Animus
#1
Looking for good ones. I'm not much into cutesy cringey stuff (not judging those that do, it's just not my thing). I like stuff that's both cereberal and action-ey. Prime example is Full Metal Alchemist, which remains probably my favourite anime if not for One Piece and Hunter x Hunter (I like shows with a lot of episodes, too). Code Geass was also excellent. Death note is probably the best written anime I've ever watched. Gurren Lagann kicked ass. I'm not a big fan of fan service in my anime (I find it often blemishes on otherwise good shows), but I will make exceptions when the show is really good like Kill La Kill. I thought Naruto was pretty good at the beginning but I sort of grew out of it towards the end. Any good recommendations?

I was told Legend of the Galactic Heroes was a good thinkin' man's show but but I zoned out like Lord of the Rings. I couldn't remember who anyone was.

I just gave Blood+ the 3-episode test and found it wanting so quit. I'm currently watching Fate/Stay Night and while it passed the 3-episode test for me, I have noticed that some of the English scripting is terrible and some of the tropes made me wonder. Psycho Pass and Gintama are on my list.
Curious about me and the characters I play? See the 'Staff' page! See also the rosters for my characters Samus Aran or Enel if you'd like to see examples of well-formatted rosters. Hope you enjoy the Omniverse!

Read or Die the TV, can't go wrong there.
Gunslinger Girls
Figure 17
Shangri-La
.Hack//Sign
Jigoku Shoujo (Who'd make a great Prime NPC)
Dennou Coil
Infinite Statos
Kyoukai no Kanata
Gundam Build Fighters
Tokyo Magnitude 8.0
Aoi Hana
Rocket Girls
Kamichu!
Sky Girls

These are all anime's I watched all the way through, though most of them are heavy in the female population and in general as protagonists.

Deadman Wonderland - Only 1 season and there is a few cutesy moments, but it isn't overdone. The show itself is pretty brutal, but the art style and the characters are all very well-developed. Overall one of my favorite animes and the manga is even better.

Soul Eater - A little bit heavy on the cutesy/silly side, but overall the characters are very well developed and there are some very interesting/cool concepts that get explored. There is a bit of filler and some goofy stuff, but honestly I think it isn't as bad as some other animes and some of the overdone/cutesy stuff is actually pretty entertaining. Aside from a couple (only two come to mind) scenes of fan service the whole anime is pretty respectful of its characters. Plus the mythos/world is just weird and almost surreal.

Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, Paranoia Agent - All three are classics and all three are damn good, I only list them together because you've probably seen them already.

I've heard great things about Stein's Gate, but I have yet to watch it. It looks like some kind of sci-fi time travel anime. Everyone I have talked to says its the tits and its next on my list.

Log Horizon is a good one if you haven't seen it already. Not as much action as you'd find in other anime, but the parts that do have action are good.

if you like vampires, Hellsing is pretty good. (both hellsing and its Ultimate edition is pretty good, though ultimate has better quality akin to how Brotherhood is to FMA.)

If you like Mechs and mobile suits, gundum and robotech are pretty decent.

Record of Lodoss War is a good fantasy one.

If you like space opera's Crest of the Stars is a pretty good one.

I know many on this list are fairly eh, old and dated, but they are still masterpieces in my book.

Going to mention Yu-Yu Hakosho, Rurouni kenshin, and fist of the North Star.

Im also following Tha Asterisk War. only up to four episodes so far but pretty good. Kinda has a SOA feel to it, but i seem to like this better
"I've been here before, used to this kind of war. Crossfire grind through the sand. The orders were easy: 'It's kill or be killed'. Blood on both sides will be spilled."

I'd recommend Vandread. Sorta reminded me of Outlaw Star and Gundam if you're familiar (robot fights in spaaace). It does have some fanservicey stuff, but it's done in a humorous way. It's also like...26 episodes long.

Also, I really enjoyed Bleach. Great action and cool themes. Does get a bit DBZ-esque, though (I NEED TO GET STRONGER).

Bakemonogatari
Nisemonogatari
Nekomonogatari
Monogatari Series Second Season
Hanamonogatari
Tsukimonogatari
Owarimonogatari (Still in production)
All the above are technically part of the same series, but they did it weird giving each part/and/or/Season it's own name.

Steins;Gate is also good

Cowboy Bebop (Seconded. Really you have to watch it. Classic)

Hellsing Ultimate (I second this one as well. Haven't seen the original Hellsing)

You already said Psycho Pass so that is good.

Black Lagoon is amazing

C the money of souls and possibility control

Durarara!!

A lot of people like Attack on Titan but I haven't seen it yet myself.

I can't really think of much else that you haven't watched that I have seen.

My personal ideas when i read your list :

Obviously D-gray man- many episodes, interesting story / characters and lots of action.

Attack on titan

Tokyo ghoul

If you can get through the horrible first arc , katekyo hitman reborn is also pretty good.

I also vey much enjoyed hajime no ippo, even though i have nothing that pulls me to boxing...the humor and action are amazing...gets you pumped up!

I could not agree more with this statement. If you liked Light and Lelouch then you'll almost certainly like Shiroe as well.

Dean Winchester Wrote:Steins;Gate is also good

Agreed.

I'd like to suggest Guilty Crown as well. If you enjoyed Geass then there's a good chance you'll like it, since they basically copied and only slightly altered Geass' plot when they made it. Personally, I hate that show, since every single second of it I watched did nothing but remind me of how much better Code Geass was, but its been given some surprisingly good reviews, so some other people clearly do enjoy it.

Also:
- Jormungand
- Darker than Black
- Shiki
- Basilisk
- Baccano
- Un-Go
- Devil Survivor 2 (there isn't a first one; it's based off a game, like the Persona 4 anime)
- Towa no Quon

I'd advise all of those above, but especially Baccano. It's plot doesn't sound all that great on paper, but it really is one of the best animes I've ever seen. Big Grin

There are only three episodes so far, but by Nurgle are they the best thing to exist. Watch it. Watch it now.

Also, I recall Aldnoah Zero being pretty good. Haven't watched it in a while, but the premise is near-magical (Bordering on running on the power of friendship) giant robots invading earth, combatted by real robots and clever bastards.

These ones have already been done, but I an put out personal recommendations for

- Cowboy Bebop
- Black Lagoon
- Baccano
- Steins;Gate
and, of course, Hellsing Ultimate. I wouldn't bother with the original though.

And if you want some dark fantasy-esque stuff, I'd heartily recommend BERSERK!

If you don't like the kinda-dated animation and dubbing from the original, the three movies are just as good.

Man! I forgot about Baccano! That one was fucked up and awesome!

So yes, also watch that!

I would just like to suggest Sword Art Online - All of it if you find yourself really enjoying it, but the best part of this Anime is the first season. It can be a little... spaced out, which is mostly annoying, but it's still really enjoyable

I find SAO is hit or miss with people. You either REALLY like it, or hate it completely from what I have been told.

I have yet to hear someone say it is just "Ok, I guess."

Just throwing a single one in here

Legend of the Legendary Heroes

I believe it's different from what you have mentioned, but i love the plot and story, as well as the character. I actually have been considering switching Crash to Ryner, but I don't really want to give him up. But I might. Idk.

I enjoyed it as a guilty pleasure. YES, I know Kirito is a Gary Stu, YES I know there's awkward fanservice, but dammit, it was fun.

Attack on Titan's still my favourite manga. And Berserk. YES. FORCES. COMMANDER GUTS
