Do you want to know how high on the scale of Anime you rank? Do you want to be judged by a completely arbitrary system to know? Then just post in here and I'll judge you.
Disclaimer: Since I may not know your character very well I may not always hand out the most fitting score.
To-Do list:
-Grade all the characters marked N/A.
-Give scale in which characters are sorted by their score.
2B - N/A
Aadibah - 5/10
A regular human fighting with regular weapons in a modern-world conflict? BOOOORING! Move on and stop bothering me with-
Wait, what? What do I see? WORLD WAR III? NUCLEAR ENERGY-POWERED POWER ARMOR? This changes everything! Hmm... but this power armor doesn't seem very stylish. If it was all chrome-plated and had a cape and such, and if it had a giant sword as the finishing touch, then it would be great! But a modern gun... well, I guess it's practical, but it's not anime! Such mixed feelings... this is a difficult pick
keptic:
Amber Veritz - 9/10
She LOOKS human, but she's a non-human, underage, good-looking both in general appearance and with her clothing (rather than ugly armor) - this must mean that she's protagonist material. Also, she wields a sword as big as herself, which is good... but REAL anime heroes wield swords larger than themselves. On the other hand, that sword can transform into a gun... anime characters love unconventional weapons. Hmm...
Add to that her superhuman strength without having muscles like a Super Saiyan, which preserves her girly looks even in battle, and that's really good! If she's not a protagonist, then she's probably the protagonist's friend, romantic interest or otherwise competent sidekick.
And without that sword she reminds me of the protagonist of Mew Mew Kissy Cutie!
Betty - 8/10
Well, first of all children with superpowers and more powerful (and useful) than adults are very anime! This one seems a bit young but she'll probably be a fantastic world-saver once... oh wait, she's a villain? What a plot twist :omg:
Anycase! That pink blob pet thing of hers, that's very anime too, although villains tend to have dangerous pets, like sharks or firebreathing dinosaurs. Same with the evil glowy eyes and using everyday clothes to fight in! Add to that that the fighting style is all sorts of evil (Stealing enemies' moves and using them against them, eating souls, putting fear in people's hearts...) and that is a great villain! Or rather, a despicably evil one. The best villains are both evil and cool. Betty would just be evil and unliked. As such, I can't give a better score.
Cell - 10/10
Let's see here... smooth voice, good looks, intelligent, general evilness... is he a mafia godfather? Oh, never mind, he's a bug man that slurps up people with a mosquito thing. And he grows stronger every time he comes back from the brink of death? And has hyper-regenerative powers to restore his body from just one cell? And he doesn't immediately kill his opponents but instead shows off his power in elaborate ways?
That is a very high anime index value, but clearly he is an anime villain! Always so overpowered
keptic:
Chara - 9/10
A lot of things are similar to Betty here: wearing everyday clothes in fights, having evil glowy eyes (and red, of course!) and being a kid with greater powers than most adults means that Chara is a great anime character! The fighting style is also interesting (using a kitchen knife to fight and sending out flying energy slashes? Hell yeah!) and the teleportation is great. And of course, the big redemption at the end, that's worth extra cookie points!
Unfortunately however there's just not quite enough for a perfect score: Chara lacks that last nudge to make her a "great" anime character, not just a "good" one. Obtaining a grossly oversized sword and screaming or calling your attacks would be ways of achieving that, for instance!
Cloud Strife - 8/10
I see a giant sword! That's worth a lot of points :hur: Also, a very anime haircut, kind-of anime clothes, anime age... lots of good things here! His backstory... well, it's okay, but it doesn't sound as anime as it could be. Although that part where he takes up his friend's sword and strikes an opponent with it? Yeah, that's awesome.
There's probably a lot that I don't know about because I don't know the series, but off the things I can see, I feel like this score is in order!
Dante - N/A
Dawn - 4/10
Those names for weapons! And a katana-sword forged in a volcano? And she has shizophrenia? And fights in those clothes? Very nice! But then I see explosive weaponry, and a sniper-rifle, those are not befitting to an important character. Maybe a support character of some enemy group that later is befriended to the protagonist, though. And this name... at least she could have her last name be Yuki or something like that :dur:
There's just too little warranting a good score on the anime scale here.
Dell Conagher - 3/10
Let's see here... what, just a shotgun and a pistol? And he's texan? That is not anime at all! But those goggles... hmm, the goggles do add a nice touch. And the ability to construct all sorts of mechanical equipment on the fly? Out of nowhere? Turning scrap into useful resources by whacking it with a wrench? Well, that's gotta be worth a few points!
He would probably occupy the role of a greatly skilled engineer who has constructed the mechanical arm of the protagonist, and who is approached when it gets broken. Myes, an important support character.
Enel - 10/10
What a great character! Not only does he have very cool, unconventional looks (those earlobes, those drums piercing his back, a lot of fanservice by being bare-chested), he also has a very anime movepool (a GOLDEN staff, throwing electricity around), calls his attacks, is fast and strong and
Furthermore! He has blond hair and is insane, which apparently is the trope for characters controlling lightning. He believes himself to be a god (he certainly has the ego of one), he has awesome extrasensory powers, he speaks during combat and all the lightning attacks ignore the laws of physics, he has an afro... I could list more things, but I think I've made my point.
Hiro Protagonist - 10/10
A nipponese (aka japanese) samurai, speaking nipponese, with katanas, tantos and shurikens, and on top of that high mobility, foresight and enhanced senses by itself would be enough to give this person a high anime rating. But on top of that he calls his attacks (which have very nice japanese names by the way), his name is "Hiro Protagonist" AND he has a rival?
This man... this man is the embodiment of everything anime stands for! I shall find him and have him teach me the ways of anime :OwtfO:
homin-Ratione - 4/10
Hmm, let's see here! Humanlike but then again not human, and with some physical differences... this is nice. Regular humans rarely make it far in anime! And he's a space-faring character? This is also nice! Being a space-faring race means that you have mechas, laser weapons and cannon-fodder robots that go rogue and have to get mowed down by the thousands.
Now let's see, what does he have in the ways of combat? A sword is very good, but it's only one meter long? Come back when it's ten meters long. And this armor... it's not anime at all
keptic: It's too big and clunky and heavy. And it doesn't even have rocket-propelled arms or laser eyes. No, this won't do. On the other hand, that's a very nice assortment of mobility powers! So yes... there's potential here, but he's not embracing the anime-ness.
Jade - N/A
Jak - N/A
Kelly MacAryn - N/A
King Ghidorah - 9/10
A giant dragon with three heads and a lust for destruction! THAT RULES! And he's all golden-scaled and stuff... and the heads look very much like an asian dragon's... and none of that wings plus arms plus legs stuff that the western dragons pull off. Of course, the whole lust for destruction and superiority complex means that he's a villain. And he is a "Kaiju"? That's a big thumbs up!
Now if only he had more anime attacks and called them... calling your attacks is very important, you know. And there's way too much detail on his appearance. Not even the protagonist gets to have this much detail. Definitely japanese, but not quite cutting it for a prime anime villain.
Marcus Wright - N/A
Minato Namikaze - 10/10
Honestly, what's there to say here? A ninja with the ability of teleportation, lightning quick reflexes, a cool unconventional weapon and THAT hairstyle? Not to mention his heroic sacrifice for the good of his village and how his personality is a perfect fit to everything anime related. No discussion here.
Okor Paleblood - 2/10
Ooo, this one's interesting. Of course you'd have to wear a hazmat suit while near him, but then again, the "fat smelly slash unwashed" archetype is pretty common in anime. Lots of transformations that go along with big physical changes is also very anime! Especially if there's transformation sequences. Although, I'll be honest here: they're disgusting. Guts hanging out and such isn't anime. You have big red blood stains which obscure all that, nobody wants to see all that graphic detail.
Aall those poisons and guns aren't particularly anime either, and this slow speed... that's horrible. Nobody likes slow-moving strong heroes in anime, where it's all about fighting fast! And strong! And being cool while at it!
So overall, if you want a better score be sure to look cooler: the poisons and diseases and such should be replaced by green particle clouds, green liquids and such - green stands for poison :derp: . And the armor needs to look more polished and whatnot. Or at least be stylishly dirty.
Revan Noctis - N/A
Samus Aran - 3/10
We don't see women in armor all that much. But this sort of armor really isn't anime: it's way too protective and useful, way too gender-obscuring, it even has a helmet! How are people supposed to enjoy her perfect hair and her model appearance? I do realize that she is portrayed as a strong woman this way and that the suit is actually practical for being in space or in hazardous areas, but unfortunately, that's not anime at all. Well, outside of that the suit itself looks pretty cool, and an arm cannon shooting energy blasts, missiles, beams and functioning as a swiss army knife of sorts. The Zero Suit does earn a bit of anime points but it's worn so rarely that it doesn't really count.
And then she's usually stoic but occasionally emotional, which is meh... just not enough for a high score.
Sarah Kerrigan - N/A
Strazio Rockwell - 9/10
That is one hell of a backstory! Some guy kills off his whole town for no visible reason, leaving only him alive, and he's stuck under some rubble while sustained by his rage? That's both metal and anime. And he's 15 when that happens. Awesome!
Also, magick that damages one's body when being used... cool! And it's fueled by his rage? That's even more metal. I can imagine the song lyrics: "I hunt the man that destroyed my life, I am driven by the seething rage within. Magick fueled by my fury, it kills me a little with each use but I won't rest until I have sated my thirst for revenge." Something like that :dur:
Anycase, he lacks the last nudge to go from "great" to "perfect 10", but still awesome!
Somerled - 10/10
A force of nature turned alive, a weather spirit controlling wind, lightning and cold? Feeding on fear, terror and whatnot? Taking on the appearance of a japanese man? He snags and eats people? AND he has split personalities sharing one body?
This right here, this is the sort of person that belongs in an anime! I guess I can give a high sco- wait, what's that? A whip that plays a theme song when used?! Say no more!
The Future Warrior (aka Graowr) - 7/10
That is one anime haircut if I ever saw one! And the scarf, wearing one even in combat so that it can flutter while she's engaging in aerial combat - yup, that is dope as hell. On the other hand, those clothes! They are way too practical, way too suited for combat, and they don't even have a giant emblem on the chestpiece or something. Well, there's that thing on the belt, but... nah, that's not cutting it.
Those red eyes are a big plus, on the other hand... and, what do I see there! Majin? A japanese race name? And "Graowr" as a name? And a tendency for naivety and charging into battle? This is sending me very mixed feelings :hur:
Trixie - 8/10
Ooo, this one's great! Appearance-wise, there's big pluses right away: above all, the sexy looks
Especially fighting in all sorts of tight-fitting and/or revealing attires! Now the armor isn't ideal, but it would seem that she doesn't always wear it, and stripping off damaged armor is always a thing. And then there's fancy-schmancy swords! Although again, NOT BIG ENOUGH. Seriously, you guys want to be anime characters? Get yourselves a sword that you could use as a surfboard or family-sized table surface.
Anyway, moving on... blasters aren't all that anime, but I guess the whole futuristic energy thing is cool. And magical superpowers, especially to shoot lightning bolts, are great too. Lightning in general is great, actually.
Of course, Trixie will unfortunately not be a main character, because she's 37 years old. If you're older than 18 you're already unlikely to be a protagonist. But maybe she'd be an important support character? Or a villain? I could picture her being a seductive, dangerous villain :dur:
Undyne - 10/10
This is without a doubt the most anime person I could think of! She has a sword twice her size, summonable spears, various eastern-themed weapons such as nunchakus, she does dialogue during combat, she has a sense of fairness even against her greatest opponents, AND she has a transformation sequence to a greater form! Also, she is amazingly good-looking. And that eyepatch adds a whole lot of anime points.
Utsuho Reiuji/Okuu - 8/10
Well let's see: A Hell Raven Yokai, not bad. Based on the Yatagarasu, a three-legged crow from japanese mythology, great! But, nuclear fusion and running a reactor? That's a big no-no! Nuclear power, especially nukes, has no place in anime. But then there's those awesome looks, the red eye and the cannon arm are very anime for instance. And of course, the dress when you could be fighting with armor. Now, I wonder if she transforms in a magical girl transformation sequence, because that is very anime as well. No? Ah well. The cape is a bit more western, but it's still stylish. Extra style points for you!
Now personality-wise I couldn't make out a lot, but I see that she announces all her attacks loudly? That's an absolute staple for good anime! Big extra-points for that. Birdbrainedness is also something that makes adorable characters even more adorable, but annoying. Especially if they're aware of their own flaw.
Would have a better score if it wasn't for violating that big taboo which is nuclear weapons. Possibly even a perfect score. A pity :poop:

The cape is a bit more western, but it's still stylish. Extra style points for you!
Now personality-wise I couldn't make out a lot, but I see that she announces all her attacks loudly? That's an absolute staple for good anime! Big extra-points for that. Birdbrainedness is also something that makes adorable characters even more adorable, but annoying. Especially if they're aware of their own flaw.
Would have a better score if it wasn't for violating that big taboo which is nuclear weapons. Possibly even a perfect score. A pity :poop:
