If you want a definite answer I recommend waiting for a higher-up, but: opening the Black Gate would require you to open a portal to the Underverse, something that no player character currently has enough OM for - there's no precise number or level mentioned, it was simply said that the above is currently the case.

Do keep in mind that the gate was closed by a group of high-level NPC Primes and required the sacrifice of a powerful Prime to lock himself to the Underverse. If you had the resources and attempted to open the Black Gate, that would pit most of the Omniverse against you, including the Empire and the Kingdom who would not want Diablo to come back. Also, Diablo himself (who's considered as being the strongest Prime in the Omniverse) is probably unable to open the Black Gate as he would likely have done so long ago if he could.

In short, it's pretty much impossible to open the Black Gate.

EDIT: Just to be clear, nobody's stopping you from trying to open the Black Gate, which could make for an interesting story. But you aren't going to succeed.

If you make a new post or edit one, in your bar above the textbox there's (from left to right): font changes, alignment, font name/size/color, then "insert a horizontal rule" and finally (you want this one) "insert an image" which lets you insert it from a URL. You can upload the images to imgur or similar and paste the URL of them into the box, it will add the picture in for you.

Carmelita's stealthing but she still set off Imperial gate intruder alarms. The question is what, if any, bounty could be gleaned from the Imperial investigation.

You'll most likely get a bounty if you kill storm troopers or cause trouble in Coruscant. You probably didn't even need to stealth through the gate in the first place, considering you're a new prime and haven't done anything against the Empire (yet).

Hmmm. Are completing faction quests with Prime NPC's taboo?

I wouldn't think so, how else are you supposed to have your NPC characters join up with a faction?

No, Normal Transformations cannot rearrange stats. Powered up forms, however, can. The closest thing to being able to rearrange stats in a normal transformation would be This

I've been thinking about interacting with not-yet existent secondaries from other source material. I am aware that making them yourself is not on the cards, but for roles that might not suit a random secondary, or for source material that has other PC characters in play, what is the protocol if any?

Examples:
If I wanted to talk to a climatologist, and don't have one in my source material, I might want to use Mei from Overwatch. Would that be the staff's prerogative?
If I wanted to interact with Sgt Murphy from the Dresden Files, would I ask Dresden's player for help?

You're not allowed to get "unique" secondaries from other verses, taking Mei from "Overwatch" from your example. For generic characters like say, a Goomba from Mario, you can ask - no guarantee that you'll get approved but there's a chance.
There's a workaround, you could call it, in that you can ask someone to get a Secondary (or NPC Prime) from their verse for you to interact with, or even play as. If someone whose character is from "Overwatch" is around they could submit Mei and allow you to play as her.

I would like to start a quest (Frozen Fields) but I already have an ongoing thread there. Would it be sufficient if I post a quoted notification of the quest starting into my first quest post, instead of making a new "Quest"-tagged thread?

That would be perfectly sufficient. Just be sure to link to the first quest post in the thread when you hand it in for approval.

In order to update my Prime NPC's roster with a few extra moves, I would put them into the move thread, get them approved, and then ask a staffer to edit the post, or would instead, I do the above, but then quote the roster with the update on the next post?

Do you need to buy NPC communicators/mobile dataverse devices with Omnilium or can we handwave that if we've paid for our own?

Gildarts: In the past people have just resubmitted a new sheet to the NPC thread, so unless someone says otherwise I'd say that's the way to go.

Carmelita: NPC Primes would need it in their sheet when approved since we level-cap those and there's actual OM counted. If it's a secondary you can just handwave it.

I am wishing to fight Chara as she has killed a Stormtrooper and is escaping. I'm on the same verse and have a communicator as well as being an ally with the EPD. So now for my question.

Do I have to post an OOC challenge still? Chara is well aware of the fight and we have been talking back and forth about how to initiate this. I've never been in one and I've read the rules for fighting several times but I don't think I'm grasping how to initiate this.

As it states in the 'Initiating Fights' rules, if you are within the same verse or near a gate leading to the verse, you may post an official challenge within 72 OOC hours of the event in question. If you don't do so, then Chara is considered 'low profile' and you'll have to spend time trying to track her down.

So, I'm just wondering.

If a secondary uses a VR station to enter the Dataverse, would they respawn when they die, or not? The rules kinda never said whether the "you'll just respawn elsewhere in the Dataverse" thing applies to secondaries or not.
