I was told I should do my EventVerse thing so I'm tell it to you here. I came up with this ideA out of boredom and would like to thank those select few who encouraged me to post it here. The EventVerse is a verse where, for a month, player characters are placed in an accurate universe such as Star Trek, or Speed Racer, and given roles like out of a movie. Some know what is happening and others just play their part. So, for instance, you have Star Trek for a month, then we take names and draw roles for them. So Lara ends up as an Engineer and you end up as a captain or something, or vice versa. Some events will have quirks added to them, like if we did a Jurassic Park/World one then we would be without our powers and whoever dies is kicked out of the EventVerse for the remainder of the event... It's a game of survival there. Scenarios will be provided for each player, so maybe I have to fix something in the warp core on the Voyager or maybe we encounter Romulans, the scenarios are up to the submitter of that month's event and the mods and a select council of people chosen for their creativity. You're given a role and you have to play it. This is as much for fun as it is to educate writers on being more versatile in their skills and the areas in which they can write. It's my thesis that providing random events and scenarios in a grpup writing setting improves one's skill in that area and expands your horizons
It happens once a month, for a total of twelve events a year. Of course it isn't set in stone so the events may take longer if necessary.
Remember this is a rough draft of the idea, please ask your questions, give your suggestions and your input here!

Everyone will be involved, rewards will be given, and whether or not your characters remember this or not is uo to you but whether or not they know what's going on or they are just playing their part is up to the staff. Rewards can range from items, such as a fully functioning ridiculously versatile phaser from the event, or a wand from Harry Potter imbued with the ability to let you cast spells, to Omnilium or a free secondary character based on how well you interact with the universe and how active you are. After the completion of each character's scenario, say the bridge crew battling Klingons and Lara repairing the shields, a new scenario is given to each of the players based on the damage to the ship (again using Star Trek as an example) and a great many other things such as the captain's orders.
The events will not be staff chosen, so if someone submits Star Trek and others submit other universes the community votes on them. This is amproject for the community and it has a focus on improving interaction between us all and letting us explore avenues we never would have even thought of before, like seriously what if Lara became headmaster of Hogwarts? That'd be ridiculous. What if we got a little more ingenious and went with lesser explored media like Speed Racer, Divergent, Skyfall, and other things? What if we lost our powers, or had all our powers replaced by something else? With the EventVerse anything is possible and for a certain amount of time you experience something new before doing it again, and maybe you'll find your new love?
Moving onto the Council of the EventVerse I would like to explain that they and staff are in. Charge of scenarios, setting event rules, and deciding what quirks, perks, and rewards are given. This group has near complete control of the EventVerse and will be made up of people that are both the site's modt creative members and have a good understanding of the rules. They will work together with staff to hammer out all the details and a Skype group will be hosted by myself so that we may convene in real time in a comfortable setting that allows us to explore our creativity, dish out judgement if necessary, and come up with new ideas.

I would say that maybe it should be like the beach thread and be non-canon as people getting pulled into a verse once a month for who knows how long could interfere with story lines. or maybe have it be canon but every 2 months. Otherwise this sounds like a very interesting idea that could help people with the flexibility of there writing.

You could even host events to be run every now and then as NPCs. That way your Primes don't have to get sidetracked, and instead you can enjoy the event as whoever is appropriate for the event.

The EventVerse is canon but it would not interfere with current roleplays, they won't be "sucked away" from their current roleplays.

Hmm, maybe, but the entire part of this is to experience it with your Primes as whatever character you use is the one getting the rewards. I like your idea, though, but the community and mods will have to give their opinion so it's possible that we could do yours or people could experience both as the same time.

If wishing this to be a canon event that does not interfere with storylines, it could be something done through the Astral Realm. As people fall asleep, some powerful being plucks their spirits out and draws them to a portion of the Astral Realm that has been designed towards whatever specifications.
From the perception of those involved it would feel real and despite how long the event goes on could in Verse happen in a matter of seconds, as it all passes by like a dream.

The whole point of this is that it's all real. I already went over this clarification with some people in chat, plus if it happened in the Astral Realm then people couldn't get their rewards. If people don't want their characters to remember the EventVerse that's fine, as it would mean that it would have no bearing IC aside from their rewards. I apologize if I seem stubborn on this point but I designed the entire EventVerse around its being real. Of course if I have no other choice an exception can be made.

Are you implying that the Astral Realm is not real?
Edit: Because the Astral Realm does exist as part of the Omniverse anything that happens in it is real and canon. Now, being that the Astral Realm is also its own, unique portion of the Omniverse, time does not necessarily need to flow at the same rate as it does in other Verses. An event that takes days, weeks or even months to complete in the Astral Realm could use up no more than than a few seconds or minutes outside the Astral Realm.
Any rewards granted as a result of the event could be summoned to the character's physical body because that is what Omnilium allows people to do. The cost of the summon would be 'hand waved' because it was already paid for through participating in the event.

Alright, we'll do it this way. It will take place in the Astral Realm, but the EventVerse may be so big it needs its own subforum instead of one thread so that it's not ridiculously confusing with too much going on. Like for one event, say Star Trek, there's a new thread for each part of the ship. Engineering, medical lab, the bridge, stuff like that ^_^

If each event is going to be separate, having an Archive Sub-Forum to place old threads from the previous event would leave an Eventverse Forum/Sub-Forum free so you could simply make threads for each part of the ship/city/continent/world/etc. etc.
For instance, you could have a thread simply titled "The Bridge" and all RP involving the bridge would be done in that thread. Whenever a certain series of events concludes, such as a few members working out some sort of com signal coming from a planet or object nearby before they went down to the shuttle bay, the last person posting would indicate the play was moving from The Bridge to The Shuttlebay by linking to The Shuttlebay thread at the end of their post.
Then, if any new RP started on The Bridge they would simply post in the thread and play until that person/group was finished and moved to another area of the ship.
This would not only allow you to custom design the event and its locations but keep you from having extraneous Forums/Sub-Forums if you had an event that didn't involve a ship.

I'm not sure if you have passed this through with other Staff Members but every "Event" would need to be cleared through a Staff Member. (Also it cannot be canon and NOT take someone away from their storyline)

Briefly, I had mentioned this could take place in the dataverse, as a tv show like Law and Orker

Why should that matter? Make it non-mandatory to join and that way everyone has a saga/event to look forward to every month. Plus you'll constantly have a different mix of players. Granted once a month would be really intense regardless, lol

I apologize but I don't see the difference between it being canon and it being non-canon, everything would happen exactly the same. And yes, I know it will have to be approved each event. That's the point of convening with staff >_>

That would be smart.

We can either have a vote for the Astral Realm or the Dataverse, or have staff decode which would be best. I'm not sure which I want to do, because they're both interesting prospects.
((By the way, thank you for responding everyone. We'll host the votes and everything once everyone has entered in their suggestions, cuz I can't be the only one deciding thinggs if people want to be happy.))

There's huge incentive for it to be canon, though. You get omnilium out of it and it "matters," so to speak. It's IC; it's part of your character's progression, etc.

If it takes places in the Astral Realm, once the event has started and each person has made their first post, they can then link that post somewhere into their current Omniverse RP while their character is sleeping, or day dreaming, or thinking about something. The Event RP would be what occurred during that moment but they would not remember everything that happened then. This would allow it to be a canon event because it could technically take place within a few seconds of in canon time even if it takes a real month or longer to RP it out.
Edit: Characters already in the Astral Realm when the Event starts could even just seem to fade or flicker for a moment. Whatever causes some sort of disruption or time gap into which the Event could fit.
After the event was finished and each person was given whatever reward for their participation, in their current Omniverse RP they could link the reward post/thread into another moment where they recalled the Astral Event and from their recollection summoned their reward item.

I like the prospect of this. It seems like a Law and Order RP would be funny as hell. I want to play Jurassic Park style tho.
Have you already decided on what kind of setting we would be playing in?

Just in case no one is aware, there's an Isla Nublar already in the Vasty Deep.

I like the basic concept but I already basically think that most of our big "events" are based on this idea. And based on past experience, saying you can run one once a month is crazy talk. For one, people don't post that fast and once they get going they really get into a story and it'll end up taking two or three months if you're lucky.
In short, I like the idea of members running their own little events like this and even ones that take place in new "events verses" but people need to be in it for the long haul and for that reason I tend to restrict it to members who have been around for a while.
I already have several storyline concepts based around this idea. No time to run them now though.
Curious about me and the characters I play? See the 'Staff' page! See also the rosters for my characters Samus Aran or Enel if you'd like to see examples of well-formatted rosters. Hope you enjoy the Omniverse!
