March Monthly Accolades (Until April 11th)
#1
As spring finally blooms, we celebrate the changing of seasons with another edition of the Accolades!

For those of you who are unaware, the Accolades involve nominating (and later, voting for) those who have outdone themselves in a particular area each month. For variety's sake, the categories for each month may be different.

You have until April 4th to nominate your choices. After that, we will proceed to the voting phase where members will vote among the two individuals with the most nominations for each category. The only exception is if someone manages to get 5+ more nominations than the runner-up, in which case that person becomes the winner by default.

If you wish to participate, think of who stood out the most in a particular category this month and post your choice, along with a 2-3 sentence long explanation, in this thread. You are not barred from nominating your own characters/threads, nor do you have to fill out all the categories.

The winners will become this month's "Community Stars" and will receive a blue user title in recognition of their achievement.

And now, this month's categories are:

‘Best’ Character – Which character has you engaged the most?

‘Best’ Writer – Which writer wowed you the most?

Most Helpful – A staffer or a member who gave you amazing feedback on a story or was simply there to help you sort out some of your problems.

Rising Star – Which up-and-coming member stands at the crème of the crop? (must have joined within the last month and a half or have less than 8000 OM)

'Best' Story – What story did you find most riveting/entertaining?

'Best' Monologue – Many characters have rich and vibrant internal lives, filled with thoughts and conflicts that they either express internally or externally. Some of those are deep and profound, others not quite as much. But whatever the case may be, which character had the most interesting or offbeat mentations? Please note that, in spite of the name, you are not limited to examples where a character's thoughts are expressed in the form of (internal) dialogue — any depiction of a character pondering something will do.

'Best' NPC – What non-player character (can be a site, personal, or story NPC) entertained you the most (for whatever reason). Please note who the 'owner' of said NPC is, just in case I am not familiar with them.

Purple Ribbon - Consider this a bonus category for nominating someone who, while they may not be the best and have all the twitter followers, you believe deserves to be recognized for what they bring the the Omniverse. (The winner must be a DIFFERENT person than last month's winner)

‘Best’ CharacterDean Winchester. It's always been really fun to write with Dean! He's such a volatile, awesome character, and there's an amazing writer behind all that. I'm looking forward to each and every one of his posts, believe me.

‘Best’ WriterOkor. He just writes so well. It's like reading poetry, but without all the questioning and all of the smooth appreciation for his particular writing style and voice. There are expertly-worded details and a whole line-up of phenomenal phrases in his work-- Okor has a very remarkable gift when it comes to wordsmithery, and I'm very glad that I am able to read the fruits of his efforts.

Most HelpfulDark Link is always waaaay helpful and comes up with answers to even the most puzzling of questions.

Rising StarLoki. I'm already super hype to see whatever Link/Loki has planned only one Nexus post in, no joke.

'Best' StoryOne of the Men. I've enjoyed this story very much so far, it's been going on for a while! I'm curious to see how it will finish, and the characters have a nice camaraderie going that is entertaining to read.

'Best' Monologue – Nealaphh. This post was especially awesome to read, even though most of Nealaphh's stuff is really something else. Morally ambivalent characters are so difficult to pull off well for me, and in most of the stories I have read the writers only go in for an outsider's perspective when trying to convey something like that, so that post was just all kinds of impressive.

'Best' NPCTom Riddle's Tilly. House-elves, my one true weakness. Adorable.

Purple Ribbon - Thaal Sinestro. Sinestro is the true #1 MVP, helping me out with the expedition thread even while he's busy curb-stomping people in the Nexus.

‘Best’ Character
1st Place: Ezrihel. Even after a short read on only a couple of threads, I'm genuinely interested as to who this person is. Why does she have this weird god complex? What is with her and her philosophy that rational thought is more important than emotion? Does she literally have Demetri under some kind of love spell? I have no idea, and I want to see where she goes with this.

2nd Place: Link. His interpretation of the character is amazing, and I like seeing how he handles the situations he gets involved in. Also, what I like most about him is his relationship with Navi, which is heartwarming in my opinion. I definitely want to see more of that in the future.

3rd Place: 00 (Fink) This fish, bird, shapeshifting guy is freaking interesting and a joy to read about. I normally wouldn't expect much from a concept like that, but he has enough zaniness and he is executed well enough to make me believe there's more to this character than he lets on. I'm eager to see what the writer does with him next.

‘Best’ Writer
1st Place: Okor. He has very good descriptions that I dream of producing, with colorful word usage and vivid imagery. In my opinion, his writing is solid enough that he could be able to go up against Sinestro if he wanted to. That's not an easy feat, to say the least.

Rising Star
1st Place: Mettaton. It could just be my Undertale bias, but I genuinely think this guy will go on to do great things. His posts capture Mettaton's personality perfectly, and are generally well-written. Plus, I like his interpretation of Mettaton's history.

'Best' Monologue –
1st Place: (http://omniverse-rpg.com/showthread.php?...7#pid66827) Harbinger. It's short and simple, but I just love how it reveals the motivations of the four fused individuals. It also serves to make this Harbinger guy more interesting rather than just a generic Doctor Doom.

2nd Place: (http://omniverse-rpg.com/showthread.php?...8#pid65648) Yu Kanda. It's there for about a second, but it did what it was supposed to: Serve as a rallying cry for the others to take out this Harbinger. It definitely sounds like something I'd hear any wartime general trying to motivate his men say.

'Best' NPC
1st Place: Abner White, written by Zack Fair. While the thread in question is only a single post, I think I have a sense as to who he is based off of very little. His bravery for essentially standing up to people who questioned him and could easily kill him if they wanted to. His snarkery, his comradery. Plus, he's hilarious most of the time.

Purple Ribbon -
1st Place: Belle. I think she's heavily underrated as a writer and as a storyteller on this site. Her Midnight Rose thread is supremely polished and detailed, and it's obvious there is real talent behind the author. I just wish he's more active xD.

‘Best’ Character – Gamzee, because: "And you know what happens next? The bitch starts to monologue! Like seriously? Really? While the glowing teenager is just suspended in air by the face? How motherfucking rude. This isn’t Hamlet. Something about power, something about death and destruction and existential crisis yadda yadda yadda, Gamzio really could give less of a shit, ..."

‘Best’ Writer – Would yall be mad if I nominated the mothafuckin wicked clown prince again? Gamzee, because: "This motherfucker is still in a soliloquy."

Also, Ballad, I can just feel the environment when he writes. I can almost see his character's reaction to things, and I want to know what happens to him next, which is something I feel the need to know when I read things written by Gamzee(sorry man).

Most Helpful – Demetri, because good lord he deals with me on skype so much and answers my questions with patience while I bother the shit out of him to post.

'Best' Monologue – Gamzee, because: "However, shit hits the whirling device. Sounds of a rather brutal scuffle are accompanied by the cacophonous sound of a GIANT FUCKING ASSHOLE invites him to walk away from the kneeling pawn. That scum, the flaming skeleton dude. He is the giant fucking asshole. The giant, flaming asshole."

So yeah, Gamzee makes me laugh so hard in every single post of his. Just how he phrases things in general and I can just forget that it isn't andrew hussie writing all the lines for this guy. I mean, seriously, I forget that this is someone's attempt at RPing Gamzee as a character on an RP site every time I sit down and read stuff from him, and that Nexus Battle thread has been a fun read. It's a great break when everyone else(myself included), has some stoic serious ass characters who are constantly trying to be deeper than a Christopher Nolan film and more badass than James Bond.

'Best' NPC – IRIS by Demetri, because I've been having to RP with this snarky sassy ass little trick since I came back, and I love how much of a little shit she can be at times when Ezzy and Demetri are flirtingtalking.

‘Best’ CharacterSmith. He just plays the character so well. Hearing the Hugo Weaving deadpan in my head while reading his posts is really fun. I eagerly await the beginnings of his faction =O

‘Best’ WriterStrazio Rockwell. Across the like 5 threads in which he’s currently writing, he’s just consistently great.

Most HelpfulJade Harley has really made an impression on me. She’s super super nice and helpful to anyone who asks and has been putting in a good amount MORE work since staffdom. She deserves this.

Rising StarRed Hood. He and Thor have been tearing it up nonstop since he joined and it’s been a fun read. I especially admire his eagerness to write and get involved. (Note: he JUST went over 8000 OM with the voting bonus so hopefully he’s still eligible)

'Best' StoryAndroid Seventeen’s Two Koopas, One Shell. This is largely biased and somewhat due to A17 hypetrain/nostalgia, but that doesn’t make it any less true. I mean, c’mon. Mario Kart in the Steppes? Yes.

'Best' MonologueGamzio Motherfucking Rockara. (the bit below is specifically by Gamz if I have to choose a single person)

“Yaknow, motherfucker, I kinda like you. Rough around the edges, like me. Us. But, you kinda got us messed up. A hero stands up for justice; not himself. A hero thinks of saving others; not destroying them. A hero is motivated by justice. A hero plays fair. We ain't no motherfucking hero, ill-blooded motherfucker. Now, one thing we are? One thing we most definitely motherfucking are? We are higher than you, brother."

Ragemage don’t give a single motherfuck.

'Best' NPC – I’ll fill this one in later.

Purple Ribbon - Tartaros. Just an all-around swell guy, a positive presence, and great to see in chat.

Best Character: TBA

Best Writer: Okor. Not gonna lie, the dude kinda flew under my radar until we started beating each other senselessly in the Nexus brawl. But like, I noticed real quick the amount of talent he possesses. His posts actually made me go back and research the character, so i can understand more about him. Shit is lit.

Most Helpful: Strazio Rockwell has helped me grow as a writer over these past couple of months, and i feel like dedicating some love to him. Writing with him in the Nexus Brawl has really challenged me just to keep up, and I have boundless respect for him.

Rising Star: TBA

Best Story: TBA

Best Monologue: God Okor's words are shweet.

”Everyone thinks they’re the… Hero, don’t they?”

”You all think this is about you. That your… hatreds matter more than others, that your rage burns brighter than any other. That standing up to us makes you champions, figures of... Legend.” A snort of laughter broke the solemnity, the warrior no longer able to contain his mirth. ”I know I am but a pawn, a game piece of the gods. In the end, I’m nothing more than a… corpse, yet to drop.”

Omnillium turned into rusted iron, a wickedly twisted blade scything towards the paused Strazio, a throat-tearing motion used upon battlefields and altars over the aeons.

”Pawn takes king.”

Best NPC: Even so long after the saga, i still want to keep up with Abner. He's a cool guy. Zack Fair has this stormtrooper on lockdown.

Purple Ribbon: TARTAR SAUCE! No really, tartaros is a great brah and it's always pleasant when i get to speak to him. PLEASANTLY RANDOM.

My apologies for letting this languish, the past few days have been a bit hectic for me. In any case, time to cast those votes! We have a fair few ties to settle. Due to my late response, voting will last until April 11th.

You may vote even if you hadn't made any nominations. If you have and a nominee you put forth is in the run-offs, you don't have to cast your vote for that specific category (unless you wish to cast your vote for the opponent instead); your nomination will automatically count as a vote for the nominee.

‘Best’ Character: Dean Winchester or Ezrihel or Gamzee Makara or Smith
Most Helpful: Dark Link or Demetri or Jade Harley or Strazio Rockwell
Rising Star: Loki or Mettaton or Red Hood
'Best' Story: 'One of the Men'  or 'Two Koopas, One Shell'

‘Best’ Writer: Okor
'Best' Monologue: Gamzee Makara
'Best' NPC: Abner White (Zack Fair)
Purple Ribbon: Tartaros

Vote for Best character definitely goes to Gamzee (and Strazio) for their multi thread team up, internal struggle, and GAMZIO FUCKING ROCKARA

‘Best’ Character: Gamzee
Most Helpful:Jade Harley

Due to the fact I'm in the next 2 nominations I don't feel comfortable voting on those. Good luck!

‘Best’ Character: Smith

You've really nailed down the character's mannerisms and actually he seems a lot more compelling in the Omniverse than he did back home. It'll be fun to watch you explore this character and inevitably to have to murder you for getting in my way.

Most Helpful: Dark Link

Yer a goddamn wizard. You're omnipresent and always working for the Omniverse in some way. If we could afford to pay people you should be a fuckin VP. Thanks for all of your help - and that goes to everyone nominated (and many who weren't): it's people like you that make this place worth being a part of.

Rising Star: I'm afraid I haven't read enough to make a determination. Sorry.

'Best' Story: Same as 'Rising Star' D:

Okay, first off, If I end up getting Best Character, I'd like to if possible just say that it goes to Gamzio as a whole; i.e. share the accolade with Strazio since it was a joint fusion. If that is at all possible, i mean. That being said, my vote for best character goes to Deeeeaaaannn. I've only watched like three or four episodes of supernatural and Dean still cracks my shit up.

Most Helpful: Strazio, because same reasons as before duh

Rising Star: I'm with Magus on this one. Sorry guys, but with all the CHAOS REIGNING in the Nexus, all of my focus in that particular verse was, well, you get the idea.

Best Story: One of the Men was pleasantly entertaining. Sweet moments, Hellish moments, the works.

And finally, after some delays, we have our March winners! Since Gamzee gained the most votes, as per his request, the Best Character category is awarded to both him and Strazio.

Also, the Most Helpful category was technically a tie between Jade and myself. However, I do not wish to pester the community for tiebreaker votes for a single category. Furthermore, although I am deeply thankful to both Jade and Magus for their nomination and votes, I have not been particularly active as some of the other staff members in recent times. Thus I do not feel that I am worthy of recognition in this particular instance. As such, I've decided to be the arbiter in this matter and award the category to Jade.

‘Best’ Character: Gamzio Rockara (Gamzee Makara & Strazio Rockwell)
‘Best’ Writer: Okor
Most Helpful: Jade Harley
Rising Star: Mettaton
'Best' Story: 'One of the Men' by Thor, Red-Hood and Darth Revan
'Best' Monologue: Gamzee Makara
'Best' NPC: Abner White (Zack Fair)
Purple Ribbon: Tartaros

Congratulations! You are all our March Community Stars!
