[Faction] Heaven and Earth Interest Check

This has been in the planning for a while now, but it's time to come into the open: Heaven and Earth is a faction that Amber and I plan to establish, if the interest is present! Note that there are still a number of open ends, and while the base structure is down many things will still be subject to change.

The faction

The brief: Heaven and Earth is faction geared towards bringing peace and prosperity for the Frozen Fields. It is divided into two main branches: Heaven is geared towards civilian interest while Earth is more of a militia. Players who join one branch are still part of a single faction and can work for both sides simultaneously.
The faction emphasizes on its duality, yet how the branches work together to achieve greater goals. Neither branch controls the other nor do they interfere with each other's assigned tasks. They both have their own respective leaderships, authority and even bases.

The goals

Heaven and Earth has both goals as a faction as a whole, and goals for its two branches. As a whole, the faction aims to:
-Establish peace in the Frozen Fields, which is to say ending the war between the dwarves and trolls, or forcing it into a "cold war" state where the active combat is relatively insignificant. A sub-goal would be to find ways to "redirect" the instinctual thirst for battle, especially from the trolls, to prevent outbreaks.
-Achieve prosperity in the verse, making a dangerous and avoided verse more habitable and possibly even interesting to tourists.
-Establish a network of military alliances with other factions to prepare for what's bound to happen eventually: a large-scale military conflict threatening to rip the Omniverse apart. In the worst case that would be Diablo's return, but it could also be the Empire or Kingdom clashing - or an event such as the Dark Data saga threatening the integrity of the entire Omniverse or major parts thereof.

To achieve these goals Heaven and Earth's branches each have their subset of tasks that they aim to fulfill.

Heaven's goals are of civilian nature. They focus on building up prosperity in the Frozen Fields and creating a more habitable environment.
-Logistics are one such goal: roads, highways, surface tunnels, bridges and other infrastructure to allow travelers to traverse the verse, if not safely then at least safer than going cross-country in the snow, over the ice and through the hazardous weather. Trade routes usable by anyone would also be a goal to reach through this.
-A neutral city somewhere deep into the verse. This would start out as a base (Amaterasu's) building up into a village, then a town and finally a bustling city. In a way this is Heaven's ultimate long-term goal to reach: to have this city be a neutral ground between factions, allowing for embassies of other important factions to be built, allowing for negotiations and conferences to be held here, and encouraging the peaceful coexistence not just of trolls and dwarves as well as dragonflight and generally all Frozen Field sentient inhabitants, but of all factions who are willing. It will probably be a long time before the largest factions like the Empire or Kingdom take notice, let alone consider establishing an embassy in this city, but that is the goal. The faction won't impose its ideals or force peace onto other factions though.

Heaven’s main base will be provided by Amaterasu.

Earth's goals are of military nature. They focus on maintaining the peace on the faction’s grounds (and eventually the Frozen Fields in general), building military alliances and intervening where necessary.
-Camps to train Earth’s members to fight (and to lead), and craftsmen to create the weaponry to hand to them. This is not a goal that is ever considered done, of course.
-Fortifications and guard posts across the Frozen Fields to defend the country in case of an attack, be that from the inside or outside.
-Military alliances with other factions, as well as non-aggression pacts to keep Heaven and Earth from being perceived as a threat or having its members be assaulted. Its goal is to maintain peace, not to establish supreme military might. Of course, said alliances would also be respected.

Earth’s main base will be provided by Amber Veritz.

Outside of these major goals, Heaven and Earth will also offer simpler tasks (“Faction Quests”) for its members which further the faction as a whole. Nothing is mandatory, but you could get some sweet Omnilium for it. Or bragging rights rewards.

How to join

You can join as a (Player/NPC) Prime or as a Secondary, regardless of what faction(s) you are currently affiliated to. This may change in the future if Heaven and Earth makes any enemies, unfortunately. Other than that you are encouraged to join other factions as this would help solidify pacts and alliances (or set the foundations thereof if the faction has no connection with Heaven and Earth yet) and creates potential ambassadors.
For obvious reasons, people affiliated with Zul’gurand or Dwarfholm will be treated with a little skepsis initially, as these factions are likely to not be too happy with Heaven and Earth’s involvement in the Frozen Fields. They will, however, be accepted.

Other notes

-The nature of the leadership in the faction is not set yet: it is likely that Heaven will be led by a council and chancellor, and Earth will be commanded by a General and advisors. There is still room for interested parties, though!

Is your faction going to claim the ultimate moral ground and force your beliefs on every  other faction? Or is it more just seeking cooperation and peace. For example when wars do break out what's biases will you have? If a faction such as the trolls declared war on you would you consider genociding them for the good of the verse? I am wondering how much a faction such as this can be trusted.

I doubt that anyone could realistically claim the moral high ground. We primarily seek peace - and if that works out, cooperation. The way that at least the Heaven side aims to accomplish this is by creating an incentive, like monetary prosperity, quality of life and safety of the people. But we can't say that this makes us better in any way than other factions, only different.

(Note that this bit is my personal view - Amber is still the boss of the Earth branch)
The Earth branch is there in the event that a battle breaks out in which the faction must get involved in (say, if an ally is under attack), but we're not going to interfere in a fight between two third parties that our faction has nothing to do with. As for the trolls and dwarves... well, besides that genocide is next to impossible unless you banish the Prime (which in turn strengthens Diablo's army!), a peace built on eliminating your opposition is predestined to fail. Plus, the trolls could benefit as much as the dwarves from working with Heaven & Earth. Earth would avoid going all the way if it can at all be avoided.

Earth aims to be a guardian militia to the Frozen Fields. We are the group who trains gaurds and responders to help should a faction decide to attack Heaven. In short, no. I will not have my side of the faction attempt to genocide anyone for two reasons, 1) even if Heaven got the bright idea to do that, Amber would immediately refuse to kill everyone related to that faction. 2) Killing everything is not how peace should be attained, that is barbarism.

We're not claiming the entire Frozen Fields, Chara Other people are still free to create bases and navigate the area to their heart's content.

I've come to a complete decision I believe that with a complete agreement when the country of Latveria comes to exist Doom will agree to aid this factions actions only in the return of good relations in the Frozen Fields.

I was already planning to explore the idea of non-violent conflict resolution in the Omniverse, but I expect it would be more effective and probably more fun as part of a group.

To that end I would be interested in either joining or working closely with Heaven and Earth, if you'd have me.

New logo! I may tweak it a bit more, but it's pretty detailed as is and I'm not too good an artist so I don't want to butcher it even more than I already did.

-The blue Yin and the green Yang represent the duality of the faction, and stand for Heaven and Earth respectively. I chose green over white or light blue because while it is the Frozen Fields, they would aim for prosperity and peace, which green fits best.
-The dots on each respective side represent the leaders Amaterasu and Amber (with the animal ears and tail, obvs), and are colored in the respective other side's color to represent that despite having different individual goals, the two sides of the faction work together.
-On the "Heaven" side, we have the sun, moon and stars for Heaven. The dot is given Amaterasu's ears and tail.
-On the "Earth" side, we have the Mountain range of the Frozen Fields including the "Roof of the World" represented by a stylised Void Gate, and the Mountains of Madness. The dot is Amber's ears and tail.

Are there any other interested parties that have yet to speak up? If you are interested but have doubts, then by all means contact Amber or me to clarify things - don't hesitate to speak up if you have questions, requests or anything else. If you're put off by that the leadership positions are taken, we can likely work something out too!

Keep in mind that we also take NPCs and Secondaries, it doesn't have to be Player Primes only.

Koehler, my alt, would certainly be interested in helping out once he gets his bearings straight and learns about the initiative. ... Not sure how he'd like it being in the frozen wastelands though.

As for name suggestions for the city, if you're in the Frozen Fields and trying for that heavenly vibe, Aurora, Eos, Dawn, and Corona are all obvious but still good choices. If none of those strike your fancy, I can take a bit of time and draw up a list?

Consider me...tentatively interested. I have a lot of things planned and it might be a while before I get around to tumbling my ass into the Fields, but I'll get there. I'm sure someone like Wesker could find a position to fill in...both sides of the group, depending on his whims and/or the needs at the time.
