A Visionary Idea
#1
Shulk emerged from the gate with little fanfare, and he supposed that it was a nice change of pace from the events in the Ashen Steppes. Instead of sulfer and smog, here he stood amidst wide plains of green grass beneath a blue sky. The sight of all was shocking, to say the least, yet the thought of being in such a massive expanse of land was...comforting. Natural, even. Shulk realized that the possibilities in this land were endless, that he had the freedom to choose wherever he wanted to go. Maybe I should stick to the road for now, the boy ruminated, while he noted the dirt covered trail leading up a small hill.

As the Homs walked, his thoughts turned again to his memories -- or his lacking of, to be precise. It was frustrating, no amount of thought or Omnilium could gleam a hint of Shulk's former life, nor why he possessed a sword as strange as the Monado. "I'm not going to give up, I will remember...somehow." Shulk said aloud, and the distant stare of a man plowing a field prompted Shulk to stare downwards in embarrassment while he picked up his pace. He'd upset the gorons, he didn't want to accidentally screw up his relations with this world's people.

With what little memories he had accumulated, Shulk couldn't help but think of Ruby and Rin. When he last saw them, they'd been individually lectured by the goron chief, and Shulk had been sent off alone. The boy had decided to travel on his own so as to avoid another possible misadventure of Rin's. He felt guilty to just abandon Ruby, despite her eccentricities, the girl had endeared herself to him -- or maybe he just wanted more time to examine that scythe of hers. Nonetheless, Shulk made a promise to himself to apologize should he ever run across them again.

The Homs soon reached the top of the hill, and he was awed by the magnitude of the land before him. To the distant stood a great city made of stone and surrounded by layers of walls. Around it, villages of varying sizes dotted the land, and if Shulk squinted hard enough he could see people traveling along the paths leading around the land. The real eye-catcher, however, was an equally massive structure just south of the city. A large crowd had gathered around it, leading Shulk to believe that something of importance was happening. It was a sizable distance away, but Shulk had a feeling he'd make good time if he ran. And so he ran; with the wind blowing against him, the Homs kicked up dirt with every step as he set out towards his destination. He hadn't gotten a vision of the future yet, but that just excited him even more.

"I can change the future!"

Weiss kept walking down the seemingly endless path she found herself on. Just how long was this road going to stretch on, anyways? Weiss hoped the coliseum, at least, was actually marked on the map she'd been given. The salesman she'd met was more than a little shifty...
And she'd given him a full description of the person she was trying to find safe and sound. "Good job, Weiss. Just open up to the creepo who wanted to make a mask out of you."

she clenched her fists at the thought, realizing she might have done nothing more than paint a target on Ruby's back. And that if she just kept asking around like an idiot, that would be all she accomplished.
Assuming she was alive and well, of course, but Weiss could not, and would not, assume anything less. Her leader was here, and she would find her. No matter what she had to do along the way. If nothing else, she'd make damn sure to win this tournament.

Weiss took a deep breath at that. The Tournament. She realized she actually hadn't thought about just what going there meant. From what she was told, there would be plenty of primes there. People like her. People used to the Omniverse. she rested a hand on Myrtenasters hilt. From a glance, she could see that Myrtenaster's dust chambers - normally kept meticulously sorted and filled - were hollow, which meant that, at least right now, she couldn't fight like she was used to. She'd have to rely purely on her swordplay and her now vastly weakened aura.

The opponents she would face would probably have a bunch of this omnilium, or whatever that stuff was, that Omni had given her. some might even be looking specifically for the Omnilium from other people. And she was no fool, either - the whole 3 day rule combined with the fact it was literally held at a coliseum meant Weiss could be facing death on a loss.

Weiss frowned. What was she doing? This could be her ticket to actually getting closer to finding Ruby. Maybe finding all her friends, assuming they were here. Failure was not an option here, for any reason. She gripped Myrtenaster tightly, and took a deep breath, stopping her walk briefly as she thought back to the countless maneuvers, the days after days of countless training, the constant murmurs of "prodigy" she'd heard throughout her life.
She'd been sharpening her edge all her life... If she couldn't manage to win a simple tournament - no, if, even with something so important riding on the line, if she could manage to lose anything - what was the point?
