June Monthly Accolades (Until July 5th)

Yes, ladies and gentlemen! For the first time in forever, the Monthly Accolades are actually out at the appropriate time! Now that I've actually managed this 'extraordinary' feat, let us hop right to it! =P

For those of you who are unaware, the Accolades involve nominating (and later, voting for) those who have outdone themselves in a particular area each month. For variety's sake, the categories for each month may be different.

You have until June 30th to nominate your choices. After that, we will proceed to the voting phase where members will vote among the two individuals with the most nominations for each category. An exception to this is if someone manages to get 5+ more nominations than the runner-up, in which case that person becomes the winner by default.

If you wish to participate, think of who stood out the most in a particular category this month and post your choice, along with a 2-3 sentence long explanation, in this thread. You are not barred from nominating your own characters/threads, nor do you have to fill out all the categories.

The winners will become this month's "Community Stars". And what benefits does this bring? Here is an explanation, courtesy of Alex:

As part of being voted as a Community Star/User of the Month (I use the terms interchangeable mainly because Community Star is less formal-sounding than User of the Month), these members gain a color (you must select this in your User CP) and access to the Omni-World R&D forum.  In the past this was my pseudo-private forum, but it's now a place for myself and others to discuss the Omniverse.  This is also the meeting place/brainstorming area for Story Aides and Story Guides, so for all intents and purposes, winning an accolade lets you become a pseudo-Story Aide for the duration of your reign.

Forum access is for the month following a member's selection as a Community Star, and this is irregardless of which 'accolade' you were selected for.

And the categories are:

‘Best’ Character – Which character has you engaged the most?

‘Best’ Writer – Which writer wowed you the most?

Most Helpful – A staffer or a member who gave you amazing feedback on a story or was simply there to help you sort out some of your problems.

Rising Star – Which up-and-coming member stands at the crème of the crop? (must have joined within the last month and a half or have less than 8000 OM)

'Best' Story – What story did you find most riveting/entertaining? Dark Data and Dante's Abyss are excluded from the running.

'Best' NPC – What non-player character (can be a site, personal, or story NPC) entertained you the most (for whatever reason). Please note who the 'owner' of said NPC is, just in case I am not familiar with them.

Purple Ribbon - Consider this a bonus category for nominating someone who, while they may not be the best and have all the twitter followers, you believe deserves to be recognized for what they bring the the Omniverse. (The winner must be a DIFFERENT person than last month's winner; the May winner was Guu)

Best Character: Harlann Higgs, hands down. His charade as Vic Hendy, particularly his time spent traveling with Enel - who was also pretty fantastic - was a joy to read.

Best Writer: Madbull34. His powers of grindhouse sleaziness are matched only by the undeniable charm of his narrative style.

‘Best’ Character & Writer – Graowr(Shawn). This guy- HAVEV YOU READ HIS DA SHIT?!?! HUNH?! HAVE YOU?!?! I didn't even know who Graowr was before DA. I love her. Shawn is just too great. Not only with Graowr though. He does Dawn, he does Enel, Bats. Like wtf bro. Give this guy a fucking medal.

Most Helpful – This is always a hard HEEEEEEEEERD- I mean HARD title. One person being the most helpful? Nah man. The whole fucking staff. You all work so hard to make an enjoyable roleplay environment for everyone this site. This month, I want to nominate everyone on the staff. Can I do that? *looks back to her advisors* I- Is th- The requirement is- is one? Shit. *Turns around* My officials have adviced me I have to chose a person, one person. Call me biased but after I did some semi extensive research on his entire history I find him charismatic and enthralling. Epic backstory and illidan's writer plays the character passionately too.

‘Best’ Writer – Tearen! And not just cause you beat me up. I hella respect you with all my heart and person.

Most Helpful – Probably Mark, Jeff, or Ken. They my secret buds and when I'm stupidly confused they help me.

Rising Star – Oops! Dust doesn't count I don't think (12k om, and has been here ish?) so I'll totally go with Madbull. Guy's a beast and totally blew me out of the water when reading his stuff. Looks like he attracted a lot of other eyes too with his character and writing style

'Best' Story – Whatever I'm nominating myself and Zack.  "Avast Ye Hearties" in vasty deep with Caira and Zack. STAR QUEST. Still goin' but we're nearly to the end....... What lies ahead?

'Best' NPC – jeff's Maggot. We've only completed two posts because of DA but there's a lot of potential and the concept is unique and cool! We are considering taking our pair of Npcs on the SS2.

Purple Ribbon - Zedd. Duh! He keeps kicking ass and I already filled all the other categories.

Character - Enel - just been a very entertaining character to follow. Been loving the twitter stuff.

Best writer - deadpool - he just narrates so well. Packs description without over-saturating the story

Rising star - madbull. This guy is going places. I hope he stays around a while because his stuff is really enjoyable; could have easily won best character to me if not for Enels surge of activity.


Purple ribbon - Future Warrior - the volume of work he is putting into this years DA is not only commendable, but something to awe at.

I've only been reading DA this month because it's so intense on time, so pardon me if I skip someone that earned it.

Best character for me has been Harlan. I hope we can follow-up post DA.

Best writer is tough. Archer and Zedd were both so impressive, but my vote goes to Deadpool. He really entertained me this month.

Staff is easily Karl. He's giving us all a ton of fun with the program and it must be very hard work.

Best Writer -- This one is harder than BC. I'll think about it, but I probably won't nominate anyone.

Best Character -- Mad Bull. What I love about DA is that I often read people whose writing I've never read. More times than not, I wind up being like "holy shit I love this writer" or "holy shit I love this character" (sometimes both?). Two years ago, that was Okor. Last year was Hiro. Pretty sure the medal this time goes to the Mad Bull. Just such an amusing character concept and a writing style that's complementary in every way. Plz keep writing.

Rising Star -- Mad Bull (I think he's only been here a month and a half).

NPC -- The Rock, obviously. He'll pop up sometime.

Purple Ribbon -- Batman; because he's the Batman, and I'm happy he's back to writing/activity.

Story -- Wish I could say I've read outside the bubble of DA, but I have not.

Voting will last until July 5th. You may vote even if you hadn't made any nominations. If you have and a nominee you put forth is in the run-offs, you don't have to cast your vote for that specific category (unless you wish to cast your vote for the opponent instead); your nomination will automatically count as a vote for the nominee.

In cases where a member rather than a specific character wins a category, the winner can (if they so desire) post in the Accolades thread which account should get the colour. That way, those members who already have a nifty colour for their master account have the option to display their well-earned pink colour with a different account.
