeable mainly because Community Star is less formal-sounding than User of the Month), these members gain a color (you must select this in your User CP) and access to the Omni-World R&D forum.  In the past this was my pseudo-private forum, but it's now a place for myself and others to discuss the Omniverse.  This is also the meeting place/brainstorming area for Story Aides and Story Guides, so for all intents and purposes, winning an accolade lets you become a pseudo-Story Aide for the duration of your reign.

Forum access is for the month following a member's selection as a Community Star, and this is irregardless of which 'accolade' you were selected for.

And the categories are:

‘Best’ Character – Which character has you engaged the most?

‘Best’ Writer – Which writer wowed you the most?

Most Helpful – A staffer or a member who gave you amazing feedback on a story or was simply there to help you sort out some of your problems.

Rising Star – Which up-and-coming member stands at the crème of the crop? (must have joined within the last month and a half or have less than 8000 OM)

'Best' Story – What story did you find most riveting/entertaining? Dark Data is excluded from the running.

'Best' NPC – What non-player character (can be a site, personal, or story NPC) entertained you the most (for whatever reason). Please note who the 'owner' of said NPC is, just in case I am not familiar with them.

'Best' Costume – Which character do you think has the best physical appearance?

Purple Ribbon - Consider this a bonus category for nominating someone who, while they may not be the best and have all the twitter followers, you believe deserves to be recognized for what they bring the the Omniverse. (The winner must be a DIFFERENT person than last month's winner; the July-September winner was Blink)

[Ebonywood Hellscythe]

Best Character: Renji (Kuzuru).

He got nominated last time, but man, you gotta love that guy, especially his finale in DD. Fighting him was hella cool, and I love the development his writer is putting into him.

A bunch of primes try to wrap their head around feeling like a strawberry and having their brains mashed together. It was crazy, kinda dumb at points, but worked as an interesting pivotal point to the development of most of the characters involved.

Best Costume: Ebonywood Hellscythe.

Lots of belts, straps, a cloak, boots, and a scythe for maximum coolness. Admittedly, I'm obligated to think Ebony's outfit is the best, but that doesn't mean it's not true. And, the accompanying signature pose (drawn by Tearen) only makes it better.

Purple Ribbon: Cirno.

I can't say I was here through all of it, but Cirno deserves something for the steady improvement in writing. They're not the best out there, but they've definitely progressed.

Oh well. Before I get on to the actual nominations, I should mention that I've been reading Coruscant threads almost exclusively, so if anyone wonders why I've missed out something/one glaringly obvious... that's probably the reason.

I haven't really had time to read much of his writing myself, but he seems to be quickly getting himself involved with the other Undertalers and Guu's faction.

'Best' Story – Davenport Duplex, Apartment 3C (Gunther Stein)
I like it because I feel like he's been doing a great job at introducing his characters and making them seem natural and interesting. As someone who uses a lot of NPCs myself, I could stand to learn a thing or two here.

'Best' Costume – 13-Jzall.
Skitarii may not be as epic-looking as actual tech-priests, but they're still pretty badass.

She's a fairy from hell wearing a goddamn American Flag Clown outift waving around a torch like the Statue of Liberty. I don't really care how badass anyone else and their characters are trying to be, nothing really compares to that.

And I'll offer Rising Star to 13.
Though their OM count is low right now, it certainly seems like they're very dedicated to the shenanigans in Coruscant at the moment. Just gotta hope you don't get caught for that stormtrooper murder, bucko. Good luck. (You didn't hear that from me.)

'Best' NPC: Prometheus (W.D. Gaster) The perfect foil to Gaster, and highly entaining. Definitely worthy of their own mini story arc some day

Rising star- W.D. Gaster. Quickly becomibg a part of the community and my favorite represention of the charater I've seen. And I've seen alot ._.

Best Costume- Desman Black, for his halloween Dress-up of Dust, Tatered clothes, Rock Hard abs... Heck, he was so dedicated he changed his whole molecular stucture, that takes Real skill and dedication. (Also only charater to wear a 'costume' for halloween IC)

‘Best’ Character – Desman Black - He may come off as just a dumb robutt that flips out at silly things like monsterous murders. But he's got layers. =3
Also, he jumped into the underverse for some demon girl he literally just met! #Hero

Most Helpful – Cell, I always see him commenting and helping. And there was like a week there he just answered all my stupid questions for me.

'Best' Character - W. D. Gaster. They've really bounced back from inactivity this past month! I think they're portraying the character in an accurate way, too.

Most Helpful - Takanomiya Hijiri! This person is pretty dang good at interpreting the rules and advising other members. I appreciate this. An excellent writer, to boot.

Shoutout to Mark, Greg, Vision, Trixie, Alex and Daniel for always killing it, though. You guys are the best.

Purple Ribbon - Ebonywood Hellscythe. Really tries to help in the Move Creation Workshop, which is good. Helps to lend some clarity on the more incomprehensible ideas, lol.

'Best' Story – "Dust in the Tower", mostly because it feels good to be back in the Avengers stories.

'Best' Costume – Harlan Higgs, because tbh I saw someone in a costume that was literally your description of your appearance.

Purple Ribbon - Ebonywood, for helping us refine moves. Never realized before what a hassle this is and I'm glad he's doing this.

'Best’ Character – I'm gonna have to go with Malon. It's so easy to write Primes as these fearless juggernauts. Malon is the bravest Prime I can think of, because she acts in spite of her fear, rather than deny it.

‘Best’ Writer – Gonna have to be Ebony Danescythe again. He conveys a very gripping clarity within his posts that is thrilling, yet easy to follow.

Most Helpful – Papa Omni-Sama, for being graciously accomodating of the desires for Tearen's finale and tolerating me bewlshite these past few years.

Rising Star – Gonna have to be Ciellll. Her writing is quite good, despite being an ESL author, and I think she has oodles of potential.

'Best' Story – Genesis of Apotheosis, not because of me, but because of everyone elssse! Tearen would be nothing without people to gawk at his nonsense! You all did a great job getting your Primes into the navel gazing mood.

'Best' NPC – Jade's Mr. Kelvin, from her current thread. Endearing and mysterious, big gentle guy with depth. I hope he lives. :awesome:

'Best' Costume – Desman's human form, son! Best thing to happen to his character. Your roomba body is endearing, but terribly goofy.

Purple Ribbon - Cirno, as usual. Despite being touhou filth, she deserves recognition for her progress.

Please note that to be a Rising Star they have to have joined in the last 1.5 months AND OR have less than 8000 OM. There were a number of people who weren't applicable(?). Lots of votes though. Thanks for everyone who nominated.

Voting will last until November 15th. You may vote even if you hadn't made any nominations. If you have and a nominee you put forth is in the run-offs, you don't have to cast your vote for that specific category (unless you wish to cast your vote for the opponent instead); your nomination will automatically count as a vote for the nominee.

In cases where a member rather than a specific character wins a category, the winner can (if they so desire) post in the Accolades thread which account should get the colour. That way, those members who already have a nifty colour for their master account have the option to display their well-earned pink colour with a different account.
