Seeing Double: Madotsuki and Chara vs Sans and Yukki
#1
Most people wouldn’t think much of two girls exploring the Ashen Steppes; they’d probably assume them to be lost, or maybe just exploring. If you’d met them in person, however, you most likely wouldn’t live to make any assumptions—especially if you had an item of interest.

The particular to items of interest at the moment were Star Pieces. The red one, to be exact, which just so happened to be within the very same realm the duo called a home. Tucked away behind a distant mountain was a craggy house made out of magma that had long since cooled. This was little more than camouflage, however, since the inside turned out to be oddly normal. A shag carpet covered a wooden floor, alongside a plush couch, a wooden coffee table, and various throw pillows. A set of stairs led up to the bedroom, and a few other doors led to the bathroom and kitchen. A flat screen TV occupied the majority of one wall, and a Wii U console rested underneath. The Base’s vault was hidden in darkness behind said console.

Madotsuki knelt down and gently handled the artifact in awe, admiring the faint, colored pulses that emanated from inside the almost-star shaped object. One of the points was broken off, and she and Chara were going to fix it. Gingerly, she lowered the magic rock back into the vault and locked it up tight. She turned to face Chara from across the coffee table, who was digging through her bag on the couch. The dreamer’s bag rested on the table, and she took the chance to review her inventory: her knife, which had helped her through thick and thin (despite using it so often, the knife gleamed as if it were brand new. Chara had explained that leaving bloodstains on the knife was bad for its condition, so Madotsuki had taken to shining it after each fight); her diary, which also served as a weapon if she focused on it; about a week’s worth of traveling supplies and cookies (what? She had a sweet tooth); and some tiki mask she lifted of a Prime they recently destroyed, although she had yet to figure out how it worked.

Closing the bag, she slung it over her shoulder and glanced down at Chara. It was a lot easier to look down at the megalomaniac when she was sitting down, since despite the six-year age difference, Madotsuki only stood about half-a-head taller otherwise. She pointed at Chara, then at the door, asking if she was ready. The determination-incarnate looked up and nodded with that too-wide-for-her-face grin that was always plastered on her face. “I’m always ready, Mado,” she said, hoisting her own bag up.

The dreamer had to raise an eyebrow at that statement, especially due to that one incident at the Frozen Fields when they found the Blue Star Piece and forgot to bring a container to keep the cold in. Thankfully, it stopped radiating cold the moment they entered the Nexus, but they had to handle it the entire way back. She had wanted to bring the moment up, but considering Chara’s volatile disposition, she chose not to speak up.

Instead, she walked over to the door and gestured for Chara to follow. Madotsuki reached out to open the door, but paused suddenly. There were footsteps outside. The nightterror backed up and withdrew her knife, staring down the door as if a picture of her worst enemy was pasted to it. Every muscle in her body tensed as she waited for something to happen.

For a few moments, nothing happened. Both girls stood in silence, far too concerned about what could possibly be walking towards the door to their abode than to worry about anything else. The pink-shirted girl with the checkerboard rectangle on her shirt stood a few feet away from the door, pointing her knife straight at it with clenched hands. The green-shirted girl remained silent, a wicked grin on her face as she drew her own weapon: an eight inch, seemingly brand new chef’s knife. The pair remained still, waiting.

Then, in the span of about two seconds, there were three knocks on the door. The knocks echoed around the house before everything went silent again.

The children looked at each other, unsure as to how to respond to the situation. On one hand, whoever was outside could have had something they needed, in which case it would’ve been stupid not to open the door and see what they wanted. At least, it wouldn’t have been stupid if they could kill whoever it was without much trouble. On the other hand, though, it was equally possible it was just somebody passing through, and they didn’t want to ruin their facade when they were so close to their objective.

They turned their heads back to the door, three more knocks pounding out from it; whoever was outside desperately wanted their attention.

The pink-shirted girl glided cautiously towards the door, the raps ceasing as she drew near. She reached out towards the doorknob, her entire body tense. She grabbed onto the knob, shifting it around before pulling it towards her.

The succulent smell of freshly baked pizza filled her nostrils as she stared at the two visitors.

Their visitors were complete opposites in terms of overall description. To her left was a tall man whose hands held a clipboard, though what the clipboard held was a mystery to her. The man was around six feet tall and had pale skin that meshed surprisingly well with the white and red-striped polo shirt and pants he wore. On his head, covering his hair, was a red hat with white words that said “Friskie’s.”

To her right was a short man. The short man’s face was completely covered by the lid of the pizza box in his arms. He wore a long-sleeved shirt that matched colors with his partner while his hands were concealed by oven mitts meant for pulling meals out of stoves.

Madotsuki started to close the door, clearly suspicious of their motives. The taller man shot his hand forward, keeping the door still as he began to speak.

Sorry, uh… we, uh… we’re the pizza guys,” he said, looking down at the girl, we, um… got a call to deliver pizza for, uh…”

The tall man reached down into his pocket, frowning when he found nothing. He gestured towards his companion, whom twisted his hips to let him reach towards his pockets. The girl noticed that, despite the rather uncomfortable position he was in at that moment, he never revealed his face to them.

The six-foot tall pizza guy knelt down, reaching into his partner’s pockets. He pulled out a slip of paper, standing up as he read it aloud.

Pizza delivery for… Madotsuki and… Chara?” He said, the shorter pizza guy simultaneously twisting the pizza box around way faster than he probably needed to. Inside the box was, true to their word, freshly baked pizza with mushrooms, pepperoni, and sausage. All sliced into thick, juicy chunks of meat and cheese. It looked good enough to make her mouth drool. As much as she wanted to just take the pizza, however, she knew better than to fall for it. She was fairly certain there weren’t any pizza places in the Ashen Steppes, or if there was, they hadn’t ordered any from them. Unless Chara did? She was just a kid… a dangerous, way too knowledgeable on the topic of knives kinda kid, but still a kid.

She turned her head towards Chara, who was holding her hands behind her back. Madotsuki opened her mouth to speak.

The tiny man tossed the pizza box directly into her face. Her tongue tasted the deliciousness of Friskie’s pizza as both visitors sprinted past her.

“well, that wasn’t the best pizza delivery I’ve ever done. i guess there’s…” said the shorter man, leaping on top of the coffee table, “mushroom for improvement?”

He chuckled, his face no longer concealed, revealing one that was completely skeletal and with glowing white dots in the middle of his eye-holes. He kept a perpetual grin, holding his Friskie’s hat as his partner brandished a pistol, aiming it at the gem-thieving children. The green-shirted girl swiftly revealed her blade, staring directly at the skeleton.

As Chara saw the Pizza men she thought this was oddly strange that pizza men would be hear and, they didn't order a pizza recently, the name was one that they never heard, and also one looked slightly familiar to a certain skeleton she liked to call Smiley trash bag. Then she saw the Shorter one throw the pizza at Madotsuki then she saw Sans and some lackey with him and she had a feeling what they were after. Then she saw Sans get on there coffee table and said well, that wasn’t the best pizza delivery I’ve ever done. i guess there’s…”, “mushroom for improvement?”

She looked at sans with her annoyed face which was not a pure smile but more of a jagged smile and said *Well, well it looks like Sans has decided to pay me a visit, Well if he didn't listen to the last time I beat him, and his group, he would know he cant beat me.* She then pulls out her knife as Madotsuki pulled the pizza off her face Chara says with her true voice*Well I guess Sans the dirty brother killer wants to learn a lesson about this world and others, It's Kill or be killed.* Sans then looking at her said something she knew from Experience "You want to have a bad time, you demon spawn?" then she decided to reply with "Oh I am going to have a great time because I know every attack of yours and more."
Then she runs towards Sans while being stoic saying *When where you the one in control?*

Yukki stood still with his pistol trained on Madotsuki's chest while the two chatted. He examined the girl in front of him, who seemed to be a little stunned that a pizza had hit her face. He felt a little sad for ruining a perfectly good pizza, but how else would they get this close? Chara pulled out her knife and ran at Sans, but he didn't move, trusting Sans to take care of himself. The last thing he wanted to do was to let one enemy do whatever she wanted without being accounted for. He walked towards her slowly, with a smile on his face. He stopped about a yard away from her. "No one has to get hurt here." He gave a slight chuckle. "We could all just walk away from this unharmed." He stopped smiling suddenly and gave her a serious look.

"But that's not going to happen, even if you wanted to."

The dreamer glowered at the two men. She had been expecting something like a group of lost Gorons, or maybe a group of bounty hunters sent to capture the two girls for a hefty prize. But instead, she was now face-to-face with a pair of pizza delivery men. …Were there pizza places in the Ashen Steppes? She couldn’t recall any; and besides, she never even ordered a pizza in the first place. Then again, she didn’t account for Chara. She never really understood that girl. If anyone here had ordered a pizza, it was her.

Madotsuki turned to question the megalomaniac, but couldn’t get a single word out before the shorter guy tossed the pizza pie towards her face. It made contact, and the nightterror scrambled to rip the pizza off of her before the steamy, melted cheese left some unsightly burn marks on her face. Ever been hit in the face with a fresh-out-of-the-oven pizza? It isn’t a very pleasant experience. She finally ripped the food away from her, blinking away tears due to the heat.

She didn’t need to be a rocket scientist to see that the situation had escalated. Chara and the skeleton she had called Sans (that probably explained the oven mitts—being a living bag of bones meant you attracted a lot of attention) were duking it out near the door; Chara was fighting the only way she knew how: by stabbing and slashing. Sans, on the other hand, summoned waves upon waves of femur bones to deter her attacks. By the time she plowed through all the blockades, the skeleton had vanished, only to reappear behind her and launch more bones. She spun around, trying to reflect the projectiles, but she hadn’t been quick enough to block the one heading for her face. The blow knocked her backwards a bit, but the only thing that attack seemed to do was aggravate the megalomanic even further. She raced towards Sans, who ducked away. “You’re still as weak as ever~” she jeered, backing up as Sans shot bones out the ground to impale her.

Madotsuki had wanted to help, but she was distinctly aware of the man training a gun on her. Sure, she was fast, but not fast enough to dodge bullets. She wasn’t sure what the weapon shot, but if it was lasers, her next move would’ve screwed her over; she closed her eyes and focused, feeling herself detach from this plane of existence. The tall man (who was most definitely human) opened fire as the dreamer rushed behind the sofa. A few shots in, and the guy realized that his shots were merely passing through her. As soon as she was out of the man’s line of sight, she phased back into existence. Several bones suddenly impaled the couch, shooting stuffing everywhere. Another one shattered the TV, sending sparks crackling into the air.

After taking a moment, she withdrew her knife and rolled into view, launching several crescents toward him. The man stumbled backwards and shot at her, grazing her shoulder but not hitting anything important. Gritting her teeth, she pulled out the diary and closed the distance between her and the human as quickly as she could. As soon as she got up in his face, she opened the diary open and a giant, purplish fist shot out between the pages and connected with the man’s torso knocking him into the wall with a satisfying cracking noise.

The dreamer phased out again, her blood pumping with primal adrenaline, but she didn’t have much time to celebrate before the guy called out to Sans. A bone passed through her, then she heard something forming behind her. Spinning around, she found herself staring into the dead eyes of a giant goat’s skull. Its jaws opened wide and its mouth began to glow. Great, from the looks of it, this was some sort of laser. As awesome as breaking away from the world was, it did nothing to stop lasers or anything else energy-based. Returning to normal, she dodged just in time before the laser activated. Even though she hadn’t been caught in the blast, the heat around it strangled the air around it and all but obliterated the couch. White fuzz was absolutely everywhere, as if this brawl was little more than a pillow fight gone wrong.

More shots echoed throughout the room—probably the man trying to shoot her through the fuzz floating in the air. Despite the odds, a bullet found its target. The nightterror struggled not to scream as pain rocketed through her right leg. Thankfully, it didn’t hit any major blood vessels, although the pain alone would make it a little tricky for her to move.

I've actually decided to step out of my comfort zone a bit and do the battles like they usually do them here.

The skeleton took the brief moment he had to unbutton his shirt, looking out from behind the obliterated couch and into the fuzzy abyss. He removed his shirt, revealing a white turtleneck as well as a blue winter jacket. A cool breeze flew through his bones, cooling him off just a tiny bit. He probably shouldn’t have worn winter clothing underneath his disguise when the two thieving miscreants were living in a land of heat and lava, but that thought hadn’t crossed his mind up until that moment. Besides, his focus had to be on the battle, and as far as the battle was concerned, he was worried.

He wasn’t worried about dying. He knew they were going to die, despite what he had told his partner. He wasn’t even worried about fighting the same person whom had indirectly sent him here in the first place.

What worried him so was the house itself. It was too small for a fight..

He looked through the gaping, scorched hole his blaster had created, seeing the stuffing had dissipated. His partner, Yukki, was taking on both of the girls. His gunshots reverberated around the house as he shot towards the green-shirted girl, who suddenly began to spasm. Just as the bullets hit, she faded from existence, reappearing in front of the sofa.

Sans stood still, his glowing eyes as small as pinpricks. He blinked, trying to determine if he had imagined the whole maneuver. Had the kid learned to TELEPORT?! If so, he NEEDED to get everyone out of the house. He could move fast, but in no way was he going to beat teleportation in a foot race.

Without a moment to spare, he thrust his hand towards the destroyed TV. He then called out to Yukki, who thankfully got the idea just as the skeletal monster launched the blue TV towards the two girls. The pink-shirted girl managed to get out of the way, diving towards the skeleton’s partner, while the green-shirted megalomaniac wasn’t as lucky. As she tried to dodge, the TV smacked her across her back, sending a wave of pain through her as it flew to the kitchen, smacking into the wall before collapsing to the ground.

The psychopath glanced towards the smiling undead, hate in her eyes as she stood up. Her grip on her knife was tight, her knuckles white from the pressure she applied to it. She yearned to use it on this old nemesis of hers. Forget the Star Pieces. She would be a happy camper once she felt the sweet sound of broken bones and a crying skeleton at her mercy.

On that note, she charged forward, ignoring the dull throb in her back as she followed her nemesis to the coffee table that he stood on. The skeleton launched bone after bone at her, several missing their target while others connected. The ones that connected, though, did little more than provide a bigger challenge for her to reach him. She liked that about him; how much of a challenge he was, even though it was still annoying.

She felt one bone pierce her lower torso as she leapt up onto the coffee table, slashing her chef’s knife towards the skeleton. He smartly leaned back, the knife sailing past him as he stepped back towards the end of the table. Chara pulled out the bone spear in her stomach, grunting in pain as she ran forward again. She unleashed a flurry of stabs and slashes, nearly nicking the comedian a few times. Despite her speed, though, she could not land a solid hit.

What she did instead, however, was continue. She pressed the assault, slowly moving him off of the table and towards the wall. She smiled the most unnerving smile the undead monster had ever seen, her eyes as red as blood.

The comedic undead monster kept his hands in his pockets, sidestepping and leaning back every time the knife was swung in his direction. He wasn’t stupid, though. If this was any other universe, then he wouldn’t have had to worry so much about moving around since they relied on a turn-based combat scenario.

But it wasn’t like that here. Here, there were no “turns.” It was win or lose, and no one wanted to lose.

He felt sweat form on his bony forehead as he planted his back on the wall. The megalomaniac noticed his eyes darting around, as if looking for a way out.

Whatever. It was time she finished this.

Just as she raised her knife, however, she noticed her form had turned completely blue. With a look of shock on her face, she saw his hand pointed towards the door where the others fought, as well as a glowing yellow eye in his socket.

Chara was getting annoyed with Sans messing around when she saw him put out his hand and his eye turned yellow that was when she knew he wanted to get this fight out of the house and just before she got flung out the door she yelled to Madotsuki to get out of the way and she nodded and ran to the kitchen for a special surprise Chara has stored for this fight, then she felt her self being flung but she knew what was going to happen she would be bashed around till sans threw her out of the house and the smashing commenced and she felt after the attack a few broken ribs but nothing major was broken thank god but she decided to act while he was still in the house Madotsuki threw the bag with her surprise in it. when Sans came out he said "Well I see you can teleport now," that was when she knew this was not her sans she fought and she then knew how much of a upper hand she had "I never thought you would get this dangerous" she then turned to him and said "Well I have a few words to say, I am not the newest human, I am the First one," Sans looked like he saw a ghost and backed up slowly "Also I have a surprise for you." and then she grabbed her actual knife and rushed to Sans.

"Oh you could have saved your brother but you were too lazy to do so." and she turned her knife a blood red and fired her slashes sans eye grew into a pinprick and tried dodging but was a little fast and dodged Charas attack after the dust settled she looked around for her but could tell she was right behind him and fired his bones at her she "glitched" out of there and said "Well, let me tell you how I came here, well you worked with Flowey to stop me from getting Frisk's Determination and you failed so you left to get W.D. Gaster to help you and got Omega Flowey also to help but you all failed to stop me and Frisk gave her soul to Flowey also to create Asriel Dremurr to stop me and I was teleported here." and she ran back to her bag and pulled a red scarf she had taken from Papyrus's body just incase.

Yukki watched as Madotsuki threw a bad to Chara, not really caring hat as in it or hat Chara did with it. He slowly backed out of the house towards here Sans and Chara were, Firing slowly at Madotsuki to get her to follow him. He turned and saw Chara pull a scarf out of the bag, and shrugged to himself before opening fire on Madotsuki again. Why as she so hard to hit? Curse her and her ability to seemingly dodge every attack.

Yukki laughed to himself as he continued firing. He couldn't tell if his shots were hitting, only that he couldn't let up the pace for a moment, because to let up meant to lose. He could almost feel himself losing some of his sanity. Something about the pressure he was under was doing strange things to his ability to think.

A bright, blue light caught the dreamer's notice. Daring to peek out from the table she swiftly set up as an impromptu shield, she saw that the TV was encased in an azure glow. Now, she couldn't see either of her foes from this angle, but it probably meant something bad. Ditching the blockade, she rolled towards Yukki, the TV flying past where she stood mere moments before. She skipped towards the thief before he had time to shoot, intent on staying within melee range; it didn't seem like the man had any other weapons.

She swung at him, but the man backed up against the wall and dodged. Slinking towards him again, she reached for her diary. But before she could use the tattered book, the sound of Chara crying out in pain grabbed her attention involuntarily. She glanced away, trying to see what she and Sans were doing. She caught the skeleton tossing Chara out the doorway using whatever move he did to throw the TV, but couldn't see anything else before something rammed her in the back and forced her away from the wall with a powerful push. Yukki had probably kicked her, but it did little aside from giving him some distance.

Since she had few options, the nightterror phased out again. It seemed like the guy couldn't really do anything to her while in this form, and from the sound of Yukki shouting curses at her, he probably knew that too. But she couldn't do anything either. Now the fight between the two was in a stalemate. Her form began to flicker. What could she do? She couldn't stay like this forever!

From outside, Chara yelled out for Madotsuki to grab her bag from the kitchen. The kitchen? Why would it be there? But it was indeed sitting on the kitchen table when she looked. She was curious as to how it ended up there, but she decided that there were more important matters to attend to, like the fact that Chara and Sans were fighting outside. She floated behind the table, phased in, and grabbed the bag as Yukki gave chase.

If the pain in her leg hadn't have acted up, she would've phased out and gotten to the brawl before the gunman could reach her. But it did, and she struggled to move away before another bullet grazed her torso. Now her leg was starting to go numb and stiff, like it had been frozen. Thankfully, she managed to phase out and pass through the wall with the bag. She almost collapsed, phasing back in as she threw the bag at the eight-year-old (who was now sporting an awful-looking gash in her torso). Chara snatched it out of the air and withdrew a red scarf from it.

The megalomanic presented the fabric to the undead monster, who flinched upon seeing it under the pressure of the girl's constant taunting. A pit started to form in Madotsuki's stomach as she watched the scene while on her knees, although she wasn't sure whether it was from exhaustion or... regret. Here was Chara, once again proving that she was little more than a monster. Mado didn't like to be reminded of this fact. Chara was the only friend she had left; they had done plenty of cruel things, enough that the dreamer couldn't go back to her old life even if she wanted to. It was Chara's way or the highway.

She didn't want to be alone again. She couldn't. Not after all they've been through.

With renewed energy, she rose up to her feet and held out her hand. A writhing, purple mass began to form in her palm. She directed her thoughts, her emotions, her entire being into a single point-- all the frustration, anger, confusion and regret coalescing into a visible form. Just before the chaos felt like it would explode, she thrust her hand out further, sending the energy towards the distracted Sans with extreme prejudice.

The undead skeleton stared at the crimson fabric held in the hand of the murderous child. That was the only thing that made any sense to him at that moment. What she had said before was incomprehensible. What in the world was Omega Flowey? W.D Gaster? He racked his brain for a few moments, trying to think under the pressure of the malevolent kid’s taunting.

Just then, it hit him. Quite literally, in fact, as the demonic, purplish energy column smacked him right in the stomach.

A blood-red, syrupy substance exploded from his midsection as he flew to the side, landing on his bleeding front a fair distance away. His glowing pupils turned into little pinpricks as a wave of pain coursed through his body. It took all of his self-control not to cry out as he moved his hand to his stomach, holding his inner fluids in as best as he could even as shredded pieces of bone seeped out.

But he could handle that. He could handle physical pain. Sticks and stones could break his bones…

But what people say, and what they would do to others he loved…

He laid there, his fluids spilling out all over an unknown land of blackened magma and volcanoes. He never thought that was how he’d go, honestly. But of course, you could never account for a human with a penchant for murder coming over and screwing things up for everyone, could you? You could never account for them coming in and killing everyone you ever loved or cared about, completely okay with the knowledge that they could get away with it. They had no responsibilities; they all went away as soon as they went back to do it all over again. And he was the only one that ever figured it out. The only one that had ever known what was going on.

And he had been too lazy to tell anyone. He could’ve saved them, couldn’t he? If he had just told one person, just one, what was going on, maybe they would’ve believed him. Maybe they would have all hid away, maybe they would have all stood back and watched. Maybe they would have all fought the human! But he couldn’t be sure of that, could he? They would’ve thought he was crazy. It made no sense that their lives were determined by the higher power slaughtering every single one of them. That was absurd!

But it was the truth! he screamed internally, Please! You have to believe me! For our sakes…

A huge feeling of complete and utter regret flooded his very form; he struggled not to cry as he continued thinking. He was lazy, he knew, but it was because he had no choice in the matter. It was either stand by and watch and pray that the human didn’t kill everyone they met, or get himself killed stopping them. He had no choice! Anyone who would’ve known or understood would’ve agreed with him! He was at their mercy!

So then why was this thing; this murderous, psychopathic monster affecting him so much?

His eyes widened as a thought struck his mind, and he felt tears form in his eyes. She was right, wasn’t she? About all of it. He could’ve done more, but he didn’t because he really was just that lazy. He had no excuse; not even the fact he knew about the changing timelines made a difference. He could’ve saved more people, or attacked her sooner, or done SOMETHING more than just stand back and let himself be tortured. But that was exactly what he did, and the kid knew that.

Did it make him feel good, knowing that because of him, hundreds were dead? And yet he was the one to get off scot free with a new life. Lucky him, huh?

He lowered his head to the earth, tears slowly streaming down his undead face as he laid there, ready for the wind to rise to take his life essence away.

----------------------

Good… he’s dead… the megalomaniac thought, seeing Sans’ head slump to the ashened ground. It had taken him longer than she had originally believed he was capable of, but it was well worth seeing the variety of emotions he could inflect without so much as a frown.

She turned around, knife in hand as she stared at their last remaining opponent. He tightly gripped the gun in his hand, alternating it between the two children as they closed in on him. Sweat flowed down his cheek as he desperately began to fire, well aware of how outnumbered he was.

Unbeknownst to all, though, the undead skeleton laid in silence, watching the whole event with pitch-black eye sockets. Watching… waiting for an opportunity...
