A discussion thread for the beginning of Erron Black's (hopefully) ongoing storyline.
Current participants: Erron Black, Ururu Kyuuei (One of her clones), Adam Gaite (NPC bandits)
Drafted synopsis: Erron Black runs into a small group of bandits planning to capture and rob a noble traveling to the Colosseum. Black is offered to help, and he accepts - but turns around at the last minute to earn the noble's favor.
Go ahead and post your contributions / ideas / objections / questions, and I'll update things as they are fleshed out.

So, in regards to the bandits I've got in store for this....
Aside from their leader, and to a lesser extent his Chief Stooge, they're generally a bunch of incompetent morons. Very much akin to the sort of dreck that clogs the path in the first half dozen chapters of any Fire Emblem game. They're dangerous, but not a major threat. Considering Black's skillset, he should have minimal issues with them once things turn ugly.
I have a reasonable amount of information available on the important folks and will post it up as it becomes relevant.

I'm interested in this, though whether or not Ballad will be able to participate is up to what happens between him and Adam Gaite ICly.

Just sayin', Adam himself won't be involved with this in any fashion. And it'll probably be long before the tournament finishes and Adam even gets mean green's messages.

Well I'm open to any personality to load up on the clones. As they are secondaries any combat has to be really limited as they aren't much better than your average innkeeper. Granted she does have the equivalent of a shotgun that's prepackaged with all of Ururu's clones. Though in her hands as a secondary... not very effective except as maybe a deterrent.
The secondary in question would appear a bit more high born that most of Ururu's stock and I haven't really focused on the detail so this can be varied much as need be for plot even in appearance.
Possible ideas, the clone in question hired them 'supposedly' as an escort knowing full well what they are. Or not knowing (depending on the persona). Or maybe to steer them somewhere where the authorities may catch them.
Other than that the clone will be out walking on the road heading towards the nexus.

Ah, then the only way Ballad is gonna get involved is if the bandits in question end up showing up at his field during the waiting period, in which case Ballad would be antagonistic and demand they leave.
Unless of course that's ALSO before that occurs, in which case Ballad won't be involved anyway.

Adam: That's exactly the kind of crew I'm looking for. I trust you'll want the leader and his chief alive, so we'll work that out. They might walk away with some damage, but Black might also take a few scratches in kind.
Ururu: Your clone doesn't have to get into combat at all, and we can even set it up so you won't. One of my ideas is that your clone offered themselves as a sort of scout for the bandits, working as a sort of lookout or lure for them (how they would know about the traveling noble and how they find Erron Black). They could be their own double agent in order to avoid siding with the bandits when Black turns on them, or they could be genuine and just wisely stay out of the fight. Tell me what you would like and we'll make it work
Once we've decided on who is doing what for the most part, we can share details and I can provide info about the noble in question.

Ah, the big boss is a tough sonuvabitch, I'm not too worried about him. He's got enough brains to know when to beat it, and he's not gonna go down easily -- spoiler alert, he's got Survival. hh: I'd prefer he limps away from this, but we shall see where the road leads.
His Chief Stooge, his business card is literally "professional meatshield", so I don't really mind if he gets messed up or dies, either. The leader-man will probably even throw him under the proverbial bus to make sure he gets away. Fun times.
Info time: the leader-man in question is a fella by the name of "Big Boss" Bertrand. This is him. He stole some fancy-schmancy nobleman's military uniform once and now he wears it as a giant middle finger to the noble class in general. He's pretty intelligent as far as your typical bandits go, but he does still have a fondness for large weapons -- in this case a huge axe -- and unnecessary violence. But he's also got some business savvy, so the idea of him and his bunch being hired as an escort is viable enough.
Further specifics can be ironed out as we go, I suppose.

Sounds like level 1 NPC prime who was just recently summoned from the mob. Most of his OM went into survival, a few moves and base. Former 2nd lieutenant to a mafia kingpin who worked his way up from small crime and Little {Insert Culture} slums. At least that's the vibe I'm getting.
Why is this noble on the road on their own? Shouldn't they have a carriage, horse or an entourage? Possibly this is the second time he's gotten hit by this group and he only managed to just get away?

The name of this particular nobleman is Count Arius Olrox. Hailing from the Pale Moors, he is personally traveling via horse-and-carriage to the Colosseum Tournament in Camelot as he usually does for these events. Though the people who know him share concerns about the Count's traveling alone, he claims not to have had any problems at all regarding robbery or assault.
Arius generally comes across as a complacent, laid-back individual, liking to make small talk and getting to know others. He claims to have been an avid swordfighter in his time (hence his apparent affection for the Colosseum) and respects those he finds strong and righteous. Much to the suspicion of others, however, Arius always answers a question indirectly or otherwise vaguely, leaving much about him shrouded in mystery not many have attempted to unravel.
i bet you can see where this is eventually going hh:

Sometime in the interim after I make my next Colosseum post.
In review:
Erron Black is wandering randomly about the roads in Camelot, he encounters the bandits (either by Ururu's clone scout or some other reason) and joins with them to accost the noble Count Olrox. Black turns his allegiance around at the last moment to killdeathify the bandits and protect the noble to gain his trust. Big Boss manages to turn tail and flee after getting his butt kicked, and Ururu's clone does whatever or something. Ultimately, Black joins Olrox on his trip to the Colosseum.
Sorry I'm being kind of a stickler about the events in this story, but I absolutely had to end it a certain way - hopefully I'm not sacrificing too much in the character building. I do hope I left that synopsis wide open enough for us to build plenty around it and keep the idea fresh with new surprises!

You gotta have a definite thing to work toward, man, don't worry 'bout it.
Things are still wide open enough that there's plenty of room for story-related tomfoolery before shit goes down.

Apologies, but I've hit a bit of a brick wall trying to get something written. Think I'll have to step back and let Ururu go first and do her thing with her clone scout or....something.

And there we have Bertrand up off his keister and moving out. It kind of ended up being open-ended or something. Hopefully I have conveyed the Big Boss's reasons for tromping out to meet Black and whatnot. Any questions regarding details and whatnot, though, just holler.
I hadn't meant to make my next post as short as it is (Boss was supposed to converse with Black more), but since it doesn't really leave anything by a bad thread and everything is otherwise whole, I'm not gonna bother further with it.
it's just that all my posts are so terribly short so far
