This is Terrible
#1
Darren rode his horse through the gate to Camelot, quickly traveling down the path to Minas Tirith, a path he knew well. Earlier in the day, some Prime had asked him how to summon things-to which he had given the explanation he had heard from a different Prime-and that was likely the most exciting thing that had happened in the day. Needless to say, his day had not been particularly interesting. So, he had decided to do something simple, yet interesting: fight in the arena. A while after Darren had gotten into Camelot, he reached Minas Tirith, and hopped off of his horse, reaching for his personal teleporter-the device he used to bring horses from a stable, and send them back. It had been designed by an independent engineer in Coruscant, in exchange for a favour Darren had done for him, but he only had a few. But now, it was gone; somehow, Darren had lost it on the way here. It looked like he'd have to just keep his horse with him, like he used to While this wasn't that bad, it just meant he needed to take better care of his hose, it would make travelling to the coliseum harder, as he'd need to travel by foot, rather than by air with a griffon or Pegasus. Darren quickly hopped off, it would be a longer journey than usual, and he would need more supplies than usual, too. So, he set out, off on a grand quest, to get, some food!
#2
Darren walked into a general goods store, having tied up his horse outside. He walked to the counter, fumbling around his belt for a pouch in which he kept his gold. He pulled out several gold coins, looking around. On the wall behind the counter there was a rack full of vegetables and fruits, including carrots, apples, leeks, and cabbages.
"Just a second!" came a voice from a back room. Darren looked around the room, eyeing everything, when he saw... a golden ornament, in the shape of a bear. It was small, no bigger than a small mouse, but looked solid, and would likely sell for much. He tapped his shoulder, and a rat came out of his clothing, sitting on his shoulder. Suddenly, the shopkeeper walked back out from the back room, a plump man with grey, balding hair and glasses.
"What can I get for ya?" he asked, with a friendly voice. Darren thought for a second, before saying,
"15 carrots, please."
"You got it!" The shopkeeper bent down, grabbing several carrots.
"Fetch, Lucius," Darren whispered to his rat, pointing at the golden bear ornament. The rat quickly jumped down, hopping onto the table and grabbing the ornament.
"Will that be it?"
"No, I'd also like 5 apples."

"Preparing for a trip?" the shopkeeper asked, but didn't wait for an answer, quickly turning around and grabbing the apples, putting them in a bag. As he did, Lucius hopped back onto Darren's hand, climbing through his sleeve and hiding the ornament in a pocket on the inside of his armour.
"That'll be all," Darren said, setting several coins down on the table as soon as the shopkeeper turned around. He grabbed the food he had gotten, and turned back around, heading back out into the market.

Several hours later, Darren began to get back on his horse, having loaded the horse up with supplies for the journey: 15 carrots, 5 apples, 6 loaves of bread, 10 salted steaks, 5 bottles of water, and 10 hardtack biscuits. He set off, racing with his horse out of the city, into the wilderness.
#3
Darren rode through the wilderness, his horse galloping down a narrow dirt path. He had had his rat, Lucius, take out a small golden ornament he had stolen, and was looking at it, inspecting the intricacies he hadn't been able to see before. Judging by the sound it made when struck, the ornament was solid gold, which meant that it would sell for quite a bit of money. It was in the shape of a bear, with the paws slightly outstretched just in front of the body. The snout of the bear was sticking out as well, a bit farther than the paws were, the mouth open but filled with gold. Darren got excited, the number of outstretched parts and the fact that it was solid meant it would sell for a lot of money. He gave the ornament back to his rat, who proceeded to put it back in the pocket hidden within Darren's armour. Darren reached into a pocket on his belt, this one not obscured whatsoever, pulling out a Victorian-style timepiece. It was 12:30 P.M., the sun belting down on Darren and his horse, but a gentle breeze cooling them off. It was nice weather, and Darren decided to enjoy himself how he could, riding on the horse, pulling out an apple from a pouch on the side of the saddle. he grabbed a switchblade from his belt, and cut off a small chunk of the apple, handing it up to his shoulder, where Lucius was waiting, grabbing the piece of apple eagerly.
"Greedy pig," Darren jokingly remarked under his breath, taking a bite of the apple. It tasted incredible, sweet and crisp. It was so good, in fact, that Darren almost felt bad about stealing the ornament from the shopkeeper. Almost.

Many hours later, night was just beginning to fall, and Darren had set up a sort of camp. He had spread a nylon sleeping bag on the ground, next to a fire he had started. Darren had tied his horse up, but left the rope long as to give her a chance to roam the area, grazing on grass nearby and drinking from a stream. By that point, Darren had peeled off his armour, clad now in nothing but a simple white shirt and blue jean pants.  Darren had gathered a pot of water from the stream, and was now boiling it, making a stew with a cut-up steak and several carrots. The stew gave off a thick aroma, spreading far from the campsite. In a few minutes, the stew had gotten done, and Darren had taken out a loaf of bread from a satchel, splitting it in half and sticking half back into the bag. He began sipping on the stew, having not had the foresight to bring along any type of eating utensil. Lucius squeaked into Darren's ear, and held out his paws expectantly.
"What if I don't wanna give you any?" Darren said, a grin coming onto his face. A squeak was all that was given in response, and Darren ripped off a piece of the bread, dipping it in the stew before giving it to Lucius. The rat squeaked joyfully, tearing at the bread with his sharp teeth. In about half an hour, Darren had finished the stew, and was boiling water to purify it, a trick he had picked up from scientists in Coruscant. He had drunk a few of the bottles of water he had brought, and was preparing to refill them. In several minutes he had done so, and night had come fully. He then stripped off most of his clothes, washing them in the river and leaving them on a nearby rock to dry during the night. Darren nestled into the sleeping bag he had set out, the last embers of the fire going out. And from there, he set off into a night of rest.
#4
Darren woke up, hearing a sound in his camp. He looked up, seeing a woman walking towards his drying clothes. A thief, clearly. But not a very good one. She walked clumsily, stepping on twigs and brushing against bushes. Lucius squeaked into his ear, clearing thinking that she would be dangerous.
"Hush. I want to see what she's doing," Darren said, pushing the rat under the sleeping bag. Quickly the woman hopped over to Darren's leather armour, thinking that the hop would be quieter, clearly. It wasn't. Though it was a clever tactic, going over to the armour. Many people had pockets on their armour, so it was a nice idea. She began to look at the armour, turning her head around. But stupidly, she only looked at the outside. By now, Darren had decided to intervene. He stood up, grabbing his rifle as Lucius climbed up onto his head, letting out the deepest snarl it could (which was still, admittedly, not very deep).
"OI!" Darren yelled, pointing the rifle at the woman's face. He likely made a strange site, clad in nothing but his underwear, a rat on his head, and holding a rifle. But it was enough to intimidate the thief.
"Quick tip," Darren began, his voice calming. "If you're checking someone's clothing, always check the inside." He ran his hand over the inside of his armour, finding the hidden pocket and reaching inside, pulling out the golden bear ornament. The woman stared, wide-eyed.
"But hey, I'm a nice guy. I'll sell it to you, for only 500 gold coins! A big bargain!" A lie. There likely wasn't even enough gold in the ornament to be made into 500 gold coins, but the attempted thief seemed gullible. Finally, she spoke.
"O.. Okay... Just.. let me get the gold. I h.. have it in my bag." She reached down into a satchel at her waist, pulling out a bag of coins. Darren took note of that.
"Don't wear a bag like that, it's stupid. That'll hit a bush, or a table, and make a noise, ruining your cover." he said, taking the bag of coins. Darren took out several, inspecting them. They seemed authentic, so he handed her the ornament, which she quickly took, as though worried he would change his mind. Lucius hissed at her from Darren's head, and she shrieked.
"Just Lucius, he's a friend. No worries. But I'm curious, how did you find my camp?"
"I.. I followed the smell. Y..Your stew, it brought me here." Darren nodded. It was a good tactic, he almost wished he had as good of a sense of smell to be able to find things like that. Combined with his skill, it would be great. He began to shoo the thief away, gesturing towards the road.
"Please, get out of here. In case you didn't notice, I was trying to sleep before you got here." She ran away, breaking into a sprint when she reached the road. The sun had just begun to rise, and, knowing he wouldn't be able to go back to sleep, he pulled on his clothing, stretching out as he began his day.

Not bad. Not exceptional, but if taking away from the lesser thieves was hard, then one couldn't really consider themselves a great thief.

The figure leaned against a tree a safe distance away from the grumbling man who had packed up his supplies after scamming that poor woman at dawn. Darren couldn't help but get the feeling that he was being watched, and kept his senses on high alert. He wasn't along. Eventually, he came to a full stop past a small cluster of trees.

"Well, show yourself, I know you're following me, could hardly fool anyone when you keep smashing all the dry leaves under your feet."

"Well, I was just testing to make sure you aren't hard of hearing." A woman's voice called out as some movement passed through the thicket. Darren held his ground, taking a wide stance as he tried to prepare himself.

"And? Did you get your answer?"

"Not really, it still depends on how well you can listen."

The woman appeared from behind the nearest tree, wearing some weathered lace cloth and leather, arms crossed with a smirk on her face. Her brown hair hung just below her shoulder, long and straight, her hazel eyes showing confidence and curiosity. Something about the leathers she wore seemed to show an insignia, a diamond with a circle in the center. What a peculiar sign if Daren would notice it.

"I would congratulate you on your trickery of that poor woman back there, but even an amateur can pull something like that off. Tell me, what can you really do?"

"Wouldn't you like to find out." The man replied with a scoff.

"Well then it's settled, I shall accompany you and see what you have to offer." She stated plainly, walking past him.

"Okay, listen, lady, I'm not babysitting you-," he spoke and raised a hand as he turned to face her, before being interrupted.

"You don't have to, a woman like me can take care of herself, maybe even teach you a thing or two. So what are you waiting for, let's go." She smiled and stood still, waiting for his next move.

Darren stood for a moment, narrowing his eyes and sizing up the woman. Whoever this chick was, she was getting on his nerves. However, he could care less whether she followed him or not, so long as she didn't get in his way.

"Alright then, but don't call for help when you become the damsel in distress." He strode forwards, not really paying much more attention to the woman who presented herself. It was quiet for a long time after that as they continued along the road, not really finding anything past a few road signs and landmarks. Their footsteps alternating was the only conversation they had until the woman finally spoke up.

"A quiet one hm? Always so mysterious. You aren't going to fool me, even if you tried, so you might as well come clean. Something like this, " she said as she waved her hands around and took on pompous womanly attitude, holding her hands to the side as if she were royalty. "Oh my what a dashing rogue, how could my abductor be so handsome. My dearest, I humbly offer my name, Lisette, for you, stranger, to use whenever you find yourself so endearing, as you usually are~!" Her act was actually pretty convincing.

Darren looked puzzled as the woman introduced herself, talking gracefully as though she were royalty. He walked past her, beginning to speak.
"What do you even want with me? If you're of noble status, then you must want me to fulfill a contract, in which case you should've just asked, and if you're anyone else, you wouldn't want anything with me. So why are you following me?" In the middle of speaking, there was a slight hand movement out of Darren, so quick that it was barely noticeable. He set back on his path, holding out the small pouch he had taken from the woman. Apparently, it was for money, though there wasn't much, just a few silver coins.
"Well done, you've managed to pickpocket me!" the woman said sarcastically, letting out a chuckle. "A shame, then, for you at least, that I don't have much money on me." Darren stared at her, shaking his head. How had she managed to see him? His technique was good, he knew that, Darren had been practicing for many years, he had to. He quickly turned his head to his shoulder, whispering into his armour.
"Lucius, go take something from her," he ordered, staying as quiet as possible. Sure, maybe he wasn't a master pickpocket. But not many other thieves had a rat that knew how to take things as well as any human thief. Darren glanced back at her, seeing Lucius begin to crawl up her leg, unnoticed, and he noticed something strange. The woman had some sort of insignia on her clothing, a diamond with a circle in the center. Thinking back, it reminded Darren of marks The Thieves' Guild used back in his home, but surely that couldn't be the case? Darren had traveled far, been to nearly every verse, and he had never found Tamriel, much less Skyrim. Soon after he had left, Lucius came back, offering a small gem the woman had had in a ring.
"Nice," Darren muttered taking the gem, the woman apparently not noticing. By the end of the day, he was sure, he would have her robbed of all her valuables.

The woman continued to follow alongside him, she was quick to uncover most of his schemes, but the rat consistently kept under her radar.

"Ugh, why are my legs so itchy!" She would stomp once and attempt to scratch her leg, mostly missing the rat as it completed its tasks, though once she almost stomped on his tail. She didn't seem to have much on her, Lucius came back with nothing after the third item. Upon closely inspecting the jewelry when she was not looking, he could tell they were mostly fake. Why would she carry such items? Cheap and useless, unless eh was planning to sell them for more than theyer worth. Perhaps he could try to pawn them off himself.

Lisette began to yawn as they approached town. "Well, looks like we are actually getting close to civilization. I might do some shopping."

Darren gave a low chuckle. "Sure."

"Well what has you all giggly?"

"Nothing, just go do your shopping."

"Alright, but you better not leave me!"

"Hmph." Darren didn't pay any attention to her as she scuttled off, soon disspearing among the crowd near the town. It might be best to look around and probably see if he could pawn off the jewelry.

As for Lisette, she began on her work, doing what she does best.

As they walked into the town, thoughts raced through Darren's mind, trying to imagine why the woman had worn such worthless jewelry. Perhaps it was for an enchantment, as, at least in Darren's home world, the magic was within the band, not the gem. But then, why had she used fake gems rather than simply a featureless band? Perhaps it was simply for appearances, to make the ring look more valuable than it was. Whatever the reason, the gems could surely be sold for something, especially to a gullible traveler with too much gold in their pockets and not enough brains in their head. Immediately, Darren began to head towards a tavern, hoping to pawn off the gems. As soon as he opened the door, he could tell this was not a very well managed inn. Dirt was all over the ground, and bugs crawled on nearly everything, the innkeeper apparently not paying much attention to the condition of his inn. Darren quickly walked in, sitting down at a table on which a traveler wearing fine clothing and a thick cloak, who seemed as though he was trying his hardest not to touch the table. The traveler looked at him, confused, but didn't say anything, apparently intimidated by Darren. Darren set down the gems on the table, indicating that he wanted to trade. The traveler looked flustered for a few seconds, before setting down a bag of coins on the table. Darren simply nodded his head, walking away as he took the bag of coins, glad his wordless exchange had worked.

Soon Lisette realized that her few pieces of jewelry were missing as she came out of a dark alley wearing some finer looking clothing. Damned pickpocket, he has some trick of his sleeve. If he's really that good, he might be a good candidate for the guild. That is, if he can get past the bartender. But no matter, for now she had to work her craft, as she looked up to reveal the makeup she had applied ot her face, her brown haired seeming dyed into a red color. So began her attempt at being a shy and cute middle class woman, the perfect disguise to woo some of the merchants. She would let herself flow through the market, swinging heself this way and that, acting as if she were clumsy as she 'accidentally' threw herself at merchant men. Each time she would try to convince them to give her something for free, bringing her arms straight down in front of her and prodding her chest forwards as she bent over. Many were to distracted to see her hands swipe a valuable off their table as they either attempted to gain their dignity back or even fuss with their wares to find something to give her. Soon her pockets were full of vaious items to which she pawned off at a local shop. With her coion purse refilled, she would retreat back into an alley and remove her disguise before throwing away any evidence. That girl now no longer existed, only Lisette the disguise artist remained. She took her time stretching and smiling as she began to wander some more. She should find that Darren man again, wherever he decided to go. She needed to talk to him about her missing fake jewels.

Darren walked out of the bar, beginning to try to find some way out of the town. That woman, Lisette, had clearly gone off to do business of her own, so Darren thought that maybe, just maybe, he could get away from her. But, it wasn't to be. When he walked out into the street, Lisette was there, apparently looking for him.
"Darren!" she yelled angrily. "Where are those gems?"
"What, the fake ones that you had on you for gods-know-what? I sold 'em. Got a nice pouch of coins for 'em too, some noble traveler. Man, he was stupid."
"Don't dodge the subject!" she interrupted. "How did you get them?"
"Stole 'em. How else?" The whole time, Darren was acting calm, keeping a cool head and remaining casual. And, at least apparently, it was pissing Lisette off. But she seemed now not to be saying anything, so Darren began to walk out of the town, when suddenly, he remembered something. Slapping his forehead, he muttered,
"My horse!"
"What?" Lisette asked.
"I left my horse back in the woods. Hopefully no wolves or anything tried to eat it. Dammit, so stupid..."
"Please don't tell me we're going all the way back to get it..."
"She's my best horse, Lisette, and I've had her for a while. I'm getting her back, so if you want to stay with me, you're coming too." With that, Darren began to walk out of the town, back to his former campsite, not paying attention to whether Lisette was following or not.

"Ugh, you owe me a damn good explanation when we get your damned horse." Lisette stormed after Darren, kicking up dust behind her in her rage. She was not one for backtracking due to clumsy forgetfulness. In her defiance, she walked behind the man, waiting for him to turn to see if she was following, but soon saw that he truly did not care. Lisette grumbled under her breath, muttering something about a jerk and lame horses. They continued of for a while, dusk soon falling after them.

"So, do you think we are even going to make it in time before nightfall? The sun is begginning to set, and as much as I know how to fend for myself, the only way you are fighting off a group of bandits here is if you are a Prime." She would catch up to him as she listened to his answer, forming her own opinion on it.

"Hmm. Oh, and I also forgot to ask, what did you even name this horse, you haven't mentioned it. If you've had her for so long then she obviously has a name doesn't she. Now that I think about it, I didn;t think you had the capacity to care about anything else besides yourself, must be an animal lover hmm~?"

"We should make it to the camp before nightfall. It took us about a day of walking to get to that village, and that was at a slow pace. We should get there quickly. Besides, you don't have to follow me. Remember, you chose to do this." Darren glanced up. He hated to admit it, but Lisette was right; the sun was, indeed, beginning to set. Darren shifted his pace, beginning to walk much faster. Not quite a run, but much faster than a normal walk, and one that somewhat tired him out. Soon after, Lisette asked about his horse's name.
"Lisette," Darren replied snarkily. "That's her name." He was not particularly happy-forgetting one's horse because of an attempted robbery tends to cause that-and so was being somewhat needlessly cruel. Darren ignored that Lisette mentioned that she had thought him incapable of relating with others-he was simply too annoyed to bother. Within a few hours, the 2 had arrived at their destination, the campsite.
"Well, I suppose we didn't get here before sunset. Sorry," Darren looked then at the camp, seeing 3 small, goblin-like pig monsters brandishing wooden clubs. 2 of them were attempting to untie Darren's horse, and 1 was apparently watching guard, sitting on a nearby rock. Immediately, Darren fell into a crouch, crawling behind a log. "So, you wanna see what I can do? Well, I'm getting my horse back. So, here's your chance!"

Lisette fell behind as Darren began to rush a bit, trying to catch up with him. She gave a disgruntled sigh and puffed out her cheeks at the horse's name matching her own.

"Haha. Funny."

They continued on for a shoirt while longer as they approached the site where Lisette found him, the sun had just set and darkness fell upon them. As they arrived, Darren had gone forward as stopped a bit before the campsite. He then went on about something consisting of chances and seeing what he can do. She decided to allow him to show off a bit, after all, it was just three goblins, nothing too hard. She sat back against a nearby tree and ushered him forward.

"Well? Show me then." She poke witha smirk on her face, anticipating the entertainment that would soon follow.

Unlike what one would expect of someone who was having their noble steed stolen, Darren did not instantly respond. He remained in his crouch, his hand clutching his switchblade. He remained this way for several minutes, sitting, waiting, and watching, as the goblin-pigs untied his horse and roughly led her away.
"Well? Are you going to do anything?" Lisette asked, annoyed.
"Just wait," Darren responded. Finally, when the pig beasts were several metres away, the thief began to move, quickly moving behind a tree, silent. He pulled out his switchblade, smiling when the blade popped out, creeping to the side of the tree as he slipped a piece of cloth over his blade. One of the pig-goblins was walking, slowly behind the other 2, the same one that had been keeping watch earlier, occasionally checking behind him. Darren moved quickly behind the beast, holding its head up, his hand over its mouth. The beast's eyes grew wide, and Darren pushed his knife across the beast's neck, moving it in the way one would play a violin, leaving splotches of blood falling out of the wound, which were absorbed by the cloth. He then grabbed the still-warm corpse of the monster, pulling it behind a tree and searching its body. to his dismay, he found nothing but a small knife made of bone attached to a red loincloth. The thief grabbed the knife, putting it into a small pouch on his chest, placing the blood-absorbing cloth he had used into the monster's mouth. Upon closer inspection of the beast's facial features, it finally remembered it's name-bokoblin. The information was irrelevant for getting his horse back, but Darren appreciated knowing it nonetheless. he continued trailing the beasts, following them until they reached a cave,n with 2 other bokoblins standing guard in front,  more heavily armoired than their scouting brethren, wearing bone armour and clutching wooden "spears"-truly little more than sharp sticks- in their grimy paws. They let out grunts, to which the scouting bokoblins offered hoots in return, gesturing towards their back. One guarding bokoblin gave a puzzled look, poushing its spear across the scouts, whilst the other brought the horse into the cave. Darren took advantage of this confusion, creeping into the cave, hiding behind a rock as he prepared to venture deeper. Across from the rock, there were 5 bokoblins, gathered around a bunch of food, mostly raw meat but also some fruits. The beasts ate ravenously, eyeing food as they were still chewing and smacking the others when they reached for the same food. That would be a problem; The way the bokoblins were seated led to no areas in which Darren could escape their gaze.  Suddenly, he hd an idea. Recently, he had stolen a small device, one that created a holographic human, which would accompany the owner when no other people were around. He held the device up to his face, whispering,
"Activate Buddy Program 3.0 in 5 seconds." He then threw the device to the corner of the room, as it replied cheerfully,
"Activating Buddy Program!" The bokoblins looked at the device, curious, and shortly after a nearly perfect hologram of a person emerged, beginning to speak, "Hello! Would you like to play?" the bokoblins all turned their heads, and began to run towards the hologram, each brandishing a knife or club. Darren nearly sprinted out of the room, going through a doorway, finding his horse, truly named Fidelis. He cut ropes attaching her to the wall of the cave, and mounted her. He led her to the back of the cave, and, finding a small hole in the wall, shot a small dart through it from a gun he was carrying. The dart exploded shortly after, causing the wall to cave in, and Darren rode out on Fidelis, racing through the woods, away from the bokoblins' lair. He had gotten his horse back.

Lisette couldnthelp but mindless carve into the bark of the tree beside her, bored out of her mind. All she saw was Darren sneak into the cave and leave her behind with these guards up front. What a display of skill no doubt, one far out of eyesight. She rolled her eyes as she kept aware of her surroundings, on the lookout for when, or maybe even if, Darren returned. With a horse he would no doubt be able to outpace her and leave her behind. She couldn't even remember the reason she wanted to accompany him in the first place. Something about wanting him to make a fool of himself, but it wasn't fun if she wasn't there to see it. With a sigh she ventured a bit from the cave and slumped over by a bush, keeping her hand near her boots if anyone came by.

While she waited, she thought of whether she should head back to base. Maybe she can pick up her bag and work some more, as this scouting she was supposed to be doing what not exactly her cup of tea. Oh how she missed dressing herself up in a variety of fashions in order to swindle such precious items from people. And it brings in great profit as well.

Ah, well for now she would wait, and if he did not return soon, perhaps she would just rest in a tree somewhere, then hunt the bastard down later. However, that was not yet to come, for now she would simply sit beside the bush and fiddle with her hair.

Darren circled near the cave, his horse racing in a loop. In his rush to get Fidelis and himself out of the cave, he had neglected to think about the fact that anything, even dumb beasts like bokoblins, would notice such a large hole in the wall. Suddenly, the thief heard footsteps, the loud clamouring of bokoblins racing down through the cave. Turns out his distraction hadn't lasted as long as planned. Quickly, Darren rushed his horse next to a group of bushes, whilst crouching down in those same bushes. Quickly, he pulled out his pistol from its holster, as well as a suppressor from a pouch on his leg. He had to act fast: the beasts were already sniffing the air, searching for Fidelis. Swiftly, the man poked his head above the bushes, firing two quick shots that raced into one of the bokoblins head. From what he could tell, there had been 4: 3 to go now. As the bullet had traveled, into the air, it had made a slight wizzing sound, as well as a pop when it left the barrel, but was mostly silent, death coming quickly yet quietly to the beast. Smelling the blood, the other 3 bokoblins rushed to the corpse. All were hunched over the body, paying their respects to the dead in whatever strange, alien way they could, and none aware paying attention to their surroundings. Darren took advantage of this,  throwing a bomb in the center of the 3. Each became confused,  and one tried to smell the bomb, but none realised what it was until too late. The bomb exploded, sending the limbs of the beasts flying with a large booming noise. This attracted the attention of the guarding bokoblins, who had still been keeping watch of the cave entrance. They rushed around to the back of the cave, but it was too late. Darren was already off, racing away on Fidelis. Within a matter of minutes, Darren had gotten back to Lisette, and the bokoblins had given up in their chase.
"That good enough for you?" he asked, and the cocky thief couldn't contain a smirk as he went on, saying, "I practically destroyed an entire tribe of monsters, freed my horse, and did it all with no injuries. Impressed?"

Lisette tilted her head slightly and spoke aloud. "Well, let's see. Not really." She gave a bored look as she rolled her eyes.

"Those were Bokoblins, right? Pretty sure anyone with a decent tongue could convince them that poisons extended their next life when they were reborn. Not sure if you even needed to sneak in either, although they do pack a punch they hardly hit. Hopefully, you didn't waste anything too valuable for that endeavor. Anywho, we should be making camp for the night. I believe that after tonight, I've had my deal of excitement, and will be vennturing off my own way, unless you care to join me." She gave a playful toss of her hair as she walked by Darren and his horse. She could only imagine how annoyed he must feel by her nonchalant reaction, however it was true. One had to do a lot more than that to impress her, though she still had no answer for his taking of her jewelry earlier. Outliers do exist, perhaps the man just got lucky for that.

Soon she would return to the guild and report that none were fully worthy of joining the guild, and she would be off to her daily routine. Ah, how nice it shall be.

Smart. Darren had hoped to see if she could see through his guise of greatness. And, she had done it. Impressive. Not many could tell the difference between, say, a bokoblin or a troll, much less know how different the mental capabilities of each are. So, he merely laughed.
"Not enough, eh?" he finally said, breaking his deep laugh. "You're quite interesting, that's for sure." He stretched out his arms, yawning. "Hold on," he began, responding to her statement of making camp. "Don't expect me to set up camp for you. Go set up your own." He immediately went to work, tying up his horse and rolling out his sleeping bag in a fashion not unlike how he did the first night he met Lisette. "Thinking about it now," he said, remembering her promise to travel away from Darren. "I think I'll just come with you. After all, I've got nothing better to do."
