October Monthly Accolades (Until November 13th)
#1
Everyone thought they were dead. But the Accolades rise from their grave for yet another month!

For those of you who are unaware, the Accolades involve nominating (and later, voting for) those who have outdone themselves in a particular area each month. For variety's sake, the categories for each month may be different.

You have until November 8th to nominate your choices. After that, we will proceed to the voting phase where members will vote among the two individuals with the most nominations for each category. An exception to this is if someone manages to get 5+ more nominations than the runner-up, in which case that person becomes the winner by default.

If you wish to participate, think of who stood out the most in a particular category this month and post your choice, along with a 2-3 sentence long explanation, in this thread. You are not barred from nominating your own characters/threads, nor do you have to fill out all the categories.

The winners will become this month's "Community Stars". And what benefits does this bring? Here is an explanation, courtesy of Alex:

(07-26-2016, 11:34 AM)Alex Wrote: As part of being voted as a Community Star/User of the Month (I use the terms interchangeable mainly because Community Star is less formal-sounding than User of the Month), these members gain a color (you must select this in your User CP) and access to the Community Stars R&D forum.  In the past this was my pseudo-private forum, but I changed the name so people are aware they can use it if they please.  I do a lot of brainstorming in there and pre-planning for stuff.  Stars are welcome to share their thoughts and their own ideas if they desire.  Or don't -- it's optional.

Community Stars R&D - http://omniverse-rpg.com/forumdisplay.php?fid=36 (Note this will only work if you're part of the User of the Month User Group)

Edit - Forum access is for the month following a member's selection as a Community Star, and this is irregardless of which 'accolade' you were selected for.

And now for this month's categories:

‘Best’ Character – Which character has you engaged the most?

‘Best’ Writer – Which writer wowed you the most?

Most Helpful – A staffer or a member who gave you amazing feedback on a story or was simply there to help you sort out some of your problems.

Rising Star – Which up-and-coming member stands at the crème of the crop? (must have joined within the last month and a half or have less than 8000 OM)

'Best' Story – What story did you find most riveting/entertaining? (For the sake of giving smaller threads a chance to shine, Dante's Abyss is automatically excluded from the running)

'Best' Fight Scene - Yes, despite this category not garnering any nominations the previous month, we will attempt to use it again. After all, combat still remains a key part of the Omniverse experience. So which fight scene did you think had the most punch?

'Best' NPC – What non-player character (can be a site, personal, or story NPC) entertained you the most (for whatever reason). Please note who the 'owner' of said NPC is, just in case I am not familiar with them.

Purple Ribbon - Consider this a bonus category for nominating someone who, while they may not be the best and have all the twitter followers, you believe deserves to be recognized for what they bring the the Omniverse. (The winner must be a DIFFERENT person than last month's winner; the September winner was Creatia Weatherly)

For this month's Best Writer I nominate Amaterasu for the Windfall Island project. It took quite a bit to get the stage set up and judging from the amount of secondary submissions we got, hopefully it'll keep on trucking.

‘Best’ Character – Admittedly biased since I've been keeping tabs on the SOSV, but I feel like Ballad's been pretty consistently strong this whole month, and I'm looking forward to seeing this fight go down in the next month or so.

‘Best’ Writer – will concur with Hiro. Sundoge has put a ton of effort into the windfall project, while at the same time keeping both of her characters plenty active, truly impressive.

Most Helpful – gotta say Alex, he's been really helpful with everything, despite being barely able to be here! We appreciate your efforts good sir.

Rising Star – I personally find Rasteva's choice of character quite interesting. Always willing to support people stretching the mold for characters in this!

'Best' Story – Hmm, I'll say The Strategist, the Hell Raven, and the Starpiece (Option C), two interesting characters, and good interactions. (and I will admit to being a real fan of these star piece quests.) Oh, this is Aabidah and Utsuho.

'Best' Fight Scene Though it's not a very straight-up example, I feel like King of the Castle has been full of fascinating conflicts. Props to Illidan on this one.

'Best' NPCOzal is the slimy and charismatic shister we all love to read. Looking forward to seeing Hiro's continued exploits with the character.

Purple Ribbon - Joline/NepNep: Fun presence in the Cbox, with very interested and

'Best' Character - I love reading Renji's posts. They have the perfect mixture of comedic and serious moments. Not to mention I love characters with affinities portraiting devils and demons.

'Best' Writer - This was atough choice for me but Ballad was just BARELY beat by Ms. Sundoge. Loving the Windfall Project girl, keep it up.

Most Helpful - Markashi wins this with no challenge. All the staff are helpful of course, but when ever I see him on, he is busy doing something staff related and still has the time to help me.

Rising Star - I haven't got much time to read new peeps threads, but Rasteva seems to be doing good so far. Good luck on getting up here with us further ahead Rasteva. :yay:

'Best' Story - Can I nominate myself? XD Joke but A Cold Path has been tense for all those involved so the eight of us involved, I include myself but am really giving props to everyone involved.

'Best' Fight Scene - I haven't read any fight scenes this month! I'm sure that SOSV vs The Blades wil be one for the books though.

'Best' NPC - Ozal has a good writer behind his character, and not only that, I love the character even though I'm not familiar with his source. That isn't often at all with me.

Purple Ribbon - I'm gonna throw another nomination for Sundoge. So helpful staffer, a delight to talk to and to write with. I love you, Ookami. :yay:

‘Best’ CharacterRenji/Strazio! Though mostly Renji right now seeing as the Ashen Blades is on the rise! His posts have a lot of personality to them, and I agree with Dawn on the demon thing. SPOOKY.

‘Best’ WriterAsh Williams. He's pulling off some pretty rad stunts in the Pale Moors, and I am all the hype. Keep it up, friend!

Most HelpfulMark, because he is :frogc00l: . Cherub team ftw!

Rising StarRasteva! They seem pretty chill, with a super cool character concept, to boot! (Giant sentient armor is always in season)

'Best' StoryTearen Wover's Underverse story-line, I'm Actually Quite Selfish. I love all the spookiness and creepy crawlies and y'know.... the menagerie of hellscape wonders. It's one wild ride.

'Best' Fight Scene - Illidan. What the Sage said!

'Best' NPC – I've nominated Strazio because of Valerie almost every time. This is a tough decision!

..... yeah. Valerie.

Purple Ribbon - Dawn/Amber's been doing some cool stuff! A bunch of quests and now a huge fustercluck of a fight... wish I could be that industrious, haha!

And now starts the voting phase! Interestingly, while most categories were automatic victories, the remaining two are hotly contested. It should be interesting to see who will emerge victorious. Smile

Voting will last until November 13th. You may vote even if you hadn't made any nominations. If you have and a nominee you put forth is in the run-offs, you don't have to cast your vote for that specific category (unless you wish to cast your vote for the opponent instead); your nomination will automatically count as a vote for the nominee.

On a side note, I've decided that, in cases where a member rather than a specific character wins a category, the winner can (if they so desire) post in the Accolades thread which account should get the colour. That way, those members who already have a nifty colour for their master account have the option to display their well-earned pink colour with a different account.

'Best' Story – 'The Strategist, the Hell Raven, and the Starpiece (Option C)' by Aadibah and Utsuho Reiuji vs. 'A Cold, Cold Path' by Scarecrow, Ascension, Chara, Ballad, Koal, Renji, Dawn and Claptrap vs. 'I'm Actually Quite Selfish' by Tearen Wover
Purple Ribbon – Neptune/Joline vs. Amaterasu vs. Epsilon Dawn

‘Best’ Character – Renji
‘Best’ Writer – Amaterasu
Most Helpful – Mark
Rising Star – Rasteva
'Best' Fight Scene - Illidan
'Best' NPC – Ozal (Hiro Protagonist)

For the remaining categories I'd cast my vote on:

Best story: "A cold, cold path", by Scarecrow, Ascension, Chara, Ballad, Koal, Renji, Dawn and Claptrap. Not really sure WHY I liked it but I did - overall a fun read! I also loved how so many people were able to join up in a single non-event thread, it's rare to see Smile

Purple ribbon: Dawn. Nep is an awesome member too but I don't see her around much (probably due to timezones?) and Dawn is just generally being awesome both in chat and in the IC forums. Also, I'm not the kind of ass that votes for themselves even if I wanted Tongue

Best Story - I'm gonna have to re-elect my vote for my own thread. :froggonk: Current events keep me from reading lately. So A Cold, Cold Path.

Purple Ribbon - Me and Ama are gonna cancel each others votes but my vote still stands with Sundoge XD
