I think that the way to keep the match from going TOOOO long is to do jsut what Adam said:
1 straight elimination
AND
Damage/Injuries
Sure, we're only losing 1 person at a time outright, BUT, people are gonna start dropping out due to injuries FAIRLY quickly. As we get to the halfway point of the battle I wouldn't be shocked if we lost 3 people per round.

Thaal is right about people dropping due to injuries. Aside from like the participants who do THE BEST each round, people are going to get pretty messed up pretty quickly, and even the top dogs aren't going to be doing too fantastically, just due to the sheer number of combatants involved and the chaos being thrown every which way.
It isn't going to be minor 1 or 2 point injuries handed out (except for maybe the person who, again, does THE BEST) so the injuries and damage will rack up quickly.
Just, y'know. My thoughts and personal plans.

As far as deadlines go, I haven't done the math on it, but if we do a 4 day rotation, the MAXIMUM this will take is 50 days (which is actually pretty short, considering), assuming that nobody at all dies from Damage.

Someone make sure that they put together all the information into one cohesive location, so that people like me can read it all at once instead of trying to piece-meal together from pages of this thread <_<

Also, my math was hilariously wrong. That was assuming that an ENTIRE ROUND took 4 days, not every players turn. If we did 4 day deadlines between every individual post, A SINGLE ROUND would take 56 days.
So. Maybe let's think of a more elegant solution.

So. Maybe let's think of a more elegant solution. A post and a half elimination round of all 1v1. It fits well with when combat first starts, people are trying to get the jump on others and it all goes down hill from there. Both sides fire off their first round of attacks within limit of 1000 words, not controlling the other person's character. The main point is this first round happens all at once blindly with no one having the starting advantage.
The second post is them all responding to the first posts they each made and they have to do it in 500 words or less. Judges them determine who survive intact enough to continue on to the more hectic but smaller group fight.
Those who didn't survive the first round are assigned double the damage and are left to lick their wounds in normal rp while the winners take normal amount. The winners may choose to sacrifice the first post of their next battle to execute or banish the losers or may instead focus on their new opponents but gives the opponents time to attack much with the advantage. Note that second battle would proceed much more normally.
That seems to emulate warzone quite nicely.
Note that the loss of the losers is not a sure thing that they are disabled. They can chose to interfere from there on or go after the other losers though they have a significant disadvantage of being extremely injured so there is a strong strong motivation for them to abandon the battle.

To long to scroll through 8 pages of posts...
But I wonder what will happen when Retane learns of this fiasco....

I think we could, for the first couple of rounds, break it into two or three groups and then do Adam's plan.
After each round, we can rotate around in the groups so that we can keep the movement flowing, but having EVERY ROUND last longer than a month is totally insane IMO.
I also think that Sas' idea is the best and most fair for everyone involved, it's just that we need to figure out a way to use it that is both timely AND fair in it's deadlines for people that have like, lives.

If we like the 4 day posting window, we should consider FOUR groups to start with, because then each full round of posts will take 16 days.
Then we'll be down to 10 people, and we can adjust fire as the fighters get more and more thinned out.
What do you guys think of that

What do you guys think of that 16 days sounds ALLOT better..... besides ...4 groups do sound pretty solid

The time restraint and how long this takes doesn't really matter to me. If you don't want to be involved in a long ass battle then don't base assault someone. xD (This is now the third fight I've been forced into, without break, so if anyone can complain about being stuck in a fight too long, it's me.)
I like four days, but I dunno how I feel about groups. The idea that I would be restricted in the fight on who I got to targeted doesn't sit well with me. I have all these artefacts and am going to want to plug in where I feel I can do the most good. So, I dunno... =/

It would take 784 days to complete this combat, over TWO YEARS, so I'm pretty opposed to that.

Perhaps, instead of a strict post order, you could do what we did in the final phase of the Secondary Saga: allow people to post whenever, but have them 'call' in this thread when they're about to post within the OOC hour. I think that would help ensure a faster turnover while also giving the more preoccupied members some flexibility in terms of when they can post. The only changes I would make is that each participant would be limited to a certain number of posts and that there would be an end date for when all the posts have to be made (like, say, a month from the start of the thread).
Alternatively, if a strict post order is necessary, you could limit the posting window to 48 hours. I know that seems harsh, especially for those still involved in the Colosseum tournament, but a big event like this does necessitate a fast turnover and this would help ensure that. Plus, with the amount of people participating, a tight word count limit might be necessary anyway.

This is a good suggestion, whether or not I agree with it.

I do think it's a compelling idea, for sure! My main issue with that is that when we were talking to Omni, most of our posts were super short. It take me like, MULTIPLE DAYS to write a post out, which is why I like having a neat and well-defined deadline. If I called, I wouldn't be able to write it in an hour, or even a single day. Then somebody else posts and everything you've already written is invalidated. Or worse yet, it becomes nasty and contentious because of calling.

For Agnes' sake, and the sake of other regenerators, can we request a temporary buff to the healing powers? I feel 1:1 for SP isn't worth the bang for her buck, and being a pure healer that would be really shitty for her. I don't want her to feel useless because she went healer.

That'll help us cut down on the round time (which is still over half a month per rotation) AND you can allocate your resources too.
