Character name:
Ballad

Character history:
Ballad used to reside in a world consumed by almost eternal winter. Snow covered most, if not all of the land, with blizzards being a common occurrence in some areas. What used to be massive oceans were now frozen over, with the only use of them were for towns positioned near them to mine the ice and attempt to melt them. In a normal situation, given the harsh, cruel weather, such things would be impossible. However, the world housed a material that allowed the inhabitants to survive, for civilizations for expand, and for the world to thrive. This material was an unusual wick, which upon physical contact (such as striking it hard against a certain object,) ignited and created fire. This wick was found when the idea of breaking the ice first came to be, to find the wick encased within some of them. With this wick, the inhabitants of the world were able to melt the ice and gain water, and eventually would develop many more materials and products thanks to the wick.

It is unknown in that world what made the wick function the way it did in such a cold, unforgiving world. Or more importantly, how it came to be. Some believe it was created by an omnipotent being, like a God. Others believe the wick was the result of a chemical combination with the climate and the water. However it came to be, it was the equivalent of an Industrial Revolution within the world. More powerful tools were made, fireplaces and factories could be made, and most importantly, weapons could be developed.

However, the world eventually grew into conflict over the two sides, one's who viewed the wick scientifically, and the others who viewed it religiously. The religious sect were called the Church of the Candlelight, and most towns had at least one building dedicated to this religion. The scientists were called Wicker Men, and held constant protests and debates over the "credibility" of the Church of the Candlelight, and frequently tried to explain the wick scientifically.

Eventually, tension between the two sides could continue no longer. In a town along the edge of Frozen Over (What was presumed to be a former sea,) a lone Wicker Man proceeded to set fire to a Church of the Candlelight, killing fifteen inhabitants within. News of this astounding and devastating action spread all over the world, serving as a call to arms which escalated into a war between the two sides.

It was during this time that we find Ballad, trying to escape it all.

Ballad was born in the town of Frozen Over before the entire fiasco started. He was born into a family of miners, as were most families in that town. At a young age, he learned the tradition of how to mine the ice, melt it, and use the long-worshiped wick. He grew interested in the wick, and resolved to figure out more ways to utilize it. Thus, he helped pioneer the wicks use for weaponry, especially the usage of explosives. Over the course of a few years, he helped manufacture guns and his own brand of explosives, and eventually managed to combine the two together (As in, a gun can be a grenade or a bomb in short notice.) It wasn't until much later on in his life would he realize the error of his ways.

About twenty-five years later, Ballad was still around, living in the town along the edge of Frozen Over. Around the time of the massacre, he was walking back home from work in a factory when he became one of many to witness the Extinguishing of the Church. A day after the event, when the bodies were all identified, he witness several of his coworkers crying in despair. Instead of comforting them, however, he remained silent, this time deciding to get out of there while he still could. He predicted this action would cause massive problems, maybe a war between the two sides, whom he had for a long time criticized (mostly due to his belief that trying to figure out what created the wick was pointless.) He continued to rationalize to himself why he wanted to leave, citing the war, unwilling to fight, unable to fight, the excuses went on. However, some others thought that he simply didn't want to face down the possibility of someone he held dear to be dead with him around. To be honest, he had never formed a strong connection with anyone, with his parents being the only ones who ever got close. Anyone else he simply pushed aside, cutting off all ties in any way possible. So, after packing up everything he could, including clothes, food, a pick-axe, a large amount of extra wick, and multiple double action .480 Revolvers with bomb settings, he set out into the wasteland that was Frozen Over.

For two years, he lived out there, living off whatever he could find, killing animals that came by, and remaining an outcast. The only thing that he knew about the world around him were from other "refugees" who informed him of what was going on within the town of Frozen Over before leaving after Ballad pushed them away. Through these refugees he discovered that the town along the edge of Frozen Over had been taken over by the Church of the Candlelight, and were being led by a theocratic government. They were very harsh to non-believers, and had killed several people by burning them inside their homes. Overtime, however, the people belonging to the Church decided to head out to hunt for refugees to bring back for "cleansing." Upon hearing this news, Ballad got as much ammunition as he can, and waited for the inevitable.

Eventually, as he was sitting down inside his shack-like abode, eating the remains of an animal he had killed earlier, he heard a knocking on the door. Looking towards it, he quietly slid his revolver out his holster, keeping it behind his back as he advanced towards the door. The knocking continued, growing louder and faster before Ballad opened the door. And just as he had predicted, there was a group of about ten Church members standing outside. None had their weapons out, and a single figure stood in front of him, carrying a book. He began to speak a number of biblical words from the scripture, which would be his undoing. Ballad quickly lunged forward, grabbing the man and turning him around, revolver to head. He shouted at the others to leave on threat of death as the others took out their weapons. Just as quickly as he reentered his home, he was assailed by a barrage of gunfire. He quickly ended the life of the man through a single shot to the brain, using him as a human shield as he fires twice more into the crowd, injuring a man and killing another. He then closed the door, barricaded it with the nearby table, before starting what would go down in history as the Skirmish of the Shack of Frozen Over, a hugely one-sided battle where, despite the Church winning, their victory was a Pyrrhic one at best. Over the course of a few minutes, Ballad managed to kill at least six more of the Church members. However, he couldn't hold out forever, and thus lost when a Church member threw a gun bomb inside, causing an explosion. This explosion caused the building to collapse on top of Ballad. He was presumed dead, as no mortal man could survive that. However, upon searching for their brethren, his body could not be found.

In actuality, however, he had been taken to the Omniverse. Certain he was dead, banged up and bruised and shot across his left shoulder, he found himself bound to the floor, laying down on his chest with his head turned right, seeing a glowing smile in the eternal darkness, talking. He only could make out one thing: This thing was called Omni... and he was somewhere called.. the Omniverse?

Omni hands him a glimmering orb in which all the colors of the rainbow coalesce. “This is Omnilium. It’s what ties the Omniverse together. Without it, you are nothing. With it, anything you desire can be yours. But you will need more than this. If you desire it enough, you will find it. You will find that using it comes naturally. Just think of what you desire most.

“You will not be alone in the Omniverse. There are others. Of course, they, too desire Omnilium. Do not fear death. For as long as you interest me, you will be reborn.

“That’s all you need to know right now. You’ll figure out the rest soon enough. I’ll be watching … and waiting.”

Before he could even fathom what was going on, he finds himself in an empty landscape, in front of a lush, white fountain. He couldn't exactly remember how he got there, or what happened previously. However, what he did know was that his injuries had gone away, as he no longer felt a fresh stream of blood on his left arm whenever he set his right hand on the wound. He looks down to his right, finding his revolver still in the holster. He pats himself down, still feeling the clothes he had on were still on. After checking himself out, and looking around, he finally manages to think up something to say.

"Gotta be... some kind of... dream.." in a bewildered way, almost as if he was trying to deny the fact he wasn't dead and in a new universe.

Physical Description: (originals only)
His clothes are of a variety of colors, but mostly composed of red and dark green. He has on a dark green coat, with a white sweater underneath his coat that offered extra protection against the cold. His hands are covered by black, leather gloves. His pants are also dark green, and his feet are covered in black winter boots that were almost always caked in snow. On his right hip was a leather holster containing his revolver, and a belt along his waist containing most of his ammunition. Finally, around his head is a red scarf, covering his mouth and nose from the outside air. It is wrapped awfully tight, requiring a good amount of force to remove it. On top of his head is a green trapper hat, clipped together to cover his ears, with the inside wool being of a white color.

As per the description of his being, although one cannot make out what he looks like underneath all of his clothes, they can make out some details from his face. He stands around 5'6", and looks to weigh about one hundred and fifty pounds. His skin color is dark green, with the skin itself being bumpy in most areas. His eyes are large in an oval shape, and in the middle of those eyes was a single black dot that most likely served as his means of sight. It grew bigger when in darkness, and smaller in the light, and can move around just like a normal eye can. Above his eyes were black eyebrows, though they were hardly visible due to a lack of hair in said eyebrows. They were often shaped to give him a frowning expression, and often still has this even when anger did not take him over, and they didn't appear to move at any point, regardless of emotion.

Starting Moves:
.480 Revolver (requires Ranged Proficiency) - 300 OM
One of the first revolvers to be crafted in the world of eternal winter. It's typically a black, steel revolver that utilizes a cartridge of .480 inches, and can usually fire six of these before needing to be reloaded. In the world of eternal winter, it was double action, and had an impressive amount of accuracy and stopping power, with unusually little recoil, making it popular as a sidearm in the war and among the populace.

Once Ballad got into the Omniverse, however, the rules of the weapon changed. It's double action was gone, replaced by a single action setting, requiring him to pull back the hammer of the revolver in order to fire each shot, decreasing the fire rate to that of about one shot every two seconds. The gun was still powerful enough to stop normal humans in their tracks, though the recoil was much higher, so much so that firing it at a target from long range for inexperienced gun users was almost impossible. Overall accuracy decreased to the point where, unless the character using it is very good with weapons, it is best to use the revolver at mid range to short range.

Two-handed Pickaxe (requires Physical Strength Proficiency) - 300 OM
This Pickaxe was widely used throughout Ballad's world as a tool, mostly for extracting the ice containing the special wick. However, once the war broke out, it was used as an especially deadly melee weapon. A three foot long piece of wood, where at the tip of the wood were the pieces of metal that lay perpendicular to the wood. One piece of metal was pointed, while the other was blunt. During battles in he war, melee fighters used the Pickaxe to great effect, fracturing skulls and providing massive piercing damage to any it hit.

Upon arrival in the Omniverse, like everything else, the rules of the tool turned weapon changed. Ballad often has the Pickaxe on his back, slung by two straps that he slides off when he needs to use it. Due to the weight of the metal, it isn't exactly the fastest weapon in the world, taking about three to four seconds to swing. Also, due to the nature of how he carries it, it takes about five seconds to get it into a suitable fighting position, leaving him open to attack. To make up for it, the damage of the weapon, if it connects, can be damaging, doing more severe damage the less resilient the enemy. Also, the Pickaxe is surprisingly easy to block attacks with, being able to withstand a wide variety of weaponry and allows Ballad to go on the defensive if needed.

Bomb Setting - Tier 1 Attack Super Move - 600 OM (requires Area Attack Proficiency and Ranged Proficiency)
However, the ability to shoot bullets isn't the only thing that made the revolver popular. With upgrades designed by a few people, including Ballad, late versions were modified to house a grenade within the revolver. Upon pressing a red button near the revolving cylinder of the revolver, a piece of wick would ignite near the grenade, and a countdown would start. This countdown would be evident by a series of numbers along the barrel of the revolver, which would go up to five before the gun explodes, harming anyone from up to six feet away with an excess amount of shrapnel. Due to this, some people bought and used multiple revolvers with this setting.

Upon entering the Omniverse, like the revolver itself, the Bomb setting changed. The explosion radius decreased to four feet upon arrival within the Omniverse, requiring more accuracy for whomever is throwing it to actually hit the target. Also, the actual damage of the explosion and shrapnel largely depended on how resilient the target is, with particularly resilient targets being simply thrown off their feet. However, in the Omniverse, whenever the revolver was used as a bomb, it would reappear in Ballad's holster a few seconds later, fully loaded, removing the need to buy and use multiple revolvers.

I confirm that I have read and agreed to the Rules of Conduct.

Edited a few things, most notably adding the Super Move as I felt that what I was going for with the revolver was too overpowered.

Also changed up a few words throughout the post for clarity.

Another edit. This time, I added the Physical Strength Proficiency, as well as the Two Handed Pickaxe move to compliment it. Finally, I added the Enhanced Senses - Basic to Powers.

This will most likely be the last edit unless something else comes to mind I want to put down.

Everything here looks good, your moves are fine. however, with everything there, you've used 5200 OM You only start with 5000 so you'll have to chose to leave a move behind and purchase it later (or you can leave one of the power/ proficiencies).
