The Kid was lieing in the grass. He had never felt so.... Tired. The warm feeling of blood over his own body was beginning to go away. For a moment he wondered if this was a bad sign, until he realized that in just a few short minutes he had undone his month of travel. He was not cold, he was at home. His smoldering, blown to pieces, dead home. He could hardly feel the arrows plugged all into his body. His bastion bourbon had been tapped out quite a while ago. He had not a drop to drink. He layed there, feeling very comfortable in this position. He toyed with the idea of dieing now as he closed his eyes and tried to go to sleep.
"Hey Kid!....." Said the strangers voice, standing over him.
The boy put his hands to the ground and tried to push up, he wanted to look him in the eye. But no, he did not have the strength in his body to do so. He struggled and fell, his eye closing.
"Get up Kid."
Once again, he put his fingers to the earth and tried to stand. But no, his mind could not bear to do so. With a grunt his head hit the floor. He had pushed himself up ferther than it had felt.
"Come on, that aint funny. I said get up."
It was all the Kid could do just to find it within himself to try one more time. His arms buckled, he was ready to fall again and he was sure he could not get up. His hands on the ground turned into fists when he thought of how far he had come however. The boy grit's his teeth and just one more time....
Forces himself to stand up.
He was in the arms of the stranger soon, the stranger who was one of his only friends. He just barely knew that the man went by Rucks. He needed the help to step forward, and having that shoulder to lean on was everything. "Just put that shard in the monument there, and then we'll talk." Said the man. The Kid nodded as he reached to his side. There it was, blood soaked and dripping from the moisture of the ice. The last core this side of the planet. He placed it into the socket, and watched as his whole world glowed. He looked around as the landscape knitted itself together. The cracks and the burns faded away. It was as his home again.
"I've got something to show you." Says the man as he takes him downstairs.
The heart of the bastion, the Boy had seen it thousands, if not an infitite amount of times. But right now it was as if he had only ever known about it once. He knew the choice, without them even saying anything it was clear to him. Abandon the old world for the new one, or live on in this one with them. The young man stood up on his own two feet as he looked at the button that would lead to them leaving and the lever which would lead to the entire world coming back together again. He reached out for it, and everything went white just as his fingertips made contact.
A while later
Falling...
Why was he always falling. The mans words couldn't have been true, surely despite how far he had came he simply did not have it in his body to pull the simple switch. His friends would do it sure but... Ground? Why could he see such a great amount of ground down there if he was suppose to be-
*THUD*
He landed, quite surreal given that he expected not too. "GOD Dakuja!" He said as he recoiled from the pain. He squirmed a bit on the ground before he pushed himself off. He was cleaned, unstained. He had the clothes on his back and they weren't bloody. The pain from the fall had already started going away. The boy was taking deep breaths, his heart pounding.
Several seconds later he looked around. There were a number of gates that looked like they led to places...... Hmm.... Well he was hardly going to gain anything sitting here. He headed off for one particular way that looked like it had the least life in it. All sorts of dangers could be hiding around here, no reason to risk it.
