One's worth is only equal to their skill in battle.

Backing down from a fight, especially against a superior foe, is the greatest sin.

Power comes through conquest.

True conquest only comes through bloodshed.

Honor is for the dead.

Victory at all costs, and damn the consequences.

Hunt to kill, no prisoners.

Never interfere with another's hunt.

All that matters is strength and skill.

Location: Primary HQ is located in The Ashen Steppes, carved into a mountainside near the edge of the verse.

Goals: Collect bounties, amass artefacts, and acquire wealth through bloodshed.

Joining Requirements:

- Must be willing to kill other players and/or potentially banish them. We'll mainly be going for kills, but if someone hires us to banish we'd have no qualms with following through.

- Be courteous OOC when hunting. We'll be going around killing other PCs and generally being jerks, but OOC we should be reasonable when issuing challenges/fighting people.

- In order to avoid drama, be willing to communicate with your quarry OOC and notify them when you are going to be hunting them. If they don't want to fight it is your discretion on whether or not you want to crash their party, but naturally you must follow the PvP/Hunting rules.

- You can join other factions, but if we come to hunt one of your fellow faction members we expect you to be at least neutral in the conflict. (This one is more of an IC requirement than anything, you can break it, but you'd be excommunicated from the Ashen Blades.)

- Must be at least level 2

- Must complete the "Prove Your Worth" faction quest, or otherwise be accepted personally by Kuzuru.

- Must be willing to join a blood pact IC with the other members

Command Structure: The Ashen Blades are a tight-knit brotherhood of warriors. While it is generally agreed upon that no single blade outweighs the others, they do have a loose command chain. Generally, each member is allowed to pursue his or her own goals, so long as they do not interfere with the clan's goals.

Base Description

Carved into the side of a mountain, the Ashen Fortress serves as a base of operations for the mercenary group known as The Ashen Blades. The mountain itself is nestled in a far corner of the Ashen Steppes, situated between a series of semi-dormant volcanos and other mountains. From a distance one would be hard pressed to distinguish it from its kin. Up close, however, one might noticed the serpent-like pathway slithering up the face of the mountain, terminating at a flat landing about halfway up. A rectangular slab of stone, emblazoned with The Ashen Blade’s crest, serves as the only entrance and exit. If presented with the palm print of a Blade member, hidden machinations will spring to life and the slab will slide open to reveal the inner sanctum.

A long and narrow hallway slopes downward into the belly of the mountain. This redrock hallway leads to atrium that serves as a common area for the faction. About as big as a moderately sized bar the common area houses all the amenities a bounty hunter could want. A large flat screen television, surrounded by furniture, sits against one wall while a full-sized pool table occupies one corner. One wall serves as a digital touchscreen, through which Blades can track bounties, missions, and any other pertinent information. Lastly an open-air kitchen sits in the corner, ready to feed a small army.

From here one can take a hallway that leads to a series of about ten bedrooms, half of which are vacant. Or one can take a spiraling staircase which leads deeper into the mountain. Following this staircase will eventually take you to a large room. At the center of this room stands an ornate fountain filled with blood. A pedestal in the shape of a man’s hand rises from the center and grips an auburn-hued orb. This bloodwell invigorates nearby Ashen Blades. At the very bottom of the complex, accessible by a lift, a pair of geothermal generators harvest the Steppes natural heat and convert it into enough electricity to power the fortress.[/spoiler]

Prove Your Worth

Difficulty: Moderate (5000-10000 words, dependent on writing quality)
Reward - 100 OM + acceptance into The Ashen Blades

Not just any scrub with a sword can join The Ashen Blades. Prospective members must prove themselves to the faction. A blade's worth is measured by their strength, those that lack a ruthless and lethal edge are not welcome within The Ashen Blades. Those that wish to join must perform a simple task -- successfully hunt and eliminate a mark on the bounty board. Do this, and provide proof of your deed, and Kuzuru will welcome you into the faction with open arms, as well as a small monetary reward. Your target can be an NPC of your choice. If your target is a PC you can eliminate the word count as well as participate in the "Hunt Their Blood" quest.

Hunt Their Blood

Blood is a most potent narcotic for the demon Kuzuru, and the blood of a strong warrior is the sweetest of all. Although he prefers to spill the red stuff on his own, he is able to vicariously enjoy the fruits of someone else's slaughter. He is willing to pay any blade a moderate amount of omnilium should they be able to strike down a prime and return with a vial of their blood. The blade must also provide proof that he/she slayed a prime and did not just bring him pig's blood. A dataverse video would be perfect, but other methods of proof are acceptable. This quest is repeatable and cannot be completed if Kuzuru assisted in killing the target. If multiple members attempt the quest as a group the OM reward will be split among them.

Black Book Hunting

Requirements - Be affiliated with The Ashen Blades
Reward - 50 OM + your choice of 1 of the 4 basic food pills (Protein, Iron, Carbos, Calcium) OR 1 Power Pill

During his time in the Omniverse Kuzuru has stumbled across a number of people who he finds absolutely enthralling. Unfortunately enthralling means that he wants nothing more than to see them killed -- more so than anyone else. Should you hunt one of these people down, slay them, and provide proof of their demise (preferably a video) Kuzuru will reward you handsomely. This quest will stack with any other quest offered by The Ashen Blades. However there is no reward if Kuzuru assists in killing the target. If multiple members complete this quest the reward will be converted to flat OM and split among them. The list of eligible targets is updates as Kuzuru interacts with more denizens of the Omniverse and currently consists of the following.

Conquest Beyond Measure

Reward - 500 OM + reputation within The Ashen Blades

Power comes through conquest, or so says the ashen creed. Objects with inordinate amount of power known as artefacts litter the world and are wasted in the hands of peace-loving hippies. They most certainly would be put to better use by The Ashen Blades, if not for power then for a status symbol. Kuzuru will handsomely reward any blade that manages to wrest control of an artefact from another prime. The blade must be able to prove that he/she killed another prime to retrieve the artefact and did not simply find it hiding under a rock, after all, true conquest only comes through bloodshed. This quest is repeatable and cannot be completed if Kuzuru assisted in killing the target. If multiple members attempt the quest as a group the OM reward will be split among them. If the slain prime is carrying multiple artefacts, only one may be redeemed for the quest.
