Mandatory Roster Field: Source
#1
So I'm an old man fuddy duddy and do not watch anime. There are a lot of anime characters on this site but I have no idea what their source material is. Also there are OCs that do not explicitly state anywhere, except their joining post, that they are indeed OCs.

To make it easier to place characters, I suggest adding a field into the character profile called 'Source' that says where the character's show/game/book is from, or just 'Original Character' if that is the case.

I think this is a good idea.

I agree wholeheartedly! Up with the 'Source' field!
#6
Also, the possibility of a "point of separation from the canon" would probably be useful, though Source should be totally obligatory imo

This actually seems a little too obvious. We should totally do it!

My friend, I have had this idea for ages now. Great minds think alike, I guess.

I'm not sure if something like this can be coded in. According to the boss-man the forum is highly-customized and certain things are just incredibly hard to do. This is a question for Omni and whether or not he wants to include it really.

This could be solved by just googling the character. Idea

What if the character is an OC from a particular universe? Googling Ichigo from Bleach is simple to figure out, but Seraph from the same universe would be a bigger problem.

We could just put it in the standardized roster thing that we call get. Underneath name and above the powers and all that jazz.

Well.. just look for their joining posts? may take a few minutes, but at the moment, that's the simplest solution
#15
The problem with that is for people that have changed characters, it's not as simple as clicking to the last page. I know the annoyance of having to guess which page I should click to to find a particular join form. I think putting it in their roster makes more sense, especially on a forum like this that by design has basically any media you can think of as a source.

Just my two cents, though. It's obviously up to staff.

If this was the case, citing their source would be ineffectual, since Seraph does not exist in Bleach. However, I see your point. Just knowing his character inspiration comes from Bleach I suppose would be helpful.

Oh, I misunderstood. I thought you guys meant like adding it beneath the character avatars like next to posts. We can certainly start including character source on the actual roster pages.

Right. I mean, you'd still have to read their vault to get their character personality and such, but you'd be doing the same by Googling. Putting it in the roster just simplifies the search. For example, finding Gilgamesh's info is difficult if you don't know where to look, as there are many Gilgamesh results on Google for various things.

I actually assumed the same as Sarah. Placing the source in with Rosters would be easy-peesy.

You could just put the character's name in the search bar...
