Erik rubbed his eyes as he rose to his feet. He had failed once again. The psychic sat on the edge of the fountain for a while and moped, depressed that the blade had slipped through his fingers. Gathering all of his emotional strength, Erik stood and gingerly touched his chest where the sword had almost cut him in half. There was a scar running the length of his body, a disfiguring mark in the rough shape of an exceptionally morbid grin. 

The scar wasn't just an ugly wound. While Erik could remove it whenever he wanted, the psychic kept it as a reminder of his failures, just like the scar over his eye. Breathing deeply, Erik began summoning a horse. It had been too long since he had been to Nippur, and he had no idea what state the city would be in. Seeing Shay was a good sign, but Erik wanted to see for himself. Speaking of Shay, Erik hadn't seen the Templar since the fight for the blade.

Erik finished summoning his horse and considered sitting and sulking more, but he knew that he wouldn't get anywhere without taking action. Reluctantly mounting, Erik spurred the horse towards the Endless Dunes gate, hoping that New Babylon would still be in one piece when he got there, preferably with Shay and the blade waiting as well.
