Character name:
Shen, (Former) Lord of Gongmen City
Character source:
Kung Fu Panda 2
Character history:
Born many years ago into the ruling peafowl family of Gongmen City- Shen's heritage being the primary factor in which defined his childhood; and his later misguided pursuits in life.
His family's lineage had spanned over countless ages: its right to rule founded upon their unmatched ability for governance and quick calculations- being drawn from generations past spent hoarding over the various discrepancies that went into the chemistry of crafting the highest caliber of fireworks.
The culmination of his family's endurance would be encapsulated within the Tower of the Sacred Flame- and that of the Palace he would spend the majority of his childhood within.
The Only son of two aging nobles- Shen was heavily adored and saturated with an assortments of luxuries- seen as a gift from beyond, as all children of the family were- for a lifetime well spent ruling fairly, bringing prosperity to the people of their sacred city.
While his youth was spent well relishing in the city and its people- as had his father and his father's father before him, his foremost concern had been for its people and their well-being.
With each raid on the outer walls of the city; riots, uprisings- threats of invasion: there would only ever be one response to such prevalent and terrifying threats- to seek a defense.
Despite his rationalization of doing it for the defense for the people- as all figures of authority eventually have: his true purpose for his rather intensive studies into furthering his family's uses of fireworks would come out of that of a fear of the very people he had grown around- who had, in essence: he had been raised by. This would lead to the eventual discovery the more volatile and destructive uses of the various reactive powders used within some of the most secretive stores of his family's most astounding firework displays.
For as fireworks had once served as a symbol for the peafowls' compassion and trust for their subjects- as would Shen's first cannons provide the perfect symbol of terror and paranoia- to secure his would-be reign from pretentious threats.
However, it would be that very same sneaking sense of distrust of his very subjects in which would cement the death of his reign before it would even begin. Concerned with their son's new-found interest in developing weapons of destruction- his parents, characterized, as their ancestors had been: by the spiritual aspects of the world- sought council in a trusted soothsayer. Having inherited a rather strong interest in the divine- Shen would take great care to hear of what fortune the soothsayer would have to tell of his future- disregarding any assortment of danger may come of it.
As he would hear of his destiny- he would hear of a great fleet of his own construction- a conquest ready and able to not only secure the greatness of Gongmen: but to conquer and establish a dynasty over the whole of China.
And that it would all be destroyed by a warrior of black and white- before it could sail from the harbor.
Shen became distraught as to what failure he would bring to his family, and as to what his parents would do in response to the prophecy- as to disown a son destined to bring travesty to the peafowl lineage. So he set out to rid the land of any and all who would dare challenge it- through the utter extermination of any and all who could fulfill the prophecy, so that he may defy a fate he feared- and to secure the love and life he still had.
By the end of his attempted extermination of any and all pandas within the known land- he would return home. His parents, upon hearing of their son's misdeeds- brought themselves to force him into exile, and to strip him of any and all inheritance that had been his birthright as their only child. Taking refuge into the mountains- Shen would gather his forces- his conviction only be driven further by his the sense of betrayal he felt from his own loving father and mother: who had eventually passed in due part to their grief over the separation from their son.
Shen pressed on still, in spite of everything he had lost: seeing his only chance at happiness now was that in which would be taken.
Returning to his ancestral home of Gongmen: he would overthrow the ruling Masters' Council, and install himself as acting ruler- taking little time in preparing his fleet for combat, before meeting his defeat, as was foretold: a panda of black and white, created from the very fear in which had plagued the peacock for his entire life- and eventually sealed his fate.
Having thought himself crushed beneath the weight of his former flagship's malformed cannon- Shen instead has found himself plunged into the Omniverse, confused and estranged from his surroundings- now doubtful with what is to be of his destiny.

Flight - 1800 om
A member of the peafowl family- Shen holds the ability to take flight- in spite of his rather cumbersome train of lengthy feathers. Self taught to utilize them to their fullest potential in flight- he is allowed various additional dimensions to his movements: in combat and out.
Master Acrobat -400 om
A youth spent in preparation for his reign of Gongmen City- Shen became well acquainted with several dozen of the training courses endured by his father's best warriors- as had his father trained alongside his own father's men. Shen's Guan Dao - 300 OM
Custom forged from some of china's finest metals- Shen's Guan Dao had once been that of his father's, and his father's father. A family heirloom in its prime- made and tempered in flame to assure the protection of its master's subjects. Shen had taken the blade to the province- wide genocide of the pandas as to match its life with that in which would be of his own reign. In the end, he only succeeded in desecrating it, and sealing the fate of the dynasty he obsessed over.
The Guan Dao- a quite lengthy pole weapon of about seven feet- a three foot blade perpendicular to a two foot wide crossguard from tip-to-tip of either side: leaving a four foot long shaft.
Seeing as the blade nearly spans the length of Shen's feathered train- it could be used with various techniques. Ranging from traditional spearing to the agile footwork, depending on the positioning of its owner's grip. In most of Shen's techniques- he will use the Guan Dao to redirect and parry his opponents' attacks- as well as allowing for him to better receive them with a far more generous reach of his blade in close-quarters combat. Often times, he will not only utilize the blade for deterring and delivering strikes- but to better position himself. Seeing their rather light and fragile body structures as peafowl- his family ability to balance upon it- and in turn, pole-vault while in the midst of combat: has been long taught across his lineage- and has become a rather signature move of a peafowl combatant's dexterity on the battlefield.
Iron Talons-300 OM
When he was but a boy, Shen dreamed of being able to experiment with fireworks the way his ancestors had- driven by his curiosity and wish for a great legacy- he had pleaded with his father for a personal laboratory for his own testing. Through relentless begging of both his mother and father, he was finally allowed his dream to be realized: to personally formulate and construct the fireworks in which would be used to please the people of his city. However- as he would begin to test with bigger, more volatile explosions- so would he learn firsthand of the rather terrible potential the chemistry of such reactions held in secret. For as he prepared for his sixteenth new year celebration- so too would he have the mark burned into his talons. While they eventually healed- he would no longer hold the ability to feel his legs to the same degree he used to. Discouraged to continue experimenting at first- it would be at the encouragement of his childhood nanny- the very same soothsayer who would later predict the very fortune that would dictate the course of his very destiny- that would convince him to continue his work- to make himself the best he could be, but most of all: to find happiness.
Such brought upon the invention of the Iron Talons. While at first being a simple device made by Shen to recognize when his feet would hit the ground- over time, he would slowly develop them into weapons to be utilized in combat- and eventually as a means to light the fuses of his great cannons.
For both grappling and repelling strikes- the talons are of a tempered iron forge- great for receiving and dealing hits without doing much damage. While making stealth relatively impossible- the claws in which guide the Peacock’s feet would eventually turn into tools of intimidation- hidden under the veil of his elegant silken robes: they could intimidate even the most level-headed of enemies.
While they could be used in a raking motion- they are well capable of being able to enhance any movements or attacks the Peafowl could typically make with his talons.
Each tipped to a fined perfection- with the inner most claws on both feet being lined with a razor sharp blade- both used for lethal intent and the lighting of his precious inventions. Each metal talon is six inches long- with the blade itself extending the inner most talon to about eleven inches- providing quite the instrument to aid Shen end his enemies.
