The Classpect Test

Even if you haven't read the webcomic Homestuck, this is a fun little test thing to take!

Right now I'm just going to copy and paste a bunch of basic information from someone else's explanation of Classpect, which can also be found here.

What is Classpect?          

Classpect is a system introduced in the popular webcomic Homestuck that catalogues the total impact on reality that a person has. There are two components to Classpect roles: an aspect, which is a piece of reality, the one which the most energy and attention is focused, and the class, which determines how the aspect is interacted with. This is arranged in an “X of Y” format, for example, an Heir of Breath, or in another way of thinking of it, Breath’s Heir. A Classpect role seeks to chart someone’s personal growth and their impact on reality, not such things as personality and abilities or powers. Often times, a correlation can be seen, but just as often it can be subverted.

In theory, every person would have a title. However, in works of fiction many times sufficient information is not given about a character to the point that they could be reliably assigned a role, nor does every single person in life impact reality enough to be given a role. In addition, children and other such people are often not developed enough to hold a role themselves. It is also important not to limit yourself or others based on this or any other classification system. This system is intended to help you learn more about yourself, others, and the world around you. Basing who you are off of such a system can only limit your potential. Act like who you are, then use this to determine what Classpect role that would be, not the other way around. That would be stupid. This is also in the name of fun, so don’t take this too seriously.

That said, Classpect potentially has many uses. You can use it to learn more about yourself, or to understand another fan of this system more quickly. We can use it to learn more about problems we face and to analyze literature easier. We can determine what we like best about ourselves and our biggest failings, and build off of that. And, we can all connect together in this big stupid system and experience the human emotion called friendship.

Determining Your Classpect

               As soon as you hear about this, one of your first thoughts will probably be “What’s my Classpect role?” First, I would advise you to look at the aspects and make a decision which few most likely represent you. From there, you can decide what you think your best impact on reality is represented by and claim that as your aspect. From there, look at how you interact with your aspect: do you tend to be more active or passive? Do you control your aspect, or do you conduct it in a more casual manner? From there, a more specific type of impact will be possible. Finally, look at the implications of the combination, and try and decide what it would look like, and if that fits you. If you are having some trouble with this, go ahead and drop me a question: I’m always willing to help. And don’t be afraid to look at all the possibilities. There are 168 possible Classpect roles, and it’s perfectly alright to net get the first one a few dozen times!

               There are a few tests available for Classpect roles at this time, but with so many possibilities, and so many possibilities within each role, I don’t particularly like any one at this time. The described method is currently one of the better ones, though it is possible to use the test for a sort of baseline if you are absolutely lost as to what your Classpect role is. Also note that you could have one million of each individual class, and not a single replication of a person, and just because you aren’t like someone with a similar role doesn’t mean that it’s not your role.

Aspects

              Aspects are the twelve ideals and points that make up all of reality. Each has an opposite, and with this opposite, they form 6 individual spectrums that make up all of reality. Two of them form the physical world: Space and Time, and the rest focus on the ways that people interact with reality. Everyone has a bit of all the aspects in them, but there tends to be one that people can identify with more than any others. This aspect will probably come to define them in subtle ways, and they gain an instinct for the flow and feel and shape of this aspect, and it largely comes to represent them whether they know it or not.

               Every idea can be traced, in some way, back to these aspects. The concept of a spectrum cataloguing everything might seem alien, but it is in fact well explored. Consider the four classical elements or the five colors of Magic: The Gathering.  This is simply another schema available for looking at it, and looking at people. There is probably some perfect arrangement of the aspects, but it has not been found yet, just rough ideas of where the aspects lie in relation to each other.

Classes

There are 14 Classes in Homestuck: 12 Normal Classes and 2 Master Classes. The Normal classes are extremely well explained, with many examples of each and in-depth explorations available. The Master classes are a bit more obscure, with not a lot being revealed about them as of yet.

It is interesting to note that the non-master Classes are all actually named to be a sort of “servant” or “lower classman”, while only the two Master classes are not. Also note that all classes have two functions, which can be broadly explained as “through their aspect” and “of their aspect”. You’ll understand later.

Each class has a “keyword” and is either passive/active. The keyword describes what avenue the impact on reality takes, such as understand, change, create, destroy, allocate, or exploit. Passiveness vs. activeness roughly describes how much direct control over the aspect the class maintains.

Note that Classpects are very basic descriptions and should in no way inhibit how you or your character behaves.

Canon Aspects:

From left to right, up to down: Breath, Light, Time, Space, Mind, Heart, Life, Void, Hope, Doom, Blood, Rage.

Non-canon Aspects:

From left to right, up to down: Blaze, Form, Zen, Keys.

Anyway, here are the tests! I'm going to include five so you'll have a greater chance of getting something accurate:

Example run: On the first test I got the Page of Space. According to the site, "Pages tend to be extremely weak and passive at the start of their journeys. However, they have incredible potential, and if they can survive long enough to reach god tier, their powers will make all others' pale in comparison. Space players can warp space at will, adjusting the size and momentum of objects. They are absolutely essential for any session to be victorious, as they are responsible for the creation of the new universe."

On the second test, my top aspect was Space, while the two highest-scoring ones below that were Time and Blood. Still Space-y.

On the third test, I got Mage(excluding the non-canon role of Monk from my results, that is). This makes me the "Investigator", or a "Problem Solver". According to the site, I "Want to possess knowledge, to understand the environment, to have everything figured out as a way of defending the self from threats from the environment." My aspect was also once again Space.

Since I personally identify with the Page class more, I think that my Classpect would be the Page of Space.

ON A SIDE NOTE**: The third test(CLASSPECT TEST 2) includes non-canon Classes such as: Spark, Agent, Fiend, Serf, Star, Queen, Soul, Poet, Ace, Voice, Chief, Sage, Duke, and Monk. It also has non-canon Aspects such as: Blaze, Form, Keys, and Zen. This is okay. It might just be more difficult for you to find a solid analysis anywhere, is all. I added in some more tests, just in case people wanted to avoid fanon classpects.

After taking the Classpect tests and deciding on your Classpect, it would also be a good idea to take these two tests listed below:

Yay, this has been done! ||D

I'd already taken the first test before and got Page of Space (just like you, Jade! ||3 EDIT: And apparently Gamzee too!?), but I retook just now and got Page of Light. I don't think the Page thing is going anywhere, frankly; it suits me pretty well. (Although that second test gave me the fanon class Spark, which is kind of cool, especially in how it relates to my aspect... Spark of Light? :awesome: ) I'm still not sure about Aspect, but for now I'll go with my most recent decision - having read all the descriptions thoroughly, I believe Light fits me better. (I'm just going to ignore the fact that orange is my least favorite color. =_=) Oddly enough, using the more complicated Aspect test, Mind came out way on top, followed by Time and Heart - Light and Space were below average! I'm not sure I trust that one, though, comparing my results to the aspects' descriptions. (Plus there's the fact that Mind and Heart were both really high, despite being opposites, and Doom was my lowest with only 1 point but Life was really low too!) I used to want to be Hope (Sylph of Hope, specifically), until... I read this, and the part about the symbols. keptic:

Partly Off-Topic: The PersonalDNA test that I had to take for my Land's "Feel" (that I didn't actually use to come up with the title, heh) was actually pretty interesting... for some reason, I got a much higher masculinity (30%) than femininity (12%) rating, although I wouldn't even consider myself a "tomboy." Don't know what the significance of that is. *shrug* I have heard that very few females are INTJ, so that might have something to do with it (cross-referencing my personality tests here ||p).

At any rate, this was confusing for me on several levels. My first Class was Soul, and after I did some digging around in various tumblr pages, It's actually a pretty interesting fanon. So, while I most definitely claim it, we'll keep it canon for canon's sake.

After cross-examining most of the tests you provided, My three most common classes were Page, Mage, and Knight. Of those three, I felt pretty torn between Mage and Page, but the most scored one was Page, so yeah, we'll go with that.

Expunging the non-canon Aspects, my lowest score was Time (because I think that I can definitely be the worst of my personality sometimes), and the Highest three were Space, Hope, and Heart.

I identify with both Heart and Space, but across the board, Space was the one that I scored the most. So, we'll keep it at that!

So far, the User session of SBURB wouldn't be doing so hot without a Time player. Our Character session, however, would be kicking major butt on almost all fronts, probably. I mean, as long as all of our characters cooperated, which is kind of a lot to ask. If one person went rogue, they would pretty much all be hecked up. Yikes. :froggonk:

And a Prince of Void can destroy Void -- or nothingness -- or destroy WITH Void.

So he can leave "voids" of information and make it so only HE has all the informations. hh:

I usually go by Rain or Quantum as my alias. Rain seemed more fitting. Seeing as I did all the tests, I had a choice really, I could've been a Seer or a Mage, and I could have done Mind, Time, or Breath. I also got Heart and Rage, but those don't fit me whatsoever, so I ignored them. As a rule of thumb, I went with the ones I got most often, which were Mage and Mind. I'd prefer to have gotten Seer of Time to be honest, but I guess life is full of disappointments...

Bonus points for anyone that sees the acronym in my Land's name.

Jaixe is... interesting, but all the same similar to me. Just more prideful, evil, and dark. All the things I can't be in public. Personally, I like his non-canon one better, even though I have no idea what "Keys" even means...
