I started a new game so you should crop up at some point. Considered making a Jeff too.
The joy this time round is that it saves your past soldiers and they can appear as rookies, VIPs, or 'dark VIPs' (assassination/capture targets) during a campaign. I have most people enabled for all 3.

It is with great regret that I report the loss of Neal "Nealaphh" Nealapph and Ben "The Stacker". After a string of highly successful missions with badassery from both the talented grenadier and sharpshooter with zero casualties, including one terror mission, confidence was at an all-time high. I assaulted the alien black site and managed to retrieve the mission objective with minimal upsets. Unfortunately when the Stacker grabbed the vial we were after, alien reinforcements pinned us between themselves and another squad who mind controlled Nealaphh and set him to work against us. Before long our good luck turned sour and the entire squad was wiped out.

Adam got stabbed by a lancer and then shot by an advent trooper. Strazio got wrapped up by a big snake, and then Kakashi managed to free him. Strazio then missed an 88% chance to melee-kill the snake and got squeezed again, this time exploding his guts. Kakashi then got wrapped by the snake. During all this, Rookie Ganondorf missed every single shot and after Kakashi expired, he roped the fuck outta there.
