Brainstorming: F-Zero Circuit

A long time ago, one of my potential storylines for Dante involved him delving into Tier 4 of Coruscant and helping out a Secondary involved in the local F-Zero circuit, who had become a target to the mafia beneath the surface of the circuit.

Of course, this was a long time ago. With this story line not even having the chance to see the light of day yet, I'm taking a different approach and making it its own thing. I figured it would be the perfect opportunity to try and give light to one of the many Omniverse attractions that have yet to be fleshed out significantly.

But then, I thought, maybe some other people might like the opportunity to participate in a high-octane anti-gravity race championship. Nobody has as of yet the F-Zero circuit here to actually RP any races, so I thought I might present an opportunity here for any people that might like to try it.

As the thread title implies, this is only a conceptual thing still. I had imagined my Secondary character going through the several different races of the anti-gravity F-Zero cup while trying to keep herself from being sabotaged by the organized crime. While this was originally a solo storyline thing, I figure some other people might like to participate, either getting involved with the controversy or just competing in the races. I have no intention on making it a big event or competition the likes of the Secondary Saga or Colosseum, just something fun and different to try out.

...When I say F-Zero, I mean F-Zero (and I assume Omni, who portrayed the circuit in Coruscant Tier 4, meant F-Zero). I've never in my life heard of Swoop Racing.

I suppose, firstly, we should start out with the F-Zero championship itself. Unfortunately, I don't know all the specifics and semantics of the actual F-Zero event here in Coruscant's Tier 4, so I turn to the staff to ask questions such as:

• Is there a distinction between gravity and anti-gravity vehicles- as in, are there two separate events to accommodate each one, or do they both race on equal 'footing' (sort of like Redline)?
  
• What is the effective speed range for such vehicles? I doubt all that many will conform to the natural 80mph/128kph speed limit for summoned vehicles, so some will get around it in their own ways.

Otherwise, let's try and establish some things:

The standard F-Zero race is a three-lap closed-course race, housed in a massive arena that houses the racetrack of the hour. All vehicles are to be equipped with officially-approved shielding and boosting systems, and no other extraneous devices that would give them an additional edge in the race (though that doesn't stop some people in the Omniverse). Tracks may have multiple obstacles, hazards, or other environmental effects: most common are energy-recovery strips and boost plates, while others include high-traction and low-traction surfaces, explosive mines, severe winds, energy-draining surfaces, and jump plates.

A typical championship includes a group of racers proceeding through three or five tracks. Every race awards points to each racer depending on where (and if) you place, with first, second, and third place being the ideal positions. The winner of the championship (as well as silver and bronze medalists) is the racer with the most points at the end of the championship - this need not necessarily be the racer who won first place every time (or at all, in certain cases), but placing in the top three consistently is assuredly necessary to have a chance at winning.

Here are the F-Zero tracks I'm considering for the current championship:

Twist Road

One of the most simple tracks in the league. The wideness of the track, the absence of environmental hazards, and relatively gentle curves make for an easy ride. However, the simplicity of the track also makes it one of the most competitive between the racers, who will assuredly always between each other.
The holographic environment of the arena is similar to Tier 4 itself.

Multiplex

A larger track that is in every way more dramatic than Twist Road. The turns more more harsh, the paths twists and curves in every which way, and the high- and low-traction surfaces feature prominently there. The track is not as violent as others, but if you're not paying attention it can end you as badly as the other racers can.
The holographic environment of the arena looks something more like Tier 2 or 1, but high among the skyscrapers, accentuating the risk of falling from the track.

Meteor Stream

At this point, the track starts getting more dangerous than most of the other racers. It's comparatively shorter, but far more dangerous: the open portion of the track is host to a dangerous, nigh-unpredictable meteor shower for which the track is named for. The other half is a large tube that is entirely a low-traction surface, so be careful coming out that with any control of your machine.
The holographic environment of the arena is in outer space, supposedly in orbit above Coruscant. The track looks vaguely like a destroyed space station that the meteors are assaulting.

Slim-Line Slits

If Meteor Stream is a gauntlet, Slim-Line Slits is an ordeal. Besides the sheer length of this track, the size and direction of the surfaces varies wildly at times, sections of the track suddenly giving way into the abyss. Mines litter the wider sections of the track, recovery strips can lead into traps, and some narrower parts of the track don't even have side rails. Here, you just want to focus on surviving as best as you can, though the more experienced among the races know how to use the dangerous terrain to their advantage.
The holographic environment of the arena is a psychedelic abyss swirling with digital rainbows. It's either a hypothesized vision of the Void, or the very deep portions of the Dataverse.

Half-Pipe

The last track of the championship is no pushover, though it may seem simple at first glance. This track is completely devoid of side rails anywhere, and all the straightaways are danger-filled half-pipes. By danger, we mean stuff like laser fields, bombs, and energy-draining strips - and that's to say nothing of the cramped space where it's difficult to escape from all the other racers (plus the wrecks of the unfortunate ones!). It's quite long and very hazardous, and you'd be fortunate to even finish this race.
The holographic environment of the arena is a dark, gritty industrial area reminiscent of Tier 7.

Oh yeah, I should mention: my storyline won't just be about the races, but the behind-the-scenes events and controversy behind them, so there will be plenty of interaction outside the track. And possible combat/death. (Death won't be as likely on the racetrack, wiping out gets you automatically ejected to a safe zone unless something goes wrong with that.)
