Yeah I just changed 'in a flash' to 'after several minutes'.
Curious about me and the characters I play? See the 'Staff' page! See also the rosters for my characters Samus Aran or Enel if you'd like to see examples of well-formatted rosters. Hope you enjoy the Omniverse!
>.> I actually edited it out a bit more. It was Sinestro's second post, if you wanna take a look.

S'cool.
On the topic of summoning times and reasoning, I could do with some feedback on that actually. I tried not to be exact on times because I figured people would be afraid of getting it wrong, and they'd be more likely to contradict the canon precisely because it was well-defined. What I've got now is "it takes at least several minutes to summon things, and longer when summoning items of great size and value". How do you guys feel about that? Do people want it to be more specific?

Several minutes is all the clarification I need. Just a unit (seconds, minutes, an hour) should be enough to keep things from getting dicey.

A couple clarification questions. If I start posting in the Green, does that need an OOC discussion thread? Seems like there should be one for every divergent storyline (but probably only ones with more than 1 character). In that case shouldn't it have its own forum?

It doesn't need its own OOC thread, it's up to you. If you want feedback, or if you get other people involved so you need to plan, by all means make one in Omniverse Discussion. If it's just a solo thread and you don't want feedback, you don't need one.

Well, I love the idea of people getting tangled (pun intended) up in my story later. I chose to diverge because it was very true to where my character's at and seemed like a good chance to flesh out some more of the world. I'll think on it.

So it'll take several minutes to summon a move, that isn't also an item? So we wont really be seeing characters improvise in the heat of battle and come up with something new and interesting?
If so, I am a little disappointed with that, I guess? That's always been my choice of method for someone learning they can do something differently and achieve good results, and then keep that as an actual part of their repertoire.
Items, secondaries, anything super major, etc all makes sense though.
E: Hold on, I'm seeing this discussed elsewhere, so I'ma read that stuff. Maybe it'll be answered there.
When it comes to moves, I personally go by a... loose interpretation of what happens when you get one. To my mind, it's not like you suddenly got stronger, but rather that it was a gradual thing and it just so happened that at that point, you were finally able to get the hang of using that move.
For example, if you buy Fireball, it's not like you suddenly thought: I should be able to shoot fireballs and now you shoot fireballs. It was you thinking months ago that you wanted to be able to shoot fireballs and slowly spending the OM to invest yourself with the ability.

Ganon's interpretation is totally fine, and there's no law that says everything you buy OOC with OM has to be gained with omnilium IC. What I don't want is for omnilium and summoning to be basically "everyone is an alchemist/green lantern." Oh hey, a ravine. *clicks fingers, bridge appears*. And by that logic, if it was quick, why would people bother spending OM on upgrades? Missiles incoming? *clicks fingers to summon some random cheap debris*. Omnilium is a tool mainly to explain the nature of the omniverse and allow for folks to gain stuff that wouldn't just be lying around, particularly personal character items that you won't be starting with. It's not meant to be like, a free power. Ya get me?

Things start getting complicated when you think about how varied the sorts of moves people are using are, and the origins of both their moves and their characters. In the case of Nanoha all the moves she'll be getting are ones that, prior to being pulled into the Omniverse, were things she could not only cast, but cast exceptionally well. She's just managing to reactivate Raising Heart's systems enough to be able to use them.
I suppose we can interpret that as Nanoha using OM gradually over time to repair Raising Heart's systems, and I'm not really fussed how we work that out. I'm mostly just interested in the potential dramatic writing that I can use for her suddenly casting a spell none of the other primes have seen her use yet, or managing to push out something that she was in really dire need of.
Basically, I can see why it'd take minutes to summon a physical object with OM. That makes sense. But the ability to do something, which is what most moves are, is knowledge and intuition rather than a tangible substance. I find it odd that OM would actually... Summon that.
aaaaand while I'm posting this, Greg posts. Okay, cool. Sounds like we're good here, brah.
Yup. I actually had an explanation lined up for anything I might suddenly pick up in a fight, which is mostly just Ganondorf finally deciding that his enemy was worth using more of his power. Since Ganon was weakened by the transfer, he's not really getting stronger in bursts, but gradually. The way I factor OM into this is that Ganondorf is using the substance to reinforce his soul/break down the barrier between him and his old power. Eventually, I will be adding new abilities to the Gerudo King, transformations and the like, which I can do in a more traditional way (using OM to change the very nature of his body, etc.).
Oh! When Sinestro gets on, just wanna say I hope I revised your post correctly. I don't wanna have messed up your style and upset you.

Alright, going to start work on a post over the course of this evening. Probably going to be a long one again, but there's plenty to do and I want to conclude Nanoha's role in the Scramble.
Probably some interaction with Proto Man, since he's posted since the update, and maybe a little with Samus. Maybe some brief moments with the rest. We'll see how it turns out.

I'm writing but it only involves me and a stormtrooper named Bob.

Why do I get the feeling this isn't going to end well for Bob?

I posted since the update... No love for the Ganondorf. Also, everyone hates Bob anyway. He's the guy that didn't know that those were the droids they were looking for. Also, he's the one who started the firefight that killed Luke's aunt and uncle. Escape Pod has no lifesigns? Bob.
