Elements and the Omniverse
#1
As anyone who has roleplayed with me should know, (not that that is alot) my moves have a fodder 'ability' that changes color based on the major element of the verse. To help them I me out I stated to make a detailed list of each verse, their element, and the color that the move uses in that verse, but being a little new to this site I got stuck on some of the harder ones. As a way to fix that, and to see if the more experianced on this site think I got it close enough, I am posting this theard to get sugesstions from everyone on this site

Yuuka KazamiBig Grines is like that one meme like... "How many levels of Omniverse are you on?"

Revan Noctis : Desman what are you currently doing in the omniverse?
Desman Black: I'm faking an engagement to a sex deamon to stop two samurai I accidently summoned whipping them in half, while also trying to stop them from doing the same thing to my best freind who is currently having relations with said deamon, and wh has now accidently summoned his previous girlfreind. So you know... normal stuff

Seeing the elements attached to the locations silently gives me ideas for where to send Arle if I want her to learn a specific variety of magic, such as nature magic.

Edit: Whoops! My feedback seems to have gotten lost. Sorry about that.

I muse to myself that The Ashen Steppes might also be a good place for a "Poison" or "Toxic" element because of the toxic gases and frequent acid rain. I'm not sure if that's even on your elemental table, but it came to mind.

A nice way to further juxtapose the Tangled Greens and the Pale Moors could be to label the Pale Moors as the "unnatural."  It is mostly undead, with Dracula and undead roamers being good examples, and of course there are perfectly natural things that could be there which are horrific in their own right.  However, a good number of these beings are either magically summoned (zombies via necromancy), cursed (i.e. Dracula), or in some way paranormal (Silent Hill), so describing it as such may be appropriate and can act as a nice contrast to the Tangled Green's "natural" half of its element.

'Elements' is such a deliciously vague word. Taking something like this into consideration need not even adhere to 'normal' rules of elemental tables at all.

What do we consider an Element, after all? Is it the core identifying characteristic of something? There is a phrase that someone can be 'in their element.' Does this infer that people inherently have elements as well? Consider a mechanic in the Endless Dunes, capable of fixing anything. Dell Conagher comes to mind.

Certainly his Element could be said to be Technology, Machinery, etc. And yet, he is drawn to the Dunes because that is more like his home. Does this mean that, despite being perfectly comfortable in this environment, Dell is 'out of his element'?

Another curiosity of this concept is that elements provide power, and can be drawn upon. I suppose some of these are intuitive enough. Electricity powers a home. Water powers a mill. Wind powers a sailboat. Earth powers a furnace. Likewise, elements can harm things, if the power drawn from them is utilized properly.

But can it be said that an element is the simplest component of a given subject? Certainly, it is difficult to be any more 'basic' than 'Earth', per se, but if I asked you what held the Earth itself together, what could be said? Molecular bonds? Inertia? Gravity? The strong and weak nuclear forces? That would seem to indicate that THESE fundamental forces of the universe are the most basic building blocks and therefore Elements, but calling the as such does not sit well upon the intellectual pallete.

What of the actual Elements? Xenon and Carbon are by literal definition, elements. Discreet atomic structures that can only be reduced into simpler atomic structures. This is not a satisfactory answer, however, as something cannot be said to be solely of the carbon element any more than it could be said to exist of the gravity element. Both suggestions would produce an uninteresting (perhaps) of inanimate subject matter that is hardly captivating in a literary capacity.

So, we are forced to return to our initial assertion: in this context an 'element' should describe the core characteristic of a given Verse. I am averse to assigning such meager concepts as 'fire' to a place as rich as the Steppes, or 'Technology' to the myriad layers of Coruscant.

I SHALL PONDER THIS DEEPLY.

YOU SHALL HAVE YOUR ANSWERS.
And, we dream of home I dream of life out of here Their dreams are small My dreams don't know fear I got my heart full of hope I will change everything No matter what I'm told How impossible it seems We did it before And we'll do it again We're indestructible Even when we're tired And we've been here before Just you and I

Here's a bunch of suggestions that don't exactly fit what you're doing.

I would think the verse color for the nexus would be 'None', or 'clear', or 'white'

Astral verse should be 'silver' or 'gold'

Dataverse should be 'Black and Green'

Oververse should be 'white and yellow/gold'

Underverse should be 'black and red'

Void should be black

@Arle: I don't actulaly have an element table, and if I did I most likly would't have those as elements becurse of a whole 'universal balencing' thing Desman thinks exist

@Jams: I ment nature as plants and such which i just sort of group in with life... Which is way i shall group undead and unatural

@Tearen: I said they were the major element, as in the most prominent, i never said they were the only one there. :frog:

@luci: I do like the idea of the astral verse as sliver, but where did the black and green for the dataverse come from, i like to base the colours from the element itself. Also the reseon why the over and underveres are white and black is becurse of them being the stereo typical coulers of 'good and evil'.

I would almost put Camelot as brown, I feel like magic is perhaps too rare to represent the whole verse. It's more like ... steel would be the element. That's just my opinion. Though if you wanted to represent steel it would be the same colour as Coruscant, so ...

Grey for Dataverse as well Confusedamus:

But I do feel purple for Astral Realm. Idk. I feel like that's moreso the magical realm, as much as it is the dream realm, like the Fade in Dragon Age.

These are just my thoughts, don't take them as gospel :omni:
Curious about me and the characters I play? See the 'Staff' page! See also the rosters for my characters Samus Aran or Enel if you'd like to see examples of well-formatted rosters. Hope you enjoy the Omniverse!
