Possible to do a game within a game?
#1
This is something I want to discuss and make sure I stay within what the site allows as soon as I start.

Basically: I want Aeris to build up a game within the Dataverse, called the Shardworld (you can read up on it in my profile) which would be a game within a game. I'm not sure if this would be at all possible (rules-wise and is Omni okay with this?), and if so what the limitations and conditions on it would be.

The extended version: Aeris would rebuild the "Shardworld" game inside the Dataverse by finding some off, unoccupied location there and establishing a set of "rules" through coding (as in, how this game works), which ONLY works within that location (it would not influence anything else in the Dataverse). The game should be open to anyone who can access the dataverse directly or through VR. It would probably be an overly easy way to make tons of OM if you could access it through a Mobile DV Device and play the game parallel to your character being in a different verse doing their stuff. It would take her a lot of time and effort to build up something like this, she wouldn't summon it out of nowhere in ten minutes.

Now, here's some bulletpoints about it. I don't think I've covered every detail though, but I'm trying my best.

-The game takes the shape of an MMORPG, with various unnamed NPCs running around being cannon fodder as well as a handful of "boss" characters.

-"Players", which is to say Primes and Secondaries who enter the game as a player, recieve a separate set of gear (weapons, armor etc.) which does not carry on outside of the Shardworld. Basically, leaving the location within which the game coding is functional will cause all their stuff to disappear until they come back. It would be possible for someone to summon items outside the game using Omnilium if they want to keep it, though obviously it would have to be within the site rules for moves, stats etc.

-Primes and secondaries are adjusted to a specific power level to avoid people who upload themselves having an advantage in-game over VR players. Primes and Secondaries die like anywhere in the Dataverse. (obviously using VR rather than self-upload is more popular as a result). Perhaps a "Death list" or something would be established so that Primes know if some secondary died after fully uploading themselves.
It's kind of a dick move to people who have sunk a lot of OM into more stats, but they are toned down to a total of 10 as well.

-Moves, stats etc. carry over from the Omniverse. However finding Shardworld-exclusive items etc. can enhance the moves beyond that. For instance, a character may find armor that gives "4 defense". Users may make up their own items, though some form of power limit should still be respected (no "Megasword of Instagib"s). I might put some form of cap here. That gear doesn't carry over. As mentioned earlier, the gear stays within the game.

-Repeating myself here: the rules to play the game are NOT meant to interfere with the Omniverse rules. I can't stress this enough: it would be a set of rules within the Omniverse rules with no clashes in the ideal case.

-Administration-wise I would create a thread in Omniverse Discussion, Soulsverse or wherever the site-mods believe it to be appropriate, where I can edit the original post. This would be to list the rules, cannon-fodder NPCs, possible "tasks" within the game (not to be confused with site quests like the Void quests) as well as list the most important pieces of equipment. I would also list and explain the bosses, post a map picture of the game and so on. A link to that thread would be posted on the first post of the thread where the game takes place so people know where to look.

Questions: (outside of "is this doable?")
-Would I have to submit a specific NPC request for the "cannon fodder" monsters? What about "boss" characters? (neither of these would ever go outside the game location, let alone the Dataverse)
-What forum should I put the thread into that I can edit?

Sounds rad. I'm all about this. Since you're using your own game rules, you don't have to submit NPC requests. Unless you're using a prime player character, that kind of thing.

You can build it up in the Dataverse for now. If it gets big enough I might give it a separate sub forum, but I can't give you editing privileges in any IC forums.
Curious about me and the characters I play? See the 'Staff' page! See also the rosters for my characters Samus Aran or Enel if you'd like to see examples of well-formatted rosters. Hope you enjoy the Omniverse!

This is an awesome idea. Might have BWNN join up

It reminds me of Greed Island from Hunter X Hunter.

Afraid I never read Hunter X Hunter x3 I was picturing a VR MMO along the lines of the dothack series, or even the Matrix.
