June Monthly Accolades (Until July 22nd)
#1
June may have come and gone, but we still have some unfinished business to attend to. Yes, it's time to determine the winners of yet another edition of the Monthly Accolades!

For those of you who are unaware, the Accolades involve nominating (and later, voting for) those who have outdone themselves in a particular area each month. For variety's sake, the categories for each month may be different.

You have until July 7th to nominate your choices. After that, we will proceed to the voting phase where members will vote among the two individuals with the most nominations for each category. An exception to this is if someone manages to get 5+ more nominations than the runner-up, in which case that person becomes the winner by default.

If you wish to participate, think of who stood out the most in a particular category this month and post your choice, along with a 2-3 sentence long explanation, in this thread. You are not barred from nominating your own characters/threads, nor do you have to fill out all the categories.

The winners will become this month's "Community Stars" and will receive a user title in recognition of their achievement (which can be activated by going into the User CP and changing your Display Group).

And now, this month's categories are:

‘Best’ Character – Which character has you engaged the most?

‘Best’ Writer – Which writer wowed you the most?

Most Helpful – A staffer or a member who gave you amazing feedback on a story or was simply there to help you sort out some of your problems.

Rising Star – Which up-and-coming member stands at the crème of the crop? (must have joined within the last month and a half or have less than 8000 OM)

'Best' Story – What story did you find most riveting/entertaining?

'Best' Post About...Nothing – As Seinfeld had taught us, fiction doesn't always have to be about something. If executed well, even scenes where characters merely go about their daily lives or discuss trivialities can be entertaining. What was the best post you've read that had little to nothing to do with the overarching plot?

'Best' NPC – What non-player character (can be a site, personal, or story NPC) entertained you the most (for whatever reason). Please note who the 'owner' of said NPC is, just in case I am not familiar with them.

Purple Ribbon - Consider this a bonus category for nominating someone who, while they may not be the best and have all the twitter followers, you believe deserves to be recognized for what they bring the the Omniverse. (The winner must be a DIFFERENT person than last month's winner; last month's winner was Red-Hood)

Best Story - "Welcome to the Omniverse, Claire Ferguson." Loved the whole thing so far, and every post left me hanging on, wanting to see what's gonna happen next.

‘Best’ CharacterMarcus Wright! He's really facing some nice challenges in DA, I'm on the edge of my seat reading all about it. :-)

‘Best’ WriterEnzo Matrix/Zack Fair. Super cool characters, super cool writer, just really cool all around. Little Lost Charmander is a great read, too.

Rising StarIllidan is already on the road to greatness! His Pale Moors story is just, freaking amazing.

'Best' StoryA world without He-man. That's Skeletor, Thor and Rin. Their thread is super funny, I love to see such different characters interacting in the Nexus!

'Best' NPC – Does Barry count? Hiro Protagonist's Barry in the spooky DA thing. He's cool!

Purple Ribbon - Neptune! I really enjoyed their Chaos Emerald quest and they are always cool when they pop into the chat. Big Grin

Most Helpful – Jade Harley. She is very active with responding to questions and does so without ever seeming to fatigue. Good job.

‘Best’ Character – Tartarossss. There's so much history and depth in his character that I want to explore.

‘Best’ Writer – Dat Kalli Jay. Seriously, go read her stuff in the dunes. Her play by play tactical war writing gets me pumped every time.

Most Helpful – Gonna be Mark this month. I just see him everywhere.

'Best' Story – Eon is only two posts into his Return of the King story so far, but I already am in love with the premise.

'Best' NPC – Christa Sterling; again, she has so much story built into her, it gets me seriously invested in what happens to her.

Purple Ribbon - I'm gonna say Ballad; dude is around all the time and is always fun to talk to.
And, we dream of home I dream of life out of here Their dreams are small My dreams don't know fear I got my heart full of hope I will change everything No matter what I'm told How impossible it seems We did it before And we'll do it again We're indestructible Even when we're tired And we've been here before Just you and I

'Best' Character: Vision. Really interesting take on playing an android, it's very refreshing. His interactions with Marcus and the Skynet plot are super interesting.

'Best' Writer: For me it'd have to be Hiro this month. Really impressing me with his DA stuff.

Most Helpful: Alex. Always available to answer my many silly questions. What more can I ask for?

Rising Star: Jeanne d'Arc. On a site filled with Gods and Kings, a character like hers is a welcome change. I predict some good stuff from her. Plus, I'm a huge language nerd and seeing the interspersed franglais is really cool.

'Best' Story: Illidan's Let Darkness Come quest. Reeeeeeeeally good. Really looking forward to seeing his interactions in the Moors.

'Best' Post About Nothing: Don't know that I actually found any posts unrelated to the plot this month, but in terms of posts where little happens, Zack Fair's Abner had a couple good ones before the excitement began in DA. You really get a good idea of the character very quickly and they're quite entertaining.

'Best' NPC: I'm a little biased, but Gildarts's Christa wins this one for me. I didn't pay as much attention to the Secondary Saga as I should have, but the character is really growing on me. Lots of depth here.

Purple Ribbon: Jak/Marcus. A genuinely friendly and welcoming presence no matter when and where I see her.

Well, this is a new record in letting things run for way too long. XD In any case, onto the voting!

Voting will last until July 22nd. You may vote even if you hadn't made any nominations. If you have and a nominee you put forth is in the run-offs, you don't have to cast your vote for that specific category (unless you wish to cast your vote for the opponent instead); your nomination will automatically count as a vote for the nominee.

‘Best’ Character – Marcus Wright vs. Tartaros vs. Vision
‘Best’ Writer – Zack Fair/Enzo Matrix vs. Kalli Jay vs. Hiro Protagonist
Most Helpful – Jade Harley vs. Mark vs. Alex
Rising Star – Illidan vs. Jeanne d'Arc
'Best' Story – 'Welcome to the Omniverse, Claire Ferguson' (Blink) vs. 'A World Without He-Man' (Skeletor, Rin, Thor, Red-Hood) vs. 'Return of the King?!' (Eon Saverem, Thor) vs. 'Let Darkness Come' (Illidan)
Purple Ribbon - Neptune vs. Ballad vs. Jak/Marcus Wright

'Best' Post About...Nothing – Pre-DA Abner (Zack Fair)
'Best' NPC – Christa Adams (Gildarts)

Hope it's not too late, but I do need to put a vote in for Lord Dominator as Rising Star.
Torcher of tomes, slayer of sorcerers, taker of ears, and flayer of men. Reasonable rates.
