[Avengers] Assembling the Team
#1
Captain Rogers watched as the Vision slowly crafted a small motorboat out of kaleidoscopic colors. They were standing on the shores of Costa del Sol. Vision had shared much of his understanding of the Omniverse, and Captain Rogers did his best to understand.

"So it's a bit like Battleworld."

"Precisely."

"And you say we automatically come back to life?"

"Yes."

The boat was finished, and its motor roared its greetings. The two Avengers climbed aboard. The boat, sensing the weight of its passengers, shot off the eastern shore. The super soldier scratched his chin.

"That's... strange."

"Not too strange," the Vision replied. He spoke with his usual calm tone, but with an amplified volume. "How many times have just you and I returned from death?"

The captain opened his mouth to protest, then closed it.

"Alright, last question," Captain Rogers shouted over the wind, "Where are we going?"

"Avengers Island."

The Captain turned to the android. "There are Avengers here?"

"There will be," the Vision offhandedly commented, "I've just bought a property upon which we shall assemble this world's Avengers."

"Oh." Captain Rogers stared into the distance. "Well, then we have a lot of work to do. We should recruit people. How should we do that?"

"I've just sent an advertisement to various popular social network websites in public Dataverse servers, and set them on a relay-"

"Vision," Rogers interrupted, "Remember who you're talking to."

The Vision nodded. "Indeed. To be brief, I put it everywhere on the Internet."

"Understood. Thank you."

Captain Rogers paused. "But if you're just forming the Avengers, won't this property be empty-"

The soldier fell silent as the island came into view. A large glass and steel tapestry shot skyward from the island, twiting at the top into a series of antennae. Near the top of the tower, a large titanium "A" was etched into a chrome ring. It was just like Stark Tower from his home world, except this was apparently built in a matter of minutes.

The Vision seemed to guess what the captain was thinking. "Omnilium," he commented, "is a highly useful material."

"Go figure," Captain Rogers muttered under his breath.

"Mr. Jarvis is waiting for us inside," the Vision noted, preparing to dock the boat at the base of the tower, "And we, in turn, will wait for our recruits."

The salty foam created a hazy mist, casting a faded rainbow over something that Cap was just moments ago thinking that he would never see again. Vision's description of this strange place was jarring to be sure, and it was made no simpler by this 'Omnillium'. The prospect of a fresh team of Avengers grounded Steve for a moment, giving him something realistic to focus on. No matter how many times he had traveled space time, Rogers was still just a kid from Manhattan. Everything impressed him. He subconsciously thought of places like Genosha and the Savage Land to help actualize this new island.

The boat finally rode to a stop at the tower's built in hangar. Vision floated out of the boat and onto the dock. Still awed by the concept of things being built from a sparkling energy, Cap stepped gingerly out of the boat, feeling his way across the platform.

"There is no need to be so apprehensive, Captain." Vision commented. "The structure is quite stable, despite its seemingly questionable origins."

Rogers stepped with more confidence now, following Vision off of the dock. "Understood. So now that we're here, I'd like to check on the Tower's schematics. There's some things that need to be prepared if we'll be training a fresh roster of Avengers."

Vision nodded. "Most certainly. Such things shall be dealt with."

"Good." Cap dusted his shield, removing the thin film of salty sand that had gathered during their ride in the shallows. "Then let's get started."

When Hal had arrived in the Vasty Deep he had quickly talked with one of the locals.  When a report of a strange building that came out of nowhere had come up Hal had decided he was going to go check on that.   After all seeing what was going on could prove to be to his benefit.  If it was because of some villain Hal hoped he could remember how to make constructs or how to fight in time to handle that.   If it was a Hero perhaps Hal could see if the individual was willing to become part of a Green Lantern Corps.  In any case this was what motivated Hal to fly to where the island was.  Upon arriving on the sandy beach of the island Hal examined the place.  The tower was interesting to say the least because it was advanced technology,  more so than anything that he had seen here so far.  Of course the technology of the white armored soldiers near that one gate to Coruscant was probably just as advanced if not more so.  But in any case,  Hal was curious.  Who exactly lived here?  So he walked up to the front door and made a construct of a green hand that knocked on the door.  Finally he was able to make constructs.  "Hello,  anyone home?"

Judy ran to the nearest dock, taking a quick glance around to find a boat. No dice. She sighed, leaning against a wall for a moment, before remembering something important. She could just make a boat by herself. But what kind? Here was the problem with speedboats; they were often really unstable if the mammal operating it wasn't a pro. And Judy was a police officer, not a Navy soldier. As such, the ride to Avengers Island wouldn't be fun. Not at all. However, that may have been her best option at this point.

So she did that. It was certainly rough, as she'd predicted. But it wasn't unmanageable. At the very best, it was quite uncomfortably wobbly, and at worst, it was terrible. But she made it through to the island.

"Ugh, finally...," she said, stretching her arms out, and walking to what seemed to be the obvious place to go. The building in the center. After a quick jog to the building, she came across two mammals dressed in... interesting clothing.

"Er...," a taller person in blue murmured, before glancing over to his red-skinned companion.

A short hesitance, and then he nodded.

"Welcome to Avengers Island."

Surprisingly enough, the rabbit in an officer's uniform wasn't quite as jarring as one would assume. Admittedly, Cap had his reservations, but having worked with a cyborg raccoon from space, a magical teleporting bulldog, and a telepathic bird, the Avenger was no longer thrown off by abnormal animals... too much. To Cap's relief, Vision spoke first.

"Greetings, I am The Vision. This is my companion, Captain America."

Cap gently tapped his fingers to his brow, tipping his head in a simple salute. "Ma'am."

Vision continued. "It is our pleasure to welcome you to Avengers Tower. Please, make yourself at home."

Vision floated gently back into the Tower. Cap gave Judy one last glance, then smiled and motioned for her to follow. "After you Ma'am."

The Vision smiled at the rabbit. "And what is your name?"

"Judy Hopps, officer of the law, at your service!" she chirped.

The Vision nodded. "Notice: formality in speech detected. Feel free to relax here, Officer-."

A knock on the door interrupted the android.

"If you'd excuse me," he said, walking warily towards the door. He swiped his makeshift keycard against the invisible panel on the glass wall. When the glass doors slid open, a man in a strange green outfit was waving a large prosthetic green hand protruding from his ring.

"Hello," the man said, "This is where the Avengers are meeting, right?"

The Vision nodded and waved him in. "And what is your name?"

"So who are the Avengers or what are they?"  asked Hal.  Given he'd never heard of the Avengers because his world had the Justice League and the various Lantern Corps Hal was in the dark about the avengers.  Frowning as he surveyed the individual Hal thought the individual was a robot.  Hal considered the options. But his encounters with robots were a problem.   "And who are you? The name is Hal Jordan. I used to be a Green Lantern."

"You sure this is a good idea?" Came the voice of Rufus for the tenth time in as many minutes. Blink rolled her eyes as she looked down at her communicator with an annoyed look, as if he could see it. "We've been running this Exiles thing for like a week and you're already heading to a random island to meet random people for a random reason."

"I'm just checking it out," she repeated back to him again. She appreciated his concern (though not his pushiness), but he was starting to grate on her nerves. "What's the harm in just meeting the people and seeing what's what?"

"They could kill you."

"Oh." She responded, as if that was the first time she thought of it. "Yea, well, I guess that could happen."

The gadget went quiet for a bit as Blink stepped out of her fuchsia portal and onto the wooden dock underneath her. She had been 'porting around The Vasty Deep, from landmark to landmark, to make it across the water without getting too wet. She finally made it to her destination: a small dock just off of a tall tower at the corner of an island. The directions had been easy to follow, and it wasn't like the structure to easy to spot. She made it here easily, despite never being in this area.

"You're supposed to be going to Costa Del Sol to recruit the Spearmaiden," Rufus reminded her. Again, it felt like he was on repeat.

"I'll go there when I'm done here," Blink promised.

As she stepped forward towards the tower, she thought about her mission as it stood. She had just formed the Exiles Detective Agency, which was actually a front for a special ops cell of a private military. But thus far, she only had herself and the gun-toting Rufus. So, she was given dossiers on potential recruits...this Shieldmaiden being the one that stood out to her. But on her way to The Vasty Deep, she had noticed an advertisement for another potential super-group forming...with a name that was familiar to her from her old world. She hadn't really considered whether or not she'd join, but it was definitely worth investigating.

"I'm just trying to make some friends," she said to Rufus, but was actually just convincing herself. "If we're gonna do this detective thing, we need all the help we can get."

"Sure," Rufus responded, not buying it. "Just get in, hear 'em out, then let's get back to the job. I'll meet you in Costa del Sol."

"Got it."

The line went quiet as Blink climbed to the top of a small hill. From here, she could see the dock behind her, and the tower in front of her. She was a bit nervous...the last time she had dealt with this many Primes, she was fighting for her life in Dante's Abyss, watching friends die all around her. Hopefully this would be less bloody. With a flash of green energy in her fingertips, she formed a small portal underneath and disappeared into it.

On the other side, she landed on a small balcony. She was just outside of a window, which was conveniently left cracked open. She squatted down, one of her long ears up against the parted glass pane. She couldn't see all of the bodies in the room, but she counted at least two shadows on the ground. "My name is Hal Jordan," one of them was saying. "I used to be a Green Lantern."

Claire leaned up against the outside wall of the tower, and listened.

The rabbit took a quick look around the main room of the Avengers tower while the others were occupied with talking to another mammal, and damn, was it fancy. Also, it was rather large for an establishment with supposedly not many people in it. But she could understand that. After all, it would hopefully attract more members to get the place going, right? Of course, she picked up on the conversation the others were having, and something struck her as a little odd.

"Excuse me, sir?" she asked, poking into the conversation. As expected, the guy in green took a second to locate her. Thanks, size. "What exactly is a Green Lantern?"

"Well..." He went silent for a moment, thinking of a way to explain things in laymammal's terms.

"Basically, a space police officer," he said, shrugging gently.

Judy smiled widely, her teeth slightly showing. "Well, I'll be darned. I'm a cop myself." She held up her paw for him to shake. "Judy Hopps, Zootopia Police Department."

The man slightly bent down for a handshake. "Hal Jordan. Green Lantern."

The rabbit brought her paw up briefly as a relaxed salute. "Pleasure to meet you, sir."

Hal nodded. "Likewise."

Smiling at Judy,   Hal relaxed.  She was friendly,  but he was shaking with the hand that wasn't covered in the Gauntlet.  At some point he needed to actually hunt down his power ring or find a way to reforge a Green Lantern Ring. Doing such was going to be a difficult task. To do it,  he'd need to become the Embodiment of Will Power.  Such a task was not going to be easy to say the least for him.   "I was one...until circumstances made me leave the Green Lantern Corps in order to give them a fresh start.  At some point I might try to re-establish the Green Lanterns in the Omniverse. But to do that,  I'd first need to get an actual ring instead of this bulky contraption."  The gauntlet weighed a ton and was uncomfortable for him to wear.   "So Judy,  how strong willed are you?"

"Speaking of which, it'd be logical to demonstrate our respective abilities, so that we may better cooperate in future operations."

A 3-dimensional image etched itself in Vision's software. The Tower had detected another lifeform that Vision was not aware of, but now he could see the female humanoid hiding behind one of the few opaque walls of the Tower.

"Including anyone who is hiding," he coyly said, turning to meet the unknown individual.

The Vision turned and smiled to Mr. Jarvis. "Sir, if you would be so kind as to lead any other prospective Avengers to the training facilities?"

Mr. Jarvis nodded. Captain Rogers grinned widely. "Are they as good as the ones back home?"

"Better, Captain Rogers," the android replied, "For we are now also capable of theoretically possible but unfeasible architecture. There will be a number of training structures that I think you would enjoy. Everyone, if you would follow me to the fourteenth floor?"

The Vision pressed his keycard against the elevator doors. With a swish, the doors opened. It was quite a luxurious elevator; almost invisible glass walls which showed the mechanics of the elevator, as well as an astonishing view of the inside of the Tower, a marble floor emblazoned with a stylized "A", and faux golden handles that could be used as a mirror.

The rabbit identified as Judy Hopps excitedly entered the elevator, and the "Green Lantern" followed, nodding as if he was impressed. Captain Rogers was quite familiar with the elevator.

"Just like home," he murmured.

The Vision smiled at him and stuck out his arm to hold the elevator doors. He once again glanced at the Prime hiding outside.

"Coming?" he said, using the speakers in the Tower to amplify his voice.

The amount of ingenuity displayed by the robot named the "Vision"  was impressive to say the least.  It wasn't surprising given that the robot had access to Omnilium in greater quantities than Hal did. This made the former Green Lantern more than a little jealous.  Of course right now he was working on the problem of not having enough Omnilium. After all if he joined this group and became one of their recruits he could go strong enough so he could collect the Omnilium he needed.  The Green Lanterns were needed.  The Avengers probably wouldn't be enough to police all the verses,  but he could ally the Green Lanterns with them.  If anything,  the corps would be very useful to have around.  Backup was always good to have. Given his gauntlet was STILL not working right,   Hal knew he had a lot of work to do.  But it was work that was well worth it.

"Now if only I could get my powers to function as well as they used to,  I'd be fully ready to be an Avenger."

Blink's current position didn't allow for a great view of the interior of the tower. She could hear voices inside, but couldn't make out any of the figures. One of them had introduced themselves as Hal Jordan, but she couldn't see him. On the other hand, she could clearly see a shadow with ridiculously large ears poking out it's head, but couldn't hear a voice associated with it. Thus, she had to re-locate. The teleporter began to slowly creep along the side of the building, staying on the balcony level she was on.

The first person she saw was the character that had introduced himself as Hal Jordan. He was pretty much the definition of a generic-looking white man. He had dark hair and a decently buff build, suggesting that he was someone that kept fit. Her elf-like ears twitched as she listened to him explain himself to someone else about what a 'Green Lantern' was. He had mentioned it was like a space police officer, but it too vague of a description for her to match it to anything she'd heard of before. He kept looking at a weird contraption around his wrist and hand, suggesting that it had something to do with why he was in the manor to begin with. Blink took careful note that the gauntlet-like gadget was probably a weapon, and thus needed to be watched.

He had been talking to the owner of the long-eared shadow. It was a bunny. Claire had seen a lot of crazy things in her previous life as a superhero across the multiverse, but this was in the top five of weird things to witness. The person Hal was talking to introduced herself as Judy Hopps, and she was literally a walking, talking rabbit. To be honest, Blink didn't think she looked particularly dangerous, and she sounded even more innocent when she spoke. Her tomboy-side kind of disappeared for a moment as she had a brief 'awwwww' moment in her head, thinking how insanely adorable the so-called Zoopian Police Officer looked shaking hands with the tall, bulky Green Lantern.

"...anyone who is hiding," Blink overheard. Immediately upon hearing the words, she teleported away, to the other side of the tower. She was still on the balcony, but now with an opposite view inside the room then she had before. There was a multi-shaded man that had spoken those words looking up at the window she previously was occupying. She tried to listen for him to drop a name, but he didn't give one. He spoke in a weird kind of tone that Blink found it hard to compare to other accents...it was a mix of robotic and sage-like. It was...actually familiar.

"Vision," said the teleporter, under her breath. She had met this man before. Or rather, she had met a version of this man. Her time-jumping superteam had gone to an Earth where the machine Cerebro had killed all humans in the world, and Vision was one of the renegade survivors. This particular copy of Vision was unknown to her, but she had met enough doppelgangers in her dimension-hopping days to be wary of a familiar face.

From this position, inside the cooled circular room, she could see a butler (at least, he was dressed like a butler) guiding the four people to an elevator. She had seen three of the four earlier, but the fourth was by far the most dangerous looking. He was another white man, like Jordan, but he was built significantly larger. The man in the cape had referred to him earlier as Captain Rogers (at least, Blink assumed as much...there was no way the butler was named that). Upon hearing the name, Blink squinted a moment to try and place him. As if on cue, the man she recognized as Captain America turned his head without realizing he was being watched. She hadn't met the man personally, but there was no way to have been to as many Earths as she had, to not know who Steve Rogers was.

The five-some all gathered in an elevator. The Vision once again raised his eyes up to the corner of the rafters where Blink was currently situated. He clearly knew exactly where she was, even though she's teleported twice since the first time he made her location. "You coming?" He asked, his voice sounding so familiar.

Her emerald eyes squinted again. She clutched the wood platform she was balancing on and then made a decision. With a quick move, she dropped down into another pink portal, this time appearing in the back of the elevator, behind the group.

"Yes," she answered, that was all Clarice Ferguson had to say. For now.

The Vision widened his eyes in surprise as a small pink explosion of clouds joined them in the elevator. He let go of the door. Mr. Jarvis bowed down to the five heroes, and took his leave. The elevator started zooming upwards at a rapid speed.

“Ms. Ferguson?” he exclaimed, “Good to see another friendly face here.”

“You know her?” Captain Rogers said.

“Not personally, but she is in... our Avengers database. A mutant, correct? You come from one of the parallel universes.”

Blink nodded silently. The Vision smiled warmly.

“If you have good intentions, and the ability to carry them out, you are welcome here. I do hope you intend to stay-”

The elevator doors slid open and the Avengers bustled out. The Vision stopped just outside of the elevator doors. Captain Rogers glanced at him.

“Ah, yes, Captain Rogers, if you would take our guests and assess their abilities? Something urgent has come up. If you would excuse me...”

Super_Vision said: Greetings, Mr. Mime. How can I help?
MrMime220 said: We have a situation. A number of anti-Pokemon terrorists have kidnapped several Pokemon from our community. If you’re willing to help, I’ll send you the details.
Super_Vision said: We’re always willing, Mr. Mime. Let me review the case with the rest of the team.
MrMime220 said: Excellent. Mewtwo will be pleased. I’m sending the information now.

Vision opened the zip file and scanned its contents within a microsecond. He nodded to himself. This was a plausible mission, even though the team had barely met each other. He knew that he and Captain Rogers could cooperate well in a team, and it seemed that Mr. Jordan was also used to working in an Avengers-like environment. Blink, his records showed, was a member of an interdimensional strike team. Ms. Hopps was clearly more than willing to cooperate.

“Well, then,” the Vision muttered, “Time to assemble.”

He made his way towards the training room where the other Avengers were.

As a Former Green Lantern Hal knew he didn't have the duty to defend anyone. With the Gauntlet he was pretty much freed from any obligation. But when he heard of the mission he smiled a little. For a mission could actually give him something to do.  Plus it would make a good test of his skills and MIGHT even make him able to make energy constructs once more.  Of course he'd likely regain the ability at some point anyway.  But sooner was most definitely better than later actually because he knew he'd need that power.   "I'll go with you on the mission.  But after it is over I will need some serious training in order to get myself back into top form.  I have to admit,  I'm a bit rusty when it comes to working on teams."     Hal wasn't going to go into details about why he was rusty or the fact he'd 'betrayed'  the Green Lantern Corps in order to give them a fresh start.  His new team mates the Avengers didn't even need to know such things presently and it would be better if he kept some secrets after all.

"I mean, at the risk of sounding biased, I'd say my willpower is fairly strong. It would have to be, since I'm the only rabbit officer in Zootopia. Takes guts," she said, putting her hands behind her back, as half a respectful gesture, and half a way to fiddle with them without anyone noticing. Though she was loathe to admit it, she was slightly nervous. All these people in costumes, a captain, an android, and a space cop, next to her, a simple rabbit? Sounded like she was playing in the big leagues now. She steeled her resolve, taking a deep breath. I can do this, she thought to herself

"Ms. Hopps. You seem worried. There is no need. We're all friends here," the android said.

Judy chuckled weakly. She knew that. "That's not the issue, sir. It's irrelevant, anyway." She still held her professional attitude toward the group, though she did trust them. Likely nerves.

"Speaking of which, it'd be logical to demonstrate our respective abilities, so that we may better cooperate in future operations," the android said. "Including anyone is hiding." Odd of him to mention that; she'd noticed a few squeaks near the balcony windows herself. Honestly, she thought it was weather, or wildlife. She supposed she was wrong.

The Vision guided the group (sans the butler, who she hadn't figured out the name of yet) to the elevator, and she entered excitedly. It was time to prove her mettle as an Avenger, among supermammals.

After a moment, Vision spoke up once more. "Coming?"

This was confusing for a moment, wasn't this the whole team? A light crackling alerted her to the presence of another being in the elevator, and her spoken word alerted the others. The android and this lady seemed to know each other. This was vaguely surprising, but not unreasonable. What she was concerned about was the teleporting. "Is nobody going to question that?" she muttered under her breath, right before the elevator opened.

She followed the Captain to the training room, as ordered by the android. He apparently had more important business.

"So! Where do we start?"
#17
The Vision walked into the training room.

"We start here," the synthezoid announced, "If I may have your attention?"

He placed his keycard on a nearby table, which lit up. Words were splayed in a large 3D holographic screen floating above a glass table.

Avengers Mission Report #01
Codename: “Peace and Quiet"
Date: July 23rd, 2016
Location: Cinnabar Channel, Vasty Deep
Dispatched: Vision, Captain America, Officer Hopps, Blink, Green Lantern
Mission: Reconnaissance of six Pokemon hostages:
One Skarmory
Two Wobbuffets
One Golduck
One Xatu
One Natu
In addition to the apprehension of Lord Carlton
Manned security consists of twelve enemy soldiers, equipped with World War I military gear
Weapons consist of rifles and one machine gun
Unmanned security consists of sealed doors and security cameras
Enemy base is a two-floor underground bunker
Hostages located Floor B2 of enemy base
Lord Carlton located Floor B2 of enemy base

The team watched intently as Vision explained the mission. Only the eerie blue light of the hologram lit the room.

"One thing the report fails to mention is the hatch that leads inside," the Vision commented, "It has no discernible handles or switches, but it is likely activated in a separate room inside the base."

The Vision tapped one of the rooms, and the hologram zoomed in. Two figures were roughly sketched inside.

"First, I will infiltrate alone to neutralize the security room, so our entrance will be more or less undetected. Ms. Ferguson will then open a portal. Inquiry: can you sustain a stable portal to transport the team 20 meters underground?"

"Easily," Blink tersely replied.

"Excellent. Ms. Ferguson, Mr. Jordan and Captain Rogers will then enter through that portal and engage the hostiles. Now, as a friend of mine says...”

He turned to Captain America and smiled. “Suit up.”

Captain Rogers chuckled, then gestured towards his teammates. The three Avengers jogged towards the elevator. The Vision glanced at Officer Hopps, who sat on a chair with a dejected look.

“Officer Hopps-“

“I know, I’m not strong enough. I understand. All I can do is crawl inside small spaces and jump tall distances. But I can help-”

The Vision smiled widely. “I agree. I need you to crawl inside small spaces and jump tall distances.”

Before the Vision could further elaborate on his vague declarative, Officer Hopps hollered, “Alllright!” and hopped frantically after her new teammates. Vision tapped a button on the table.

“Mr. Jarvis? I think we’ll need the Quinjet.”

With that, the android downloaded the mission report into his database, as well as the blueprints of the enemy base.

As the Vision felt his body growing lighter, he let himself drop through the floor. He dropped until he reached the hangar bay, where the other team members were suiting up. Right before he phased through the floor again, the android resolidified his body and landed on the ground. The Avengers looked at him, shocked, all except for Captain Rogers.

“Avengers?” the android grinned, “Assemble."

It had been a rush to hear those words again. Captain America had every intention of Assembling. Having nearly accepted the permanence of his stay in this new and strange 'Omniverse', Having a mission to complete renewed the Captain's sense of purpose. Climbing aboard the familiar Quinjet was just icing on the cake. Vision's plan was foolproof, as all of the android's plans were. It was just a matter of execution.

"Just one question, Vision," Cap inquired. "What are these 'Pokemon'? What do they look like?"

With a simple tilt of his head, Vision activated the holographic briefing projections in the center of the jet. The grainy blue images that flared to life were strange to be sure, but Cap had every intention of fulfilling his mission. The first step to understanding and accepting his predicament would be to dive in headfirst. With a sidelong glance, Cap sized up Hal Jordan. Despite the man's confident demeanor, Cap had his reservations. Thankfully, he had two people from his world that he could trust: Vision and Blink. Cap had even come to accept Officer Hopps as a viable member of the team.

"Alright, Jordan. Let me set something straight," Cap declared in an authoritative, yet gentle tone. "When we're on the ground, I'm going to need you to follow my orders, understood?"

Hal gazed back, a strange look in his eyes.

"I'll take that as a yes. Just watch my back out there, soldier."

As the quinjet began to rise up into the sky, Blink watched the reactions of her new teammates. She was sitting in the back of the aerial vehicle, up against the wall on the port side. This jet reminded her a lot of the X-Jet that she used to utilize back when she was a member of the X-Men and the Exiles. This was a bit roomier, though, which made sense considering the Avengers had a much larger budget. She thought about how much Omnilium Vision must have had to use to create such a large, functional vehicle like this. He obviously had quite the memory to do it from scratch. Blink shifted a bit on the hard seat to push the fabric of her uniform down. She didn't want to wear an Avengers outfit, so she was kept on the light green baggy cloak she'd been wearing since Dante's Abyss.

"Holy cheese n' crackers, we're so high up!" The bunny was saying. Blink glanced over with her green eyes to see the excited furball standing up her tippy toes to get a look out of the window. The quinjet was just starting to move over the water, away from the tower, as  the girl named Judy Hopps watched with big excited eyes. "This ocean is almost as big as my farm!" She looked over her shoulder at the pink teleporter as she spoke. Claire smiled back at her, feeling it was rude not to. "Isn't it awesome?"

"It is pretty awesome," Blink agreed, standing up to take a look herself. "Can you see that high?" She had a little chuckle under her breath as she pictured that  view from the other side of the window - anyone looking in would be able to see Judy's long ears.

The cheerful demeanor of Officer Hopps faded a bit as she took the short joke on the chin. "I can see fine, thank-you-very-much!" She jumped up to briefly see the view through the annoyingly high port hole, but then dropped down dejectedly as she realized she was indeed too tiny to really see the view in all of it's glory.

"Oh..." Blink began, realizing what her humor had caused. "I didn't mean to make you feel bad. I'm sorry." She had genuinely been asking if the bunny could see, but had instead insulted a girl that right now was one of her allies. "Look, I can help you. Check this out." The teleporter created two small pink orbs of energy into her palms and transferred to the space in front of Judy. They formed two portals: one was right in front of Judy, on the wall under the window, and the other was right above her, facing outwards. Now, Judy Hopps could see out of the window through the portal right in front of her.

"Ohhhhhhh wowie!" Judy said, as excited as she was the first time she glanced at the tall window. The view was even cooler now, as the Quinjet was buzzing swiftly over the water and islands underneath it at a high speed. For a moment, Blink observed the silence from the little bunny cop, as she was lost in the view right in front of her. Then, Judy looked over her shoulder again and smiled a big toothy grin. "Thanks!"

"Ms. Ferguson, a moment?" Blink glanced over to see Vision standing next to Captain America at the helm of the Quinjet. She turned to say goodbye to Judy, but the young police officer was back to watching the ocean fly in front of her through the portal-window.

"What's up?" She asked as she approached the duo.

"I am about to depart for my part in the mission," Vision was explaining. "I will disable the security system and you will be able to teleport the group in, undetected."

Blink nodded, though inwardly for was kind of annoyed. She wasn't much for stealth, and this sounded pretty boring. Not to mention she was being used for her ability again, instead of as a full part of the team. Even though it was completely justified and understandable, she still hated feeling like the 'getaway car,' constantly shuffling people around. "When will we know when you're ready?" She asked, keeping her inner complaints in check.

"I'll give the word," Rogers said aloud, joining into the conversation. "I'll be leading the ground team."

"Says who?" Claire challenged.

"Excuse me?" Asked the Captain.

"For now, let us trust in each other and the roles we've set forth," Vision interjected, obviously sensing the brief tension. Blink fumed inwardly for a moment. Captain America or not, she had just as much leadership ability as anyone in the jet. "Then, once the hostages are safe, we can discuss roles in the future. Is that satisfactory?"

Blink chewed the inside of her lip as she nodded, though clearly didn't like how that conversation went. Once again, she did the opposite of what she wanted to do, and just agreed with them. She could feel the eyes of Captain Rogers on her as she moved back to the aft part of the Quinjet, clearly now wary of her. Even Judy (who was no longer looking at the view and had listened to the talk) and Hal Jordan from his quiet seat on the starboard side, was staring at her.

"I will see you all on the other side," Vision said, and then disappeared. He phased through the deck of the jet, and down towards the island underneath them. That was when Blink realized they must have been over their destination.

She quickly rose again, this time looking out of the starboard window. Sure enough, they were over a large island with an omnious-looking runway connecting a couple small buildings to a beach. She surmised that this underground bunker was likely right under those buildings. It looked easy enough to get in and out. She had actually promised Vision she could get the group underground, but she had embellished the  truth: she wouldn't be able to portal anywhere she hadn't been. So she'd have to get to the buildings first.

The idea of waiting to be told when to go started to seem less and less appealing. She could only see two armed men down at the end of the runway, near the buildings. It was be so easy to teleport down, take out those two knuckleheads, and break the hostages out quick and painless.

She noticed that Judy was talking to Rogers about her part of the plan now, but the man known as the Green Lantern was looking at her. "What?" She asked, kind of annoyed at his rude staring.

"You're in deep thought," Hal said to her. He wasn't wrong. "What are you about to do?"

Claire backed up from the window. Judy Hopps and Steve Rogers were looking at her now, having heard what Hal said to her. "I'm going down there. I don't need any help. There's only two of 'em."

"What? Are you crazy?" Judy asked, wide-eyed again.

"Blink, don't-" Captain America was saying.

She didn't hear the last part because she dropped a pink portal right underneath her and disappeared into it. If they wanted to follow, they would need to utilize the teleport-scar that was left rather quickly, or else there only down would be to land or parachute.

On the side of the portal, Blink dropped onto the ground right in front of the entrance to the larger of the two buildings. She spun around, looking for the two guards she'd seen earlier.

She found them. The two blonde humans in pinstripe suits were standing in front of her. One of them had a long rifle-looking weapon with a thin barrel. It only took a moment, but a sharp dart was shot from the tip and landed right into the normally much-faster Blink's shoulder. She took a moment of pause to reflect on her terrible decision-making, and then fell to one knee.

One of the guards (the one without the gun) held up his radio. "Tell Carlton that we got an intruder."

"We know already!" Came the voice on the other side of the gadget. "Someone just disabled our security!"

Blink wasn't sure what annoyed her most. The fact that Vision's plan was working and she just screwed it up, or the fact that...no, never mind. That was one what annoyed her the most. She knew that the second she succumbed to the tranquilizer and her head hit the pavement underneath her.

"What? Are you crazy?!" Hopps exclaimed, eyes widening as she realized that this could destroy the plan. The Captain also caught on, she supposed, because he spoke up directly after her. But it was too late, Blink was gone. The three remaining Avengers all glanced at each other. This wasn't good. Judy tapped the earpiece given to her by the Vision before they left on the mission, turning on the microphone.

"Vision, this is Hopps. Blink bailed on us, and I'm getting no signal from her earpiece. We may be compromised. Over."

An exasperated, synthetic sigh sounded from the other end of the line. "Right. We need to rescue her, above all else."

"I can go. Cap and Hal can get the Pokemon." Judy took a quick glance at Rogers, almost as if asking if her plan was okay. He simply nodded.

"That is logical. You'd be small enough to get past the guards without too much fault." A quick moment of silence. "There are parachutes near the bay door."

Hopps simply smiled. "I don't need one. Blink left a bit behind."

She ended the conversation with a sigh. "You heard him, guys. Go get 'em."

---

Note to self, teleporting is hard on the stomach, the rabbit thought, taking a deep breath to calm her innards. She'd made it onto the island with relative ease, thanks to the bit of portal Blink left behind when she abandoned the plan. Now, she just had to figure out where the mutant was.

"Over there! Another one!" Judy's ears swiveled over to the source of the voice, a group of three soldiers coming straight toward her. She cracked her knuckles, then began running.

"Come on, it's getting away!" another voice roared, and a shot went off, missing Hopps by a foot. The gunman cursed loudly, grabbing another dart for the tranquilizer. The rabbit turned toward the soldiers while they were distracted with reloading, pulling her own gun out of its holster. She let a shot off, intentionally missing the group. It was a scare tactic, really. And it worked, at least long enough for her to get up close. She jumped over the soldiers, using one of their heads as a stepping stone, before landing behind and kicking the second. He fell into the third, knocking him over as well. While the guards were tangled in their heap, Judy made her escape, dashing towards the door inside that Vision mentioned.

"Hopps reporting. I could really use that door open right now."

"I'm almost done now. Are Captain Rogers and the Green Lantern in the building?" At this, Judy took a look skyward. No Quinjet.

"I'm assuming they are. I don't see the jet anywhere."

"Good. The door should be opening-" A loud clank brought her attention to an open door. "-right about now."

"Alright, thanks." Judy, well, hopped into the opening quietly, landing in an empty supply room. She took a deep breath, beginning to investigate the room for openings. There was an air vent, that was... well, rather big. At least big enough to fit her.

She smiled.
