Boy, where did the time go? Welcome to the May Monthly Accolades!
For those of you who are unaware, the Accolades involve nominating (and later, voting for) those who have outdone themselves in a particular area each month. For variety's sake, the categories for each month may be different.
You have until June 9th to nominate your choices. After that, we will proceed to the voting phase where members will vote among the two individuals with the most nominations for each category. An exception to this is if someone manages to get 5+ more nominations than the runner-up, in which case that person becomes the winner by default.
If you wish to participate, think of who stood out the most in a particular category this month and post your choice, along with a 2-3 sentence long explanation, in this thread. You are not barred from nominating your own characters/threads, nor do you have to fill out all the categories.
The winners will become this month's "Community Stars". And what benefits does this bring? Here is an explanation, courtesy of Alex:
(07-26-2016, 11:34 AM)Alex Wrote: As part of being voted as a Community Star/User of the Month (I use the terms interchangeable mainly because Community Star is less formal-sounding than User of the Month), these members gain a color (you must select this in your User CP) and access to the Omni-World R&D forum. In the past this was my pseudo-private forum, but it's now a place for myself and others to discuss the Omniverse. This is also the meeting place/brainstorming area for Story Aides and Story Guides, so for all intents and purposes, winning an accolade lets you become a pseudo-Story Aide for the duration of your reign.
Forum access is for the month following a member's selection as a Community Star, and this is irregardless of which 'accolade' you were selected for.
And the categories are:
‘Best’ Character – Which character has you engaged the most?
‘Best’ Writer – Which writer wowed you the most?
Most Helpful – A staffer or a member who gave you amazing feedback on a story or was simply there to help you sort out some of your problems.
Rising Star – Which up-and-coming member stands at the crème of the crop? (must have joined within the last month and a half or have less than 8000 OM)
'Best' Dark Data Story – ElFailzalot's massive, sprawling epic covers multiple verses and several threads. As such, it is only deserving of occupying the 'Best Story' category for the month of June. But which 'Dark Data' thread stood out to you the most?
'Best' NPC – What non-player character (can be a site, personal, or story NPC) entertained you the most (for whatever reason). Please note who the 'owner' of said NPC is, just in case I am not familiar with them.
Purple Ribbon - Consider this a bonus category for nominating someone who, while they may not be the best and have all the twitter followers, you believe deserves to be recognized for what they bring the the Omniverse. (The winner must be a DIFFERENT person than last month's winner; the April winner was Dark Link)

Best Character: Skeletor. #Bestham
Best Writer: Jim Raynor. His posts make for a smooth, refreshing read that's both engaging and easy to digest.
Best Dark Data: The Frozen Fields. Everyone in that group is horribly dysfunctional, and I love it.
Rising Star: Chakravartin Wu kong. Speaking as someone who writes a festering pile of overbearing evil just on the edge of lashing out at all times, that's some refreshingly subtle sinister intent he's got going on.
Purple Ribbon: Failz, for weathering the storm of running a sprawling event.

‘Best’ Writer – Me? Kidding. No major opinion here.
Most Helpful – Omni, who helped me with a Super Debuff (which at the time was new ground.)
Rising Star – Chakravartin, definitely. He and I have been going at it back to back and I have to say he is an excellent writer and has some big goals in mind. I can definitely see him becoming a big name in multiple verses.

'Best' Character - Okor. My personal bias comes in when talking about hulking badasses, but seeing this guy mesh as well as he does in the Camelot Dark Data thread with his pals puts a smile on my face, not to mention how cool he makes simple boss encounters seem with his dialogue.
Most Helpful - Omni. Guy's been workin' his bum off lately, also a great guy to have around in the chat to banter with :V
Rising Star - Wu Kong. What needed to be said about him has already been said; good stuff.
Purple Ribbon - Guu. I find it strange how engaging it is to see her very passive antics in the Omniverse are with almost all her characters, it's admittedly cute.

Best Dark Data: Dusty Dunes. 'Cause I'm selfish.
Best Writer: Jim Raynor/Illidan. Agreeing with Ghidorah. When I write, I try and (badly) emulate Neil Gaiman and Jim Raynor.
Rising Star: Chakravartin. I didn't expect to like his stuff when I first saw him post his joining thread but very quickly I enjoyed his presence and even forgot he was new.
Purple Ribbon: ElFailzalot. He seems to have a lot going on IRL but he's still keeping up with all of our shenanigans. Four for you, Failz!

Best Writer: Jim/Illidan, been a fan of his work since Darkshire, and Dark Data has done nothing to change that. Keep on being awesome!
Best Character: I will admit to being a Metroid-biased reader, but I am glad to see Samus back in action. It's a good rendition of the character, avoiding the general helplessness that shows up in other M without making the character feel distant/aloof. Samus cares about who she's helping and Greg does a great job of showing that!
Most Helpful – Ezzy. she continues to be so on top of the bonus request thread that I almost don't get a chance to help xD
Rising Star – Dane Reagan. Yes! bring on the Scholars!
'Best' Dark Data Story – I is biased, so I wills obstainz... (though I gotta say props to the Coruscant crew for staying cohesive with so many writers)
'Best' NPC – TRiKy FLipZ, Failbro's yeti monster from Dark Data frozen fields. not gonna elaborate.
Purple Ribbon - I can agree with Guu, she keeps the Dataverse feeling alive and different, in a properly random way.
If history is to become legend, it first must be recorded.

Most Helpful – I haven't had to ask around much, but Omni has been really good for help or clarification.
Rising Star - Chakravartin. I'd've liked to split it between Aang because the two have been back to back the whole time. But Aang joined a bit before, so according to the less than 1 month or 8000 OM requirement, he doesn't qualify.
'Best' Dark Data Story – I've got to say the Frozen Fields one.
Purple Ribbon - Guu, from the sheer randomness of her threads.

Best Writer - I've really enjoyed the content Harlan Higgs has been putting out, especially how he's managing a lot of moving parts to tell a larger story.
Best NPC - It's impossible to not mention Jacket's Manny Pardo. It's my first team up here, so perhaps I'm a little biased.
Best Staff - Cell has been constantly helpful, lenient and patient in answering the millions of newbie questions the latest batch of recruits has had.
Purple Ribbon - While I haven't interacted much with Luci, she's doing great world building for us other Corsucant players to work on. It's very helpful, especially as I'm a new player trying to get my bearings on the game-world.

'Best' Character-Dane Regan. I like his split personality, it makes reading his reactions much more interesting than just his thoughts, and when reading his flashback threads it seems like he(the player, not Dane) has a whole world developed in his mind, and Dane is just one part of it.
Rising Star-Chakravartin Wu Kong. His dedication to the character is awesome, and you can tell he's attached to it, like an OC, as he makes a comic about him. And while I haven't read much of his work, what I have read has been amazing.
Purple Ribbon-Guu. Her writing is very interesting, and stays consistently very funny, even in more serious threads. Though this may seem as a downside to some, it's something different from the pretty much all serious writing most people do.

Voting will last until June 14th. You may vote even if you hadn't made any nominations. If you have and a nominee you put forth is in the run-offs, you don't have to cast your vote for that specific category (unless you wish to cast your vote for the opponent instead); your nomination will automatically count as a vote for the nominee.
In cases where a member rather than a specific character wins a category, the winner can (if they so desire) post in the Accolades thread which account should get the colour. That way, those members who already have a nifty colour for their master account have the option to display their well-earned pink colour with a different account.
‘Best’ Character – Skeletor vs. Guu vs. Vision vs. Okor vs. Samus vs. Dane Reagan
'Best' NPC – TRiKy FLipZ (ElFailzalot) vs. Manny Pardo (Jacket)
Purple Ribbon - ElFailzalot vs. Guu
‘Best’ Writer – Jim Raynor
Most Helpful – Omni
Rising Star – Chakravartin Wu Kong
'Best' Dark Data Story – 'Wheua Mīti' by Kopaka, Skeletor, Weiss Schnee and ElFailzalot

Best Character: Damn. I wanna vote for myself to see if I can be voted Community Star three times in a row but that seems like bad sportsmanship (especially since I haven't done much recently). So I'm going to vote Skeletor.
Best NPC: I dunno. Not familiar with either.
Purple Ribbon: Guu. My goodbye present to her.

I'm going to say Guu for Purple Ribbon, and that's mostly because of the OOC threads she comes up with.
Curious about me and the characters I play? See the 'Staff' page! See also the rosters for my characters Samus Aran or Enel if you'd like to see examples of well-formatted rosters. Hope you enjoy the Omniverse!
