Nexus Battle Royale — Threat Elimination Protocol (PvP)
#1
Sasuke Uchiha stepped out of the Fountain, glad to be done with that ordeal. Glad that it was over. Victor and Orihime followed.

The sentiment lasted about two seconds.

"Mister Uchiha," greeted Smith. "I was beginning to think you wouldn't turn up."
#2
“I was beginning to think you wouldn’t show up,” Agent Smith said, his voice taught and tempered.

The Harbinger slowly turned its head, curling their skeletal fingers into a fist. “Mm,” it growled, “the coward finally arrives.” Their voices mingled with tones of anger, revulsion, and excitement.

Sasuke stepped forward, his eyebrows furrowed with anger, “What is thi-“

The air itself split when the Harbinger moved, thunder echoing into the endless alabaster skies. Before he even knew what was upon him, the boy felt the unearthly strength of a hand upon his neck, and he was lifted from his feet. Sasuke’s stared into the emptiness of the creature’s eyes, and the burning abyss of its sockets stared back into him. He opened his mouth to speak, but only managed a pained gurgle.

Harbinger gently shook its head in disappointment, and the chorus sang out with singular assuredness.

“Pathetic.”

In a single, fluid motion, Harbinger twisted on its toes and swung the boy over its shoulder slamming him into the firm tile with a stomach-turning SLAP. The power of the throw actually caused the ninja to bounce back up into the air, and in the instant that he hung there, the conflagrated gestalt hammered him in the chest with a bone-shattering punch.

Sasuke flew through the air for what seemed like forever, tumbling too fast and with too much force to right himself. When he finally met with the ground, the child’s body seemed little more than a ragdoll as it skipped like a stone over a lake, his arms helplessly flopping with each impact. After a lengthy roll, he slid to a stop and gently nudged the tip of Mr. Smith’s polished shoe.

The program’s eyebrow perked up over the rim of his sunglasses, and he slowly lifted his head to the burning monstrosity. “Very… interesting.”

Yu Kanda’s eyes narrowed and he scowled at his ally. “Interesting?” he spat. “Whatever qualms you have with that child come second to,” he angrily thrust his finger at the Harbinger, “that.” Without wasting another moment on words, the exorcist drew his blade.

“Come on!” the bold warrior shouted, holding his weapon in front on himself, “Show me what you’ve got!”

Harbinger’s attention shifted slightly, and its aura warped into a pure, golden light. Though the voices spoke together, Sinestro’s rang out louder than the others. ”Quaint.” The Harbinger held its hand out in front of itself, and the swirling energies that surrounded it condensed. A scythe, wicked in shape and intention, took shape. It was over six feet long, constructed of a translucent yellow light. “Now move aside.”

Yu’s eyes only narrowed in defiance.

Cackling, Harbinger’s tint shifted to a deep purple, along with the weapon. “So be it.”

The clang of steel rang out and a shockwave exploded out in every direction. Kanda’s feet slid backwards over the ground, his hands numb from the might of the blow that he had barely managed to intercept. Before he could even recover his footing, the creature was already behind him. A foot stomped him into the ground with the force of a safe falling out of the sky, his ribs crackling beneath the boney toes of the apocalyptic entity.

Twisting his heel back and forth into the man’s spine, the monster laughed cruelly. ”Anyone else?” it taunted.

“Maybe one more,” a voice called from the crowd. A spikey-haired blonde stepped out of the crowd, a trio of goat skulls floating around him.

A red-haired woman stepped out of the gate, her determined eyes locked on the battered Sasuke who lay before her one-time ally, Smith. There was no need for her to speak; everyone already understood where her alliances were drawn.

Harbinger laughed, its deep voice resonating ominously. “And we suppose that…” Its arm whipped out and snatched an invisible form, revealing a brown-haired man as he cried out in agony. “… You stand against us also, Victor?” The Harbinger tilted him back in forth in its hand, squeezing him like a toy, relishing in his yowls of suffering.

The smoke that trailed from its eyes surged as the heat within intensified. “Very well.”

The amalgam lifted its foot from Yu Kanda’s back, watching him with a cruel and distant interest, like a child staring at an anthill, a magnifying glass waiting in their pocket.

As soon as the warrior had caught a breath of air, the Harbinger slammed Victor down into him, their heads knocking together as they were clobbered into the unyielding tile below. A long tendril of hard-light wrapped around them both and constricted down, carrying both men up off of the ground and to Harbinger’s side.

The bark of gunfire filled the air as Jupiter fired his pistol. Sparks flew off of the Harbinger’s blackened bones, though it seemed hardly to notice. The man reloaded and continued his attack even as the creature began to walk in his direction. Fragments of lead danced off of the monster’s burning skull as it plod towards him, unphased.

Jupiter’s brow furrowed, and he slowly began to back away, his arcane weapons spreading out around his target. Soon, sporadic laser blasts were crisscrossing the battlefield; each finding their target as the Harbinger casually strode onwards.

Grunting in frustration, the young man stuffed his firearm into its holster, and placed his hand on the red-leather handle of his sword. “You want a fight?” he roared, defying the growing fear in his gut, “I’ll give you one!”

He drew his blade and charged, brandishing the weapon overhead. With all the force in his body the warrior swung, and struck true. Harbinger’s body was nudged back slightly as the sword skittered over its bones, leaving nothing more than the faintest of scratches in its wake. Jupiter’s eyes went wide, his mind finally giving way to the terror that had been clawing at the inside of his chest.

In an instant, the Harbinger plucked the sword from Jupiter’s hand, spun it around, and drove it through the top of the man’s foot and into the ground. As he opened his mouth to scream, a backhand lashed his head to the side. His anchored foot didn’t allow his body to lift off the ground and so he pivoted, head bouncing like rubber.

Using the hard-light lasso, Harbinger thrashed the other two men down into Jupiter’s groaning mass, the growing pile of victims turning the white floor red. Tearing the sword from Jupiter’s foot, the creature stepped to the side, and wound its leg backwards. All of them saw the kick coming, but could do nothing to stop it.

Orihime’s eyes opened wide, and she threw her hand forward, a massive, pillowy shield forming in front of her. The three men collided with it and it instantly collapsed, the group tumbling atop her.

A horrible fountain of souls poured from the Harbinger’s mouth, and a shrieking wind howled out in all directions. Dark incantations were uttered in the shadows of the Harbinger’s illuminated body, and arcane symbols materialized midair.

”Now,” the Harbinger rumbled, ”be gone.”

With a wretched shredding sound, a hole in reality was torn open atop the pile of the Harbinger’s enemies, and they were drawn towards it.

The heavens above Kanda ripped apart and revealed nothing but an surreal eclipse, a vast nothingness of black.  Quickly realizing the danger he was in he forced his sword into the ground below him, hoping it would allow him to withstand the gravitational pull of the black hole. He never stood a chance. Just as a spring leaf ripped from its tree Kanda lost his grip, sending his body flying upwards towards the rapture, disappearing into the Sky.

The following moments he could only remember as darkness with his body being torn apart. Feeling the sins burning within his soul, finding its way out. The brave warrior attempted to scream, yet the darkness around him swallowed any noise that was born from within. The heat was all around him, the excruciating sensation of affliction was unbearable. Kanda has never felt this helpless before. Submerged in darkness, he was indeed in hell. Where was the innocence? Where was God's protection? Slipping out of consciousness the boy had one line going through his mind that helped him hold on through this ordeal.

'Joy to the just to do judgement: but destruction to the workers of iniquity.'

The exorcists body was smoldering. It was laying face down on the nexus floor, his uniform torn, burned and only covering parts of his body. A muscle twitched in his arm as he regained consciousness, "Ugh" forcing himself to get up he felt the burning sensation all over his body, his ribs were hurting and his skin felt as if it was on fire, yet he refused to give the creature the satisfaction of seeing him suffer.

" My, you survived, I did not expect you to stand after that." The fiend casually spoke.

Kanda's stomach turned, he sensed the vile energy that was emitted from Harbringer's body. The aura he witnessed gave him the coldest shiver down his spine. He had no choice but to stand his ground, he picked up his sword ‘Mugen’, activating it in silence of prayer within himself. He finished his preparation by triggering his second illusion form, creating a second sword of energy in his left hand. There was but one chance if he was to survive and perhaps even win this ordeal.

The battle worn warrior turned to the other primes. Some of them were flabbergasted by what they witnessed. None of them had ever seen what they observed here today.

With a strong voice Kanda addressed the group from a distance pointing his innocence covered sword towards them, "What are you doing? Are you not primes?! Weren't YOU taken here by Omni as well?! Isn't this world your home now?!" He shouted towards them as his eyes jumped from between them, "Your home is currently under attack by this...abomination, this..freak show of primes. A vile horror created solely through hate and greed for power.  You've all witnessed it's destructive power just now, can you really stand idly by as this beast runs rampage? Don't you have any pride or honor within you?! Stand by me and lets bury this monster once and for all. Together we stand, or divided we will fall."

The exorcist turned around and faced the deadly creature once more.Behind him, Colonel showed a quick smirk, something seemed to have reached the robot's circuits, in a positive way. The blonde-haired companion of Ryner couldn't hold back and joined the cause, without a second thought she pulled her sword and rushed towards her impending doom with an heroic battle-shout. Without breaking a sweat, he collided with the young prime, grabbing her by her neck, applying just enough pressure to snap it like a toothpick. "Insect," its loud voice rumbled and she was thrown back to the group ragtag primes. The mighty Ryner fell to his knees as the lifeless body of his companion came to a stop in front of him.

The Harbringer looked amused, "No matter how many insects you manage to gather, you will never have even the slightest chance of winning against a god of souls, a Harbringer of death."

Kanda held both his swords up, the pain and despair was clearly heard in the cut of his voice, "You are not God, let me show you God's power, filthy demon."

A small pulse of energy was emitted from the blue haired warrior for an instant before, at the touch of air, it seemed to fizzle out.

With that final challenge, as if the sun itself burst from the sky, a bright white-yellow orb descended from the white heavens above. Some of the gathered primes were unable to look directly at the divine orb as it made its way down towards the desperate but worthy exorcist. The Harbinger wasn't affected by the brightness of the sun-like ball of energy, it simply observed with interest. Kanda raised both of his swords towards the energy. This was it, the moment where he started the counterattack against evil. Even though his body was already in agony and rejected the idea of moving, his sense of purpose kept him standing upright. Kanda's weapons absorbed the profound energy of the sphere, both swords shook and could barely contain the raw power that they now held within. One last glance at his enemy, who did not seem to impressed, and he felt a transformative surge of power within him. The prime's stomach clutched in anticipation as he prepared to unleash the heavenly wrath.

"Take your wretched souls out of my sight and may god have mercy on them!" The exorcist shouted towards his foe, a moment before he thrusted both energy filled swords into the ground, taking a symbolic knee as he was doing so. The sound of thunder was heard when the energy coated weapons pierced the ground, sending off eight cracks of energy through the nexus floor. Almost as if Lightning itself was making its way towards the sickening being. Within a mere blink of an eye the energy reached Harbringer, shooting up pillars of pure white-yellow energy, surrounding Kanda's target.

"Oh, how exceptional." It replied, touching one of the bars with its boney finger. With a cracking noise of electricity he was forced to retract it the moment he touched it.

"Be gone from this world!" Kanda shouted as he gave the final command through his innocence. The pillars of hope moved in closer to the Harbringer. The exorcist was biting down hard on his teeth, having poured all the energy he could currently muster into this attack, he knew he had to make it count. This struggle to control the vast amount of energy as it conducted through his very bones, became visible in the convulsions of suffering that were written all over his face."From behind his prison bars Kanda heard the creature laugh. 'You won't be laughing long' Kanda thought.

The pillars shined brightly as they combined into one enormous beam of light, emerging from the ground shooting upwards, pulverizing anything in between. A sense of relief washed over the warrior as the ray of energy dispersed.  All that remained was a large curtain of smoke, spewing the fading remnants of his attack. Aching, he stood again, taking a fighting stance once more.

Quote:1200 words. Kanda used T2 Supermove heavenly wrath against harbringer. I have gotten permission from both Colonel and Ryner to use them the way i did in this story. 2 / 5 SP used

You're naive. We're destroyers, not saviors. - Yu Kanda
#4
The fury of heaven itself flowed from the sky, angelic power manifested in a coruscating beam of light, threatening to scorch the retinas of onlookers as The Harbinger vanished underneath  the ravages of rapture, the smallest of smiles forming on Kanda’s face.

It was all too quickly banished as the smoke cleared, the shimmering yellow energy cocooning the bringer of death slowly dissipating, the skull-faced slayer of worlds remaining unfazed by the assault, weapons materializing into its claws as it strode forward towards its sacrifices. His face a mask of grim determination, Yu was forced to ask himself how else things could go wrong.

The problem with such a question, is that there’s always an answer.

A snarl split both of Okor’s mouths, hungering teeth bared in anger, hungering tendrils eagerly seeping from his stomach, their barbed lengths seeking to entwine the Exorcist’s flesh, as he spat his hatred. ”Home? You would call this damned hell a home?” Caught off-guard by the assault, it was only Kanda’s nigh-supernatural skill which saved them from the worst of the Plague Marine’s terrors, silvered blade flashing again and again to sever the withered appendages. ”This is our… Prison.” Shredded, hollow skin flew through the air, the aegis of his blade seemingly defying the inevitability that was rot and corruption.

But of course, it takes but a single misstep to fall from the path of grace.

A tentacle wrapped around the Black Orderly’s ankle, wicked barbs sinking into his flesh as desiccated hands wrapped around its base and heaved, sending the warrior flying towards his tormentor. Their lithe form impacted on the nothingness of the nexus, bouncing off of the emptiness as their Katana sliced through the air, a hungering sprite spawning forth as he tore through the thin barrier between worlds that kept it contained to its own reality.

It quickly entangled itself in the gangrenous giant’s entrails, its fleshless form gnawing at desiccated innards as its master tumbled past the rotting hulk, verdigris-coated armour constraining pallid, leathery flesh. Cadaverous claws dipped inside his exposed abdominal cavity, dripping pestilence as he tore the unwelcome guest from his intestines, scraps from the hollow organs falling from its needle-sharp teeth.

”Vermin.” With a crack, the beast was crushed to powder in his gauntlet, bonemeal trickling down to the hollow floor as the battle raged behind them, the unearthly power of harbinger bringing ruin to the betrayers. ”How… appropriate.”

“How could you side with that… Demon?” Spat the holy avenger, pain suffusing his side, a gift from the massive marine that even now turned to face him, antiquated armour restricting his movements, every mechanical complaint it issued heralding the cyclopean eye that now fell upon the Exorcist.

Grating laughter came unbidden from the warped vox system of his helmet, a match to the shriek of steel on steel as he drew his blade. Sickness seeped from every syllable, the pestilence infusing his essence palpable. ”What is a Demon, but an Angel from… another angle?” The black-clad hunter surged forward, his skill and speed undeniable, even after Okor’s attentions. The Chosen’s rusted cleaver attempted to parry the strike, his sluggish speed denying him the opportunity as it bit into his throat, the tip of the blade slipping inside of his gorget and summoning forth a spray of translucent arterial blood as it ripped through his papery skin. It was a masterful blow, one that would have ended any mortal man, a slash that would have qualified for some kind of immortalization in art, the epitome of swordplay.

Unfortunately, Okor was no mortal man. Twinned hearts began to hammer in his decrepit chest, a toxic sludge of combat stimulants joining the tainted blood within his veins, a twisted, blackened grin forming beneath his helm, as his wound began to seal itself shut, flesh knitting itself back together with unholy speed.

He was Astartes. An Angel of Death.

A boney backhand merely grazed the samurai’s face, the dress-wearing demon-hunter struggling to bend out of his necrotic embrace, the plague marine roaring with laughter, coughs and wheezes failing to stop the near-deranged cackling, merely blending into the chorus of corruption. ”Are you afraid, traitor!?” Heavy with the weight of aeons, his blade was brought down in a scything arc, crashing against the Nexus surface as Kanda sidestepped his rightful end.

The Exorcist responded with a blow of his own, his sword slicing through Okor’s papery husk and mummified flesh, the hardened bones beneath denying him as he parted the champion’s flesh. Through gritted teeth, they spoke as a helmet slowly swivelled, turning its baleful gaze upon them. “You heard that… thing. It will destroy this world. Everything that’s been built, everything we’ve all worked for, will be consumed in hellfire!” It ended on a scream, a desperate plea of a man unable to see the truth before his eyes.

Outstretched arms greeted him, writhing maggots filling his wound, vomiting foulness to repair his battered body. ”You still don’t get it, do you? This is not a… home, not a second chance. This is our prison.” The twisted tip of his rusted blade rose, pointing itself at the harbinger as it roared its hatred of the world, threatening to deafen the combatants. ”And that will break our chains.”

“Are you insane? That demon will kill us all!” They shouted, struggling to comprehend the twisted viewpoint of his opponent.

”How naive are you, to believe that Angels are saviours, rather than destroyers?” Came the words, sickly sweet with cancerous corruption. ”How many lies must your gods tell you to get you to bloody your hands?” He laughed as their blades clashed, the Exorcist little more than a blur as they surged forward in rage, their anger driving them to recklessness, the katana crashing down again and again on rusted metal, each blow knocking a new jagged edge into its length.

A twist of his blade, and Kanda’s katana found itself caught in the notched blade, a bare claw placing itself over it, holding it in place as pale blood seeped from his nigh-immediate attempt to free it. The marine leaned in, foetid breath fouling the air as he spoke. ”This is the truth. There is no redemption here, no righteousness… There is but retribution and death. All of your falsehoods have been flayed away, and the bones of your god lie in front of you, demanding to be anointed with blood.” With a heave, the blades were wrested from their hands, clattering against the void as Okor drew his bolter, its hungering maw facing down Kanda.

”But my God is hungrier, coward. Taste of his gifts, before the end.”

One second, Gamzee is sprinting wildly off towards the fountain. Then, the motherfucker blinks. And THEN a boy’s body is flying straight for his face, like a cruel fastball aimed by a pitcher with a grudge. Oh shit, oh shit, it’s totally about to smack him in the face, Gamz is about to get body-to-face slapped he-

Oh, wait, nope. Heheh. The clown was still a ways away from the kid’s body, which bounces like an orange bouncing sphere across a pearly white orange bouncing sphere playing area.

Man. Gamzee hasn’t played orange bouncing sphere in about a forever.

The troll slows down as he comes up on the crumpled up form of of the boy in blue. And white. This guy’s color scheme was a little weird. ‘Course, this motherfucker is one to talk. Er, think. Comment? Silently? Whatever. Now is not the time to have an existential debate on his inner thoughts.

For whatever reason, Gamzee is suddenly infatuated with this pale, unconscious motherfucker. Not...in a heart-y way. Just a mild interest, per se. In a moment’s thought, the clown’s juggling pins materialize in a rainbow sparkle, right into the teen’s hands. He twirls them around with lazy abandon before taking a few tentative steps forward. Ever so carefully, the Ambrosian brushes aside the luscious black locks drooping in the boy’s oddly attractive features. Then, he bops the sleeping dude on the forehead. Getting down on his hands and knees, he grabs a pale earlobe and holds the fighter’s ear wiiiiiide open.

“HEEEEEELLLLOoOoOoOoO?”

Nah. This brah is way, way gone. Someone flipped this one’s off switch.

Should he leave him here? The clown’s clubs disappear in a similar sparkly fashion as before. Grabbing him by the wrist, Mister Makara slings the sleepy head up and over his shoulders, limp sack of potatoes he was. He didn’t even know this kid’s name. Nah. Better not leave’em here.

At a brisk jog, the Capricorn carries his new bro towards what looks like a weeeeeiiiirrrd paaarrr-taaaaaayy. He ain’t even close enough to see facial features, but Gamzee is getting some weird ass vibes from a couple of these motherfuckers.

And it’s not the good kind of weird.

---

“HEEEEEEEY! YOOOOOO!”

*wheeze* *huff*

Gamzee is wheezing hella hard. This motherfucker across his shoulders is just dead weight right now. He gave up jogging as soon as he got in earshot, and just began a calm little stroll towards uh…

Whatever the hell this is. They were still kinda far away, but the Clown can see some giant hulking flamey dude, some other motherfuckers that don’t look like they’s doing so hot, a hunk of metal person with a biznasty sword, and uh-

Honestly, he can’t even begin to describe his thoughts on this current situation. There’s a bunch of flashy light thingies, a crazy looking motherfucker tryna kill another motherfucker that is probably just as out of his mind, and just all kinds of metaphorical venom floating around in the air. This place is not chill. No. The source of this not chill is arguably the big dude that happens to be on fire and doesn't even seem to care one bit about it. It hurts to think about his thoughts, the ones specifically pertaining to said situation. A pain, all up and biting at his ass, that’s what this is so far. Upon finding the far flung body, Gamzee totally forgot why in the hell he even chose to come towards all these ‘splosions.

“DOES THIS SPIKEY HAIRED MOTHERFUCKER ON MY BACK, uh,” Deep breaths Gamzee. C’mon. You can do it, “Whoo...BELONG TO ANY OF YA’LL FLAMIN’ MOTHERFUCKERS?” He finishes, along with another gulp of air.

The spikey haired motherfucker in question begins to stir and mumble at all this commotion. Nothing coherent, at least, not that the hella troll’s ears could understand.

Man. Things are kind of all over the place now. The High-Blood is all kinds of confused. There’s way too much going on at this very moment in particular time, or somefin’. His head is spinning from all the explosions and cacophony of weirdness going on, and that is truly saying something.

But does all of this anger and bitterness stop Gamzee from bringing hot goods into the middle of it all? Do the explosions and swords and death threats keep him from being as chill as he possibly can?

Hell nah. He marches right towards the thick of it with a friendly, stupid, goofy grin, and  with a possible member of the Omniverse’s Most Wanted List across his shoulders.

That’s just how he operates.

The Harbinger’s blackened, skeletal silhouette flickered and glitched, partially tearing in and out of view, as though parts of it were being pulled back and forth between this existence and the next. It hobbled toward the petulant creature, swaying and shuffling like a toddler still learning to walk, coming just close enough for Gamzee to feel the heat from the flames that licked off of it. Even Okor seemed confused enough to hesitate for the moment.

Why, yes,” the towering inferno replied, the hue of its flames shifting to a pale green. “Thank you for returning him to us.

The Harbinger reached out his hand, and Gamzee reluctantly unshouldered his burden. “You’re… you’re not gonna do anything… like… I mean…” the pitiful horned creature scratched his head, stalling for time. The Harbinger growled its discontent. “All I mean is, y’all aren’t as evil as you look, right? You’re not gonna hurt this guy once I turn him over to you, right?”

We will make him…” the Harbinger paused, its green aura bleeding into red. “One with the air.

With a flurry of red, Gamzee found himself empty-handed, staring at the Harbinger, who now held Sasuke high in the air, its flaming palm wrapped around its victims face. The gestalt squeezed they boy’s head so hard, the grinding of bone upon bone and crunching of cartilage echoed through the air. In another instant, the heat of the Harbinger’s flames became that of a searing inferno as the Aspect of Hades unleashed Atelos’ Spartan Rage upon him.

“You said you’d make him one with the air!! The fuck is this shit!?” the newcomer protested, prompting Harbinger to turn its attention toward him. The flickering flames subsided, fading back to green.

Yes… We will make him one with the air,” the Harbinger agreed. “By vaporizing him.

A Flaming Skull detonated in the Harbinger’s palm and in Sasuke’s face, propelling the boy in a high arc through the air. He crashed into the white nothing of the tile, bouncing and skidding along it, a trail of scarlet smears and droplets charting his path.

The Harbinger strode toward Sasuke, hissing at Gamzee who shrewdly stepped just out of the way. The empty sockets of the Harbinger’s skull levelled themselves at the troll as the hue of its flames shifted to yellow. “You are… inconsequential. You may live, witness our gifts, for now. Interfere, and… suffer.

Unlike the troll, the burned samurai blocked the Harbinger’s path, flanked by a pair of… boys. None of them appeared to be in terribly great shape.

If this is all you can muster,” the Harbinger began, clenching its fists.

“The might of God is in my blade!!” the samurai interrupted. Rude. “You shall go no further, Demon!”

The might of your God is dust upon our heel,” the Harbinger retorted, before thrusting its fists forward. Two gleaming blasts of jaundiced energy lanced out, catching Yu in the chest and hurtling him backward through the Nexus’ dead air. Harbinger glanced at Okor, gesticulating to him with a nod.

The Fallen One turned and pursued the samurai, leaving the Harbinger with the remaining two insects.

Fires of yellow gave way to a deep purple as the Harbinger shuddered and glitched again, partially flickering in an out of existence.

“What I seek is thunder!!” the smaller pest shouted. If the Harbinger could have smirked, it would have. “Izuchi!!

A blast of lightning smashed into the Harbinger’s skull, eliciting… no reaction at all. A terrible chill ran down Ryner’s back as the absolute desolation of his situation began to set in.

Why do you oppose us?” the Harbinger inquired, taking a step forward, then suddenly blinking out of view entirely and appearing again, having closed half the distance between them. “We seek to free you from the shackles that the one who brought us here has placed upon us,” the Harbinger vanished again, blinking back in just before them. “We are the embodiment of progress. Would you truly seek to stand between us and your own destiny?

Twin peals of yellow energy blasted from Ryner’s fists, crashing harmlessly against the Harbinger’s ribs. The Aspect of Sinestro’s Hard Light Blast. Fascinating.

Harbinger raised its hand and loosed a blast of Gloom. The dark energy smashed into Ryner’s face, propelling him off his feet and onto his back.

That left one, a sword-wielding bug. Such resolve.

The Harbinger raised its right hand and flames coalesced there, the entirety of its burning aura shifting yellow and red. Soon, a spear materialized in its hand, but Harbinger wasn’t done.

It let go of the spear, which floated up over its head, suspended there. With a terrible roar, sudden streaks of green and purple pierced the red and yellow, and in one hand appeared the Aspect of Shang Tsung’s wicked sword, while in the other the Aspect of Magus’ scythe. All of the weapons were fabricated from hard light energy and fizzed with power.

You killed her!! You monster!

The boy called Ryner reappeared, armed with his own hard-light Jian, charging toward the flaming amalgamation. Just how these vermin plucking up the courage to face the Harbinger perplexed the beast. Almost angered by the disrespectful display of courage, the hovering spear flung itself toward Ryner, who dodged to the right, catching the hard light spear in the shoulder.

He cried out in pain as Jupiter attacked, only to find his strike parried with sword and countered with scythe. With a groan, he was disarmed and sent sprawling. The Harbinger dismissed its weapons unceremoniously and growled in discontent, its flaming aura quickening as he did.

An angry, purple conflagration flared up, blasting outward and consuming Ryner and Jupiter in a searing blaze. No sooner than the flames dissipated then yet another filthy creature materialized in front of Harbinger, swiping his daggers across the bones of its spine where its throat ought to have been.

Harbinger grasped Victor’s wrists tightly and hoisted him off his feet so that they might look into one another’s eyes – or lack thereof. “Why do you fight?” the Harbinger asked. Its tone was flat, almost clinical, and devoid of anger or accusation.

“You, you’re-” Victor groaned as he struggled, squirming like a worm upon a hook. The Harbinger watched him struggle, helpless. Victor planted his boots upon the monster’s ribs and used the leverage to kick it in the face.

The Harbinger’s aura shifted to yellow, and heavy chains bound Victor’s legs.

Why do you fight?” it asked again, more forcefully this time. Still, its quarry did nothing but struggle. Purple seeped into the flames and Victor felt himself growing weaker, frailer. Older.

Victor became shriveled, dessicated. He grew thin and grey, wrinkly and balding, riddled with disease, his dark hair now white as snow.

If you cannot so much as answer a direct question, what use have we for you in our New World?” the Harbinger spoke now with anger in his voice. It grasped Victor by the throat, and with a dramatic swipe of its arm, drove the old man head-first into the white floor of the Nexus with a harsh crunch.

Claptrap watched in awe as the Harbinger laid waste to their enemies.

"So, uh... Are we... Doing anything or..?" Claptrap wondered out loud as the Harbinger easily held it's own against everyone else. The small robot turned to Smith to look for guidance but found that the AI was not there.

"Huh." Claptrap said. "Well, I guess I'd better do something." The robot dashed towards the front lines and noticed that Ryner was fighting against the Harbinger.

"Hey!" Claptrap cried. "Not cool, man! I thought you were on our side!" The small, harmless looking robot quickly revealed how dangerous he could be by summoning a weapon. A digital, white-blue light shone in Claptrap's hands and quickly expanded. When the light had formed into the shape of a shotgun, it dispersed, revealing Claptrap's Hyperion shotgun. The small robot focused on the boys in front of him as he pumped the gun, trying to look badass.

"I do not like traitors." Claptrap said. "But then, who does?" He finished this thought with a potshot from his shotgun, intentionally hitting the floor. No one noticed the Nexus floor repair itself as the boys' eyes shot to the smoking barrel. A chuckle escaped Claptrap as he saw their shocked faces.

"You didn't take me seriously, did you? They never do." Claptrap said, almost sadly. "Now, let's do this." Claptrap pumped his shotgun again. Ryner shot a place at Claptrap, but returned his gaze to the Harbinger, obviously wanting to avenge the girl. Jupiter, however, turned to Claptrap, sword drawn.

"Let's go, you defunct toaster." The blonde said to Claptrap as he took on a fighting stance.

"Oh, uh, you actually want to fight me?" Claptrap said, his bravado gone. "I, uh, Okay?" Jupiter rushed towards Claptrap, swinging his sword. The robot let out a small yelp as he 'ducked' under the swing, falling on his face to avoid the blade. The robot rolled over and aimed a blast at Jupiter, who sidestepped the brunt of the shot, only taking a pellet in the shoulder. The boy pressed his attack, swinging multiple times at Claptrap who reversed as fast as he could. A goat's skull shot through the air at the robot and fired a beam which clipped the side of the robot.

"Hey! That's pretty cool." Claptrap said. "Computer, scan that goat skull." A freeze-frame of the goat skull appeared in Claptrap's vision. His internal computer ran half a dozen tests on the skull before a calm, female voice responded.

"Scan complete. Replication possible." Claptrap pumped his fist in joy before being hit with the hilt of Jupiter's blade.

"Oof!" The little robot exclaimed. "You think you're tough? Well what do you think of this?" Claptrap cried as he summoned in a replication of the gaster blaster, which took on the appearance of a silver goat skull. The skull flew through the air, before stopping suddenly. The skull's eyes flashed yellow after a few seconds and a beam shot from it's mouth. The boy had a look of anger on his face as he saw the gaster blasters bastardised by the robot. The laser lanced towards the boy who dodged to the side, avoiding the bulk of the shot but still taking a small hit to the side. Jupiter rushed towards Claptrap who was still concentrating from using the blaster, and kneed the small robot in the side. Claptrap skidded across the Nexus floor with a pained gasp.

"Ooooh god. Why did they give me the ability to feel pain?" Claptrap whined as he got up. Jupiter dashed towards Claptrap again, trying to hit his foe while he was down. Claptrap quickly brought up his shotgun and fired at Jupiter, who rolled to the side to dodge the shot. As the two skirmished, Claptrap pondered the question that the Harbinger had asked the boy which it was gripping in it's hand.

"Why am I fighting?" Claptrap wondered. He was in a strange place, fighting a bunch of weird, super powered people alongside a giant technicolour skeleton. What reason could he have for doing this? The robot knew the answer.

"Because right now, these guys are my only friends." The robot whispered as Jupiter swung his sword dangerously close to Claptrap. The robot stumbled backwards and fell on his back. Jupiter raised his sword above his head, preparing to swing down on the robot.

"Stick to cooking toast." Jupiter said, smirking slightly as he swung.

"I"m a door opening robot!" Claptrap cried, somewhat anticlimactically, as he brought up his shotgun, unloading his last shot into the boy's chest. Jupiter stumbled backwards as Claptrap began loading shells back into the gun. The boy swore as blood seeped from the spots where bullets had hit flesh.

"Haha! I did it! I hit him!" Claptrap cried as he began to dance, almost forgetting that he was in a fight. "Oh yeah, we're still fighting." The robot pumped his fully loaded shotgun one more time as he faced the boy down.

As the battle raged around him, Smith could do nothing but look on in awe. The destroyer... this Harbinger. It was terrifying in its beauty. It's... purpose. Ever since it had first been born, this thing had entranced the program. It was fascinating... the combination of those four worthless beings had created this engine of perfection.

The others who had joined Smith's call for action had quickly fractured and divided along lines drawn by the Harbinger's arrival. Mr. Kanda had stepped forward to fight against it, strangely finding himself among the ranks of its, and quite recently HIS, targets. And, perhaps in response to his little speech, others joined him against the creature. Still others had more... sense. They fought alongside the titan, attacking the traitors.

And through it all, Smith simply watched. He did what programs were best at. He gathered data. Back and forth the combatants leapt, and fought, and defended... and Smith cataloged it all. Every strength and weakness laid bare before him in the heat of battle, every quirk and motivation that drove the warriors onward.

It continued to perplex the ex-Agent how Mr. Kanda and the others could continue to press on against such insurmountable odds. Smith could read no flaw in its attack pattern and no weakness in its form. As he had initially surmised... it was perfect. Yet, even in the face of such inevitability, the samurai and his spur-of-the-moment allies... they looked on as though they believed they could win.

Such was the folly of humanity. The Harbinger's power was absolute. To stand in the face of that was to invite only death. Humanity was flawed in this way. For all their vaunted intellect, they were creatures of emotion and foolishness. It was at once their greatest strength and their greatest weakness. It was hope. Futile and worthless.

So no... Smith would not join these rebels in battling the beast. Nor would he join the Harbinger in its destruction. Of course not... why would he even need to? The powerhouse seemed to have everything quite nicely in hand, alongside the others who had remained true to their purpose. It was a far better use of Smith's time and energy to observe. And to wait. He yet harbored resentment towards those who had killed him in Teucer's little game. And though it seemed the Harbinger had dealt with them already, it was far from a forgone conclusion. He'd seen the tricks these humans were able to play, the petty slights and delusions which they thought to be clever. Until the ex-Agent was sure his targets had been eliminated, he would wait on.

And perhaps he could find a weakness in the Harbinger. True... it was powerful beyond measure. True, it was also his ally. But IF it had a weakness Smith could exploit.. then perhaps he had a chance to turn it to HIS purpose. Perhaps he could become the Harbinger himself and ring in a proper new “Age.” The Age of Nothing.

Chaos enveloped the alabaster walls of the Nexus. A god of war was made manifest, and those foolish enough to stand against it paid with Their flesh. Even still mortals dared to fight against this harbinger of their destruction. Flailing wildly against the inevitable conclusion, much like Icarus they spread their wings and dared to be burned. A gauntlet created from fire and fury burned into existence around Harbinger’s fist. The righteous warrior Kanda stood resolute before his opponent, spitting in the face of the godlike being. Harbinger lumbered forward and reeled its blazing gauntlet backwards. A visage of hunger, terror, ruin, and loss burned across the monster’s hollow skull.

“We shall bring your ruin,”  the many voices of Harbinger echoed upon themselves and threatened to tear apart the very fabric of the Omniverse.

The meteoric fist lurched forward, leaving behind a trail of blood- red cinders. The deafening sound of a thunderclap cracked across the nexus. A thick lance of white-hot energy broadsided the harbinger’s fist, forcing it to veer off course. Kanda jumped backwards, disengaging from the beast. Harbinger turned to face the newcomer, a furious man draped in a white cloak glared back at the fused monstrosity. Simmering steam billowed from his singed arm, the macabre price paid for such a powerful spear of magick.

“Strazio,”  Harbinger’s many voices spoke in terrifying synchronicity, “have you come to witness the birth of a new age?”

“So you are Shang Tsung?”

“We are so much more than our individual parts,”  Harbinger’s flame shifted from green to a yellow hue, and Thaal’s visage flashed to life briefly,  “we were known by many names, but now only one seems fitting. Harbinger.”

“Thaal?” Strazio smirked and sharply sniffed the air, “makes sense, I could smell the arrogance the second I stepped through the Nexus gate.”

'We will bring yo-"

“You morons have made a big mistake,” Strazio interrupted the chorus of voices, “at least two of you have pissed me off dearly, and by fusing all you’ve done is let me kill two arrogant birds with one angry stone.”

"In time you will know the terror we bring,"

Harbinger raised its burning hand and let loose a burst of ochre light. The hard-light beam crashed into the avatar and sent him skipping like a stone across the ivory floor. Thin wires of hard-light stretched out towards the fallen defender and wrapped tightly against his seared body. Strazio thrashed and strained against his bindings, but found no reprieve as he was lifted high into the air. Smoldering flames coalesced in Harbinger’s free hand and a red-hot bronze spear was carved into existence. With a practiced throw the spear pierced through the air and skewered Strazio’s abdomen, forcing him to screech wildly.

"Do you hear that?" Harbinger turned towards the other combatants, "that is the sound of crushed insolence."

“I’LL RIP YOUR FUCKING HEAD OFF!” The avatar shrieked.

The harbinger turned to look at its prey and found nothing more than a wounded animal. Feral eyes carved holes of hatred into the fusion’s very souls. Strazio’s flesh peeled away like alabaster cinders escaping a bonfire. Thousands of sparking fireflies erupted from the defender’s form. The hard-light wires collapsed upon themselves as their quarry became nothing more than a torrent of sparks. Atelos’s spear fell to earth, skewering itself into the ivory flooring. Sparkflies surged past harbinger and converged into a single humanoid form several meters away. The avatar’s body pulsed with destructive magick, his flesh was burned away to reveal an endoskeleton of pure roiling rage. Energy charged blood oozed from Strazio’s gut, staining the pristine floor with crimson liquid.

With a ferocious roar, the avatar of anger charged forth towards the target of his hatred. His reckless charge was cut short by an explosion of toxins and scalpel-sharp shards of bone. A well placed blight grenade coated the furious avatar with deadly pathogens, and laced his body with shrapnel. Black spiderwebs of poison-filled veins wormed throughout Strazio’s magick-charged form. His lungs quivered as the venom stole his breath. A knight in putrid armor stood between the avatar and Harbinger, he dared Strazio to pass. Okor raised his bolter and let loose a vicious bolt of irradiated metal. It whizzed past the avatar’s skull, rocketing outward into the white oblivion

"Don’t you dare get in my way!” Strazio bellowed, rushing towards his new foe.

Large tongues of destructive magick arced off Strazio’s form, scorching black pock-marks into the ground. His lungs strained to draw breath, and fire pumped through his veins. The two warrior’s collided with a horrifying crunch. Strazio’s hand burst deep into a chink in Okor’s rusted armor and a burst of magick cracked into the fanatic’s body. The sound of cracking dry bones echoed outwards. Strazio watched in horror as Okor’s abdomen split open to reveal a rapacious maw lined with crooked fangs. Panicked thrashing merely whet the appetite of the daemonic mouth. In his recklessness Strazio had torn a hole through Okor’s armor and his hand was now stuck within the festering abomination.

“Why must... you struggle...?” Okor’s vile voice lectured the impudent avatar, “your rage is nothing... but a withering flame, waiting to be... snuffed.”

Gnawing bones and teeth tore into Strazio’s burning flesh, spilling more sizzling blood. A mixture of pain and rage screamed forth from his gullet. Large arcs of magick surged across his tempestuous form, his muscles surged with renewed strength. Inhuman might coursed through his flesh as his muscles strained against the behemoth before him. Okor pressed back against his foe, refusing to be toppled. A standstill ensued as each combatant strained and pushed against the other. Every heartbeat sent unchecked magick through Strazio’s veins, tearing apart his juiced muscles. With one final heave the ferocious avatar shoved his plodding opponent stumbling backwards.

“You’re lucky,” Strazio snarled, “if you were any less stubborn I would have spiked you into the fucking ground!”

"You mistake strength... for luck?” Okor droned on as his power armor stabilized, “your rage... it makes you... foolish and haughty.”

“My rage,” Strazio began, his voice a crashing wave, “makes me unstoppable.”

The walking corpse and the white-haired man exchanged words as the Harbinger stood in silence.  At the sound of the warrior mentioning his rage, the gestalt stifled a laugh as it stepped passed the marine and stared at Strazio.  The red flames that wreathed the creature’s body faded to a dull green as the visage of the sorcerer Shang Tsung briefly flashed atop the blackened skull.

Your rage will fail you,” Harbinger responded as Strazio watched his own face glimmer over the fusion’s skull.  “We have already tasted of your soul, Strazio Rockwell…” In the blink of an eye, the monster was in front of its prey.  A swift blow cracked ribs and split apart the man’s skin, causing him to bite down on his lip to hold back a roar of pain.  “And we found it wanting.”  A second blow fell upon the side of the warrior’s cranium with enough force to dent his skull and rattle his brain.  With his equilibrium shattered, Strazio toppled toward the ground, but before he made it, a bony foot smashed into his side and sent him hurtling across the Nexus.

The Defender of Darkshire hit the white floor with a dull, shoulder-crunching thud and swore beneath his breath as his momentum carried several yards before he bumped against something firm.  Although his vision was blurred, the fallen man could see the burning green shape looming over him, and he saw the boney black fist as it closed around his throat.

When the Harbinger spoke, it was Strazio’s own voice resonated from the chorus of souls within the gestalt.  “You are only flesh.”  Bony fingers squeezed against the man’s skin as his tanned skin started to turn a nice shade of red.  “You will fail once more.”  A fist smashed into Strazio’s gut as the hand around his throat released its grip, and for the first time in under a minute, the white-haired fighter found himself sailing through the air like the unloved toy of an angry child.

Near the fountain, Yu Kanda winced as the newcomer crashed into the side of the fountain with enough force to splinter the stone structure.  A few yards away, Okor paused to look upon the fallen Defender.  Elsewhere, Jupiter and the others were likewise pulled toward the scene against the side of the Fountain of Infinity.

Despite the battering succession of wounds he’d absorbed, the man’s eyes still burned with the fury that had become his namesake.  “Th-that all you got?”  He sneered as blood bubbled down the corners of his mouth.  Planting his ensanguined fists onto the white ground of the Nexus, Strazio started to push up off the ground.  As he did, a curse formed upon his lips.  “I’m going to fuc—”

Before the words could leave his mouth, a beam of crackling yellow energy smashed into the warrior’s chest.  In an instant, the target of the attack was driven through the concrete rim of the fountain and vanished in the ensuing deluge of water.

With a grunt, Kanda planted his blade into the ground and forced himself to his feet.  The exorcist scowled as the monster casually strode toward him.  When the Harbinger approached the growing pool of water, the liquid started to hiss and shudder.  As it drew closer, the will of the gestalt turned the displaced water of the fountain into a slimy, green froth that burped up splashes of thick, grimy fluid.

“You exude corruption wherever you go,” Kanda growled as he readied himself for another attack against the damnable creature.  He dashed forward and swung his blade only to watch as the Harbinger grabbed it mid-swing and held it in place without a discernable amount of effort.

There was a flash of a visage across the skull of the Harbinger—a draconic visage that radiated honor and virtue before vanishing into the swirl of green flames.  “We will welcome you with open arms”  At that, the gestalt’s mandible dropped open as a stream of flames screamed out into the exorcist’s face.  The man howled in fury and pain as the dragon’s fire charred his flesh.  With a growl, Kanda reached for his belt and grabbed at his sword’s scabbard.  As his hands frantically clasped around it, a wave of electricity surged down the length of the sheath.

Swinging hard, the exorcist wrenched the scabbard from his belt and smashed it against the side of the Harbinger’s skull.  The sudden maneuver was enough to loosen the monster’s grip on the sword, and while he would have liked to press the fleeting moment of opportunity, Yu Kanda dove back into the half-drained pool of brackish water inside the defiled Fountain of Infinity.

From the left of the Harbinger, the young man—Ryner—tried to take advantage of the situation.  Before he could launch an offensive, the gestalt reached a hand out in his direction and leashed a blast of marvelous energy into his face and chest.  Further removed from the fountain, the plague marine was dealing with the battered duo of Victor and Orihime.  Yards removed from that seemingly personal battle, Sasuke Uchiha stirred from the ground and clenched at his chest.  The man seemed to be eying all his options, but before he could make up his mind, the decision was made for him.

Its body wreathed in a conflagration of red and yellow flames, the Harbinger came crashing down onto the small of the warrior’s back.  As he cried out, a spear made of amber light tore down through his shoulder and into the white ground underneath.

Holding out his other hand, the gestalt summoned a second hard-light spear and drove it down through his victim’s other shoulder.  With Sasuke going nowhere fast, the Harbinger knelt down until his fleshless visage was close enough that the ninja could feel the ethereal flames tickling the back of his neck.  As it spoke, the crimson hue faded away from the Harbinger, leaving behind the yellow light of fear.  “Cherish this fear.”  Purple and green overwhelmed the yellow flames as the Harbinger lifted its hands and summoned a scythe.  “Relinquish your soul to us.”

Before the reaper could collect his bounty, two men crashed against the gestalt in a fruitless effort to incapacitate it.  Despite the situation, Ryner and Jupiter clutched around the monster and tried with all their might to lift it from the ground.

Futile.”  The scythe morphed into a mighty, two-handed war hammer that immediately started to glow with sunlight.  Unsure of what was going on, the two men continued to struggle until the hammer released its burst of sunlight, rendering them both visually impaired.  Their grips went slack, and that was all the space the Harbinger needed to walk way from them, pivot, and swing the hammer at Ryner’s midsection.

The man screamed as he folded sideways over the hammer, which continued unimpeded until it drove Ryner straight into Jupiter, who was still clutching at his eyes.  Unable to see and awash in newfound agonies, the two fighters fell to the ground, half tangled in one another following the vicious, bone-shuddering impact.

First comes destruction...

“Foul beast! I shall put you down!” Ferris was unfazed by the transformation of Harbinger, rushing forwards. With burst of speed she dodges an array of attack, just barely, a yellow image of a fist flying past her shoulder, a ball of green fire whizzing under her and she vaulted off her sword, flying through the air, calculating each move.

She was graceful as she approached the abomination That stood before her, foolish yet brave in her attempt to take it out as soon as it was born. Her eyes burned with intensity and a flame that sought justice. It did not matter that this being was crushing a past traitor. It had gone too far.

I forgive nothing...

Ryner followed up behind her, eyes on her armor that reflect bright purple hues onto the floor of the Nexus, giving the bland setting some color. His blue and white robes flowed behind him as he looked around for some aide, reading into others. The ability to burst and speed up and to jump great heights. The image of that sparked a spell in his mind. One he had forgotten back at the Graveyard. Ryner halted and raised a hand to the air, twirling his finger as he chanted the spell, red rings of enchantment swirling around his body as he activated his magic.

create nothing...

“I offer up this contract to wake the wicked spirit beast that sleeps within the Earth!”

His image gained a sparkle as he gained mobility, able to dodge the stray chunks of the nexus floor with ease as he moved about. He began to get into position to attack Harbinger along with Ferris.  Their attack synchronized until in a swift moment, the beast lashed out with its own burst.

“WHAT I SEEK IS THUNDER, IZU---”

Ryner nearly tripped as he abruptly stopped. Ferris suddenly in the grasp of the demonic fusion. She struggled for but a moment as she cursed the entity, until a sudden snap echoed throughout the battleground and the Alpha Stigma’s mind.

save nothing...

The demon inside the Alpha Stigma could feel his weakness. The sense of dread and sorrow as he watched his partner and companion killed as if she was purely a nuisance to the being. Her limp body was tossed in front of him, he wrangled neck a disgusting sight in contrast to her blond hair that lay in a clump on her face. A single uncovered eye stared deadpan up at the sky, unmoving.

I just erase...

Ryner could hardly hold himself together. The small hyperion robot was nearly invisible to him as it threatened him, threats that fell upon deaf ears and a blank mind. Luckily another man interfered, taking the robot for himself. However, a storm brewed within Ryner, his eyes becoming crimson red, a slow but demonic chuckle coming from his pursed lips. The world around him seemed to freeze in focus, a silence in his mind as he lost all control.

...completely.

In an instant the chuckle became a chortle, a giggle, a hearty laugh, evolving in form until the broken man was cackling at the top of his lungs. His whole body shook from his transformation, surrounding himself in an entirely different state of mind. He was no longer Ryner Lute, he was simply an Alpha Stigma.

People die… but it doesn’t matter to you. Not anymore. Everything is yours, a toy to play with. A plaything to erase. Release. Open up. Destroy. Everything.

His hand reached down and grabbed his dead ally’s neck, gripping it tightly as he began to suck the omnilium from her lifeless body. Within seconds he has devoured her, all in the same breath as he continued to roar. Nothing was left of the girl save a few scraps of armor. Vanished from existence, devoured and destroyed, just as he would everything else.

“HARBINGER.”

His voice called out. A threat and a challenge.

“YOU SEEK TO DESTROY? I SHALL SHOW YOU TRUE DESTRUCTION AND POWER.”

He raised a finger, his crimson eyes inscribed with their blue insignia, a symbol of a bearer of cursed eyes.

“I CHALLENGE YOU AND YOUR POWER, HARBINGER. I DENY IT. YOU ARE BUT A STRAND OF WEAKLING BANDED TOGETHER BY YOU OWN STUPIDITY  AND INFERIOROTY. MY BODY MAY BE WEAK, BUT I SHALL PREVAIL. AND ONCE ALL I AM FINISHED. THERE SHALL BE NOTHING LEFT. NOT EVEN I WILL STAND.”

The Alpha Stigma cocked his head, smiling ear to ear with a flashy grin. His eyes scanned and absorbed all the abilities he could. He would feed off their power. Use them for himself. Turn it against them. Their fear would fuel his motives and he will do whatever it takes to do it.

His eyes fell upon harbinger, taking in its immediate abilities. To fly and maintain its speed. An unstoppable force.

“I CALL UPON THE FEAR OF MY ENEMIES TO SUPPLY MY POWER WITH FLIGHT AND SPEED.” With the words he mimicked the abilities of the yellow flames, floating up into the air. He gave another cackle as he analyzed another. The man with the white magic.

“I OFFER MY THE BLOOD AND SACRIFICE TO CREATE TRUE DESTRUCTION.”

His body began to glow white as he hung his head. These powers. The ones from the white haired prime. They would be his best weapon. He then called upon the earlier weapon from Colonel.

“EXECUTE PROGRAM: SABER” His body gave way as his  right hand reformed into the Saber, a dark red glow as he smiled, eyes wide. They would all be his tools. His weapons for destruction. With these abilities he would feel no pain, and he raised his hand with a sadistic grin.

“I must erase. All of you.”

With a swipe he cut the top four fingers of his hand off, the wounds cauterized from the burning blade as he  sped forwards and flung them at the Harbinger, a tiny packed explosive with each sacrificed finger.  They spread forwards and smacked against the ground beside him before erupting in white magic, though the fused Prime’s skin was taut and hard, its resilience was still tested as the being raised a hand to protect itself, growling back at the Alpha Stigma.

"You wish to test our power? So be it, fool. I show no mercy to insignificant bugs like your friend," the entity spat.

The crazed man was quickly becoming the most annoying pest out of the bunch. So loud and careless. There would be nothing left standing at the end, no matter the victor.

Harbinger represented something. He represented hope. For if he could be defeated, then nothing was impossible. They fought against death, against loss, against ruin. What began as teetering steps had turned into a rallying call. Wayward warriors united in purpose in an alien land, against a common enemy.

Harbinger did not care. He flashed purple and the area lit up with a like-hued flame that spread out, conflagrating everything within fifty feet. The majority of them were thrown backwards or else scrambled from the flame. But one of them was trapped between It and the fountain. The ninja looked up and found himself face-to-face with inevitability.

“Fitting,” It told Sasuke, “That you should be the first,” as a yellow blade of pure energy flashed into existence around Harbinger’s right arm.

That moment took place within one second. Victor dove into the purple flames, his clothes and hair on fire, his eyes squinted almost shut against the malign heat. His hand held one dagger in front of the other, braced against the attack.

A scream of energy and steel carried out through the Nexus. Shattered fragments of metal flew out like shards of glass as the great blade of light connected with the fountain. Impaled upon its form were Victor and Sasuke. The blade vanished and the bodies dropped to the floor. Their blood trickled into the fountain and it blossomed red, framed against the twinkling light of omnilium that floated upwards from the primes’ fallen forms.

Quote:Sasuke and Victor are dead. Harbinger may take and immediately use the Silver Rathalos Egg and Gold Rathian Egg (stats posted in OOC Discussion). The Chidori blade goes flying, landing next to Yu Kanda, who may immediately use it (but not take it from the battlefield due to OOC conditions).

'Traitor',  the name bestowed upon him by the cynical warrior that stood beside the entity known as Harbringer, took root within his mind. How could one accuse him of treason when he follows one's own beliefs and stand by what is right. The delusional talk about his god, his view of the Omniverse, need for violence, all signs of a dangerous heretic who follows the ideals of a Deathgod. Another dangerous soul that is in need of salvation, and salvation is what Kanda will bestow upon them both.

The sound of metal clashing upon the Nexus floor snapped Kanda's attention back to the present, back to the battle raging within the Nexus. Gazing upon the weapon he quickly connected the dots, two bodies, a skull showing a sinister yet satisfied grin and tears flowing from the red-haired beauty. Death's presence on  the field of battle was undeniable , for the young warrior it was another call to arms.

The exorcist dragged his hurting body up, a sense of despair took over while doing so. There were several primes that took up arms besides him, but was it enough? His attention was drawn towards the mysterious katana that found its way to the swordsman. There was something about this weapon, even without touching it Kanda could feel the power that surged within. He concentrated for a few seconds in order to summon a sheathe for the weapon, the others seemed to preoccupied celebrating the destruction of their targets, the so called criminals for which they all gathered here to begin with. Yet, this fight has spiralled out of control. Evil reincarnated showed its hideous face and it was his duty to destroy it. Kanda sheathed his newly acquired weapon and knew where he had to start.

He turned his head to the newcomer, Strazio. Even though they never met before he needed him in the battle to come. From what he could tell, they were fighting on the same side, "I will create an opening, you know what to do." Kanda whispered softly as he walked passed. Strazio started to charge his attack up.

"YOU!" Kanda shouted towards the plague infested marine who looked amused when he got called out by the swordsman, "Oh? I thought your god had already reclaimed your soul. It seems I will have to assist." The marine's words were filled with both disgust and excitement, quickly he started to move towards his challenger.

Kanda stood proudly as he placed Mugen back into its sheathe, taking a single step towards the walking container of diseases,  "Look in to your own soul and tell me that you are not proud to be a prime, that you have not endured or suffered, lost the things you cared about most. And yet, here you are, a survivor of the verses.

This is the Omniverse, Angel or devil, Prime or secondary, you live here. You did not chose this world, it chose you!  You can either accept it and live your life with purpose or wander around wasting away.

An angel isn't something that lives above us, watches over us, keeping us safe. It's not a god or an idea. Angels live here in the world among us, with us. Always here but rarely recognized. Look into your soul and see yourself what you truly are. You're a disgrace of a Prime, and you will find salvation by an angel's touch before this battle ends."
Okor was in no mood to listen to any more preaching, "Then show me, show me these so called protectors, these, angels."

The divine warrior wasn't wasting any more words, from his shoulder blades two large energy  angelic wings appeared.  Spread widely the innocence wings shone brightly, enough for his foe to stand still for a moment and gaze upon the blue light being emitted by them. Strazio saw the opening and released his attack, with a scream of agony the excessive energy burned his arm as he sent a wicked bolt of raw magic straight for the marine.

With a strong stroke of his wings Kanda took towards the sky, avoiding Strazio's attack, his wrist showed the stigmata symbol from which blood started to emerge. The blood and innocence mixed together for the creation of the crystallized blood bow. High in the sky Kanda took aim and rained divine arrows  of innocence upon both Okor and the Harbringer of death. With great precision the arrows soared towards their targets.  The diseased marine had trouble keeping up with the rage filled warrior attacking him head-on and the air support he had from the exorcist. The angelic warrior took steady aim, with pinpoint precision he send an arrow towards the marine's eye, but before he could verify whether the projectile hit  its target, he felt the presence of Harbringer behind him in the sky, "How naive." With a single blow the fused prime send the angel like warrior crashing down towards the ground like a shooting star, leaving a trail of energy to follow his path during the fall.

Face down on the nexus floor, Kanda could barely move his body, the accumulated damage rendered to him by the puppets of darkness had finally caught up with his human limits. No longer would the embodiment of his innocence be able to carry out its sworn duty as an exorcist. Behind him he heard footsteps coming in closer, "My, my, Mr.Kanda, it seems you are unable to continue your crusade against this entity of hell. Allow me to assist you with any inconvenience your body is currently providing you with."

Kanda felt how Smith kicked his body on to his back and groaned in pain. "Don't worry Mr.Kanda, you would've never been able to succeed. Allow me to give you purpose once more." The agent picked up the swordsman from the floor, holding up the seemingly lifeless body of the exorcist up with a single hand. Forcing his second hand into the young exorcist chest the Agent grinned, it was the start of the return of Smith. The agent was spreading his code through Kanda's Body.

Deep within his soul Yu felt the innocence fighting back and taking control, the unknown energy that was flowing through his body seemed to be suppressed by the divine energy within himself. Smith noticed something was wrong, that the flame of power the exorcist used to fight the Harbringer was not yet doused, instead, it was coming for him like a virus. Attempting to pull his hand out he noticed that the innocence held it in place. "Impossible!"Smith growled as he witnessed a large shadow over him. The blue angelic wings spread once more as they slowly engulfed both primes into a large ball of innocence . With a last scream from the agent combined with  an explosion of fluorescent  light it became silent within the Nexus.

The gathered primes turned their heads towards the source. No longer were there two separate primes. A single prime, black suit, black sunglasses, long blue hair, two Katana blades on his back and the crescent rose symbol upon his breast pocket was standing tall.

Agent Kanda looked at both his hands with disbelieve, "Interesting."

"Fucking... hell," Jupiter muttered, wiping blood from below his bottom lip. This was not good, not at all. This "harbinger" was a real pain in the ass. In the worst way possible. Thing is, it wasn't easy to even move after that shotgun blast from the toaster. Either way, all these people could go and fuck themselves.

He vaguely noticed something... odd, with the exorcist and the agent. They went and fused just like this Harbinger. Damn it all, why couldn't people just fight alone? A gloved hand slowly moved to grab his red-tinged sword from the ground next to him. Using it to push himself upwards, he stood weakly. He was back in the game. Well, he was, until a plague-infested fist knocked him back down onto the ground.

"Don't you see, traitor?" A blade sliced through the air straight toward him, and Jupiter rolled out of the way to meet his blade with his own. "All is destined to end eventually. It seems your life will end... rather early." The two blades met, sending off a loud clang. And another, and another. Jupiter was sort of winning, because of his advantages, but Okor was certainly keeping up, despite his bulk.

"Y'know, you shouldn't-" Clang. "-count me out so early, Sir Stinksalot," the younger of the two muttered, jumping to the side and avoiding yet another swipe. The plagued one got a slice in, and hit him in the shoulder. Needless to say, it was rather painful.

"Thing is about me, I don't really give up until I'm not breathing any longer," he said, to which the creature chuckled. "Admirable. But you don't... stand one chance," replied Okor, before aiming a stab into him. Another dodge, another attempted attack. This whole play was getting boring. Maybe it was time to spice things up a little.

Jupiter backed up, focusing on his weapons of choice. Gaster Blasters. They surrounded him soon enough, and he began dashing toward the diseased mass that was Okor. A hand shot to his gun holster, and he grabbed the pistol lying in wait. Here goes nothing.

It was a stupid plan, in retrospect. But it had to work. He jumped, vaulting over the beast's head (if you could call it that), and four concentrated white rays, plus a bullet, hit their target at once. Okor was knocked forward a few meters. Success.

But as he rushed forward for another try, his opponent was ready. A diseased sword found its way into a metal skull, and Jupiter was floored. Smoke filled the air as a finishing blow was prepared. Smoke... that didn't belong. The hybrid's head tilted back, and there it was. A brown and red gate, ready to be entered.

Should I?

What was this feeling? Something was different than before. Something about Mister Kanda had... altered his ability. He remembered that he had tried to stop... he had tried to prevent... THIS. But something within the human had held fast to him. It had drawn him in... and created an abomination.

No... this was impossible. Ever since that fateful day in that hallway, Smith's... unique ability had functioned properly. His code would overwrite the host and a new... him would be born from the infection. Why? Why had things been different this time? What had gone wrong? The program's mind struggled to wrap itself around what had happened.

Foreign thoughts and emotions intruded upon Smith's mind. Human concepts like honor and hope found purchase within his programming. The ex-Agent rebelled against his attack on his very self. As he did so, his physical form stumbled to and fro, it's form fluctuating violently between that of the samurai and his own. The two who had become one fought for control of their new body, a battle not of thought or form, but of personality.

So caught up in their own struggle, the fused entity failed to register the Harbinger's approach. The behemoth towered over them as they fought for dominance over their form, and it laughed in sinister mirth at their plight.

Fool...” it said, its skull blazing with multi-hued flame. “You failed to realize that this was no longer your fight, Smith. It is ours. Had you stayed aside, you might have lived to see our new age. But, for the insolence of trying to take our prize, you will share his fate. You've sealed your doom, Smith, and that of Yu Kanda's as well.

The creature's fist flew towards Smith and Yu Kanda, a blow which could shatter stone causing the air to whistle around it. Smith could see what force it had... what it would do if it connected. A shattered body within a large crater... a familiar sight to the program. There would be nothing left of him after that.

“No,” the gestalt spoke softly as the blow streaked towards them. In an instant, he had moved aside, and the Harbinger's fist struck the Nexus ground with an earthshaking force. The Harbinger's strength was second to none... but that did not mean it was invincible. More and more of Yu Kanda's hopeful ignorance... of the man itself, copied onto Smith, but it didn't matter any longer. Before, he had been complacent in merely watching the battle unfold. Before, he had been fighting against the creature... his allies being beaten aside as easily as himself. But no longer. There was no option for escape. No chance for mercy. This Harbinger would destroy them, if they did not fight back. And... just like that, Smith and Mister Kanda found a reconciliation in their conflicting personalities. In the desire to live, they found the ability to fight together.

The Harbinger straightened to its fully erect form, staring down upon the union before it.

Surprising to think that you could avoid our attack. But it's useless to resist. You've simply delayed what would have been a merciful end, fool.

“Agent Kanda, if you'd please,” the Harbinger's foe replied. In one hand, they held the strange sword Mister Kanda had found earlier. And in the other... a large caliber handgun. While the beast had yet been registering their unexpected movement, they had not been idle. The loud retort of a firearm reverberated around the area as Agent Kanda let loose a volley of rounds towards the beast. And... as tough as it was, it seemed that the rounds WERE, in fact, hurting it. Or, at the least, annoying it.

Perhaps this was the key to victory... to keep the thing at range. With the distance, Agent Kanda was able to predict and avoid its flaming skulls and other ranged attacks far more easily than they could have avoided in close. Even so... the conclusion to this battle was inevitable. Though Agent Kanda was far more powerful together than they had been separately, the Harbinger was beyond any being's comprehension in its strength. It was all they could do to simply avoid the beast, and even that was largely due to the Harbinger seemingly toying with them. It seemed the behemoth was enjoying this, slight, challenge to it and it was obvious it was holding itself back in order to lengthen its pleasure.

With growing apprehension, the Agent realized this wouldn't work. The beast was far too powerful to be taken down in such a manner. As they had surmised before, it was perfect. Yet... even so, the Agent could not give up. Yu Kanda's incessant desire to do good and his pitiful hope would allow no retreat, and Smith's own pride would allow no surrender. And perhaps the Harbinger's own arrogance would... wait... yes... that might work. The Harbinger might be all-powerful, but perhaps it wasn't perfect after all. As both Smith and Mister Kanda were well aware, even the most powerful beings had a weak point. But this would have to be played out carefully.; the Harbinger was not a fool. It had to continue to believe it had the upper-hand, until the... opportune moment presented itself to the Agent.

Again and again the two fusions launched attacks at one another, and though the Agent had gotten a few good shots in initially, the Harbinger was already beginning to learn their combat style. Fewer shots hit its steel-like body and its own attacks came closer and closer to hitting Agent Kanda with every volley. Suddenly, it appeared that the Harbinger had tired of their little game. It was upon them in an instant, effortlessly avoiding their gun fire and swatting away the Desert Eagle with a hand-stinging slap. Its other hand closed about their neck and lifted them to face it.

I admit, you provided us with some... mild entertainment. But we've grown bored with your antics, mortal. But, do not be dismayed. Though you die now, you may rest well in the knowledge that you were one of the first to witness our glorious rise.

Agent Kanda pried at the Harbinger's hand with his own and struggled to reply through the vice-like grip of the Harbinger. That grip lessened slightly as it saw their plight and it leaned in close to hear their words.

You have something to say, Agent Kanda? Very well. What are your last words?

A grin formed on the Agent's face as he spoke.

“Chidori.”

The two mighty warriors were blasted apart by the eruption of power which launched itself towards the Harbinger's jaw from the sword pressed between them. A great smoke concealed them from the other combatants and those who merely watched the fight. Had the Agent's gambit paid off? Was the Harbinger beaten back? Only the clearing of the air would tell.

A terrifying shriek came from the cloud of dust, a familiar beast’s head rose above the debris. With two confident flaps of its wings, the Golden Rathian cleared the smoke and revealed the battlefield. The beast’s head shook in rage as Agent Smith clearly saw the enormous wound upon the creature. Large droplets of blood flowed out of the gaping hole in it’s chest as it bared its bloodstained teeth at the new fusion.

Harbinger walked calmly in front of the Rathian, the flames turning into a bright red hue, the bastardized face of Atelos came into view for a brief second. The Spartan’s shaggy hair was let free of his helm and his face seemed to be distorted. The Harbinger would be smiling if it were physically possible. Harbinger shook its head as it spoke.

“Tsk. Tsk. Tsk. You almost woke him up. Now we don’t want that. This was just getting…interesting.” Harbinger raised his bony hand and suddenly the red flames began to twist and trickle down into his hand. The fire immediately cooling upon contact with bone into a bronze shield. The Harbinger of Ruin pointed at Agent Kanda before he dashed. His image almost flickered before suddenly reappearing before the recent fusion. The Rathian followed suit and roared before limping towards the prime.

Harbinger swung his massive shield at the Agent, his target barely dodging before another swing came. The agent barely avoiding every blow began to sweat before Harbinger backhanded his shield into the mortal’s stomach. The agent skidded back, barely keeping onto his feet for a few seconds. The Golden Rathian was right behind the insect and pinned him to the ground with it’s massive claw. It let out an earth shattering roar, blood from it’s wound dripping upon the Agent’s chest. The dragon bit down at the ground, its prey barely avoiding every bite. Agent Kanda struggled underneath the beast’s claw, finally managing to free an arm from its grasp. A gun materialized in his hand and he shot the beast in it’s already massive wound. He was finally free as the Rathain let out a massive shriek and backed away from the fused prime.

Harbinger was already by Agent Kanda’s side, his skeletal fist making contact with the prime’s face loosening at least a few teeth. Agent Kanda had no time to respond, his skeletal hand soon grasped around the primes throat before tossing him to the side. Fire coalesced into his other free hand forming a spear. The agent bounced back onto his feet as the Embodiment of Ruin charged at him. The God’s flurry of jabs with his spear were easily covered by the bulky swings with his massive shield. His ability to read his opponents next move enhanced as the fight went on, his glancing blows became more directed and threatened to be lethal. Agent Kanda did a series of backflips giving more than enough room to distance the two fusions.

“Stop this nonsense and perish. Give into the destruction.” Harbinger spoke with a bit of glee as the bronze spear flew at Agent Kanda, piercing his foot and pinning the insect in place.

Harbinger reached inside his burning ball of flames and took out a glowing orb of energy. The energy pulsated throughout his body, the dragon inside of it was begging to be called out into battle. His fist closed around the small orb, dark flames swirled around the fusions hand forming an almost charcoal colored skull of a dragon. The Dragon’s Maw began to open and it’s eyes began to glow a bright white and a black orb began to swell inside of it.

“Prepare to feel the wrath of a True Dragon Slayer.”

A snarl wormed its way from Okor’s pitted helmet, the growl starting in the back of its diseased throat and promising to end in someone else’s. To say that this battle was not proceeding as it should was an understatement. It was a mockery of the sacred struggle that he had brought to a thousand worlds, a perversion of his purpose. A scream of agony echoed across the emptiness, heralding a lance of ivory energy that tore through his torso, vaporizing its way through ceramite and fused bone before emerging out of his back, a thin trail of smoke accompanying it.

He gazed down at this grievous wound, an arrow embedded in the chitinous carapace concealing his skull, revealing naught but the infected iris of his infernal oculus. It was quite clearly a mortal wound, a strike that would have stood a fair chance of downing a charging grox. Nurgle’s chosen merely grinned, septic spittle stretching between his fangs as he spoke. ”Missed both my… hearts.” The laughter stopped as soon as it began, the ancient warrior cursing himself for making such a tragic mistake: Taking his eye off of the foe. Violent arcs of incandescent energy coruscated around the berserker’s arms, two hands stained with his own blood grabbing the rusted iron of his helm, and driving it down onto a raised knee. Confusion tinged Okor’s final thoughts, questioning the purpose of such a futile maneuver.

A flash of incandescent energy erased his consciousness for the briefest of moments, atomizing the damaged structure of his second skin as it collided with the brutal force of the blood mage, bone cracking against iron as they strived to share the same space.

The warriors stumbled away from each other, black smoke pouring from Okor’s skull as the berserker panted, corroded fragments of shrapnel embedded in his arms and right leg, the corruption his wargear was seeped in spreading through the wounds.

A wordless howl pierced the air, a twisted spire of cracked bone emerging from the thick cloud, ravaged tatters of skin hanging from a flayed skull, tainted tusks failing to withhold the acidic spittle leaking from his maw. Strazio, his view obscured by the acrid smoke rising from the latest victim of his magecraft, was caught off-guard by the sudden movement, the tip of Okor’s horn meeting yielding flesh, the pestilential protrusion piercing his abdomen. “Motherfucker!” Came the cry, bloodied arms beating against the giant’s back, cracking his carapace, denting the armour that had long since become one with his skin, every neural interface screeching agony and indignation along his frayed nerves.

Realizing that Nurgle’s chosen paid no heed to his assault, Rockwell snarled in pain as he forced himself off, the clumsy movements of his foe unable to keep him impaled on his horn. Breaking apart, the two circled each other, a brief moment of peace serving only to exaggerate the chaos surrounding them.

His skull was filled with static. It was the only description he could think of, as scrapcode and primitive anger bled from his steadfast companion, a translucent trickle of drying blood dribbling from his obliterated nose. His lone eye, set in a mass of twisted bone and burnt skin, glared with unreasoning hatred, filthy froth staining a ragged beard as he hunched over, weapons forgotten as slurred curses spilled forth, summoning the dread powers that gave their patronage to the monster.

Strazio, however, wasted no time in prayer, a scream of agony and anger heralding his vaporization, the avatar of rage discarding his physical form in favour of raw fury. A hateful haze moved past the ancient warrior, scorching and scarring his bared skin, the devotional dirge increasing in intensity, refusing to be silenced by the berserker. He turned, his ponderous, plague-ridden corpse struggling to keep up with the speed of his foe, the hit and run tactics incredibly frustrating to one so accustomed to gruelling wars of attrition.

Much to his surprise, this was not a mere hit and run.

Bloodied fingers wrapped themselves around the pallid skin of Okor’s arm, digging deep into mummified flesh as a heavy boot crashed into his abdomen, malformed ribs cracking under the pressure as a manic grin spread across his foe’s face. His leathery hide split apart as Strazio pulled, maggots and worse writhing underneath his flesh, falling from the rents as his gauntlet raised the rusted pistol towards the youth, the mechanical scream of unimaginable pain resounding through his every deadened nerve.

It was far too late. With a tearing of dessicated flesh and a pop of diseased bones coming free from their socket, his limb ripping free as he pulled the trigger, a growing cloud of napalm settling over his shoulder, a hasty dodge saving him from a fiery death. Howling his anger at the world, Straizo swung his newly acquired appendage, the squirming parasites within falling from the great wound as it collided with its former owner’s head, a blackened tooth flying away from the scene of impact.

”Bahrstahrd!” Screamed Okor, his fangs slurring his words as he pressed the heated barrel of his weapon to Rockwell’s abdominal wound, flesh sizzling even as he pulled the trigger. An inferno blossomed within his foe’s gut, phosphex filling the gaping hole left by his prior attentions, scorching Strazio’s innards with a chemical that would have broken every component of the geneva convention, had Geneva not been a smoking crater in his home ‘verse. His skull smashed against the sorcerer’s, the resounding crack of bone a soothing melody, a sweet accompaniment to the scream of pain birthed by the pyre within the berserker's belly.

An elbow careened into his stomach, the force behind it driving him back as a ravaged hand tore the pistol from his grip, the magickally enhanced maniac taking advantage of Okor’s currently reduced might to drive him back.

A snarling smile split his savaged face, the frozen heart of hatred that had kept him alive for millennia triumphing over the animalistic intelligence that dwelled within his warplate. ”Everyone thinks they’re the… Hero, don’t they?”

Rockwell stopped, confusion and curiosity seeping into his expression as he held the severed limb over his head, stopped mid-way through a skull-crushing strike. “The hell are you talking about?”

”You all think this is about you. That your… hatreds matter more than others, that your rage burns brighter than any other. That standing up to us makes you champions, figures of... Legend.” A snort of laughter broke the solemnity, the warrior no longer able to contain his mirth. ”I know I am but a pawn, a game piece of the gods. In the end, I’m nothing more than a… corpse, yet to drop.”

Omnillium turned into rusted iron, a wickedly twisted blade scything towards the paused Strazio, a throat-tearing motion used upon battlefields and altars over the aeons.

”Pawn takes king.”

One step too far forward was all that was needed to deliver a wicked blow upon the avatar. In his arrogance he pressed forward and allowed, no invited , retaliation. Okor's blade pulsed with malevolence, its rusted edge dripped with wicked toxins. The juggernaut lurched forward, displaying a startling quickness in his strike. A primal howl filled the battlefield as the verdigris encrusted shank ripped across his flesh. Searing fire sliced across the avatar's chest and forced tainted blood to stain the pristine Nexus floor. His heart fluttered as the poisons constricted the beating muscle. The avatar's power fluttered, the crackling energy that enveloped his body dissipated.

"Get back!" Strazio screamed desperately.

Okor chuckled heartily, "it seems that your... misbegotten power has... failed you."

A virulent cocktail of venoms and toxins pulsed through Strazio's failing veins. His lungs heaved and shuddered with every burning breath. Necrosis chewed across his tainted flesh and he stumbled backwards from the looming Okor. Strazio's muscles twitched violently as he tried to move, every inch was torture. With a desperation usually only afforded to dying dogs Strazio lashed out. He reached into his wounds and coated his palms with blood, the macabre fuel for his magicks. The sound of raindrops upon tin marked the delivery of his attack, a Jackson Pollock painting of blood splattered across the plague marine's shell. Within moments the droplets of blood erupted like hundreds of firecrackers, each snapping with a burst of light followed by smoldering smoke.

The fevered defender stumbled away from the explosion. Each step wracked his mortal form with pain, but every rib-cracking breath reminded him of his painful stubbornness. Lacerations and fractures were nothing but another notch of pain upon his belt, but sickness was something different. Nauseating malaise gripped the defender tightly, sapping his strength and clouding his mind. His gut churned and he fell to one knee, his intestines threatened to bare themselves to the world. Strazio heaved violently, wretching the breakfast that his friend Rumford painstakingly cooked for him onto the ivory floor. Okor's wound brought a debilitating sickness that would welcome death.
Carefully Strazio stood, his legs wobbled like a fresh-born deer learning to walk. Using the tattered remains of his cloak's sleeve he wiped the salty puke from the corner of his mouth. Strained muscles tore at his ruined garment, tearing it to ribbons along the already present puncture wounds. Underneath his scarred flesh was revealed as he tore into his shirt as well, casting it aside. His wounds sizzled violently, as he worked to cauterize each wound, staunching the blood loss, but making the final recovery arduous.

"I'm not done," Strazio growled.

"Is that so?" Harbinger's voice taunted.

With unrepentant speed the skeletal behemoth dashed through the smoke and broadsided the injured avatar. The spartan's shield collided with Strazio's skull, removing him from consciousness. Harbinger's new-found ragdoll skipped across the Nexus, crashing into the center spire of the fountain. Submerged and dying the shattered Strazio sank like a rock in a well. Life ebbed from his tortured form as an angel statue spewed water into his grave. Reality slowly came back in delirious strokes. Shafts of light pierced the shallow water as Strazio's brain gasped for life-giving air. The pale grey flesh of death himself reached into the water, beckoning the avatar to join the afterlife. With a delirious smirk he grabbed the tangible arm and was hefted from his grave. The rush of fresh air slammed into his body and revitalized him as his lungs instinctively gasped for life.

"You, uh, okay bro?" his savior asked.

Strazio turned towards the troll boy, taking a moment before responding, "you - you're the kid from the Colloseum, Gamzee right?"

"You know it dude," Gamzee smiled, "and you're Strawso yeah?"

"Strazio," he hacked out water, "why did you save me?"

"S'doesn't seem right to watch some motherfucker drown like that," Gamzee helped Strazio to his feet, "sides, looks like you motherfuckers needed some help."

"Yeah, thanks I appreciate it."

Strazio tried to step forward, but his body nearly collapsed. Gamzee braced him and pulled him back slightly, "dude, you've got like one and a half feet in the grave. You can't fight those motherfuckers like that."

The defender sighed and tried to move forward again, but fell to a knee. Blood loss and sickness had taken his toll, and no matter how determined his spirit was he could not press forward. Vicious eyes turned towards the chillaxing clown.

"I can't lose," he growled, "not again, not with what's at stake."

Gamzee shrugged, "uhm, I guess I could help you bros out, that skelton bro oozes bad vibes, killing mothefuckers senselessly like that."

"Listen," Strazio spoke in between strained breaths, "I... I don't know if we can even beat them, not when they're fused like that."

"Don't mean we can't try," Gamzee took a step forward, but was halted by Strazio's grip.

"What I mean is we need an ace in the hole," Strazio stood weakly, "I can give you my power, you'll be stronger than you've ever been."

"Shouldn't you at least buy me dinner first?" Gamzee joked.

"Damn it Gamzee! I can't lose," Strazio growled and offered his hand, "I... I need your help, together we'd be unstoppable. Please... please Gamzee I made a promise, and I just can't break it like this."

The clown paused and turned back to the pleading Strazio. It seemed strangely out of character that the furious rage-fille man would grovel. A certain sincerity plagued his voice and tugged at the chill troll's heartstrings. With a slight amount of hesitation he grabbed Strazio's hand and nodded.

"Aight motherfucker, let's do this."

"Thank you," Strazio smiled, "I will warn you, my rage is intoxicating so be careful."

With a burst of light the defender broke down into a thousand motes of light. The burning cinders kissed Gamzee's skin with small burns. He watched in amazement as the sparking flies danced around him and merged with his body. Veins pulsed with energy and he gasped sharply as the remaining sparks entered his flesh. The troll's hair paled and turned white as snow as ink invaded the whites of his eyes. Sharp yellow orbs burned with fury in the center of the dark ink. His normally relaxed muscles tensed with anticipation and he stretched carefully.

"Oh motherfucker, this feels motherfucking fantastic," the merged souls spoke as one being.

Gamzio "Motherfucking" Rockara.

Okor's seeping form once more stepped into frame. His bolter was leveled at the new threat, ready to release a withering burst of bolter fire upon Gamzio. The rage-filled troll sprinted towards the challenger. He performed a series of stunning acrobatics to avoid the deadly spray of bolter fire, his rage-filled body moving at an unprecedented speed. With devastating force his collided with the plague marine, smashing a juggling bat into his foe's ribcage. The forceful impact staggered the stalwart marine, forcing him to stumble slightly.

"Sup motherfucker?" Gamzio taunted, ducking under the retaliatory swing, "you gonna keep getting in my way you slow stupid bastard?"

The man’s suit blurred, his body leaving behind a warping after image as he dodged away from the cataract of dragon’s flame. The agent came into focus at the Harbinger’s flank, his fist already plowing into the abberation’s mandible with a sweeping haymaker.

The Harbinger’s head veered to the side and, for the first time in the battle, it seemed to lose dominance.

Agent Kanda pushed his momentary advantage, a flurry of crisp, precise punches flowing over the burning titan. Each landed with a satisfying PAP, wisps of colorful energy flaring out with every strike, the fires briefly clinging to his knuckles as he drew them back. The blistering combination was finished when the warrior chambered and fired a stiff sidekick aimed at the monster’s blackened temple.

As the kick flew through the air, a surge of fear rushed through the agent’s chest. Something was wrong.

The black leather heel of the dress shoe stopped millimeters from its target. The Harbinger’s aura fluttered between green and yellow, its boney fingers crushing down on the agents ankle. ”You’re fast,” it admitted, a distant amusement in its voice. A crackling noise echoed from the agents captured leg, eliciting a grunt of pain. ”But that’s all you are.”

Tearing the man off of his remaining foot, the Harbinger whipped him through the air in a vicious arc, slamming his head into the ground like an egg into the sidewalk. The man’s body went limp after the first impact, but the beast didn’t stop. Again and again Agent Kanda was lashed down, bits of white flying up as his body slowly beat a crater into the solid stone.

”You cling to such pathetic ideals,” it boomed, it’s words emphasized by flesh wetly slapping over the splintered earth. ”Good? Evil?” it chuckled mirthlessly, ”What a sad philosophy.” When the throttling finally relented, the man lay still, but somehow continued breathing. ”Anything you fear, anything that threatens to change your precious status-quo is ‘evil.’” A heavy heel stomped down on the bloody heap below. ”Change must be terrifying to those that have no control over it.”

“You bring…” Agent Kanda coughed, a splat error of blood splashing out onto his chin. “… destruction.”

A deep, resonating laughter echoed over the Nexus, the chorus of baleful voices cackling in unison. “And you are so innocent? How quick you were to attack what you didn't understand.” The creature gazed down upon the agent,  “We only wanted to further our own goals,” it wavered to yellow, “to quell chaos,” then purple, “to gain power,” green, “to sate our hunger,” and finally red, “to relish in glorious combat.” The beings visage twisted back to an even mixture. “You saw fit to attack us for nothing more than our ambition, for nothing more than our might.”

Harbinger lifted its foot away, bent down and grabbed the agent by his tailored collar, scooping him up and holding him aloft. ”But we are not looking for your sympathy,” it purred, ”only to ensure that you understand what fool you've been.” Slowly a long, green blade formed in his hand, and the tip pressed into the warrior’s belly. ”Do you understand now?” the monster asked and inched its weapon forward, the tip disappearing into his gut.

Agent Smith sneered, crimson running down his brow and dripping off if his chin. “Perfectly.”

The man’s foot swung up and struck the underside of the Harbinger’s head, knocking it back. It’s grip did not relent, even as the battered man struggled against it, even as more flailing, uneven strikes met their target. Desperate for release, the dysfunctional program threw his leg over the monster’s arm, using all of his strength to twist the creature into a standing armbar.

”Yes, good,” the Harbinger rumbled, ”Fight.”

The two flicked out of sight, reappearing at the fountain. The entangled opponents stood over the limp bodies of Sasuke and Victor, their blood mingling with the water. ”Just like they did.”

The Harbinger muscled through the hold and used its other hand to grab his belt. Grunting ethereally, Harbinger hefted the agent upwards, his legs slipping and finding themselves on either shoulder. With the agent up in the air, essentially sitting backwards on the monster's shoulders, the skeletal being slung him forward and slammed the man downwards into to rim of the fountain with a spine-shattering powerbomb. The fountain split, and a deluge of re-tinted water rushed out over the Harbinger’s feet and bent legs. When the creature let go of its victim and stood, the three bodies flopped out of the broken basin like drowned rats returning with the tide.

"Now die like they died," the emerald tip of the jian thrust downward, as thirty for blood as its master.

A white-hot explosion threw the Harbinger from its feet, boiling the tiles that once supported the being. The jian instantly crumbled as the monster's focus faded, its edge left unsated. The third fusion of the fight stood at Agent Kanda’s side, furiously heaving as rage-fueled magicks coursed through his veins.

“I’ve never felt a mother-fucking thing like it,” Gamzee gasped, jolts of euphoria rushing through him with every new surge of anger. “This power!” he yelled, seemingly to himself. “This mother-fucking POWER!” The juggalo giggled darkly, a sinister tone coursing just below the surface.

“POWER!?” a distance voice boomed from above. The fused mage looked up to see the Harbinger’s myriad tones twisting around it wildly as dark and horrible tempest, threatening to rip the sky itself apart. The vortex of fire condensed upon itself until it was no larger than a billiard ball, hanging precariously off the tip of a single, skeletal finger. “You don’t know the meaning of the word.”

The mote flashed down, and the new opponent’s eyes opened wide. Gamzio scooped up Agent Kanda under his arm and sprinted as hard and fast as his legs could carry him, the shimmering dot of pure energy rushing down to the earth as they ran.

The horizon flashed white, and for a moment, there was only light and suffering.

When finally the brightness faded, the combatants found themselves huddled in a smoldering pile several hundred feet from where the fountain had been. Overhead loomed a shadow of a being, its blaze cutting through the smoke as a candle cuts through darkness.

“Do you not see, yet?” it bellowed, “How are you yet so blind to the conclusion of this conflict?”

Agent Kanda shook his head stiffly, and hacked out a glob of congealed blood. He looked up to his savior, his momentary ally, and they each nodded to each other. It was a quick moment, but a powerful one. “For now,” it seemed to say in its silence.

Just as they sealed their alliance, everything went black. A thick miasma of absolute darkness rolled out in every direction.

For a moment, all was still. There were no more voices, no more attacks. The two men took a few fumbling steps, their hands outstretched, searching for anything to inform them of their surroundings. Then, in the bleakness, a choir of voices whispered, the hot breath only inches from their ear.

“It is your blindness that will kill you.”

Oh that’s just fan-motherfucking tastic. Sight is a miracle that was robbed of him. The mire that swallows a portion of the nexus also happens to swallow the fusion’s entire world. Well, happy fun slaughterin’ time ain’t coming any sooner unless he gets a grip on himself. Heh.

Good luck with that.

---

It was sinful.

In the name of all that is Mirthful, Gamzee swore that he would end such blasphemy. Strawso provided the means to do so.

The clown’s elegantly simple mind could not find the words necessary to describe the raw, frenzied torrent of power that coursed through his royal veins as Strazio merged his unyielding anger into the teenager’s very being. Oddly enough, a sort of contradictory inner peace was achieved by the transformation. The pleasant little haze that generally accompanied Gamzee’s thoughts was dissipated. His mind was as clear as the heart on his sleeve. And then, shit got lit.

Gamzio wasn’t even sure what was going on. He was simply moving, existing, breathing. This putrid motherfucker swinging some nasty ass sword at him was so cumbersome, so clumsy. Soon, his opponent would not be doing any of the aforementioned moving, existing, or breathing. Another sluggish attempt at cleaving Gamzio in twain is deflected by a rainbow shower, a newly miracalized juggling club interrupting the infectious arc.

The armoured zombie grunts in a stupendous display of effort, rusty blade grinding into the ivory of Gamzio’s weapon.

“Yaknow, motherfucker, I kinda like you. Rough around the edges, like me. Us. But, you kinda got us messed up,” Sinewy muscles straining and sick grin proudly on parade, the blazing troll eases away the biznasty edge ever so slowly away from his face.

"A hero stands up for justice; not himself. A hero thinks of saving others; not destroying them," White hot magicks swirl around his free hand, levied point-blank at Okor's rotten mug. "A hero is motivated by justice. A hero plays fair." Gamzio's open palm angles itself, and a bolt of raw energy is propelled right into Okor's codpiece. Regardless of any actual sensitive parts even actually being present on this filth, the undead tank is brought to his knees by the sheer force of the bolt. His grip on the venomous weapon fails him as it clatters to the white tile of the nexus.

"We ain't no motherfucking hero, ill-blooded motherfucker. "Now, one thing we are? One thing we most definitely motherfucking are?” And that sickening, demonic, twisted, insane, broken smirk splits the grey skin on Gamzio’s face.

“We are higher than you, brother."

The colorful club is raised high in the air, poised for a K.O.

However, shit hits the whirling device. Sounds of a rather brutal scuffle are accompanied by the cacophonous sound of a GIANT FUCKING ASSHOLE invites him to walk away from the kneeling pawn. That scum, the flaming skeleton dude. He is the giant fucking asshole. The giant, flaming asshole.

Mister Rockara has a white-hot miracle with his name on it.

---

And here we are, kicking back in a miasmic hell created at the behest of previously notioned giant flaming asshole. Life’s a bitch. Welp! Gamzio can’t make a literal killing just standing here in this nasty ass fog, and the poor motherfucker he managed to nab from death’s hand seems to have been lost in the-

Oh.

Whistling nonchalantly, the Troll of Rage steps carefully over Agent Kanda’s body. Sure, he saved the weirdo from impending doom, but that’s because it seemed fun to keep another combatant in the game. However, if he can’t get himself out of this predicament, then the trash needs to be removed from the battlefield.

Now then, the abundant amount of logic that is most definitely present in his head tells Gamzio that if he just keeps on a steady pace in one direction, he will eventually reach a blindingly white light that will hopefully be maybe the Nexus. Maybe. Hopefully. With a quiet sense of inner focus, the Clown Warrior takes off at a brisk jog in a random direction.

But not for long. He might have been moving for a good ten minutes, during which this depressing, stomach-flipping sort of silence descended upon the fighting grounds. Also during this time, the invigorating energy from Strazio’s initial fusion that flooded and filled Gamzio’s very core was oddly AWOL. The rage and hysterically happy anger was ever present, but the vim and vigor was nowhere to be found. Truth was, he was exhausted. As such, it’s not even a major surprise when he drops to a half hearted jog with his eyes shut. Also as such, it’s an even less major surprise when the Not-Hero walks right into something very, very hot and solid.

Hot. Flaming, one could say.

A skeletal hand latches onto Gamzio’s painted face like a vice, obscuring his vision, but not the sharp, jagged teeth that constitute his crooked grin. Without a word, Mr. Bad Vibes lifts Mr. Rage Vibes off the ground by the face. The corners of Rockara’s lips peek out from behind his foe’s skeletal hand, a testament to the boy’s cheeky and wicked rebellion. If a flaming skull could express physical emotion via facial features, it would probably be conveying amusement right about now.

And you know what happens next? The bitch starts to monologue! Like seriously? Really? While the glowing teenager is just suspended in air by the face? How motherfucking rude. This isn’t Hamlet. Something about power, something about death and destruction and existential crisis yadda yadda yadda, Gamzio really could give less of a shit, which is why he lets his one club clatter to the ground. The sound is synonymous to bullet casings littering the floor. The boy splays his palms outwards, and begins to let Strazio’s sick magicks flow to his fingerti-

The light fades from his hands. This motherfucker is still in a soliloquy.

*sn~ap*

An indiscernible reaction sound emits from the clacking bowels of the Harbitcher’s chest cavity as this demon child, this pathetic brat, this insignificant excuse for an opponent lays a hand on him. Out of curiosity, the Skele-bitch releases his grip on Gamzio’s head. The angsty troll’s grip on his playmate’s carpal bones does not.

Constriction. Squeeze. Piercing marrow.

*SCR-AAAA-AAAA-AAAPE*

The Harbinger allows Gamzio Rockara to drag the monstrosity’s phalanges across his own face. The makeshift claws gouge three jagged, diagonal scars from his left temple to his right cheek. Royal, violet blood seeps across the scar tissue, painting the fluorescent adolescent’s face. Slowly, a long purple tongue slips past the horned boy’s lips, lapping up several rivulets of precious amethyst, right before spitting a cocktail of blood and spit into the Harbinger’s right eye socket with a satisfying hiss. A noticeable glob survived the flames, and now resides in the recesses of the bastard’s cranium.

Virulent, indigo lightning crawls across the berserker’s form. There’s a twinkle in the flamey motherfucker’s right eye socket. Like a fuse fulfilling it’s purpose, the twinkling peters out. A seizure inducing fireworks display of hellfire erupts from deep within the demon's dome.
