Would folks be interested in having us a mumble/ventrilo/somesuch server? I think it would be cool to have a place for us all to hang out and for new folks to be able to drop in and chat without having to all add each other on skype et al. To some degree, the chatbox serves that purpose, but this would be good for gaming and such as well. Alex's Minecraft server reminded me.

Raidcall is free. My guild uses it quite a bit and it works just like vent and mumble.

Dolby Axon is free as well, and better. Gives you lower latency if you use it in a game, has screennames that can be easily edited, and allows you to control your position relative to others in the room. Room owners can moderate in all the usual ways, as well as "split" the room to create separate conversations.
Those seem obscure... I'm actually pretty happy with just the chatbox.

don't be afraid of change, gramps.
Back in my day, all we had was AIM, and we was happy, dag nabbit! We didn't need none of this newfangled voice chatting, if we wanted to hear someone's voice, and most the time we didn't, but if we wanted to we would just call them.

I'll shelve this for the present, as I expect most folks who would chat can already do so in group skype chats. Perhaps when I've progressed the site to the point where I've added most of the other wished-for functionality, and I can integrate the ventrilo chat into the site itself ...

. . . . they had phones back in your day?
Sometimes the difference between Good and Evil is who is passing judgement.
Sure did, whippersnapper. See, we'd take two old soup cans, and tie them together with a piece of string. Oh, those were the good ole days, before these newfangled seephones, when you actually had to meet people and such.

Gan's so old, he's Jesus' godfather.
Jesus? Please! I remember when ole Eve screwed over Adam. I told my nephew not to trust that bitch.
