This is a thing that is happening.
In this topic, right here, Dante the half-devil demon slayer is about to throw down with Zangetsu the sword spirit over some crap about the former being spiritually impaled and the latter being something of a smartass.
The challenge has been proposed with the following rules:
3 rounds (for 6 posts, 3 each)
800-word limit for posts
48-hour interval for next player to post
Dante will take the first post to engage
We have yet to decide upon a judge because I am indecisive and I don't know who has actually judged before and would have experience with this.
I accept.
any who wish to judge posteth here. <3
I'm am uber pumped for this.

Alex has judged a fight, Sarah has judged a big fight with the after math of the Tarraque thing, Wyatt has judged a fight. They use the Standard Alex Scorecard of Grading.
Not sure if there are others that have judged a fight(I don't count predetermiend fights), but staff members can judge them., and use the standard card
Those above mentioned are either slightly inactive, or have full plates. I'd suggest Thaal, once again, though. He has no promblem giving C&C and has definately been in a few fights.
I refuse to lose this battle,
Let whatever come my way.
I am stronger then my rival,
No, I will not fall today...

*Throws name in Hat*
I've never judged a fight, but I KNow A few staff memebers I could lean on. Again, my Judging Card would be different, only because I don't feel I could ever judge someone on grammar mistakes. I would make Grammar Readability or FLow.
Other then that., I actually have A LOT of expereince win writing fights. =D

Here's how I grade fights:
Description and Clarity:
This section covers how effectively the writer created the world around the reader. Making sure that the reader can understand what is being described, using vivid or appropriate descriptions of items, events and people in the story and having good word choice all go into this section of the review. Note that using “purple prose” is not always effective, nor is consistently using flat, dry description. A writer that gets a good score in this section draws the reader into the world and allows them to see through the eyes of the character/narrator.
Voice:
No two writers write in the same style, nor should they. Even individual stories call for individual writing styles, a mood that creates a tinted lens through which the story is viewed. This is traditionally called the “voice” of the writer and it is a very important part of writing. A writer with a high score in this considers tone, pacing and including/disincluding detail throughout the entire story.
Character:
Character development, the actions and motivation of characters and dialogue are all important in this section. The goal is to create “round” characters as opposed to “flat” ones. Making the people in your writing seem real, not just archetypes following a plot progression is the goal here. The writer should consider who the people they are writing as are as individuals, why they take certain actions, their personal problems and boons, how they interact with the world around themselves and how they approach problems are all considerations for a writer in this section. Note that not all GOOD characters are LIKABLE characters. If you really hate a character that’s well written, this section deserves a good score!
Story:
Every body of creative writing, no matter how short or long, follows a storyline. How well the themes, events, messages and twists grab the reader is what makes the difference between a decent story and a great story. The writer must capture the reader’s attention hold it with the actions of characters and the world around them. This isn’t to say that a writing must be packed with action or intrigue, even something as simple as eating breakfast can be made into a great story. The presentation of events and how those events tie into the writer’s voice is what makes it good reading.
Grammar and Spelling:
This is the clerical work of the body of work. Spelling, punctuation, grammar and anything else that can be considered technical goes into this section. Generally every major grammatical error per 500 words moves this section down one grade.
I can only judge if you intend to have this finished by Friday at the latest (so I can grade it over the weekend).

After a bit of consultation between Zangetsu and I, Thaal Sinestro has been chosen as our judge. With Zangetsu having accepted, we have both agreed to start this battle tomorrow (that's Thursday, September 17), in which I will take the first post to engage.
As an overview of the rules, in the special ruleset template:
Word Limit: 800
Posts Per Player: 3
Time Limit: 48 hours
Random Elements: Off
Damage Meter: Off
Judge: Thaal Sinestro

In the interest of making this fight look less short and more interesting, Zangetsu and I have clarified something between us, and I'm posting it here so that everyone else can also know for the sake of this fight:
So long as nobody is taking damage and neither side has an extreme advantage, the exchange of several neutral attacks between characters within one post is an okay thing to do. This means that one can just have the two fighters clash plainly swords or something similar for brief while, as opposed to where something like a move or a decisive blow would warrant the other player's input.

Yeah, that's pretty standard for Omniverse anyways. It makes narrative stories a lot better.

Of course, we didn't exactly know that stuff before, and I wasn't sure of that kind of stuff for fights, but looking through the example fight it seems like it's acceptable.

Miranda Frost Wrote:the majority of the sites i rped at usually went by either "The stats determined how many combat actions you took" oor the "One Defensive action and one offensive action" this combat system is a little new to me. Yup. Essentially, you're allowed to write a story. If your story involves injuring the other person, that's ok! However, a person "bunnying" or "God moding" really just very good writing. There's no talent in closing off all of your opponent's options. Also, if another writer integrates that injury in an interesting way into their writing, that shows that they have a good writing skill, so in many ways the other writer injuring you opens up opportunities for you to write more creatively!
