Character name: Somerled Murdoch
Character source: Original Character
Character history: There are few powers greater than that of human fear and belief. It is through intense faith, a devotion to something that can protect their crops, their homes, their families, that gods are born. Likewise, it is through pure terror that monsters are born, beings that stalk the night and sow discord, plucking children from their homes and letting plagues ruin the harvest. Somerled Murdoch is among the latter. The destruction and chaos that weather could bring left people in fear, and reverence. There was every possibility that a typhoon could sweep in from the sea, ruining entire civilizations, or that a frost could set in early and ruin what farmers had managed to grow. And so with worry in their hearts, every black cloud on the horizon, every sudden drop of temperature incited terror, terror that eventually formed the spirit of the weather, Somerled. In the early years of his birth, Somerled was what could be described as your average monster. Mindless, Angry, a being that ran around slaughtering any human it could find. With years comes growth, however, and Somerled found himself becoming less aimless in his rampaging. Storms would spring up, as if directed by some god's wrath, and a new settlement would be washed away. To the humans of the time, the weather itself seemed to be a living being. As years flew even further by, he all but lost his more monstrous traits. No longer would he wipe villages off the map on a whim, as that would deny him the very thing he needs to live. A constant source of fear. Like a light breeze, he'd slip into the cover of a village, playing the part of an amiable traveler. Intermingling with humans, sharing in their laughs and their reveling. Then, under the cover of night, and with all the casualness of someone getting a snack, he would swipe someone from the village. He would devour them, and terrorize the village for a few more nights, feeding off that sweet terror. And like a light breeze, he would vanish.
Yet with all the calming he went through, he was still as temperamental as the weather he embodied. With fits of anger, monsoons flared up, rage at being tricked would bring lightning to him, and when someone wronged him in just the right way, he would be overtaken by a cold, calculating grudge. Winter came early to that region.
The age of the Renaissance saw an explosion in Somerled's power. The steady growth he had been seeing up to that point, as he slowly found more efficient or creative ways to use his power, suddenly became an exponential growth. His ability to draw on fear was what had improved, and with it, came nearly unlimited energy. He grew arrogant, and attacked with more reckless abandon, confident in his ability to not be stopped. As what comes to all who don't check themselves before they wreck themselves, Somerled found himself outmatched, having arrogantly challenged a magical being far beyond his own power. Here he was split into two bodies sharing a mind. He no longer held full sway over the weather. The First Half, keeping his original name, could create storms, wind, lightning. He could bring them into existence. The Second Half, bearing the name of Sonny, could only destroy it, returning everything to the blank slate of a clear sky. They each bear a conflicting half of the original personality, preventing them from working together effectively, or even getting along under most circumstances. The First Half, holding on to the temperament of a storm, while the Second Half holds the temperament of a sunny day.
With the arrival of Colonialism, humans booming out all over the world, laying claim to things that had already long been claimed, Somerled found travel easier. They tried to remain unobtrusive, though. There was no use in drawing attention to themselves. People wouldn't take notice if one person disappeared from one city. They'd just assume the disappeared had run away, maybe killed themselves in the nearby river. Much to the chagrin of the Second Half, however, the First Half was perhaps too much like a storm. Without the evenness of a clear sky to reign him in, he would rage much more on impulse, drawing unwanted attention.
The arrival of the Industrial Age also saw the creation of a faction, the Supernatural Watch Council. Self-appointed peacekeepers, they intended to maintain the balance between humans and monsters, and what better way to do that than by wiping out any monsters who get too noticeable? Now with eyes on them, the Second Half had to physically reign in the raging storm, else they would be terminated. With something as unruly as the First Half was though, it was only a matter of time before he screwed up. The First Half was targeted alone, there was no need to get his calm other half involved, and so he fought back. He fought tooth and claw against the elite hunters of the Council, who were armed with weapons specially made to kill him. He fought like a cornered rat, slimming their forces significantly, yet he couldn't kill them all. At the end of the line, with his powers nullified, facing the wrath of a god, the First Half took the final blow, and woke up in darkness. Two bodies, one mind, for all they've been through, the two are still one person. The First Half still feels tethered to his other half, but it doesn't feel like he's fully there. It's as if he's a consciousness tethered to an already-occupied body. Maybe the Second could create a new body to occupy, but with their power now connected, such a thing feels almost like it could be suicide. For now, the First is going to have to talk to himself.
Physical Description: The First Half of Somerled Murdoch is not a very "monster-like" monster. He takes on the appearance of a Japanese man, about mid-30s. His hair looks like it hasn't been cut in months, tending towards the long side, is unkempt, and black. His eyes are the grey colour of a storm cloud on the horizon. His height is an unintimidating 5'8'', and his physical build is likewise unimpressive. He wears a knee-length light-fabric white longcoat over a yellowish-white/light grey unbuttoned vest. Under the vest is a dark grey, almost black dress shirt, which is not tucked into his black dress pants. His shoes are simple brown running shoes.
The Second Half is essentially the First's clone. He is much more well-kept, however. His hair, which is light blond in contrast to the First's black, is short and neat. He is dressed in a wide-sleeved white shirt, a long, sky-blue scarf is draped around his neck, his pants are light-grey dress pants, and his shoes are simple black loafers. It almost seems like a light glow is emanating from behind him.

Starting Moves:
Lightning Strike (300) (Physical): Somerled channels weather magic through his arm, empowering his next punch with lightning. Channeling takes less than a second, and he can move during the charge. However, he cannot hold onto charge for any amount of time, having to release it instantly. The range is no greater than a normal punch, but it hits much faster and harder. Due to Somerled's human-like durability, actually hitting something with it hurts him too.
Summoned Osmium Hammer (Physical) (300): Sonny draws upon a large amount of Somerled's power to create an osmium mallet. The handle is 5 feet long, and the head is 1 foot in diameter by 3 feet deep. The weapon is plain, completely undecorated. Somerled uses this as a weapon until Sonny unsummons it. It is an intensely slow weapon, but hits like a truck. Swinging it sideways throws Somerled way off balance, and if he misses the strike, will literally throw him several feet to the side. He is also incapable of drawing back the hammer, and instead must swing from where it rests, except when raising it above his head. Sonny becomes temporarily corporeal in order to summon or unsummon the hammer. Neither him nor Somerled can move in that time. Striking Sonny during this time frame causes his form to instantly destabilize and dissolve, using up the magic but not completing the action.
Whiteout (300) (Area, Debuff): Somerled focuses weather magic in an area around him. He then releases a wintry wind outwards from his body, rendering anyone chilled by it snow blind for about 5 seconds. The area affected is 10 feet in diameter. He must stand still to use it, and chargeup is around a second. Once released, Somerled can continue moving. Using winter-related magic drops his body temperature, making his movements and reaction time more sluggish, as well as decreasing fine motor control immensely. His body temperature stabilizes after a minute. This move does no damage.
Tier 1 Super Move: Spirit of the Sun (600) (Area): Somerled reallocates a massive amount of his power, allowing Sonny to become corporeal right next to him. Sonny then explodes with searing heat, which begins weakening starting about 40 feet from him, to about 170 feet where all feeling of it is gone.
