Story Of A Lifetime...
#1
Lois was not exactly having what one would call a good day. Appearing into nothing with a shadowy figure looming above you was not the most reassuring of things. The conversation that had ensued was oddly one sided. The oddness of it was that it was one sided with Lois unable to say a word. She had tried, certainly, but her mouth wasn't working any better than the rest of her.

And then... she was lying on the ground and control to her limbs was back. Her mind was in chaos. She was confused, whoever it was hadn't answered any of her questions. Feeling was the first sense that came back to her, and then the roar of air pressure against her ears. Her eyes opened and she propped herself up on her elbows, peering around confusedly. She could vaguely remember what had been happening before. Smoke filling the air, her lungs, eyes tearing up as the heat was getting more intense. It was so foggy though, like a memory being watched from under water.

Lois climbed to her feet, peering around the empty landscape. Something felt odd. Not just the surrounding area either, although that was certainly giving her a sense of vertigo. The endless white couldn't be following the laws of physics; her mind was trying to wrap around this reality that was so.... unreal.

Matrix emerged from the Vasty Deep's gate, and immediately held his hand up to shield his eyes. He'd forgotten how intense this bright white realm could be on his one remaining natural eye. He took a second to get his bearings and remember his way around. They'd chosen the Vasty Deeps at random, so navigating the Nexus then hadn't been much of a concern. This time he had to find a specific gate in the midst of all of this. However, his destination was Coruscant, and he felt safe in assuming that it would be one of the easier places to identify.

So he turned and began to walk. With any luck, there would be the presence of those white armored stormtroopers near Coruscant's gate, and he could follow them to it. The last ones had tried to recruit him on his previous visit to the Nexus, so he just told himself he'd avoid any conversation and quietly enter the new Verse. That was already his policy, and he held to it as he passed the occasional person without a word. None of them were stormtroopers, so they held no interest to him.

It wasn't long before he spotted a gate with two stormtroopers guarding it on either side. If he was a betting man, he'd have gambled that this was the way to the Imperial Verse. Not knowing what to expect, just what he needed, he began to walk towards it.

It took a fair amount of walking, but before too long Matrix arrived at the gate. Two stormtroopers stood on either side, their white helmets masking any emotion from showing. Matrix stopped briefly and stood between them, looking from the left to the right one. It was impossible to tell if they were even looking at him.

One thing they didn't do, however, was attempt to halt him, or really communicate with him in any way. Obviously they were used to travelers coming to and from the Imperial capital, and appeared to only be concerned with intercepting persons of interest to the Empire. Thankfully, he had managed to stay far enough below the radar that he did not qualify.

The stormtroopers barely moved as he walked past them and into the gate that transported him to Coruscant.
