Main Thread Here
Google Doc for collaborating (work in progress)
Hello. Once upon a time, I wrote a lot of Battle Royale-related fiction on many websites, not the least of which was Dante's Abyss. I liked it. I miss it. A lot. But I also recognize that Alex has a pretty good handle on the competitive genre here, so in order to satiate my urges, I've decided that I'm gonna do a narrative story instead. It will probably take a very long time, but I am excited by the creative opportunities here. I made this thread here so anyone can comment or join in if they want.
How it works IC:
-The game runs just like the popular BR game PLAYERUNKNOWN's Battleground. The name is designed to be just as dumb. I think I succeeded.
-All characters are volunteers, whether they signed up on their own or are playing to settle a crime or debt.
-The players jump out of a plane in the beginning and land somewhere on a big empty island. There are towns (big and small), farms, shacks along the roads, etc etc.
-Buildings contain weapons and items of varying degrees of usefulness. The better stuff will be in areas where they are more buildings, but the risk is that more people will go there.
-Over time, a circle will appear on the map and everyone must be inside the circle to continue playing. As time goes on, the play area will continue to shrink more and more until it is only big enough for a few people.
-Players have a watch which tells them where they are on the map, how many players are left, and how much time before the play area shrinks.
-Some characters have joined together, so could have prior relationships.
How you can participate:
-Read and/or comment
-Give story ideas, predictions, suggestions, etc.
-Submit characters for me to take and write gruesome action scenes with. Feel free to be as vague or specific as you want. Characters have to be original secondaries.
-Coordinate with me to actually write, whether it be a one-off scene or just joining in to write as often as you like.
Character submission template (optional usage):
Again, you can be as vague or detailed as you want. Combat style would be any powers, abilities or profiencies they have. Background would be anything important in their history and/or what led them to the game. Approach to Game would be how they are playing this particular game (ex. hiding out, hunting others, using alliances, etc etc). Feel free to make multiple characters if you want.
This thread is mainly for coordination if anyone wants to just write or submit areas. I'll be tracking all the participants, locations, items etc etc as I come up with them. Hope you enjoy, either way. I definitely am so far.
