No DigiDestined?
#1
Black. All Guilmon could see was pitch black. It wasn't the pitch black that came from a lack of light, though. Guilmon could see his body just fine. It was as red as it had ever been. One could only assume that Guilmon was alone, or dead. He tried to take a few steps, but with no landmarks - or land, for that matter - to lead him, there was no way to tell whether he was actually traveling or not. The lack of land only compounded Guilmon's confusion.

Involuntarily, Guilmon blinked. In the split second that his eyes were shut, a white creature had appeared in front of him. This creature was sitting casually on the non-existent ground, as if it had been there the entire time. The diminutive humanoid was completely white. It had a strange, white glow that didn't seem to affect the "darkness." Even more strange was that the creature's face had only one feature: a giant, smiling maw.

As the creature began to explain Guilmon's situation to him, Guilmon began trying to circle around it. The pure white being made no movements, but somehow always managed to move with Guilmon's eyes - always in front, always "staring," and always smiling.

To Guilmon, this white creature looked kinda like a Yukidarumon, but it was too thin and too short. And Yukidarumon had eyes and a nose, but no mouth. Guilmon decided to call it "Warudarumon." Even thought it was quite clear that "Warudarumon" was no Digimon, Guilmon didn't know what else to call it. When "Warudarumon" slowly stretched out its hand towards Guilmon, he grew excited. He had not bee paying attention to "Warudarumon," so Guilmon thought that the little shimmering light in its hand was food. Opening up his mouth, he began to salivate, hoping that it tasted as good as it looked. However, he was sorely disappointed when the simmering orb floated to his claws, rather than his mouth.

Confused, Guilmon closed his mouth, lifted up the sphere of many colors, and tilted his head to the side like a puppy. The shiny globule began to seep into Guilmon's reptilian hide.

With "Warudarumon's" last words lingering in the air, the "visible" area began to fade into white. "Warudarumon" faded into nothing, leaving the reptilian Digimon to wonder what, exactly, had just happened.

It seemed like forever before the "scenery" stopped getting whiter. Once it was completely white, Guilmon glanced around. He had seen a few strange things in the Digital World, but this? This was a whole new experience for Guilmon. Stranger still, this white world was not solely white. Off in the distance, Guilmon could see specks. He couldn't tell what they were from here, though. Without so much as an iota of thought, Guilmon stated to walk towards one of the specks. A sensation under his taloned feet made him stop and look down. Grass?! Guilmon could not contain his excitement. In a world such as this, green grass - or any grass, for that matter - should have been an impossibility. Guilmon's thoughts were somewhere else, though. They were more along the lines of "Grass~ grass~ let's roll in the grass~"

As he was rolling around in the grass, he noticed that a couple of feet in front of him, the grass kinda just faded into the white ground. Behind him, Guilmon witnessed what was probably the greatest thing he had ever seen. A Fountain that stood approximately fifteen feet tall and nearly ten feet from edge to edge was now in front of him. Rising from the center of the Fountain was a symbol that felt familiar to Guilmon, but he was sure he had never seen before now. It seemed to be floating mere inches above the water, rotating in a slow, clock-wise motion. Around it, a stream of data coding seemed to be spinning the other direction, but twice as fast. And as if to make light of Guilmon's situation, a string of words scrolled around it, following the path of the strange symbol: "Welcome, Prime, to the Omniverse!"

Guilmon had never seen a language other than the Digital World's characters written out before, but he somehow knew what these ones said. His high-pitched, nasally voice almost startled him when he finally spoke.

"Wel...come... P...rime... to... the... Om...ni...verse?" Tilting his head again, Guilmon pieced the sentence together. He knew "welcome" was an invitation of sorts to stay for a while, which made Guilmon grin. Although, his lack of real lips and his mouth full of carnivorous teeth probably made it look more like a snarl than a smile. The rest of the sentence made less sense. Guilmon didn't know who "Prime" was; Guilmon had never met him before. Thinking "Prime" might still be around, Guilmon quickly glances around. Not seeing "Prime" was a disappointment to say the least. Turning his attention back to the message, Guilmon ponders what "Omnieverse" meant. Still unsure and growing annoyed, the closest thing Guilmon could think of was Omnimon, whom was sometimes called Omegamon.

After a little over a minute passed, Guilmon's brain started to hurt. Holding his head with a clawed hand, Guilmon sat down on the grass with a plop. He grumbled something about the Fountain and left it at that. It was all too much for him to think about right now anyway. With nothing left to occupy his mind, Guilmon's thoughts began to wander aimlessly.

He had been daydreaming about the Village of Beginnings when he heard a new sound. It was a mechanical sound that seemed to reverberate around him. The clanging and scraping of metal on metal lasted a few seconds. When it finished, Guilmon heard the metallic clang and whirring of a robot walking towards him. He turned his head towards the sound, expecting to see Andromon or some other robotic Digimon. Instead, he saw a 20-foot-tall robot. Its hull/"skin" was a mix of black and dark grey. On the left side of its chest, Guilmon's keen eyes picked up a red, disjointed face. Guilmon had to look up, and further up, as the metal man traveled towards him.

"Well, hello there, little creature." Despite the newcomer's robotic appearance, his voice had none of the mechanical "tang" that most robots are portrayed as having. It was a low, baritone voice that was soothing to Guilmon's heightened hearing.

"Uh, hi? Are you Guilmon's Tamer?" Guilmon's high, nasal voice brought a chuckle to the robot's deep voice. Unsure why, the mechanical giant chuckled, Guilmon tilted his head to the side. This comically view made the robot snicker.

The robot grinned and held back any further laughter. "Tamer? No, little one, I am no tamer. I am an Autobot. My name is Gladius Prime."

Guilmon's ears perked up. "'Prime?'" He quickly hopped to his feet, thinking he had just found "Prime." "Is that message for you, then?"

"A message, you say?" Kneeling down for a better look, Gladius Prime reads the message on the Fountain. "Hm. The Fountain changes in appearance each time a new prime is Summoned. You must not have listened to Omni..."

"Omni? Who's that? Is Omnimon here?" Guilmon's puzzled look exuded a sigh from Gladius Prime.

"Omni was the white humanoid that spoke to you earlier." A look of recognition spread over Guilmon's face. Before Guilmon could say anything, Gladius Prime continued. "Ah, I see you know at least that much, little one." Gladius Prime stood back up. "Perhaps this will be easier to explain if we were closer in size..." With that comment, Gladius Prime began to transform. The clanging and scraping of metal returned, leading Guilmon to believe that this new friend was the source. After a few seconds, Gladius Prime had shrunk down to about six feet tall and was much leaner than before. When he spoke again, his voice was more of a tenor than the baritone of moments before. "What you see now is the form I was given when I was brought here. In this form, I am known as Gradian."

"You have other forms?! Are you a Digimon, too?!" Guilmon's excitement was carried heavily in his voice.

"It seems that I have as much to learn as you do... Pray tell, what is a Digimon?"

"You don't know? A Digimon is a Digital Monster. Everyone in the Digital World knows that, sillymon!"

"There are two flaws in your logic, then, my friend. One, I am a Cybertron, a race of sentient machines - autonomous robotic organisms. Many find calling us Autobots much easier to remember. Two, we are not in the 'Digital World,' as you call it. This is the Omniverse. More specifically, The Nexus. The one place that is connected to every other Verse in the Omniverse."

The words of Guilmon's new companion echoed through his empty mind. "This is the Omniverse." Pondering what this strange robot meant left Guilmon even more confused than before.

"Then, where is the Digital World?"

"If anywhere, it is possible that it is... hm." Gradian paused to think for a moment. "I believe it would be in the Dataverse."

"Da...ta...verse? Is there a Datamon there, too?"

"I have not visited the Dataverse, but I have no reason to doubt that this 'Datamon' could be found there. If it is anything like the Earth's Internet that Optimus Prime told me about, you can find pretty much anything there. Or instructions on how to make one, of course."

"Can you take Guilmon there? To the Dataverse?"

Gradian chuckled. "That is the thing, my juvenile friend... You can take yourself to the Dataverse. All you need is enough Omnilium to make a Dataverse device. Granted, a Dataverse Device may just be a way to view the information it holds rather than a way to travel there."

"How does Guilmon get one? Maybe Guilmon find a Tamer there?"

"You really didn't pay attention to Omni, did you?" Gradian sighed. "Fine. I suppose it is a good thing you ran into me rather than one of the corrupted Primes." Gradian spends the next few minutes explaining how Omnilium works, how to get more, and why it was so important.

He finished his explanation with a question for Guilmon. "What are your plans now, my friend?"

"Guilmon wants to find a Tamer! Maybe the Dataverse can help Guilmon?"

Exasperated, Gradian sighs again. "Very well. Just think of how you want your Dataverse Device to look and concentrate on it. It will take a few minutes to Summon."

Guilmon plops back onto the grass, crosses his arms, shuts his eyes, and begins to think. It took longer than Gradian thought it would, but he attributed that to the red reptile's child-like mentality.

Gradian watched as a machine with long arms, four short legs, and a dome-encased CPU began to appear. Almost horrified, Gradian took a step backwards, Whatever mechanical abomination this new prime was thinking of was beyond the Cybertron's comprehension. When it finally fully materialized, the four-foot-tall machine blinked repeatedly, as if it were looking at something for the first time.

"Where... where am I?" Before either prime or Prime could answer, the strange machine spoke again. "Ah. I see. The Nexus is quite lackluster..." Gradian was shocked that the thing could tell where he was so quickly. Guilmon hopped up and raised his arms in joy.

"Yay~ Guilmon did it!"

The new machine looked at Guilmon. "A Guilmon? Of course. You are a rare species in the Digital World. It only makes sense that Omni would Summon you here..."

"What are you? You are clearly a sentient machine like myself, but you lack a Spark."

"A 'Spark,' you say? That is easily rectified. All I would have to do is connect two of my loose wires. Their close proximity would procure the spark."

"I see. So you are a sentient machine, but not from the Cybertron race... How interesting."

"Datamon give Guilmon Tamer now?"

The shorter robot stared at Guilmon with a look of shock. "Even after coming to this place, you still want a Tamer?" Datamon looked to Gradian for help, but the taller robot only shrugged.

Sighing, Datamon starts to browse the Dataverse, making various accounts on Social Media, Media Sharing, and the like. He makes a tweet on OmniTwitter. "Fine. I sent out a message on the Dataverse. If someone wants to be your tamer, that is on them. And by extension, you."

"So Guilmon will have a Tamer? Yay!"

"I thought I had asked this already, but 'What is a Tamer?'"

Before Guilmon could come up with some dumb-ass answer, Datamon shushed him. As Guilmon pouted, Datamon explained. "A few digital centuries ago, humans were somehow brought into the Digital World. Although it still remains a mystery, humans have entered our world countless times since then. Many believe our god, Yggdrasil, brought them over from their own world. Others believe it to be scientists - the theories range from one side or the other to both sides working together. There were other theories, but many of them make no sense.

"What matters is that humans seemed to have an innate ability to show up when the Digital World needed them most. Even among the humans that ended up in the Digital World, few could really be called 'Tamers.' Another word often used was 'Digi-Destined.' Originally, Digi-Destined were mere children who embodied certain ideals. Among them, Courage and Friendship were the strongest. Increasing their strength with Light and Hope, and accompanied by Love, Knowledge, Reliability, and Kindness, the Digi-Destined repeatedly defeated evil."

"So a Tamer is a human child capable of defeating evil?"

"Originally, yes. But at one point, a company in the human world transported hundreds of humans, many of whom were considered adults, via a video game. They were all considered Tamers, with a few exceptions. Yggdrasil gave a few of them the ability to become Digimon themselves. With thei help, the Tamers stopped Vandrakemon from reviving ShadowGodmon."

"Guilmon doesn't remember that part!"

"Pah! I believe that! Your juvenile mind probably doesn't even remember your breakfast!"

"In any other circumstance, I would understand your annoyance, Datamon. However, it may be possible that Guilmon here Summoned you from a different Timeline than his. One that diverged some point in either his past or his future. After all, that's how the Multiverse works."
